Wuith dived but she had seen him, he had choosen his distence too high. Oh how smart she was! So beautiful she was! Course that trick that that could have caught a green (maybe a barred) wouldn't have worked on her, but her evasion only made him want her more. If only he could press himself to her gold hide....
Now his path cut close Alduth, a wingtip brushing within meters of the bronze. Recovering from the plumeting dive a large gust rightened him unexpectedly, his bad positioning working to his advantage and he found himself neck and neck with his last rival. Wuith had seemed to know from the beginning that Labyrinth did not have his full mind set on catching, hadn't he seen him a few times watch weyrlings?
Hitting the clouds again the Tan let out a loud roar, the sound almost like thunder as he melted once more into the dark mist. This wild and dangerous setting was his niche, racing the wind like a streak of lightning. This was all for gold Nayarath! He did not chase just any female that rose, only the best did he choose to persue.
Once more he had broken away from Alduth, he rather take his chances against Labyrinth's mistake alone. The static prickled around him, his explosion from the clouds illuminated as the charge pulsed through where he had been only seconds ago. In the high alltitude he almost appeared like a ghost dragon, shinning brightly in reflection to the stars that twinkled above and the lightning the cracked below.
This was it, no more games. He was going to fly like he should have from the beginning and would make Nayarath his. His large lungs set in his masive chest bearly told him of the labouring flight upto now. Powerful wings snapped at the air and carried him swiftly after his queen like a blur. Nayarath, my queen, you have no doubt out done yourself once again. The fuiry oh this storm is left behind in your quake, let us too leave Alduth behind
L'han felt himself lost to the flight lust, nearly panting as he held back. Never did he expect Wuith to be so wanting, so needing of Nayarath. The tanrider felt the resulting attraction, Kora had never appeared so beautiful. Please Wuith win! he found himself almost screaming as he was finally 100% melded with his dragon in the skies above.

Nayarath watched with only barely disguised surprise at Wuith's next trick, he seemed much more a performer than Alduth. He had a lot more to prove, of course, but she liked how hard he was trying. Why didn't Alduth put on such a show? The Tan's stunts were dangerous, but surely nothing a Bronze couldn't handle.
They were out of the bad weather now, above its dangers. Nayarath wanted to see some real tricks, no use of the surroundings, just use of the dragons themselves. What could they do to make themselves worthy of her? Could they do it without help? She rumbled softly and turned her violet-eyed gaze to the Bronze and Tan following her. Now you can dance in the stars, she told them playfully. Show me what you are capable of.
Her wings were feeling the strain of the Flight, the bad weather had taken more of a toll on her than Nayarath expected. But her choice wasn't to be made just yet; the longer the Flight, the better her clutch, and that was as much on her mind as the Flight. The thin air was making her need to work harder to stay aloft too; speed and altitude came at a cost. A test of all their strength was what her Flight was, although Nayarath would be the best one to last.
The stars do not wait, you know, Nayarath pointed out. All through the Flight Alduth had been referring to her as a star, so perhaps he would get her point more. With a powerful downstroke, the Gold shot forwards. Tricks would also include keeping up with her.
Kora was feeling desire grow steadily more powerful, but was surprised by the lack of a decision. In her last Flight, Nayarath had been caught by Alduth, but with only two males fighting for her, the Weyrwoman would have expected some glimmerings of who Nayarath wanted. The Tan was apparently in as a possibility now.
She gave up on fighting with her dragon and almost immediately fell into the Flight, her sight oddly tinged visions of the night sky, her skin cold with the thin air rushing along her sides, the weight of a choice countered with the feeling of utter freedom and power... Nayarath was not a lusty Gold, her Flights were a mix of games and duty, not focused on mating. But dragon and rider, combined, had even less of an idea of who would win now.

Alduth growled under his breath. That sharding Tan! He would take Nayarath away if the Bronze didn't do anything about it. There had to be something...Alduth knew the moment that Nayarath told them that Stars don't wait forever. She was tiring, they all were. This flight was a long one, and Alduth could feel his energy depleting. He had managed a good few bloodings though, so he was good until the end! He would make it so!
Alduth crooned and shot forward. He spun around on his wing-tip and dipped down into the clouds right under Nayarath. Coming up at the other side of the Gold, he corkscrewed up toward the stars before falling back in a dive behind Nayarath.
Diving into the clouds again, he came back up in a big twirl drawing cloud vapor with him. Since he had only went into the very top of the clouds, there had been no danger. His body was covered in tiny droplets now, and reflected the many tiny stars as the dragons passed them.
My hide shines Nayarath, but only for you. He crooned. Hoping that his display of power and precision was enough to sway her away from the more foolish and rather stupid Tan. Tan's weren't much if this was what they were all like.
Y'xem sank slightly to the floor. The lust was building to a dangerous level. He couldn't see anything but Nayarath and Kora now. There was no walking out of here until the end of this Flight, and if he lost? Shards...he dreaded walking the halls.
Who knew what Y'xem would do if someone tried to talk to him in the hall?! He didn't have the capacity to think of it now as he crooned himself, wanting so much for Alduth to win that it hurt.

Wuith had seen, or more felt the surprise on his queen and soon to be mate. The unexpected but dazzling preformance had scored him bonus points for Nayarath's favor but the game wasn't over yet. On his own accord he must now prove his endurence, speed and strength in body and mind. That was the only way to win! This was the moment he had been waiting for all these 3 Turns since he surprised the world with his existence.
Alduth your seeming fake, relying on the help of that of that surrounding. Dare you try to out shine beautiful Nayarath with that cheap trick? NEVER![/I] His wings snapped the air in his disgust at the bronze and let large wings take him higher and higher still. When he felt he had got all the hight he could without pushing himself too high wings clenched close and he pulled back, pulling a tight arch backwards and shot straight down. The briefest, smallest of movements in one wing sent him into a dizzy spin but this was all part of the plan.
With the on comming of the clouds he pulled open his wings, slowing his spin. With all the power his could muster into his wingstrokes he pulled out of his dive just before hitting the clouds. Gusts of wind he created blew the misty vapor from under him as he cut his clear path along the top of the cloud. The stunt was not all he had, but it showed everything Nayarath needed to see; speed, strenght, endurence, cunning. If anything had gone wrong up here to disrupt his display he could have wiped himself out of the compitition behaving like an undisiplined weyrling trying out his wings but Nayarath needed to see.
Was my display adiquite for my queen? Or would she like me to continue to prove myself?
L'hans head span at Wuith's antics and threatened to break the ties. Should that happen it might have disrupted his tan and put him in grave danger. Trust and experience let the rider leave it all in his dragons capable wings, and was rewarded when the specticle ended perfectly. It didn't stop his lust though, mounted so great it was a wonder why he hadn't tried to make a move towards Kora. He needed her like Wuith needed Nayarath, and like dragon would do all in his power to prove himself to her.

Nayarath growled softly, more annoyed by her indecision than anything else. The Tan had surprised her by getting her attention by the end of the Flight, but she still wasn't sure she wanted the new color being the winner of her Flight. Labyrinth had fallen out, Truth would be no choice at all. She hadn't even seen him come above the cloud cover. Alduth seemed the obvious choice... but the Gold was torn.
Do you speak to me, Tan? Nayarath didn't really like the words with which Wuith finished his display. It had been good, but referring to her simply as 'she' gave her the impression he was talking to someone else. That she didn't like, there was no-one else around worth asking. Hers was the almighty decision.
Alduth had disappointed her by using water, the clouds, whatever he could find in these skies to improve himself. Wuith had at least acted on his own power. But, as usual, she liked the Bronze's flattering words. Wuith's were sort of a put-down on himself, making her wonder if he thought what he had done was bad. If it was, he should have performed his best for her!
Bronze, you have gotten yourself wet, she commented dryly to Alduth. A good trick, but Nayarath had dried off quickly enough after leaving the storm and suspected her suitors had too... but now the Bronze was covered with water. Pretty... but rather pointless.
Still, her wings were ready for a rest and Nayarath finally felt the flickers of a possible decision. Latching onto it before she had time to reconsider, the Gold ducked downwards, weaving close the clouds before looping up and coming beneath her chosen mate. She didn't linger there long though, only taking the time to nip at his throat and send a mental assurance of her decision before swooping over him. Nayarath would not be the one to grab and fly, she was ready to be carried off.
Kora shuddered as the dragonlust grew abruptly in strength but didn't fight the desperate pull towards the rider of the dragon Nayarath had chosen. She couldn't imagine how L'han would feel now, but had more of an idea with Y'xem as she pressed to him, her lips meeting his with whatever force Nayarath's lust guided her to use, her arms wrapping tight around him.
In the part of her mind that was still hers, Kora was relieved that it was Alduth who had won a second time. A Bronze was a sure sign that they had a chance at getting a Gold egg, which would be another weight off Kora's shoulders to not have her dragon be the only Gold on Pern, and she didn't have to worry about a new Weyrleader or weyrmate...
Nayarath was paying little attention to her rider's thoughts as she let her neck and tail twine with Alduth's. Thoughts of Wuith had fled when she first touched the Bronze, he was the right choice. The stars have chosen then, she murmured to him playfully. Let us fly.

He had lost!!! Wuith had pushed himself for every display and proved himself better then a bronze and he still lost, because she chosen words over actions. His power was left unrewarded, and she had chosen weaker. Charm could not be passed to the next generation, only time would tell how the next clutch would hatch.
Anger, loss, heartbreak, betrayal all built up and was all released in the loudest roar the tan had ever uttered. Wings snapping closed he let himself fall away, ready to make the long flight home in the cold, sobering rain...
L'han stumbled back to himself, disorientated from the build up and then...nothing. Wuith had pushed himself whole heartedly, the next few days might be near unbearable with the tan. Pulling himself together as best he could he exited the room, leaving Kora and Y'xem to what everyone knew what would happen next.

That Tan dared speak to him?! What a stuck-up dragon! Alduth pumped his wings to keep up with Nayarath and wondered if any of their wings could take much more, though Nayarath would be the last to tire.
As she spoke to him about being wet he crooned. I suppose I have, dear Nayarath. Though I can get dry very quickly. He gurgled at that and spun around to shake the drops off.
As the Flight drug on for just a moment longer, Nayarath veered back to her pursuers and nipped at his neck. That was the end. He and Nayarath were mates again!
The moment that it was obvious to Alduth, it was obvious to Y'xem. Especially when Kora was suddenly kissing him desperately. He didn't hold back, the lust finally finding some release as he kissed back. His hands wrapped around her as he fumbled them around her weyr for the bed.
As they twined, Alduth crooned to her once more. It turned to an amused rumble as she said that the stars had chosen. No Golden Nayarath, the Only Star has chosen. He twined his neck and tail tight, pulling his wings out to support them. Winning was glorious.
