Thread had only fallen a couple days ago, but Amirinth was feeling completely reenergized, and perhaps even a bit more than she usually did. Her hide especially showed it, although it was probably obvious that its extra bright glow could be caused by something else too. Irritable, flirty, and overall completely unable to stick to one mood for more than a few moments lately, Amirinth had been proddy for some time.
The Green wasn’t going to let that go on any longer though. She sprung from the ledge of her weyr and towards the late-noon sun with an impatient trumpet. The Green would not waste time playing queen and blooding kills. Her wings carried her straight out over the Weyr Bowl, but not towards the feeding grounds.
Who would chase this time? Amirinth bugled a challenge. Was there a male who really thought he could catch her? They were all silly creatures, thinking they could win such a pretty Green. All of them seemed to think they would, but they were all wrong. Amirinth would win this Flight, yes. But not until she had made all the males prove their silliness to her. They rarely did outside of Flights, or at least they rarely did so with a purpose.
But there was plenty of time before they had to worry about that. Another trumpet exploded from Amirinth’s jaw as she tilted a wing to arc over the lake. Where were her suitors? They had no chance of claiming her, but Amirinth liked to see them try nonetheless.
K’laon leaned against the wall lining the wide opening of the weyr he and Amirinth shared, watching his dragon shoot across the bowl and searching for the males. Blues, Browns, Tans, Bronzes… all were welcome at her Flight, although it had been some time since he had seen a Bronze join a Green’s Flight. Lately, there had even only been one Brown… but he wouldn’t chase this time. So who would? There were definitely a few riders in the Weyr that K’laon wouldn’t mind having their dragons win his dragon.

Do you hear that Mine? Truth's voice interrupted any thoughts F'ynch might have been having and the blue rider looked up at his dragon with narrowed eyes. What on Pern was the blue talking about now? He'd been completely devoted to Haith the last couple of days, staying by her side and showering her with compliments. While F'ynch avoided Kett like she was Threadfall. What Truth obviously hadn't grasped, or had but was ignoring, was that F'ynch did not like women in the romantic sense.
Then, Amirinth's trumpet echoed and F'ynch swore. Loudly and impressively. Truth looked at him for a long moment, waiting until his rider's voice stopped echoing before speaking. I think I'll chase. He murmured, almost thoughtfully as he got to his feet. Still recovering for Threadfall, Truth was in now way going to let that bother him, the stupid browns and bronzes wouldn't have a problem, so neither would he. Truth! You have a mate! Mine, Haith is sweet, and has proven herself intelligent by choosing me. But I want Amirinth. I'm not going to just sit here. With that, he bugled loudly, leaping off his weyrledge to join Amirinth in the sky.
Ugh! Stupid sharding dragon!
Letting the cool air soothe the ache in his muscles, Truth crooned, low and sweet to Amirinth. Wasn't it wonderful? He was chasing. He was tired, and he had a mate, but he was chasing Amirinth, and why? Amirinth, your radiance puts Rukbat's light to shame. No gold could possible match your beauty. Alright, he'd give it that it wasn't that original, but what male really said anything original. It was always their beauty. Wasn't it enough that he was chasing at the risk of Haith's wrath? If the other green even noticed that he was indeed chasing.
So far, he was the only chaser. So far, so good.

Roluth was gone before C'it even knew what was going on. " Shards Roluth you could have at least told me where to go. Who's Flying!?" Amirinth. That was all Roluth would say, he was already caught up in this Flight. This was Amirinth, the most beautiful Green in the Weyr! He would have her if it killed him...and it might, seeing as it was just a few days after Threadfall. He bugled to her twice, catching up and flying behind her on the right.
He would pace himself but he wanted to show Amirinth that he was better than he had even been during Threadfall. He crooned to her and even risked a thought towards her. Beautiful Amirinth, Roluth has come to see if he is worthy of such a beautiful Green.C'it finally got to K'laon's weyr and gave the rider a grin. " Roluth was a bit anxious. He didn't even think about dropping me off here. Guess he likes Amirinth." C'it took his regular place on a wall, looking out to watch what they could see of the Flight. ************************** Strath gave a heaving sigh and lifted up, walking slowly to the ledge and dropping off. Amirinth Flies, I Chase. Let's see how this works for you D'lis.D'lis grinned and got up from the bed, grabbing a shirt on the way out. To K'laon's weyr then, he didn't really like men...but dragons didn't really care. Strath flew lazily out to the challenge bugle. He bugled back as he caught up, flying not too far to the back. He wasn't going to expend himself getting here like Roluth had. Shame really, that Blue seemed to like this Green a lot.
Strath rumbled to the Green, a little lazy in his tone but he had just woken up from a nap not too long ago. Let us have some fun Green Amirinth.

Heverth took off after the green not even to bothering to tell his rider. K'met felt it of course and realized that it was Amirinth through Heverth's feelings. Greens might not be beautiful golds and Violets, but they were good enough. K;met almost immediatly realized that the flier was a male green rider, and that got his ruff up even more. Don't chase the shardin green! Her rider is a shardin male! What would I want with a male! To this, Heverth did reply, since his rider was being unusaully vocal, [color-goldenrod]Mine, I want to catch this green, you never let me chase them, just this once, please, it will be eay for me. Just go to K'loan's room and be good, while I do the work of catching this pretty girl. Then Heverth trumpeted to Amirinth, Ia am yours beautiful green of the sky! Oh I ,your bronze, come to cahse you gorgous green Amirinth, emerald gem of the sky!

Four males? Amirinth was doing better than the Violet had! She hummed happily at this triumph. Even the Bronze that had chased Kelth was present. Amirinth didn't get Bronze chasers often. This was already turning out to be a good Flight.
And all the dragon's were complimenting her too. This was lovely. Well... except the Brown. She didn't know what he meant. He looked like he was still half-asleep too... humph. She didn't need sleepy chasers. What sort of fun, silly Brown? She gave her tail a flick as she spoke to him and twisted suddenly towards the ocean. No more Weyr Bowl for this Flight, only fire-lizards stayed there.
She didn't do anything particularly exciting just yet, but watched the males through the corner of her eye to see if they would perform right from the start. Truth had abandoned Haith for her, Amirinth liked that. He had seemed much too devoted to her at Threadfall, yet here he was tailing her! Very good.
Roluth had been irritating at the start of Thread, but at least started working once it was really falling. She would see how he did. It would take a lot of work to prove himself great as her, oh yes. But she had energy, so they all had plenty of time.
K'laon watched as dragons started appearing in the sky, followed by a rider in his Weyr. The others were apparently slower than C'it... "It looks like Roluth wasn't the only one." He chuckled and gazed at the sky again. She would be very happy about having a Bronze suitor... but K'laon wasn't sure how much he liked K'met. He was Weyrlingmaster anyways, and for some reason that seemed like it would have an effect on things.

Truth at least had a little bit of concern for His, Amirinth's rider was male, and that was what His preferred. Though, had K'alon been female, Truth wouldn't have cared all that much if Amirinth's rider had been female. It was the green he was chasing, it was her beauty he wanted, not her rider. Crooning softly to her as she spun in the direction of the ocean, Truth forced his wings to obey that, following her easily. Yes, he was a little sore and tired, but he could beat them all even on a bad day!
Crooning again, the little blue twisted sharply in the air for her, after all, she had seen how quick and agile he was in Thread, he had fought by her side, as her 'second. So he didn't really need to go all out to prove himself, still, he was going to anyway. He couldn't quite tell if she was pleased with the fact he was chasing, His was always saying females stuck together, that wasn't always the case though.
Such a lovely, green temptress. Truth glanced at the other competitors and nearly laughed. A bronze, bronze's never caught greens, or very rarely. Green's wanted speed and agility not strength. Browns, no, they weren't fast enough and didn't have the added mettalic sheen. The blue though, the blue could be a problem. Growling softly at Roluth, Truth quickly switched his attention to Amirinth once more. Glorious Amirinth, you fly wonderfully. Beautifully, no male is worthy to be in your presence. I shall strive my hardest to be sought semi worthy.
F'ynch was making his way to K'laon's weyr, turns of practice keeping his mind seperate from his dragon until he got there. Once there, he was only relieved to see it was indeed K'laon and for all Truth's needling, K'laon was indeed male. Nodding at the riders there, F'ynch leaned against the wall casually, his movements much like Truth's. Truth was assured he'd win, and when that happened, F'ynch would move in to claim his prize, until then, he watched with eyes dark with desire as he allowed his mind to flow into Truth's.

Strath gave a gurgle to Amirinth. Any kind and as much as possible beautiful Green. Strath glided out of the Bowl. Hmm...nothing special yet. Time for Strath to up this Flight's excitement!
He did a corkscrew down, nearly hitting the ground and came back up to take the place right behind Amirinth. Easily. He could outsmart all the other males. He was a strategist! No way anyone but this beautiful Green was better than him!************************ Roluth would follow Amirinth anywhere. Naturally he followed her out of the Bowl to greater heights and even did a nice little loop for her to maybe get a glimpse of. Nothing surprised him more than Strath popping up to get in front of him though.
Roluth growled at the Brown. This dragon was lazy! He wasn't worthy of Amirinth! Dear Amirinth, I can only prove so much. I am not worthy to Fly with you, but give this Blue a chance.C'it smiled at Roluth's words. Such a sap. C'it was getting a little affected by the Flight now, his face blushed and his thoughts on nothing but winning the Flight.

K'met was mad at Heverth at first, for the rider was male, but he soon got over his hesitation as flight lust took over, but his natural shyness still had him not crowding. He would stay right where he was...
Heverth flew gently after the green, his huge wings making ones powerful stroke do twice the work of all the littler dragon's many strokes. He knew he was big and he used it to his full advantage, making all his flying efortless, and maybe doing a few wide sweeping spins, using his big wings to catch the air like a sail and spin him easily and gently in a roll, without any real work on his part, just showing off how well his massive body could fly. He then said to the green, Beauty green of the sky, fly well. Oh yes, he just hung back and allowed her her lead, as the greens should always be given their space to show off for their suitors.

Amirinth’s eyes whirled cheerfully as she watched the males. All were doing something, maybe no particularly exciting tricks, but tricks just the same. And it was getting to the time she started testing them a bit more. Suddenly folding her wings, Amirinth dove. They snapped back open above the water, suddenly catching air and flinging her back a little. Recovering, she shot forward again, flying low like no queen would, but as a Green was welcome to. Some dragons had trouble flying low, she had noticed.
Strath had decided to compliment her the last time he had spoken, but he had tried flying too close afterwards. Amirinth was away from him now, but he was low on points. The other males were doing much better; they looked alive. She didn’t know why the Brown was chasing when he looked so tired. Maybe he had something big planned…
How fast can you go, pretty males? Amirinth rumbled and pushed her wings faster, picking up pace. Perhaps they thought keeping up with the little Green would be easy; every dragon chasing her was bigger. Even Truth, who was on the small side of Blues. Amirinth was smaller than the usual small end of Greens. Or perhaps your Amirinthlove should clarify… how fast can you go without messing up?
Twisting, she shot upwards again and suddenly jerked to the left, then the right. But all the Green’s zig-zagged. Amirinth didn’t keep up that pattern, instead she continued heading right. But it wasn’t for long; twisting again she shot higher and then jerked to the side again. From here she set to randomly rolling or zig-zagging one direction or another. Amirinth didn’t only go side to side, her anomalous path carried her up and down too. And, of course, forwards.
The Bronze and Brown would have a test here. Blues might be able to follow her track, although Amirinth suspected even they would have trouble mimicking every surprise she threw in. But to be chased by a Bronze was such an honor, Amirinth wouldn’t mind too much if he couldn’t follow completely. Some Greens didn’t like Bronzes because they weren’t as agile as Blues. But Amirinth loved big dragons. They had the strength to keep up the whole pursuit-part of the Flight, and then continue to make the next half fun. Amirinth had outflown her share of Blues, and could see herself continuing to do so.
Ah, here was F’ynch. K’met hadn’t arrived, maybe he had locked himself in his room to avoid bedding another man. Others might not think it, but Heverth probably did have a good chance in Amirinth’s Flight. And she paid no mind to the rider of the dragon she chose’s interests. K’laon chuckled at the thought. The other riders were here at least.
After taking his little head count, K’laon turned back towards the opening of his weyr, watching the skies. Amirinth had flown over the edge of Nyocia’s old volcano, but it was possible she would come back before ending her Flight. That was a while away though, the Green was only playing right now.

Amirinth flies, girl.
Ketara was taking a basket of her clothes to the Lower Caverns staff to have them washed when Axeth made his announcement.
"Do you Chase, Ax?" she spoke aloud, being in an isolated corridor.
I do.
Where is Amirinth's?
His weyr. Get going.
With that demand, Axeth launched himself after glowing Amirinth, disdainfully brushing off Heverth's presence. The bronze had cowed him once but not now! Not when there was a green to win!
Ketara sighed, and stared at the heavy basket of clothes. Laundry would have to wait until after the Flight. She began the trek to K'laon's weyr, scuffing her feet out of sheer habit. The brushing sounds echoed in the empty corridor.
Axeth wasn't having much trouble following Amirinth, though he was a bit surprised at her departure from what he had catalogued as 'green flight protocol'. As a blue, he was especially flexible when it came to twisting manuvers.
And because he was going for 'impressive points', he didn't stick close behind Amirinth. Instead, he mirrored her, a split second behind, but always keeping up with her.
Finally reaching K'laon's weyr, Ketara set her laundry outside the door, and hesitated. K'laon was her Wingleader, not to mention a full decade older than she was. Indecision took over, and she chewed her bottom lip.
Finally, she decided that she wouldn't go in. Taking hold of the laundry again, she fairly fled down to the Lower Caverns. Leaving the basket with a hurried explanation, she rushed up the steps to her weyr, panting with exertion. She was terrified, and then she was Axeth.

As fast as you demand beautiful Amirinth. Truth's response was immediate and purring, folding his wings in to follow her dive, pulling out only when he absolutely had to. Here, this was where his size came in handy. For really, could a bronze follow her so easily? Could he twist his body as Truth could? Not likely.
Without stuffing up? Hah! Truth never messed up in a Flight, what a silly question, but he supposed she had to ask it of the other stupid males that thought they were any good. Stupid males, and look, Axeth was here. Not much of a challenge, but Axeth was his biggest competition, or so the little blue believed. It probably helped with the hosility that Truth disliked Axeth a little less than others. The blue was sensible, but at this moment, he was still a rival for the glowing gem that was Amirinth.
Twists, turns. They were nothing. Everytime she twisted, Truth was right there mirroring her. Twisting his body, flaring his wings and angling his tail to help with the turns. Yes, this was training was for. Well actually, His thought it was for Thread, but looking at it sensibly, what else would Truth do when it came to flights? Not use the hints he'd worked on? Struggle to make those wingtip turns? Not likely. He'd tire fast enough as it was, using these at least, he wouldn't tire so quickly. Left, right. Up, down. My, but she was a tricky creature wasn't she?
After all, Truth was confident he would win, so there was no need to be possessive, that would only annoy Amirinth. No, F'ynch wouldn't growl, no matter how much he wanted the beautiful green. Where was that stupid bronze anyway?

Roluth gave a croon to Amirinth. Never as graceful or as fast as you Amirinth. Roluth would try to keep up and do his best to follow her movements. But, why copy her exactly...no female wanted a shadow.
Roluth Shot up and left, then right. Zig-zagging where ever Amirinth did. He did not however follow her rolls, instead he gave her small corkscrews to show her that he could be different and keep up. Higher, and higher...this Green wasn't going to make it easy. Roluth didn't care. He would last all Flight if it killed him.
He crooned again to her, he followed her up and down...and her zig-zagging with no problem. Maybe they could lose that lazy Brown with all this movement.C'it was gone now. His eyes completely fogged over with the lust coming from the Flight. He couldn't resist a small croon of his own at K'laon, there was nothing that Roluth/C'it wanted more than to win this pair. ********************************* Brown he may be, but Strath wasn't going to give up on this Flight. He wanted Amirinth too much for his own. So, though he lost his first position in the Flight..he copied everything she did.
He zigged and zagged and rolled and even threw in some loops. There was nothing that could stop him now, he was still full of energy. Now that most of the tricks were over though...he could focus on regaining position.
He gave powerful strokes with his wings to pass the others, and took the second position behind the Green beauty. No reason to be hasty. None at all.D'lis shook his head at his dragon's thoughts. Still, he looked over at K'laon and gave a smile. This would be a little awkward in the morning if Strath caught. Yes, it would.

Amirinth snorted irritably. The dragons were following her much to easily. They were all young, stupid creatures, why were they keeping up with her! Why weren't they coming up with their own ideas? Throwing in a couple loops outside following her wasn't creativity. Did they really think it was good to be able to do just what she did?
Well, it wasn't. Amirinth wanted to see them all messing up. She didn't like that they could immitate her, it meant she wasn't doing very well in outsmarting them. That was not good at all. Even Axeth had managed to slip in, she wasn't sure when, she had been so busy trying to make the males mess up, and he seemed to be doing well.
She hated every single one of these males. Roluth kept telling her about how he could not possibly keep up with someone so wonderful, but he was still there, and not messing up enough. What was wrong with this Flight? Did they think it was good to look like they were doing well?!
Amirinth had a good long lesson to teach the five. The best way to prove their worth to a Green was to show she was better. She arced upwards, curving backwards and looping over the males. Pretty pursuers, why are you going that way? She was now headed back towards the Weyr, although for how long would be questionable.
Now, show me why you are worthy of Amirinth.
K'laon sighed softly, Amirinth's influence causing him to glare at all those present. K'met still hadn't shown his face, and was Axeth chasing now? Where was Ketara? Hopefully she would show up.... K'met had reason not to show, but in K'laon's opinon, Ket didn't. After giving the riders present another sour runover, K'laon returned his gaze to the outside. He was probably the only one letting on to the idea that something wasn't right (in Amirinth's mind) in the Flight so far... hopefully the riders wouldn't have too much influence on their dragons or his own might be mad at him later.

Startled, Axeth lost a lot of speed and time as he did a wingover to compensate for Amirinth's change of direction. Pumping his wings harder than before, he crooned soothingly.
Gladly, sweet thing!
He didn't fight for height, instead, he actually went low, closer to the ground. Perhaps the sneaky appraoch would help him, because he knew nothing else would!

Hmmm....prove the worth of himself to Amirinth? Strath wasn't too sure about all that. It sounded like too much work...he really didn't want to work that much. On the other wing, Amirinth was a very beautiful Green....
Faranth! The Flight had turned around while he had been thinking! He turned on his wing and gurgled. He would stay. Now though, he needed to catch up and perform for this Green.
He beat his wings and shot forward, then as he came up right behind Amirinth, he flew beside her and then twisted over her. Under her, he went...then he twisted again to fly right in front of her and take a place right behind her. That might have made her mad.D'lis had no idea what to think now and it was harder to think. All he could see was a double of Amirinth and K'laon. *********************************** Roluth shot around to follow Amirinth. Of course he would do something to prove his worth! He shot up to a thermal and into a cloud. He only stayed in there to gather a good bit of water onto his hide.
Now for a little shower. For you my beautiful Green. He placed himself above her and then did a good few twirls to shower her with the droplets. They were glowing from her hide. The water droplets are made beautiful by your hide Amirinth. Roluth gave a croon as he went back to position and continued to follow the progression of the Flight.

As Amirinth changed teh position, flipping back so she was flying teh other way, Truth did something he hadn't done in turns. He made a sound that was almost a squawk, and attemtpted to flip over. It didn't work as well as he would have hoped, and the blue had to tuck his wings in and roll to come back in behind her. If she mentioned it, he would be seriously embarrassed, very embarrassed, dragons were not supposed to stuff up in Flight. Truth didn't usually, but then, when had been the last time he'd tried to flip? Turns, maybe more. Twists and turns were needed more.
Anything you wish Amirinth. Truth's voice was a low purr as he fought to regain what speed he'd lost and what points he surely had in his stuff up. Snorting at Roluth in an annoyed manner, why did they always have to be showy? Truth was happy sticking to his tricks that he knew worked, twists, turns and rolls. They worked fine for him.
Still, something told him that his mistake was not the only one he was going to make in this fast flight for the glowing green. Though, if he wasn't mistaken, Roluth had either just bought major points or ruined his chances all together. Well, either one, Truth was going to keep flying, keep chasing. He wanted Amirinth, and so far it was a level playing field, there was nothing setting one above the other. Nothing.
F'ynch finally got up off teh wall, wincing at the sharp pain that went through his back as Truth flipped and strained his wings. Well, he was hurting for her, wasn't that a good thing?

Heverth just gently wove back and forward, not carrying to strain himself trying to do tight turns. His big wings easily ate ground, but he controlled his wings, so that he was just a follower. T make up for his not doing tight turns he did a nice barrel roll, and a sort of flying on his back before re righting himself. When Amirinth turned around, Heverth was taken by surprise and he took a little while to turn, but once he had turned, he used his big wings to move quickly and catch back up. Amirinth was a very agile dragon, and he knew she was better than he was, and he didn't even feel like he needed to tell her that. He did a lazy corkscrew to show his endurance, strength, and muscling off, before righting himself and just simply responding to Amirinth, "How could we be worthy of you when you are the most agile of us all?" Heverth simply just kept flying, knowing that he had plenty of energy left, but that he could nowhere near do the turns to impress the pretty green that glittered in the sun. K'met continued to sit in the back, as hidden as possible. He really hoped that his dragon wasn't chosen. But of course, sometimes these greens liked the bronzes. Once he was part of Heverth though, he worried no more, hoping that the green would soon be his. Oh no, he was not afraid to show his face anymore.

Amirinth watched all the males absently, now growing more concentrated on keeping aloft as she got more tired. Axeth was flying below, she had no idea what he was doing. Roluth had gotten her wet; was that supposed to be nice? Heverth was showing off his strength a bit more than she would have liked, he was being lazy about it now. Strath had nearly cut her off with his own antic, and now he was flying too close.
Pretty Blue, Amirinth spoke to Axeth, Mine wonders where Yours is. And Amirninthlove wonders what you are doing way down there. If he thought he was going to be sneaky... he wasn't. These males all failed. At least most of them had messed up when she turned around, that had been funny to watch.
But the mistake was over, and Amirinth was still bothered by how perfect these dragons seemed to think they were, despite their flowery words. Her Flight probably couldn't go on much longer, and she didn't want any of these males to catch her.
This time, Amirinth spoke to all of them. My clowns, you haven't put on much of a show for Amirinthlove. The lovely Brown has begged for fun, so give the pretty Green some. She rumbled softly, wondering what they would make of this. In the meanwhile, Amirinth fell to using usual Green antics, zig-zagging and twisting, lots of sharp turns and no pattern at all. She didn't want the males to follow, she had given them their command. But if her Flight was ending soon, she might as well make it interesting for herself in the meanwhile.
((And... Sparrow's failing muse gives her no ideas for K'laon so he is now chuckling evilly to himself... I just can't think of something to write along with that.))

Heverth was trying to follow, but also trying to please Amirinth. THe green was doing a ton of hard twists that were making him look like a fool while he was trying to desperately do some easy corkscrews and twists, and flying upside down, but it strained him slightly because of his big size. Every turn and twist and zig-zag he had trouble and he would sort of fall way out for it. Now he definitely looked like a clown, trying to keep up. He had energy, just not turn, and turn was showing on him. Oh yes, he could go for much longer, but her did not have the ability to do tight turns because his big body and big wings had trouble handling it. He was also having trouble avoiding other dragons. All in all, he was not super proud of his ability of flying after a green and he had pretty much decided that he was not going to fly after anymore greens unless he caught this one.

Mine? Mine? Axeth has no idea, probably giggling over Amirinthlove.
Axeth didn't waste too much time wondering where Ketara was, even though it would only take a moment to find out. Instead, he angled his wings up, nearly getting bowled over as Amirinth settled into typical green flight moves.
He followed her, slightly off to the side. His wings fouled him as he attempted to follow her through a roll, and he nearly dropped out. No! He would stick it out, even if he was up against a bronze and a brown!
((And Friar has new muse for Ket...*scurries*))
