R'mer was...feeling very isolated of late. Of course, he had Tinth. And he had his firelizard.
It was human company he seemed to be having problems finding. He was almost wishing Tinth would catch a green, because even the company of a woman for a night would beat an empty bed...
...and he had never imagined thinking like that. Of course, he would prefer that the green be, say, Amirinth or Freyjath. T'mar was kind of cute.
So were a couple of the Candidates, but knowing his luck they would Impress males. On top of that...he could not remember when he had just sat down and talked to somebody.
It was about time for noonmeal, and he was making the effort to sit down in the dining hall rather than grab it and run as he so often did. The plump bluerider, his firelizard perched on the table in front of him, watched the crowd. Maybe there would be some homesick Candidate glad to sit down with anyone who seemed friendly...especially somebody who could tell them more about being a dragonrider.

OOC: Although I feel kind of lame ending one thread with you and then directly joining another... xP
Even had Aleyi been aware of R'mer's thoughts of having a Candidate for a lunch companion, she probably wouldn't have thought twice about plunking down next to R'mer with her own plate of food and her usual trio of fire-lizards. "Hey R'mer, I haven't seen you in a while."
Pip was the only one who echoed her greeting, Tuck not wanting to betray his presence with noise and Brooke spontaneously deciding she was above saying hello to anyone, especially friend's of Aleyi's. The Green quickly found herself far more interested in saying hello to Thunder though and trotted over to the Blue.
"What've you been up to? Past the obvious, anyways." There were plenty of things out there that a rider had to be up to, and since she and R'mer had about the same duties, they would hardly be interesting to hear about.

"Not much. Not enough," the bluerider, admitted. "Tinth has been a bit moody lately."
He suspected it was lack of catching of greens. But then, Tinth did not need a reason to be morose...sometimes he just seemed to feel like being it.
"How's Jerglith?" he added. He had not seem that much of the darker blue of late...quite a lot of shades darker than Tinth, that one. A very nice looking dragon, all told...of course, he thought Tinth was perfect, but if he kind of squinted, he could see through the bias. A little.
The bias, of course, was perfectly natural. He was *supposed* to be biased in favor of his own dragon, after all. Especially when it was a blue as gorgeous as Tinth.
Of course, he had no intention of talking *shop* with Aleyi. What could be more boring?

“Well, that’s dull.” Aleyi shook her head. “Although hasn’t Tinth always been a bit moody?” Or at least always ready and willing to change his mood, which was more her definition of the word. Brooke was moody, though generally in the haughty range of things. “At least somewhat, anyways.” It did, now that she was thinking about it, seem to have a negative tone.
“Jerglith’s his usual self, but we haven’t really been doing much lately either so I guess he’s bored too.” Jerglith had his fazes, but Aleyi didn’t quite feel like calling him moody. “We should have gotten together to do nothing and maybe we would have ended up doing something.” It was something that had always worked for her in the past.
“We need a few Flights to liven up the place. I bet catching a Green would cheer Tinth up.” Aleyi laughed. Jerglith, on the other hand, seemed to be happy enough having won Mermaiyeth, even if that could be seen now as happening a while ago.

"Tinth hatched moody, yeah. It's the way he is, and I wouldn't trade him." R'mer flickered the other bluerider a grin.
"And it probably would...I think that's part of it anyway. Is Freyjath close to being old enough? T'mar's kind of cute."
He thought T'mar was not one who cared about the gender of his bedmate, although he could be remembering it wrong. "Amirinth has to be coming up on due too, although K'laon...so too old for me." He winked at Aleyi.
He felt comfortable talking about guys around her, although he wasn't honestly sure whether she prefered men or women. He'd never asked, and the fact that she rode blue made the latter somewhat more likely. Somewhat.

"Freyjath? She was from Nayarath's last clutch, wasn't she? I don't know." How long had it been? ((How long has it been? *falls* That hatching was back in July, but Jorindath's Flight was just before it too, I think, so it seems like... technically not much time could have passed and yet it has. xP)) Time had been quite literally dragging lately, and Aleyi had little desire to keep track of it.
"Jerglith did comment that Amirinth was looking brighter than usual the other day though. We were down at the lake, and, well, everyone knows when Amirinth's at the lake. She throws it across the whole Weyr, I swear." Not that she minded the Green getting herself on her or Jerglith's bad side; Aleyi had even less interest in ending up in K'laon's bed than R'mer could. "But that would be really creepy to wake up to him. I mean, not only is he old, he looks like a toad."
What did his mother look like? That was an even more frightening thought.
"I guess it's not something I have to worry about though. I'm not interested in men and Jerglith's not interested in Greens. No competition for Tinth from us there." She grinned. "Even if it does give you better chances of catching Amirinth too."

(OOC: They'd still be about three months, then...eep)
"Oh yes, Jerglith has that thing about going after barreds, doesn't he. Tinth doesn't care. I think he might even try for a sky, although I think he's a bit small there."
R'mer considered K'laon's appearance for a moment. "He is rather...less than attractive, isn't he. On the other hand, I'm rather less than involved with anyone right now."
Which was as close as he was going to come to admitting that he was pretty horny. He needed to find some nice young holder lad who needed an outlet for passions forbidden there. It was a shame Tinth didn't have Search sense to use as an excuse...

(OOC: Well, that’s extremely lame. xP)
Aleyi laughed. "He might be. But I don't know, Jerglith might go after Skies too. I think he just doesn't like Greens. But with those other colors, they'll definitely have some competition." The Charcoals and Teals were already showing themselves to be at least slightly larger than the Blues, and of course Skies were. Blues wouldn’t have a whole lot of chance. Barreds and Greens were perfect enough for them though, she wasn’t complaining.
As for Jerglith's bias against Greens, the best Aleyi could figure was that it went along with his dislike of fire-lizards. The Blue could be a bit flighty himself, but apparently he couldn't stand it at all in other dragons.
“Less than attractive…” Aleyi shook her head, grinning. “Although I guess I don’t have much say.” She wasn’t the one who looked for attractive men. Still, she always had to laugh a little at manners sometimes. K’laon took full advantage of his ‘less than attractive’ appearance, anyways. If he didn’t care, neither did she.
“You sure do worry a lot about all that.” She absently held a bit of meat just out of Tuck’s reach, trying in vain to tempt the shy Brown off her shoulder. “More than Brooke even, and I think. I don’t even know if I’m involved with anyone right now, and I think that’s worse, but I don’t really worry about it.” Not too much, anyways. Aleyi had never been fond of worrying over things.

R'mer shrugged. "Maybe it's because I don't have a weyrmate, would rather like one, and don't see that many likely candidates. Seems most of the cute guys are either weyrlings, straight, or too old for me."
Most of them seemed to be straight, but that was always the way. "I'm sure you have the same problem with girls...with all the really cute ones being straight, that is."
Of course, the majority of people were straight. Fortunately, as somebody had to have the children. Not that R'mer didn't think he could maybe force himself to sleep with a woman, but why? There were plenty of other men who would enjoy doing it. If he fathered a child it would be the result of a flight, most likely.
If he wanted to hang out with kids, he could always sneak into the creche. The crecheworkers certainly did not seem to mind. And the kids enjoyed meeting those adult riders that found the time to bother with them. Which was not that many.
Riders, after all, seldom raised their own offspring.

"Well, I don't know." Aleyi shrugged. She really wasn't interested enough to pay a whole lot of attention to all the potential bedmates there were to be found at Nyocia. "It's not something I think about a whole lot."
"But I think you just said K'laon was cute, unless you have someone else in mind that’s too old for you." Aleyi laughed. She couldn't think of anyone off the top of her head, unless he had met some rogue male Greenrider. "Maybe you'll get K'dric. I think something has to be up for a guy to Impress a Barred." Considering that he was the only one, anyways.
The whole conversation felt like a bit of a strange one to her. Aleyi liked to be friends with boys, but trying to come up with other boys they could find attractive was harder. It seemed much more like the sort of conversation girls would have; she had always only joked with boys about who was or wasn’t good-looking before coming to the Weyr, and the subjects of those jokes had always been female.
“Sorry I can’t be of much help.” Aleyi finally relented and handed the scrap to Tuck, who eagerly gobbled it down. She could do as little for the irritating Brown as she could for T’mar, it seemed, but what was there to really be done? Aleyi couldn’t change the very characters of people.

R'mer shook his head. "I think K'dric is straight, actually. Odd as that might be. He needs a bisexual female bluerider, not me."
A pause. "And no. K'laon's not cute. Not really." He paused. "Your brown, on the other hand, is rather cute. Where the heck did my blue get to? The small one, that is."
He wasn't sure where Thunder was hanging out these days. The blue was pretty independent. He tended to show up if he wanted something or if R'mer put a huge effort into calling him. Not nearly as loyal as some of the firelizards around the Weyr.
Well, he could always get another one and make the little guy jealous. Then maybe he'd come back. A barred had flown recently, maybe he could bribe an egg out of her owner. Maybe.

OOC: Holy cow, I don't know what I was thinking earlier but apparently I came down with a case of Clutch Confusion? *flails* For some reason I thought Norse Legends were the latest clutch, but they would have graduated by now (although still only very recently), like I think we've been thinking . xP Mindfail.
"Well, I don't know him." But it still seemed suspicious to her. "I guess we do have those though, and Brownriders too." All in all, it wasn't that hard for a guy to ride a female dragon and still be straight, and vise versa.
"Tuck? Well, I guess. I'd like it if he got off my shoulder a little more often though." Tuck chirped uncertainly and pressed closer to her neck. Aleyi couldn't help but think, sometimes, that he was more of a pain than Brooke. At least Jerglith liked him. "And... well, I don't know that either."
All her fire-lizards liked keeping close to her, but Aleyi definitely wouldn't mind it if they decided to be a little more independent. "Pip would be happy to find him if you want though, I bet." The complete opposite of her clutch-brother, it was rare to find something she didn't want to do.

OOC: Freyjath should fly, then! We could use a good greenflight.
"He'll show up when he wants something, like I said," R'mer muses. "Assuming he doesn't find a green or barred to chase, that is."
Any blue alive would drop everything for a pretty tail. Dragons were a little more disciplined, but not much. Certainly, Tinth was primed to chase whichever green rose next and determined to catch her, too. Although R'mer was rather glad he didn't have Jerglith's peculiarity.
After all, all but one of the barred riders had the wrong plumbing to interest him. "Tuck is very cute...but a bit lazy, is he?"

OOC: That would be fun. I've been meaning to make Amirinth, but, as you can see, haven't gotten around to it... so feel free to. xD I just worry that all she'll have to chase are Browns and your dragons.
"Well, Pip would be happy to flirt with him if he shows up too." Aleyi laughed. Ever since the idea struck her, the little Green had done nothing but tease the males, even though she had yet to rise.
Pip ought to soon though, and so should Brooke, although there was no hiding that Aleyi looked forward to the Green's Flight far more than the Gold's. Brooke got so nasty when she had eggs to guard, but it was hard to even imagine Pip being at all grumpy about anything.
Tuck ducked his head nervously when he heard his name, his eyes whirling with embarrassment at being called lazy. Aleyi shrugged. "I don't know. He's just so shy, I don't even know where he got it. I'm pretty sure he was from a Barred's clutch- Spunky? But I guess growing up with Brooke hovering over you would make anyone afraid to do anything."
The Gold glared sharply at Aleyi, but what sort of a comeback was that?

OOC: Well...Freyjath wouldn't mind a brown!
"Who knows. Although some blues are shy...shyness is a bit of a color trait with them." R'mer shrugged. "Not Tinth. At least...not most of the time. You know what he's like."
Everyone knew that one never knew which Tinth, as it were, one was going to get. Some days quiet, some nasty. He almost seemed to not have the one personality, or as if he just could not make his mind up what kind of dragon he was going to be at any given time.
Well. R'mer was used to it by now. Tinth had, he thought, chosen somebody who could handle him. They always knew. He wondered how, sometimes, given they were new-hatched beings.
But they seemed to.

OOC: I'm sure, lol. It just seems kinda funny that you're pretty-much our only active player with a Blue (excepting Jerglith, since T’mar wouldn’t be interested in him winning even if he did chase C;).
Aleyi smiled. “Yeah. And Brown’s are generally quiet, so maybe it’s not too strange. I hope he gets over it eventually though.” Maybe if he ever caught a female he’d toughen up a bit, but it was hard to say how Tuck would ever actually catch someone while he was so anxious.
“And as for dragons… well, I think I’d rather have my picky Blue over one that can’t decide what he is.” She laughed. “Tinth must be such an adventure.” Of course, most dragons were, some just went a bit beyond the call of duty.
Jerglith didn’t so much; generally once he made up his mind on something he stuck with it. His problem was just that he had to see and learn about every little thing he could possibly put an opinion too. It had been a relief to have him outgrow traveling around inside, so he couldn’t go sticking his nose into every little thing anymore.

R'mer laughed. "Well, I love him. And he wouldn't have picked me if I couldn't handle his...quirks. Any more than Jerglith would have picked you..."
He wondered for a moment if it was not Aleyi's preferences that influenced Jerglith to be more interested in the barred dragons. There were, after all, far more male-ridden greens than barreds. "Jerglith's picky about other things than which tails he chases? I know he's a lovely color...not as lovely as Tinth."
Then again, the two shades of blue did not really compare well. Tinth was almost steel-colored and Jerglith was much more the classic blue.

"Yeah, dragons are good about that." Sometimes they would bond with someone and it seemed immediately obvious why and that they would be perfect together. Other times it wasn't, but things always worked out, and Aleyi enjoyed seeing how it all worked. As for her and Jerglith... well, it had always seemed like a perfect match to her.
"Um... I guess so. Yeah, he is actually, a little bit. Not that bad though." Aleyi didn't think a whole lot on all her dragon's minor quirks. To her, Jerglith was just Jerglith, and she liked it that way. Was he a little picky though? Yes. He liked things his way... luckily he was pretty agreeable about what his way was.
"And I don't know what color has to do with his pickiness, but I think Jerglith's a much better shade than Tinth." She laughed, joking. She preferred her own dragon, as all rider's did, but would never seriously insult someone else's. It's not like there was any helping what color their dragon was.

"Is there a rider alive who does not think their dragon is the best possible and imaginable shade of his or her color?" R'mer pointed out, cheerfully.
"I mean. Tinth is a lot lighter than Jerglith, and that suits me fine." Then he laughs. "You know Gwen, right? The white rider? I hear almost the first words out of her mouth about the matter were 'Well, white goes with everything'."
Gwen was notoriously vain about her appearance. So was her dragon...which no doubt had something to do with why the white had chosen her. It had been a surprise to everyone...to even see a white dragon at all, that is.

"If there is, something is seriously wrong with them." Aleyi shook her head, grinning. "I doubt it though." Who couldn't think their dragon was the best? She wasn't sure it was possible.
A laugh burst from her. "Well, I don't actually know Gwen, but from what I hear, that does sound like her." White goes with everything... blue went pretty well with nearly everything too. Jerglith's blue especially, since it was nothing but pure, bright blue.
Not that she often took the time to coordinate clothes with her dragon, but the thought did come to her head sometimes. Brooke chirped sarcastically. More like never. Anyways, if Aleyi were going to match anyone, she should match her Gold. Who rode on her shoulder? Such a thing made her far more deserving.
