"Ouch." Not getting hurt was definitely one of Jackie's goals at the hatching. Not above Impressing though. If her dragon wanted to knock her into the Sands and scratch her up, she'd take it. If someone else's wanted to that though... she wouldn't be so pleased.
"He looks like he might," Jackie noted, trotting along behind Dacien. There was definitely a difference in bulk between the two, and, if she was any judge, Tacien looked far more serious. Less her type already.
---
Kora shook her head, "No, it's not very hard. Nayarath has simply never seen a pair quite as alike." Dacien was back again and it was easy to compare them. Together, they did look quite different. Separate, it could be harder to judge, or at least to forget and mix up the names. Nayarath lowered her head to sniff at them, eyes whirling curiously.
Merely judging by appearances, Kora was pretty sure she could trust Dacien's words about his brother. No matter how alike a pair looked, being silly or serious would alter that. "There's nothing wrong with being responsible," Kora chided softly. That was what the Bronzes preferred, which meant it was what Nayarath preferred, and Kora too.
"Yes." Kora smiled, and nodded to Jackie, who was hovering curiously behind the pair. Nayarath watched the Candidates head off again. I like the bigger one more.
Jackie felt a little awkward stuck with twins that apparently had some issue between them. Maybe she would go visit the queen egg... but she was also curious about this showing up thing, and the stiffness. "Meagen would get him in trouble for sure if he didn't," she ended up adding, feeling a little stupid. "I've got plenty of experience and you don't want to get in trouble with her."
Maybe that would at least change the subject.

Tacien flashed a small, genuine smile in Kora's direction at her low comment. The softening in his eyes faded as Dacien dragged him off, gesturing to the eggs and grinning for all the world like a love-sick puppy who had just found his favorite toy. "Dacien, introduce me to your friend." It's rude not to, was the obvious undercurrent as he raised a brow at his brother. "She's feeling out of place in all this twin-ness." Dacien had never understood why people felt awkward around them, but Tacien was a bit more perceptive in that manner.
Stopping in midsentence, Dacien introduced them. "Jackie, this is my brother Tacien. He's been traveling. Just got back, finally." He gave a lop-sided grin and pointed another egg out to his brother.
"Lovely to meet you, Jackie," he commented under his breath in the second Dacien was quiet.
"Here, Tacien. You'll like this one." Dacien pointed out the ember egg, a larger one with intense colours.
No matter how different they became as they grew, Tacien hated to admit that his brother still knew him. Running his hands over the egg carefully, he let just a tiny bit of wonder show before turning back to Jackie and his brother. "Have you known each other long?" Tacien was doing his older brother thing- mainly making sure his flirtatious brother wasn't pulling the bag over the pretty young woman's head.
Dacien stared for only a second before laughing. "I just met her, don't get your hide in a bunch, Tacien."
"That's never stopped you before," was the droll reply as Tacien glanced out over the eggs again.

Jackie turned to Tacien, wondering a bit why he seemed to always speak under his breath but also curious about things he maybe would talk about. "You've been traveling? Where?" She had traveled one place, that was the Weyr, and it had happened in the blink of an eye. It was exciting but also sometimes a bit disappointing how quickly dragons traveled.
She eyed the Ember egg when they paused by it but didn't think that happening to stop here gave her reason to touch it. Dacien had brought Tacien to it, not her, so she waited. Could there be Skies in this clutch? Maybe she should have visited more of the big eggs. It was a bit late for that now though.
Jackie laughed at Tacien's question too. "All of five minutes." It did make Tacien sound older brother-y, which Dacien had warned her about. Maybe Tacien's travels would turn out to be exciting, but she definitely liked Dacien more.

"Most of the area around this weyr and a few of the holds, as well." Tacien shrugged. "Really just about anywhere that I could get to on foot, since I don't have a dragon to help me out." Turning from Dacien and Jackie, Tacien quietly and thoughtfully made his way around the eggs, touching one or two now and then, seeming to take his time.
"He acts like the world rests on his shoulders," Dacien told Jackie, leaning his weight on one hip as he watched his brother. "Were there any more you wanted to see?" He glanced around. "I don't know how much longer they'll put up with us here." He gestured his chin to the gold and her rider, smiling at Jackie, his attention on her fully for the time being.

That wasn't quite the story Jackie had been hoping for. "I guess he can do a lot more a lot faster once he's got a dragon then," she commented absently as Tacien left them. It would be a Turn or two before he could do that though, with all the weyrling training. Jackie wasn't exactly looking forward to that.
"Well, I'm glad you don't." People like that were ultimately irritating to be around, she had just discovered. She looked over the eggs, and then back at Nayarath. "No, I think I got to all the ones I wanted. We should probably go before Nayarath changes her mind about eating someone."
They weren't doing much, so they would be top on her list.

"Sounds good," Dacien replied candidly. He knew well enough that a gold should not only be adored and respected, but also a little feared. Especially when you were wandering around her prized clutch. "Tacien can find his own way around, I'm sure." He waved his hands in the air, wiggling his fingers. "Big time explorer and all."
As they exited the sands, Dacien shrugged a little after a brief silence. "He doesn't like to talk about his travels all that much. It's like it hurts him." He was confused by it, but he somehow picked up tinges of pain in his twin when they discussed it. Perhaps all the destruction had gotten to him after all the turns.

"Oh, of course." Jackie laughed and followed him off the sands. She felt a little bad about not even waving to Kari, but they shared the same barracks and had plenty of time together. She could make up for it later.
"Really?" Jackie liked mysteries. "I wonder why." She would have to find out sometime. She didn't doubt she would be seeing him again... which only left the problem of getting him to talk, which would probably be a big one. That was another thing she could deal with later. For now, her high priority was letting her feet recover.

Karisna was paying attention to a small egg with red markings on it that she had decided was probably a green when she realized some of the other Candidates were starting to leave the Sands. She glanced up...was it over?
When would they hatch? They had felt very hard to her, so soon, surely. Right now, they were only eggs, even the queen. Potential.
Potential to change her life and Jackie's...and those two guys who were so clearly brothers, Searched together. She hoped they both Impressed. It would suck if only one of them did, leaving the other waiting.
As she had been left waiting, but she reminded herself again how few female dragons there had been in that clutch. She was not meant for a male...she was sure of that.
Her eyes flicked to the queen egg again. She wasn't sure she had the confidence to attract a queen...
Well. It was not her decision. She touched the small egg once more in farewell and moved to follow the other Candidates off the Sands.

Tessarah noticed that the other Candidates had begun to leave. She couldn't expect that Nayarath would want them to hang around all day anyway. She glanced at the eggs once more, gave a solemn pat to one, and then proceeded to leave from the hatching grounds. She was glad for the experience of getting to see Nayarath's eggs before they hatched. It was odd to think it would be just a few sevendays before the eggs would hatch and reveal what was hidden inside of them. That was what she was here for. It was odd that she could forget that sometimes.
She'd never been to a hatching before, but she expected it would be something worth coming for. A moment she would never forget even if she was left Standing.
And if she wasn't, then somewhere, inside one of those eggs, there was a hatchling for her.
