Spunky had laid *ten* eggs. Why, that was as many as Lilac had the last time.
Gwen was, thus, inordinately proud of her firelizard. Ten eggs to give away, and now...they were clearly about to...
...and one moved. Spunky eyed it as if she did not imagine that it would dare do such a thing, and hissed. Oh no, you can't hatch yet.
"They're going to hatch whether you want them to or not." Tap. A different egg, stirring into a third. Gwen had carefully placed them in a basket next to Tyrth's couch.
The white dragon eyed them, not with suspicion, but with interest, then experimentally tried a hum.
"Tyrth, love, be a dear and send out through the dragon grapevine that I have firelizards needing homes here."
Tyrth lifted his head. Hey, everyone, firelizards! Come get one! That duty fulfilled, he went back to trying different notes of hum.
Spunky? She kept glaring at her eggs. How *dare* they hatch!

Aleyi! Jerglith suddenly jerked his head up and almost jumped right out of the lake as he swung his entire body towards the weyrling barracks. His rider, caught in the waves created by the large Blue's sudden movement, spluttered and struggled to keep her footing.
"What?" The dimglow. Baths didn't have to end with both of them soaking, although Jerglith hadn't quite realized that yet, apparently. Brooke, from her safe, dry perch on the lakeshore, gurgled.
Tyrth says the little Barred's eggs are hatching! We should go Impress a Blue!
"I think Brooke is more than enough." Jerglith didn't even like fire-lizards, his obsessive desire to have a miniture Blue in the family would never make sense to Aleyi.
She'll be nicer with another flitt to order around, Jerglith replied sagely. Apparently he had been thinking this over for some time.
"And they're hatching now?" Of course, they had to do it when she was soaking wet. No flitt in it's right mind (supposing they did actually have one) would want to Impress some sopping wet girl with an overexcited Blue and an excessively-queen Gold.
Jerglith's head bobbed. Of course they are! Let's go! No, it didn't matter that his bath was half done and his hide was shining with oil in some places and utterly lacking it in others. Jerglith was already trotting out of the lake- and splashing Aleyi further- and it didn't look like there was much she could do about it. Likely a dragon couldn't Impress a fire-lizard, but her Blue wouldn't be happy if they didn't come out with another one.
"Fine." Aleyi trudged out of the water and did her best to squeeze what water she could from her hair and clothes as they headed for the weyrling barracks. "Brooke, go grab some food in case some flitt actually does come." The Gold, acting oddly agreeable, disappeared between.
"Hey Gwen." Aleyi smiled sheepishly at the Whiterider and took up a spot near the back of the room, not wanting to drip all over the floor. Jerglith, not worried in the least and already humming, padded right up to the basket and peered into it. Then he noticed Spunky glaring, and retreated to the safe side of his rider.
I think you're too big to hide behind me now, Aleyi told him with a sigh. Not surprisingly, that comment didn't do anything to displace the Blue's current goal.
((Don't you just love my pointlessly long post? xP And give them anything, or nothing, it's only Jerglith who's worried.))

Hey, everyone, firelizards! Come get one!
A rider in the Lower Caverns snapped his fingers at Velka, and told her to take a big bowl of meat up to the Weyrling Barracks. A fire lizard clutch was hatching, and meat would be needed for the worthies to attach their lizards.
If it wasn't for the opportunity to Impress another fire lizard- the flighty little things were quite good company on the trail, and Rafke- was ready to mate soon? She was looking much brighter lately- Velka would have told the rider off good and proper. She had just gotten cleaned up from driving another lot of dragon feed from the Hold to the Weyr, and wanted to relax a little bit.
She'd actually just finished oiling Disaster, her oldest fire lizard, and her only bronze. Rafke and Hilly gleamed with the musky oil she used primarily for chapped burdenbeasts, but which worked to soothe cracked hide.
"Ah need a bowl o' meat fer th' Hatchin', love."
Velka winked at the kitchen girl who was wielding the meat cleaver at the moment. She squawked at the sudden request, having been humming to herself until just moments before.
"C-certainly. J-just a moment, please."
She dashed around the kitchen, trying to find a big enough bowl to give the rough-looking herder. When she found it, she laid waste to the leg she was chopping for stew, and soon had the container heaped with meat.
"Is that enough?" the girl asked, worry evident in her cracking voice. Velka smiled, and nodded her thanks. She took the bowl, and set it on her hip. The added weight gave her a sway to her step that was not there normally.
_~_
Disaster grabbed a gobbet of meat in his powerful hind legs, and offered it to translucent Hilly. She accepted the offering, only to be attacked by truculent Rafke. The greens were not getting along with Rafke so close to mating...
_~_
Velka arrived in the Weyrling Barracks quickly, the underside of her arm nicely numbed by the constant pressure of the bowl. To her shock, the rider whose eggs were hatching was the candidate who had nearly started a fight at Lilac's hatching. She'd baited Meagan until the brown weyrling snapped. Idly, the herder wondered if she'd grown up at all.
"Hatchlin's gen'rlly 'preciate meat, yknows." was her only introduction. Her squabbling greens were already there, humming a welcome to the about to hatch eggs.

Gwenduinne was not a candidate now. She was a weyrling. And her dragonet, the purest of whites, was watching the eggs and thrumming slightly.
In the meantime, Spunky seemed determined to stop them from hatching! She pounced on the most active, and...*crack*.
A little brown emerged from the egg, coming face to face with...ick. That was his mother, and while wild firelizards might bond to their dams, there were far more interesting things out there.
Gwen herself frowned...both of those who had shown so far already had firelizards, but there was a hatchling out and she couldn't do anything but move back so none of them Impressed to *her*.
The brown shook himself. He gave his mother a glare...and then padded firmly away from her, wings lifted, not looking where he was going until he bumped into...Aleyi.
Yeah, Jerglith was not going to get his wish...it was most definitely a brown firelizard, a darker mahogany shade, and one not in any kind of hurry.
Meanwhile, in contrast, a tiny, tiny blue, no larger than some greens, popped out of another of the eggs. He immediately experimented with his wings and actually managed to get airborne. Zip, fwee...THUD.
He crashlanded...in Velka's bowl of meat. Hrm. This smelled good. Very good. Fly, food, fly...food won, in the end. For now.
A third firelizard began to hatch...this one had the violet markings of a barred, but that was all that could be told as only her head showed up, like the stereotypical image of a hatching dragon. She didn't seem in a hurry to come out the rest of the way...

KethariMine, little Tyrth says little brothers and sisters are hatching Ansraeth thrummed, extending her wings slightly so her Rider could oil closer to where her wing membranes met her body. Would you like to go see? AnsraethLove would like to have a little one around. She flicked her tail, looking at her rider with a somewhat expectant air as the woman stepped back and raised her eyebrow in the dragon's direction.
Kethari smiled slightly. "Alright, I suppose we can go see about Impressing one... do you think we should try and get Aeyr? He's absolutely infatuated by the little creatures, I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to get one." She dropped the rag she had been using to rub oil into Ansraeth's skin as the Green stood, adjusting her wings as she folded them closely against her sides.
AeyrKin mentioned there may be a hatching soon within the labyrinth. It may be easier for him to get one there rather than here if the weyrlings are as excited as they normally are Her eyes whirled knowingly as she slipped out of the weyr that she and Kethari shared, winding through the wide halls.
"That's true..." Kethari said absently, following after her dragon and nearly running into a young woman as the other hurried by. Illia had a shirt held close to her -- another repair that needed done -- though she was nowhere near as loaded as she normally was. "I'm sorry, Rider of Evergreen Light!" she gasped, clearly looking rather startled that, and quickly bowed to Kethari, flustering the woman even as Ansraeth gave an amused thurm from up ahead.
"It's... alright, dear," Kethari blushed slightly as she looked the other over, quite caught off guard by the title. She seemed to be a candidate, thus she doubted the young blonde knew about the hatching flits. Even so, a small chitter attracted her attention and her eyes adverted to the small creature that was hopping between the girl's shoulders. That was one of those kagen creatures, right? So they did make reasonable pets it seemed. "There are firelizards hatch, if you're interested," she gave a warm smile. "You can walk with Ansraeth and myself if you want."
Illia bit her lip for a moment, exchanging a glance with her kagen before nodding slightly. "If you wouldn't mind, m'lady," she said quietly, readjusting her hold on the tunic she had. "I would like that." Kethari smiled again and quickly grabbed the girl's hand, pulling her along as she joined Ansraeth.
••••••••••
They had made a side-stop at the kitchens before arriving at the weyr where Spunky was clutching [and it had certainly taken som persuasion to get the girl -- Illia -- to accept the bowl of meat that Kethari had retrieved for her]. Ansraeth had been rather amused by the entire scene, though the candidate had soon relented, and was now balancing the bowl on top of the tunic she had to repair along with the rather overactive kagen that was bouncing back and forth on her shoulders. Kethari had a much easier time with her bowl considering she didn't really have anything else to carry.
"Hello, everyone," Kethari called warmly as she entered the weyr, Ansraeth beginning to thrum from the position she had accepted, her eyes whirling happily as she welcomed the hatching flitts like most dragons would. The Green's thrum had a noticeable melody-like tone to it, which just went to enforce the meaning of her name 'Rune Singer'.
Illia, on the other hand, had promptly began to bow to anyone [much to Kethari's amusement] as she murmured formal greetings to everyone present. Her kagen had to cling to her white-blonde hair to prevent falling from his companion's shoulder. [/blockquote]

Brooke returned just in time to see Spunky pounce on one of her eggs. The Gold chattered angrily; this was obviously why the Green dragons didn't clutch, they would smash their young! The big Barreds would surely be the same, it was a wonder the fire-lizards clutched. Sniffing in her usual queenly way, the Gold settled on Aleyi's shoulder and dropped a few scraps of meat into her hand. She would scold Hers for being so wet later, Brooke wanted to watch the rest of this.
Jerglith and Aleyi, on the other hand, took a sharp breath when they heard the resounding crack beneath Spunky. What if that was the little Blue they were destined to Impress? What if he got smooshed? That would be no good at all. Jerglith took a nervous step forward, but then a Brown stepped away. Well. He didn't want one of those.
But, apparently, the hatchling didn't care. He strode right up to Aleyi's foot, and although Jerglith gave it the most 'get out of here' look he could muster, it didn't look eager to go away. Aleyi picked up the hatchling and offered it some meat. Brooke looked the hatchling over. She would have preferred a Bronze or Tan, but a Brown would have to do. It was at least better than having another nasty Blue in the family, or another female. The young Gold wanted nothing to do with those nasty smaller females.
How can we name him Little Jergle if he's not a Blue? Jerglith whined. And as if to spite him, a Blue did hatch. But it headed elsewhere. With a heavy sigh, Jerglith flopped to the floor. This wasn't going how he wanted.
I thought you just wanted another flitt so that Brooke would be nicer. Aleyi laughed and tickled her new Brown's chest with a fingertip. He gurgled around his mouthful of meat, and a horrid thought suddenly struck Brooke. What if he started getting more attention than her? She would have to watch this hatchling carefully; he had looked devious and attention-stealing from the moment he crawled from his egg.

The dragon grapevine eventually extended to the Hold, where the old brown Watchdragon received the message. The brown relayed this to his rider, who relayed it to a runner, who brought the news to the Lord Holder. Teval could easily have secured an egg from anyone in the Hold who owned a gold, but he wanted the privilege of saying he had Impressed a fire lizard from a barred clutch, so he had planned to go to the Weyr when such a clutch was laid.
"Thank you, Torryn," Teval said, smiling at the young runner. Ace chirped, jumping to his owner's shoulder. His eyes whirled with the excitement he picked up from his owner. "Ready to get a brother or sister, Ace?" Teval asked the tan as he went to collect some food for the hatchlings. Ace chirped happily, sending Teval a picture of him surrounded by scores of flitts.
"Faranth, Ace, not that many..." Teval chuckled. Tying the meatrolls up in a sack, he headed out to the courtyard. He waved at the Watchrider, who was already waiting with his dragon. "Ready, L'wys?"
"Yes, sir." L'wys smiled dryly. He was one of the Holders who wasn't particularly fond of their new Lord. He patted Taorith's foreleg, and the brown extended it for the Lord Holder to step up onto. Teval mounted with the grace of someone who had done this before, although he didn't move as boldly as the rider himself, despite the fact that L'wys was many turns older than Teval. As always on the back of a dragon, Teval felt a slight twinge of regret. He might have been a rider...but ah well, there was no sense crying over what could have been when he was content enough with his life as it was.
"Remember sir, three coughs," the brownrider said as they lifted off. Teval nodded, steeling himself for the trip between.
They reappeared over the weyrbowl. Taorith circled down slowly, informing the dragon on Watch what their purpose was. After dropping off their passenger, Taorith went to sun and socialize with some other dragons on the Heights. L'wys pointed Teval in the direction of the weyrling barracks, and then went to visit with some friends of his while he waited.
Before going into the barracks, Teval paused to look around the weyrbowl. It was just so impressive. He watched the dragons flying above, wondering how they avoided flying into each other. Then Ace chirped urgently, reminding him of his real purpose here. "Right, Ace. I was getting rather distracted."
He walked through the barracks, lowering his head as he passed the common room, for he didn't want to be recognized and bombarded with questions right now. From the sound of hungry fire lizards inside, it was obvious which room belonged to the clutch owner, but Teval paused at the door. Can I really just walk in? he wondered, feeling a little awkward entering a weyrling's room.
Ace, growing impatient, blinked between and appeared on the other side of the door. Seeing no better perch, the tan alighted on Tyrth's head.
As his fire lizard had already made his presence clear, Teval followed Ace into the room, smiling at those gathered around. "Greetings, weyrfolk..." His eyes fell on Tyrth. "Oh! The White dragon!" His eyes widened with surprise and curiosity, and he moved closer. Then, he realized he was probably being rude. (Which he didn't realize often...being in the Weyr was putting him on his guard.) "Er...right...I'm here for the fire lizard clutch. Ace, get off of the poor dragon's head."
Ace creeled with disappointment, but Teval's shoulder offered his favorite perch, so he obediently changed places.

Tyrth's eyes whirled upwards as he focused on the firelizard, but he didn't seem to mind.
Gwen rose to curtsey briefly to the Lord Holder...who had come all the way here, no doubt, to see what barred firelizards clutched.
Speaking of said barred firelizards, the one that was just a head poking out of the egg slowly crawled out the rest of the way. She lifted her wings, inspecting them, striking a pose.
"Spunky, it's a little you," Gwen commented. The barred, having given up on convincing her children not to hatch, flew over to Teval, circling around him, as if to check his worthiness for one of her children.
So, so far, a brown, a blue, a barred and...crack. A fourth egg split all the way open to reveal much lighter hide.
"Shards, Spunky, you *did* have a good flight." It was undoubtedly...a tan. Not the biggest of that color ever hatched.
The tan immediately knew who he wanted, bold and decisive, he made his way right to Kethari, demanding food of the greenrider with a loud creel.
The barred seemed to take longer, glancing at everyone then, finally, at her mother. It might have seemed as if there was some silent signal between the two, because then, and only then, did the young firelizard make three hopping glides to land at the Lord Holder's feet.
"And don't worry, Tyrth's used to having Spunky...land on him...and could somebody please give Lord Teval some food? It looks like he's in need of it."
OOC: So everyone's straight. Tan to Kethari Brown to Aleyi Blue to Velka Barred to Teval

Mine, there are firelizards hatch- "NO!" But Mine, you only have three. Just one- "Laukarth, I. Said. No. No more flitts, I have Sweetie, Kel and Ganesa. That is enough!" "I want a flitt!"
D'nor sighed as the voice of Robin piped up, looking positively angelic as she gazed up at him. Mostly, she'd been hanging around him while on the mend, her arm still in the splint that would heal it after breaking it in her tumble in the weyrbowl. Yet, there was a steely glint of determination in her dark eyes, so like her mother's. She wanted a flitter. For some odd reason, the girl adored them. He'd thought, maybe a wher, maybe a canine or something. Something he could train. The only one of his flitters that had been trained so far, was Ganesa, and she was a smart flitter, and she'd been with him for a long, long time.
"Robin..." He began, but instantly, the girl seemed to see that she was losing the battle and stomped a foot. She was all settled for temper tantrum mode, though Robin wasn't one to actually do so, D'nor didn't know that. He'd only been looking out for her for a little while, and in an attempt to still the tears, he held his hands out right, as thought stopping the tears physically. "Alright! Alright! I'll take you!" "Yay! I love you D'nor!"
"Awh! We're late! See, if you hadn't complained-- Oh look Nessa! There's the girl with the pretty white dragon, it's her flitters!" If there was any doubt that there was a child in the room, that would have been gone now as the girl stroked a hand down the green's body. The flitt then gave her bonded a long suffering look before she was carted through the crowds on Robin's shoulder, leaving D'nor no choice but to follow them. The flitter babies were so CUTE! Robin couldn't understand how D'nor could only be satisfied with three! They were adorable! Cradling her arm against her chest, split, sling and all, she looked up at Gwen as Ganesa was plucked from her shoulder by D'nor. "Could I try and Impress one? Please? I'll take very good care of it."
{Feel free to Impress or not Impress either xD D'nor will probably kill you if you give him another one, though. Laurie would love it, but D'nor... not so much. Still whatever you like, have fun xD!)

Kethari seemed to be rather surprised that the young Tan had decided to make its way over to her of all people. She smiled slightly as it demanded the food she had in her hand, and she bent down to hold out thick piece of the meat to the male. "Well, hello there Feraudrim... 'Champion Flyer'," she said warmly, watching as the young Tan immediately tugged the meat from her hand and began to rip at it with his small teeth and claws, trilling happily.
Ansraeth leaned her head down closer to examine the Firelizard better, her eyes whirling between colours of amusement and contentment. A little Tan... she stated, flicking her tail slightly. Well, it's nice to have a male presence. Hmph, I'm beginning to get tired of just being surrounded by females. Her eyes whirled teasingly and she withdrew her head [leaving the Flitt that had been startled by her sudden presence to go and attack another piece of meat Kethari had offered].
Instead, the Green focused her attentions on the Candidate they had picked up on their way here, a somewhat motherly expression coming to her features as she watched the young woman look at all the different Flitts that had hatched. It seemed six of them had done so so far, and most individuals were busy tending to their new charges. Illia was looking at the other eggs and stroking her Kagen as the young Flame tried to worm away from her hold to go and examine the new Firelizards. Fortunately, she kept her hold; that wouldn't be a good thing if a hungry Flitt decided Aedan looked like a meal.
Though, Illia wouldn't have been disappointed, really, if a Firelizard chose not to come to her. After all, she had been a Candidate in the Weyr since around the time it began; she had been left standing on the Sands when trying to Impress a dragon numerous times, and this was really no different. She was used to it.

The hatching almost seemed to have paused. Tyrth experimentally snorted at the eggs.
This made one of them roll all the way over just as it cracked. The green hatchling within was left upside down, and she squawked indignantly. Righting herself, she glared at the white dragon, apparently quite aware that it was his fault. Or, he was just the nearest. Then she glared at Spunky, at the various humans, and finally fixed a set glare on Robin.
Feed me! that glare said as she advanced on the girl. Well. Spunky had to pass her attitude on to at least one of her offspring, right?
The egg next to that one cracked, revealing a barred, but she wasn't choosing yet...like the first, she seemed to want to contemplate the matter for a little bit first.
OOC: Okay, last call before I start Impressing people's second charries. There's a few left!

As the green hatched and rolled to her feet, D'nor rolled his eyes skyward, silently begging the feisty green not to chose his charge. Someone seemed to have it in for him though, for the whirling gaze of the little green fell on Robin. Never one to pass up a chance, Robin squealed and bent to pick up the little green, cuddling the creature against her chest - ignoring all hissing and complaints - before she looked up at D'nor, eyes sad.
"I don't have any meat for her! She'll leave!" Obvious panic started to creep into the girl's voice and D'nor sighed, slapping a hand to his face until Ganesa cheep ed from his shoulder, a piece of meat in her jaws. No doubt, she'd stolen it from someone else, but it was enough. Grabbing it from the green with a well earned; "Good girl!" He handed it to Robin. Happily, the girl offered the flitter the meat, cooing to the hatchling all the way. If there was any doubt in anyone's mind that a ten turn old could care for such a young hatchling, the utter devotion in Robin's face as she gently fed the little green a piece of meat would have reassured them.
"What are you going to call her?" D'nor asked gently, bending so he could talk to Robin on a more equal level. The green hissed at him almost immediately, staking her claim more fully over Robin by wrapping her tail around the girl's arm, glaring at Ganesa, and then everyone else in the room before raising her voice in another shriek for food. "Shush, Ilyna.." She whispered, pressing a kiss to the green's head, sighing and closing her eyes as she gently petted her. "Ilyna?" "It was mama's name. She's pretty like mama was..." Smiling sadly, Robin turned her head as she noticed a young woman standing and watching the flitters. To Robin, she looked dissapointed, and she bounced over to Illia, smiling as she offered up her new friend for a pat. "You look sad, would you like to cuddle Ilyna?" The look the green gave her new bonded soke more clearly than anything, that she would not appreciate that.
{xDDDDD You had to give her another Spunky, huh? XD}

Teval nodded at Gwen's curtsy, though he didn't think it was necessary from the White rider. Then, he turned his full attention to the eggs as one began to rock and crack open. He let out a delighted gasp when he saw it was a little barred, just like her mother. She seemed like a haughty little thing, too, striking poses like she was. He smiled as the mother flew around him. It looked like she was inspecting him, making sure he was worthy.
Next to hatch was a tan, a mini Ace. Obviously, Barreds hatched more barreds and tans. At this rate, they would probably be as common as the original colors after a few generations. The tan Impressed almost immediately, to a greenrider. The barred seemed to confer with her mother, and then the hatchling hopped over and landed right at his feet.
"Why, hello there!" Grinning, Teval bent and carefully picked up the little barred. She was so cute! "Thanks, but I brought some food with me," He told Gwen, holding up the bag of meatrolls he had brought from the Hold. He took one out and shredded it into bite-sized peices for the barred. As he looked into her whirling eyes, he felt the euphoria that came from the small Impression. He knew it was nothing compared to Impressing a dragon, but he enjoyed it nonetheless. "I believe I'll call you Lady Luck...Lucky for short, probably."

The barred finally made a decision, and moved with sudden speed. Her goal was Illia's shoulder, but she didn't quite make it, ending up in a heap in the candidate's lap. Meep? Okay, some other firelizard must have done that. It can't possibly have actually been her.
Four eggs remained, and two more cracked now, a brown and a green revealed. They stared at each other then sped of in opposite directions.
The brown seemed quite determined to reach D'nor, even if he did already have too many. The green? Well. She regarded Gwen, who shooed her...no, she was *not* letting one of Spunky's kids pick her. She squeaked and ran around the circle of hopefuls. She had to stop eventually. Right?

xx o o c. Yay for Barreds~ =D Thanks Reine <3
xx b i c.
Illia blinked in surprise as she felt the sudden presence of the newborn Flitt in her lap. She had actually been chosen? She looked momentarily stunned, before a light nudge from Kethari's knee [the greenrider had chosen to hand around to see who else Impressed] jerked her out of her awe.
She placed Aedan on her shoulder [hoping the Kagen would have the sense to actually stay there] before immediately picking a piece of raw meat from the bowl she had set beside her, a cheerful smile crossing her lips as she held it out to the young, silver-green female. Her offer was replied to with a small croo, apparently the denial of her misjudged scramble dissapating with the presence of food. She opened her small jaws and snapped it up immediately, using her tiny claws to hold it as she gnawed on the thick slap.
Aedan, fortunately, was either too fascinated or too scared by his new 'companion' to get into much mischief. Rather, he was leaping from one of Illia's shoulders to the other again, chittering to himself as he finally settled on one side and wrapped his tail around Illia's neck, clinging to her pale blonde locks as he looked down at the new Barred, Frea as Illia would decide.
It seemed Kethari's Feraudrim was beginning to slow down with gorging himself on the offered meat, for he was still sinking his small fangs into the newest piece Kethari had offered with a bit less aggressiveness. She smiled as she watched a rather... demanding Green approach a girl considerably younger than most present, which was followed by a Barred who seemed fixed on the man the Greenrider identified as the resident Lord Holder.
She had almost laughed at another Barred's display as a Flitt finally rushed towards Illia, though had to bring the Candidate out of her state of mild shock with a small knee in the back, then watched as the Brown and Green attempted to go to their own chosen individuals. Ansraeth was still looking at Feraudrim, though her sites suddenly turned to Illia's Frea. Such a curious breed Barreds were, in her eyes anyway, much like Greens like herself yet so different all the same. [/blockquote]

FInally, the green changed course and darted to Aleyi. Poor girl already had one female firelizard, but the green neither knew about that nor cared...and certainly not that this had to be annoying Jerglith. And finally, the last two eggs fell open. Neither of the two took any time about making their choices. The blue was the smaller of the two, microscopically. His choice...was the Lord Holder, Teval, and he padded right up to him, although it seemed a good bit of his attention was on the barred the man already had. And last, but not least, an unusually large and fine barred. She stared around or a moment, then padded, cheerfully, perkily, over to...Velka. Gwen sighed inwardly. They'd all already had firelizards and some of them a bunch. She'd have to gather up the shards. Some people liked to make jewelry out of them, so they could be useful. But at least all of the hatchlings had gone to good homes. OOC: Sorry to rush, I wasn't about to leave you all another week .

((*stupid'd for not checking earlier* Aleyi's gonna love this. xD))
Oh shards. Aleyi was happy with her Brown, but a Green? She didn't need another crazy female flitt. Would people be mad at her if she tried to get rid of it? Discreetly as she could manage, she nudged the hatchling away from her with her foot, shooing it softly under her breath. But the Green only hopped stubbornly onto her toe and bit at her boot, hopeful that maybe that would be tasty.
But I wanted a Blue! Jerglith just stared at the Green, and Brooke glared viciously down at the other female. What did she want with Brooke's human? They were invading her personal territory! And neither of these newcomers looked particularly likely to fall to Brooke's every order, even if she would make them do so anyways.
Well, um... I guess we have a Green now too. Not wanting to look like she didn't appreciate the... gift, Aleyi picked the new hatchling up. She snuggled against the Brown and started gnawing at the end of his piece of meat.
Brooke just glared at the Green. Maybe some people thought it looked cute now, but she could see right through that. Jerglith and Aleyi exchanged uncertain glances; this wasn't starting off as a particularly happy family.
