Rumer had showed up at the Weyr with the clothes he stood up in, and those not in the best of shape. An efficient lower caverns worker had corrected that, providing him with several changes that fit. Boots would have to wait, but his boots weren't bad.
Then, he was showed to the candidate barrack. Pick an empty cot on the boys' side. That was easy enough. He placed the clothes in the press and then, moving awkwardly...they'd numbed the welts from his latest and hopefully last beating, but that didn't quite deal with the..humiliation and embarrassment...he stepped out into what seemed to be some kind of common area for the candidates. The boy glanced around to see who else was there. He was already wondering why he had said yes to this...

Telat saw the boy enter the candidate barracks. He thought for a sec wethier or not he should go talk to him. He then saw the boy was really a preson of his own type. He then decied to talk to the boy. Iron took off from his shoulders and flew over and landed on the boys shoulder and chriped at him in greeting. Telat then walked over to the boy and said to him " Hello my name is Telat and this is my little friend Iron. What is your name?" He smiled at the boy knowing that it would probley make him feel better.

Rumer turned and smiled back. There might be a good looking boy somewhere under the puppy fat. "Rumer," he greeted, and then started as the over-friendly firelizard landed on his shoulder. "I umm...don't have any treats. Sorry."
Such a cute little firelizard. He tried to study it, not having ever had one...

Jolyk smiled at the new kid and said, "You just getting in? Nice to meet. Mine name is Jolyk by the way, in case you were wondering." Jolyk said this while examining the new guy. He seemed okay. but you couldn't always trust first opinions. Though, sometimes they were the best opinion.

Telat had not expected the other boy and he startled him abit. Plus he thought that he would be talking to just one preson. Oh well He then turn to Jolyk and said " Hi Jolyk." Then he turned back to Rumer and said to him " Don't worry about Iron he is not really looking for treats. He is just happy to say hello. He is not normally that way so that must mean that he likes you." He then smiled at the other boy as he looked at Iron sitting on Rumer's shoulders.

Rumer smiled a bit. "I bet he'd appreciate one if I had one, though. He's a lovely little guy." Then he glanced at Jolyk, a little uncertain now.
"I'm Rumer," he introduced. He already had his candidate knot...but looking at the riders he was starting to wonder if this was a good idea.
He was staying at the Weyr, though. No force on Pern would make him go home.
