((...3 pages on Word. xD Have fun with this... Sparrow's muse has been failing lately so it's not as good as I would have liked... but oh well. Maybe being long will make up for that. >.< History because I'm so sick of these charries and Sparrow's gonna make one who can live shyly, but without all that 'omg, give me attention! I'm so depressed and ruined!' crap xP))
Name: Salise
Age: 19
Rank: Barred Weyrling
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual (but could be gaining some bisexual tendencies that she simply won’t admit to)
Appearance: A bit on the taller side, Salise is about 5'7". She has a well-developed body, slender and curvy enough, but a somewhat flat chest in comparison. In her opinion, this is a good thing because it would hurt to be riding a not-so-smoothly-moving runner (and now, a dragon) and have one's breasts bouncing violently around.
Although she has broader shoulders than the average girl, Salise is otherwise more on the thin and slender side. People don't usually notice it because of the looser clothes she usually wears, but when she puts on something that really fits it suddenly becomes obvious.
Salise has a narrow head, her cheekbones are high and her cheeks themselves thin. Somewhat-full lips make for a wonderful pout, but she is often sucking or chewing on them, so their shape isn't always noticed. Her eyes are on the large side and have a slight angle to their positioning, giving them a vaguely exotic look. Although powder-blue in shade, around her pupils there is a dense speckling of bright green.
There is a smooth sort of grace to her movements, every step Salise takes or every gesture of the hand seems very decisive and sure of just what it was meant for. Watching her can sometimes give others the vague illusion that they are seeing someone move in slow-motion. It's not that she moves slowly though, but that that every movement seems to display itself to its fullest.
Personality: Some people think of Salise as slow, or perhaps 'not the brightest star in the sky'. It's not that she's at all stupid though, but that she likes to consider things for a long time. If someone were to ask a question expecting an immediate answer, she would probably give one but it would probably not be what was expected or wanted. For a good reply, she needs the time to think. Salise apparently has a slow thought process, and so people think she is dumb. Thoughtful is more the word, but few realize it.
Rather reminiscent of her like to take time to consider things, Salise doesn't talk a lot but prefers to keep on the edges of conversations and just comment on things when she really has a good idea for a reply and of what is going on. Her comments can seem very 'out there' at times, but always, in her opinion, have a good point.
For the most part, Salise is willing to just say she agrees with everyone and be done with what is going on. It doesn't really mean she does, but she seems very much like a bandwagon sort of person to those who don't know her. Mostly though, she just likes to avoid the trouble that always seems to come with disagreeing. Mentally, she could have all sorts of thoughts about how stupid what is going on is, but she rarely lets her bad opinions of things show.
Although she isn't much of a conversationalist, Salise does seem to get along very well with others. Shehas an interest in men, although experience seems to be making it fade, and they don't seem to mind her quiet ways either. Maybe it comes as a relief to most to find a girl willing to listen rather than jabber on and on about herself or how much she hates something.
History: Born into an extended family of traders, Salise never knew any real home. They were constantly traveling from Hold to subhold to weyrhold throughout her life, trading whatever they came upon or made while journeying. She proved a helpful asset to the group when it was discovered she seemed to have a talent for snares and catching tunnelsnakes, always a problem to the travelers. As that was more a boys job though, when Salise reached eight Turns her mother began gradually turning her from that occupation.
Already used to ropes of many sorts by then, she next started working on weaving with her mother and aunt. A sweet little thing throughout her youth, she was often the one sent to barter for threads at markets within Holds, many seemed willing to give in to the child's winning smile and small amount of Marks. As she grew older though, the job of buying threads was passed to a younger girl and Salise continued to work simply with weaving. During visits to Holds though, she had a bit more freedom than before.
Raised with her trader family, the only boys Salise knew growing up were her relatives and so she never had any reason for interest in the boys she was almost always in the company of. Her first 'real' boy encounter was in Danac Hold when she was twelve, only freshly marked an apprentive weaver. This boy was a quick flirt though, and being the submissive girl she was, Salise was happy to get distracted and follow him about for the sevenday her family was at the Hold.
Nothing particularly interesting happened with that first pairing though, except that her cousins and sisters teased her about it. Salise was in the middle range of ages for children in her family, there were plenty of older girls to interrogate and make fun of her about meeting this boy.
It was later, when her family came upon another group of traders, that real trouble arose. It was an older boy who caught Salise's interest, and he was quick to take advantage of the girl. A single night was all it took to terrify Salise into remaining in or very near her immediate-family's wagon for the rest of the time her group was in contact with the other traders. Because of her very short contact with the boy though, no-one realized what had happened and it remained her secret.
Torn by the abrupt rape she had encountered at twelve, Salise was much more nervous about boys for some time afterwards. But finally the caravan came back to Danac Hold and she happily reaquainted herself with the boy she had met earlier. He knew nothing of what happened, and by the time it came time for Salise's family to leave again, he had decided they were meant to be lifemates and should as their parents permission to be joined. Although she was only thirteen and he was only a couple years older, Salise agreed. He would keep her safe from the ‘bad’ men out there too.
Her mother said she needed to wait, and before she could get back to tell her friend the bad news, her family headed out again. Their next return to Danac took a long time, but Salise and Atair ((his having no name was bugging the crap out of me… xP)) found each other for a third reunion. Both’s parents had said the same thing, and Atair thought it likely his parents wouldn’t allow her to be his lifemate anyways since they had never met Salise.
To fix that, she figured it would be alright to go meet his family and so off they went. There was no-one home at the time though, so Atair suggested they wait… and while they did, he convinced Salise to his bed. Perhaps they couldn’t be joined yet, but that didn’t mean they needed to wait for the things doing so allowed, he said.
But this was in Salise’s mind, a sudden and frightening change in the boy she had thought she loved. In mind, she was very reluctant for a second round of what had frightened her so much before, although she didn’t let Atair see. When his parents did come home, Atair rushed out a back window and forced Salise to follow. Salise was forced into sex a few more times before someone in her family realized the girl had been missing for a couple days and went looking.
Atair released her when he heard Salise’s mother calling for her, and she rushed to her mother’s side and hardly left it until fate decided to throw another twist at her. While the family was traveling, they came upon a Green who had paused by a river for a break from Sweep, her rider needed a drink and she needed a quick rest. The Green took an immediate interest in Salise though, and after discussing with her rider about how the Violet had just risen and would likely clutch, they needed Candidates, she was brought to Nyocia Weyr.
Her bad luck with men has left her nervous about them, although she firmly hasn’t allowed her to find anything in women either. No one at Nyocia knows her at least, she hopes to be able to keep past experiences secret and let her start at the Weyr be a completely new one
Pets: Blue Fire-lizard Scout
Other: Apprentice Weaver
Name: Artemisth
Age: 3
Color: Barred
Size: 27 Meters
Appearance: Artemisth is a large Barred dragon with a strong, muscular build. Her hide is a lovely shade of silvery green, seeming more green or more silver depending on the light. Her purple streaks are bright and vivid. She is not a vain dragon at all, but most would agree she is one of the most beautiful dragons in the Weyr.
Personality: The best way to describe Artemisth is as a tomboy. She is not prone to feminine wiles in the least, and she would prefer to perfect her aerial tricks than flirt. She loves to be active, and she spends a lot of time working on her flying technique. She likes to be the best at whatever she does, and she especially take pride in doing better than the males at anything. Whenever someone suggests she should be nicer to males and maybe try to win one of them over, she gets very angry. You don’t want to be in her way when she has a temper. Her bouts of anger are fierce, and she holds a strong grudge against anyone who wrongs her.
Inspiration: Artemis, goddess of the Moon and of maidens. She took a vow of chastity, but later fell in love with Orion only to have Apollo trick her into killing him.
