Lesson 2: Communication and Basic Healing

((Well, the first lesson wasn’t exactly finished… but I don’t feel like making people go through how to wash their dragons a third time. Pretend they did it all, which we’ve been pretending for a while. *pokes Jenth and Ayra* Amirinth’s not supposed to be in charge of these lessons, she’s just sneaking in ‘cause the Norse Legends weyrlings are being neglected! D: *should probably mention to them sometimes that there are lessons to be taught* Anyways… keep skipping back in time, but not as much this time. *brick’d*))

Basic dragon healing and communication. It sounded dull. Not just dull, but excessively boring and in need of… something. Something else, but since they weren’t supposed to be teaching the lessons, Amirinth and K’laon doubted it was their place to add to things.

Not that they ever paid much attention to their doubts.

Maybe we could get someone to pretend they’re really hurt? Have them come in late and be crying about their dragon getting some sort of horrible injury. Amirinth rumbled softly at the idea. It might be hard to get the dragon to pretend, but this is a communication practice too!

I imagine it would do some to teach them to act calmly in a bad situation too. Who should we ask?

Amirinth considered. Amirinth likes T’mar and Freyjath. The White was out of the question- if he pretended to be sick, then the MasterHealer might come running- and Voluspath surely wouldn’t. A Green was a perfect choice; they were perfect dragons.

You ask her then. K’laon readied some bandages and other supplies along one wall of the classroom. He would make the lesson look routine. Amirinth settled down in the corner that was once taken up by that dull Bronze, and now let the Blue rest.

Freyjath! Her eyes whirled with utter bliss, the thought that the young Green wouldn’t go along with the idea never crossed Amirinth’s mind. Amirinth and K’laonMine have a request to make of you and your rider! Without waiting for a yes or no, she went quickly over the plan, stressing that they had to come late. ((Yeah, you can make up exactly what she says and say yes or no if you want Reine, Amirinth is just impatient.))

That done, Amirinth sent out a call to all the Norse Legends weyrlings. Younglings! It is time for your lesson!

Gwen was one of the first to the lesson, the tiny white padding alongside her. First aid, dragon communication.

This shouldn't, at least, be a *hard* lesson. She knew a bit of human first aid, and treating cuts and scrapes on a dragon would be about the same.

And she knew how to talk to Tyrth...and how their emotions flowed between the two until, sometimes, she was not sure where she ended and he began.

Maybe *that* was part of what she needed to learn. Confident, she strode into the classroom and took a seat near the front. Tyrth promptly put his pale head in her lap, affectionately.

Brylorea. We are going to be late again if you do not hurry up and dry yourself off! Voluspath grumbled. The growing gold was waiting for her Weyrling in their barracks while her bonded took one of her few minutes of free time to get a bath.

Thouroughly submerged, she gurgled unhappy from beneath the surface of the warm water, sending bubbles blowing up to the surface. Pokey, her little kagen, was sort of canine paddling along in the water near the steps. Her firelizard Meatroll had also taken merrily to the thought of swimming around in the bathing area and her pets apparent fondness for water had allowed her to bathe them both as well, sacrificing time for herself to get cleaned off.

With Voluspath's call, Brylorea instantly gave up on the idea of giving herself a good cleaning and quickly shook her head off in the water, rinsing it of lingering soap sand. It took her only a moment to scoop up Pokey and to send Meatroll /between/ to go sun somewhere while she was in learning mode. Since she didn't really have the time to dry out her hair properly, she whisked it up in a quick bun, hurrying to her room with Vollie.

Finally! I do not wish to suffer that intollerable green's goading once more. The gold snorted, shaking herself off, her well-oiled and well bathed hide glistening even in the low light provided by a small basket of glows.

You still smell bad. Voluspath continued as her Weyrling gently wrapped Pokey up in a small towel for her to snuggle up and dry in.

"Lies. I got to scrub myself pretty well," Brylorea responded with a grin, patting the dragonet on her lithe shoulder. The gold's eyes whrilled with amusement as they took off towards the class's designated area.

"Hey, K'ton!" She called, seeing the bronze Weyrling hurrying ahead of her. K'ton practically skidded to a stop while his far more easy-going dragonet slowed a couple of paces before coolly looking back.

"Oh...hello, Brylorea. Um, Voluspath," He said with a slight and almost sheepish grin, still holding his pause while the gold pair caught up to him. His insides whithered; what was she wanting from him?

Brylorea, oblivious to his nervousness smiled warmly at him and nodded him thanks as she leveled with him and allowing him to set the pace of their brisk walk. A long, awkward silence passed between the four with K'ton looked firmly at his feet and Brylorea staring at his downcast face in mild confusion.

Not much of a bronzerider if you ask me. The gold chimed in, sparing K'ton a quick glance before her eyes locked onto Vikinth. But him now...

Shush, you. She told her dragonet with a frown. He's just shy, is all. He'll...um, come out of it.

Is she still staring at me? K'ton asked the burly bronze.

Um...Yes, they are. Why? Brylorea seems nice enough. Vikinth responded trodding along beside his clutchmate.

No reason... Was the only reply Vikinth received from his bonded. It troubled the bronze, but K'ton was normally not the communicating type and never once did he get any feelings of doubt nor sadness from the boy, not even now.

They arrived together, Gwen and Tyrth the first ones there...again and Voluspath bristled with annoyance, steely silent while Brylorea cheerfully greeted Gwen and the white. She shot the gold a look of warning before sitting next to the white pair, feeling Voluspath mentally sigh with resignation and the gold tail wrap around her chair.

A few moments behind them, Lenia and her Odith entered the room, taking seats near the back while H'rik, who was practically dragging an oblivious Emblath along, took a seat closest to the door. The green stared at their teachers, her head cocked to the side, her eyes whirling as she watched them, lost in thought.
