Britten Weyr is a Spin off of the old MoonBow Weyr. We currently have two fully functioning Weyrs and several holds, as well as plans to make more as our playerbase increases.
Moonbow Weyr History-
F'lar is killed in the duel against Fax. Lessa is accidentally killed as well and so another girl Impressed the queen (forget her name off the top of my head). She is a weak-willed girl. Hath flies the queen when she rises, securing R'gul's place as Weyrleader.
Fax is angered by the dragonriders and leads an attack on the weyr. Before they can reach the Clutch, two weyrlings near the end of their training take the Queen Egg and several others and escape to a hollowed out volcano in the Southern Continent. Fax's men destroy the remaining eggs on the Sands and kill many dragonriders before the bloodshed is over.
Eventually more of the few remaining dragonriders disappear to the new weyr and bring several Candidates for the eggs. The Hatching comes and the new queen's rider is a much stronger woman. The new weyr is christened Moonbow Weyr for the woman's love of hunting.
Fast forward several hundred years. Lyranel is the Weyrwoman and Artemth is her queen. T'hon is the Weyrleader, rider of bronze Smoltath. The leadership is strong and the pair work well together even though they do not have much romance between them. Sometimes that is best.
One day nine dragons and their riders appear in the sky over the Weyr, gray with exhaustion. It turns out to be nine weyrlings, including the queen Alexith, who had disappeared over five-hundred turns before during a weyrling drill. The weyrlings are dubbed Timelings. Soon Alexith rises for her maiden flight and is caught by bronze Reloith, ridden by T'tarel, of the present day dragons. Her clutch produces 16 eggs and only one of the hatchlings does not Impress and dies on the Sands.
Britten Weyr-
Soon after, a Gather is held at Moonset Hold, the main hold of the weyr. Some at the Gather are sick with a horrible cough. Not long after, dragons begin falling ill and it becomes apparent that they have an epidemic on their hands. The disease is called Cloudlung, and very few who catch it live through the disease.
The disease has miraculously spared Alexith and Lyrensa, the Timeling pair, and all of her offspring. It seems that the rest of the Timelings are immune, too, but then they, too, succumb to the disease. A scouting mission is sent for an alternate location, even if just temporary, for any healthy dragons. By the time a site is found, only Alexith, Reloith, their offsprings and a brown named Odinth and their riders remain healthy. They evacuate to the new site, a system of natural caves (mostly lavatubes) inside a small volcanic crater. They are ordered not to return to Moonbow Weyr for at least five turns.
Lyrensa becomes the Weyrwoman of Britten Weyr, so named after a favored harper who was one of the first to fall ill, and her mate T'tarel is appointed Weyrleader until Alexith rises again. Much time elapses between their arrival and the next flight of the queen. But when she does rise, Reloith again catches golden Alexith, producing 24 eggs for the new weyr, and a queen egg.
Golden Telemaith hatches and several more queens in the years to come, leaving Britten Weyr with an overabundance of 6 queens in the next five years. When Alexith next rises, all the other queenriders are ordered to keep their dragons away. But Sedine fails to listen and Telemaith also rises with Alexith. A horrible fight ensues and the senior queen Alexith disappears between. Since Telemaith also rose with Alexith, she becomes the senior queen, making Sedine the Weyrwoman. The next five turns are not riddled with disaster, but nor are they as prosperous as they had hoped. Excavation continues on the caves and tunnels within the weyr as they opt to make it a permament home.
One day a pale gold, nearly silver with exhaustion, appears in the air, much as she had the first time when she had traveled 500 Turns. It is Alexith. All of the Weyr is thrown into a tizzy, only made worse when the queen's first flight upon her return is won by the same bronze who had caught Telemaith. The Weyrleadership is secure for H'del, rider of bronze Septoth, no matter who is decided to be Weyrwoman. But as Alexith rose before Telemaith did upon her return and Lyrensa has more support from weyrfolk as the founder of Britten Weyr, Lyrensa is made the Weyrwoman. Due to the tension, however, and the population swelling too large for the location, it is decided to install Telemaith and Sedine as the leaders of another Weyr, this one titled Roush Weyr, again after a harper of the time. But no one is sure who the Weyrleader should be. Should H'del stay with Alexith and Lyrensa, or go to the new Weyr with Sedine and Telemaith?
Who will catch Telemaith in her next flight?
