Amirinth, amazingly enough, hadn't yet grown tired of teaching the weyrlings. K'laon had been sick of doing it practically before he even started, and as the one who really did the teaching, that wasn't a particularly good thing.
But there wasn't much he could do about it now, unless a better Weyrlingmaster was found. They'd gone through a lot in the last few Turns, and so far he had been the only one to stick with it a bit longer ((despite the fact that Sparrow hates weyrling lessons o.o)).
And so, once again, he and Amirinth waited, one with his usual toad-like scowl and the other with a girlish smirk, in a lesson room loaded with buckets of food, oil, and rags. There really wasn't much reason to teach the kids about feeding their dragons, by now anyone who hadn't figured it out probably didn't deserve to be a rider, but the dragonets were always hungry. This was just another chance to feed them.
Oiling was another story- the last bunch had showed some disappointing problems with it and K'laon wasn't particuarly anxious to go through that again.
It makes Amirinthlove feel like a mom, doing all this. Amirinth, as usual, had no ability to cheer her rider, but she tried.
"The day you're a mom is the day the whole sharding Red Star crashes into Pern," K'laon grumbled. Let the weyrlings hurry through, he wanted to get this over with.

Lessons, lesson today. Come what may. That's right, lesson time Alazemine. Alazne jerked awake at the voice in her head, a definately female and somewhat childish voice. She turned her head to see the silvery white and purple dragonet that was curled on her couch. Suddenly the events of the hatching came rushing back and she smiled brightly as she sat up.
"You are a barred, and my dear Rolith!" She stated happily, getting out of the bed and going over to hug the dragonet. Yes, yes, but I am hungry and there are lessons. "Oh, yes. Right then." She moved away from Rolith to find some clothes, digging about in her chest until she found a soft white blouse and a pair of light brown wherry hide trousers. Pulling the clothes on she cast a glance at the barred dragonet to make sure she wasn't dreaming. She hastily pulled her comb through her sleep-tangled hair, just enough to look presentable, she'd do it properly later when she had more time. Once she was ready she smiled at Rolith and laid a hand on the soft hide of the barred's shoulder as they started to the lesson room.
When they entered the room Alazne went over to K'laon and held out her hand, "Weyrling Alazne of Barred Rolith." She said, introducing them with a smile while Rolith craned her head to look up at Amirinth. Alazne gave a soft laugh as she saw what she thought to be a look of awe on Rolith's face. "I know she looks big now Rolith dear, but you'll be that big soon enough and she won't seem so big." She said softly to the barred who looked at her and crooned affectionately. Oh I know mine. I just didn't think she'd be that big. Although her rider doesn't look too happy. Does he not want to teach us? I don't know dear. It could be any number of things.

SenraMine... SenraMine... Mine? We must go to lessons, they are today. Mine? Eith was calling to Senra, but she wasn't paying much attention. She wasn't asleep, but instead outside the weyrling barracks. Senra was feeling a bit overwhelmed by all this new stuff. She had been moved from her old barracks to these new ones so quickly, and now she had Eith. There were many new things in her life.
And yet, some things were the same. She still couldn't speak to anyone, with the exception of Eith, she still had her old hatred of eating when she wasn't hungry, many things were the same, and many were different. It was hard to think through it all. Eith was right, though, they needed to get to lessons. She could feel his unease at the idea of being late, and his concern for her, and it made her feel better.
Alright Eith, you're right, let's get going. As little as she wanted to, Senra got up. She stared out at the Weyr Bowl, realizing she was looking at the world at a whole different perspective, she had ever since she had Impressed to Eith. With that one last look, Senra turned back to the Barracks. She went along silently with Eith towards the room where they took lessons.
Senra walked in the room, quite surprised to find there were only two people in there. With how worried Eith had been, she would have expected them to be late. Eith, on the other hand, was quite relieved. Senra saw who must have been their teacher, along with a full-grown Green dragon. The other was a girl and her Barred, Senra was sure she had seen them at the hatching.
Eith looked around, then went over and lay down in a random spot, looking up at Amirinth expectantly. Senra wondered why he was so ready to do whatever they would be doing today. She didn't know why, and there wasn't much way to find out right now. Quietly as always, she took her place next to Eith. Eith looked over at Amirinth, I am Brown Eith, of Senra he said for Senra, which she was grateful for, though it seemed rather strange.

Jourenth snorted and pushed Se'tolten irritably. It does not matter if you are tired Mine, we must go to lessons anyone. It is required, and you must learn to take care of your Jourenth properly. You are Mine, now get up. Se'tolten groaned, ignoring the dragonet. Jourenth snorted again and wandered off, clearly annoyed. Se'tolten finally got up, although he would much rather not. First he had to get out of bed, then he had to be taught what no doubt be not a very good lesson, the perfect day.
It does not matter what you think of the lessons, they are for you to take care of me, which you will do. Of course I will Jourenth, I just wish they could wait awhile for lessons. Jourenth didn't care in the least, in trotted over to Se'tolten and nudged him. Se'tolten rubbed his head a bit, then got dressed while Jourenth waited impatiently.
Alright, we're all ready to go Se'tolten said. Finally was Jourenth's only comment as they started out. Se'tolten was almost glad when they reached the room where they took lessons. At least Jourenth would stop bugging him. He went up to who was undoubtly their teacher. "Se'tolten and Bronze Jourenth" he said, before following Jourenth, who hadn't gone up with him, but had gone off to find a place he liked.

RobinMine, Lesson time. The chirpy voice intruded on her sleep, and the girl instantly tried to push it away, succeeding in pushing little Ilyna off the bed with an annoyed mumble. This resulted in an annoyed squawk and and light hearted giggling sound from some where else. "G'way, sleeping." Robin mumbled, only to have someone lightly tug on her blankets, amusement very clear in her mental tones.
Come now, we can't miss the lessons. We need to learn. "I need sleep." No you don't. You have slept lots. Now Sirristh is ready to go, Mine must be too. Finally, Robin dragged her eyes open, blinking mildly before blinking again at the pale barred dragon sitting patiently by her bed. Sirristh. The amazement still hadn't gone away, the love, the swirling vortex of adoration and all other pleasant emotions was still there. It hadn't been a dream, Sirristh was hers.
Naturally the first thing done was giving her dragon a good long cuddle, before hurrying to get dressed. She might be the smallest, but she wasn't going to be the latest or the slowest. Lightly picking Ilyna up and placing her back on the bed, Robin grinned as the green growled half heartedly before snuggling back down. "I wonder what we'll be learning. Some thing to help look after you I bet. You're hungry, aren't you? Well, we'll probably get food at the lesson." Alright then, I look forward to seeing my siblings again. With that, the barred promtply trotted ahead of her bonded.
"Good morning, sir!" If K'laon didn't want to teach, he was probably going to have a heart attack with the loud, and cheerful greeting from Robin, dashing up to stop right infront of him with a bright smile. "Robin and Sirristh." She stated, rather proudly as Sirristh nodded lightly at Amirinth in greeting, before nudging her rider lightly to get her moving. "It's so exciting! Just think, me and you, and lessons! We'll learn to fly and fight and flame and be great riders!" That we will RobinMine, but I'm sure we will learn that later.

K’laon nodded as each weyrling announced their presence, even to the message relayed by Amirinth from the Brown, although whether he would pay much attention to that was unknown to the Greenrider. He wasn’t paying much attention to it either, acknowledging them in the most effortless way possible was just a habit now.
Of course, there was no helping his slight jump when what appeared to be the youngest of the new weyrlings was suddenly right in front of him, sounding much too enthusiastic about a morning lesson that included nothing more than getting bloody and wet. “I can see that,” he sighed as she finished. At least this Robyn didn’t feel a need to remain right in front of him.
Amirinth likes that girl.
You would. K’laon may have done more than just give his dragon a sarcastic reply, but he couldn’t in front of a bunch of kids who had no idea of the exchange going on between the older rider and dragon. Anyways, he had waited long enough. Time to start the lesson.
“Today we’ll be going over feeding your dragons, since you’re going to be doing a lot of that for a while, and then proper bathing procedures. Neither are particularly hard, but if done wrong, they can cause a lot of trouble in the dragonets, so pay attention.” K’laon dropped his ‘I hate this job’ attitude as he started speaking, grumpiness got no teaching done. He and Amirinth had experience in that, and there was no denying his dragon had turned out a complete wherrybrain.
Amirinth believes she turned out quite wonderfully! Her rider, on the other hand, could be questioned…
You’re a dragon that talks in third person. Shut your mouth- or mind, or whatever. Amirinth only rumbled, and K’laon ignored her and went on with the lesson. “We have buckets of food for your dragons here,” he motioned towards them with one hand, “Nice and bloody and fresh-killed from Amirinth.” He grinned. Originally, that hadn’t been true, but this time around Amirinth had decided she wanted a bigger part in the whole teaching process. Cooks didn’t feed dragons for a reason, anyways.
“Make sure your dragons don’t eat pieces too big for them, since they’ll surely want to. Soon enough they’ll be getting their own food, but for now, you kids are in charge of making sure they get enough- which is a whole lot, let me tell you- and making sure they don’t kill themselves eating it. There’s not much more to it then that so… get some food and let them eat.”
And let them eat all they want, dragons have to eat lots and they know when they’ve eaten enough. Amirinth broadcasted her voice to everyone in the room, eyes whirling cheerfully. Next she focused her voice just on the dragonets. Amirinth is sure you all want to grow bigger than her, she was the smallest Green out there, anyways, so make sure you don’t let your riders get in the way of that. Humans tend to worry about how much we eat, but they’re always wrong.
Shut up, bug.

Mine...mine? I think we are late for the lesson. Miiiiiiine. K'roimine! I do not wish to go either, but it is expected.
K'roi groaned. He hated waking up early... well that wasn't necessarily true. He hated waking up. It was always a chore for him, and it always took a long time.
The grullo rider pried his eyes open and looked into the lazily spinning of his young dragon's eyes. He let out a sigh and pulled himself out of bed- trudging towards a table with a water basin. He filled the basin and then stuck his head in it. It was a semi effective way to wake himself up. Semi because it didn't always work, but at least made him feel refreshed.
After pulling his head back out of the water, he ran his fingers through his spiky hair and dried his face on a towel. Two minutes to get dressed and then we leave.
Yes, mine. The sooner we go, the sooner we can come back... and take a nap. The odd colored tan dragon yawned and sat watching his bonded dress patiently and left as the tall man walked unsteadily towards the door. Careful mine, your not awake yet. Take it easy or you may hurt yourself again.
"Yeah, yeah."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unlike his brother, K'roh was always quite the morning person. He had gotten up and bathed and was now fussing over his clothes.
Mine, you look fine, those are the perfect close to get dirty, now come ON! We must go to the lesson and learn things. Don't make me drag you. I'm sure I could do it.
K'roh chuckled and nodded an affirmative. "I do believe you would and could. Alright, let us go then."
Good, good. I get to see my clutchmates again! The dark blue had a bit of a bounce in his step and his wings were held in a perky manner. All in all, they were two of a feather really.
K'roh wasn't surprised to see a half asleep K'roi leaning against the wall of the hall, slowly making progress to the lesson room. The older twin grasped the shoulder of the half asleep rider and gave it a little shake.
"Pern to little brother, Pern to little brother. Come in little brother."
"Ha-ha very funny. I'm.... awake. Promiz." The sleepy twin blinked a few times and drew his eyes wide in another attempt to wake himself up. He had been going okay... at least he thought he had.
"Doesn't look that way to me, but come on anyway. We're late."
The twins walked in right as the weyrling master was giving the lecture and explanation as to the lesson for the day. K'roh managed to grasp it all, and K'roi may have managed to understand most of it. The younger twin was still sleep fuzzy.
After the master and his dragon were done talking K'roh spoke up. "K'roh and Pirath are here, as well as a very sleepy K'roi and Palanth."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Andilay didn't want to get up. There had been noises coming from somewhere that had kept her up half the night and needless to say, the weyrling swordswoman was grumpy. Normally she could sleep like the dead, but every now and then there would be a noise that could prove to be her sleep kryptonite.
The young woman grumbled as she stepped lightly over her green dragon-who was still sleeping soundly besides the fact that there was a lesson to go to this morning. Ahh, well, just because her kryptonite kept her up, does not mean her dragon had the same problem. No sir-ee. In fact, her sea green also slept soundly, and today Andilay was quite envious of her dragon. She wanted that peaceful look and happy feeling of just waking up from a very good sleep.
As it was, she instead dressed in older clothes, remembering that it was a first lesson, so probably a lesson on oiling and a few other things. Since she did not feel like rubbing in oil on her leathers all day, as well as her dragon, she dressed in a sleeveless cotton shirt of a light colored tan and simple breaches.
With a gentle hand she rubbed her dragon's side and back. She remembered vaguely how she had always been happy when her father woke her up this way, so used it on her dragon. Just because she was grumpy at the world, did not mean she had to be grumpy to her dragon.
Wake up sleepy head. We have to go to a lesson. I'm sure there will be food there. Wake up. All I need to do is put on my boots and then we're going.
The green sleepily peered up at her bonded and gave a little happy sigh. Okay mine. Sorry I did not wake you. Are we late?
Andilay pulled on her boots and stomped into them to make sure her foot was all the way in. Once done up she stuck one of her daggers into the built in sheath and pulled on a belt knife. I think so. Hopefully the master will not be too cross with us. I don't know if I could take the irritation. Then again, I'm sure the same thing could be said of him, if the rumors are true.
Then lets not keep him waiting mine, lets go.
The green and her rider cam in soon behind the twins, so missed very little of the start of the lesson. Andilay yawned but payed attention. When the older green dragon spoke her eyes grew a little bigger in surprise, but otherwise took to what the dragon was saying. You do eat far too much for such a little thing, but I know you will grow bigger than her, even though you are both greens.
The young green beamed at her mine. Do you really think so mine? I will grow up to be bigger? Skrith practically purred her happiness at the statement.
Yes, I do. In a tired and slightly gruff voice she spoke to the weyrling master. "Andilay and Skrith are here. Sorry for the tardiness."
Having said that she steered her little green over to a pail of meat and took out her belt knife. After perusing the slices she found that only a few had to be cut smaller so that her dragon could eat them safely with out choking. Alright, Skrith, have at it.
The green obliged and began to plow into the bloody mess greedily.
Andilay shook her head and smiled with fondness at her dragon. Glutton.

Food? Good, Eith is very hungry SenraMine! Senra nodded, then went off to get some food. Eith followed her all to happily, and waited imaptiently while Senra ripped the meat down into smaller pieces. I believe that is small enough Mine Eith said. I don't want you to choke Senra told him, but she gave him the meat and watched him gulp it down.
Eith didn't want to stop eating after Senra started feeding him. Finally, Senra got him to agree that he had had quite enough, and now he most definitely needed a bath. Perhaps she did, too, though just going into the lake and cleaning Eith should be enough for now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don believe that is good enough Mine, Jourenth is quite hungry. Se'tolten saw no reason to argue, so he handed the meat to Jourenth, who snapped it down, almost taking a piece of his hand with it. A little more carefully please, Jourenth. Jourenth didn't seem to happy about that, but he did slow down.
Se'tolten wished there was an easier way of doing this, perhaps one that wasn't so messy. He would be glad when Jourenth could catch him own meat and he wouldn't have to worry about it. You should be willing to go through a little suffering for your Jourenth. One day, you will be proud Jourenth is yours. I am proud, Jourenth, I just wish we didn't have to do this, that's all, really. Jourenth snorted, but said nothing.
Rolith half pranced, half bounced over to where the food buckets were, turning to look back at Alazne. Come on Alaznemine. I am very hungry after all that sleeping. Alazne smiled as she caught up to her barred and picked up a bucket.
"Of course you are. Now you need to chew carefully so that you don't choke. I would hate to have to pull out any meat." She didn't mind touching the meat, it was just the thought of putting her hand into her dragon's mouth, any dragon's mouth. There is no need to be scared of pulling the meat out if you needed to. I wouldn't hurt you, ever. The former harper was only a little reassured by Rolith's words yet she kept smiling. She picked out a piece of meat and the barred took it eagerly, forgetting to chew in her haste to have food.
"Chew Rolith, chew." Alazne chastised, yet her voice was soft and loving as if she was speaking to a child. I'm sorry mine, I forgot. I won't forget again, I promise. Alazne held out another piece for Rolith, who still took it eagerly, but remembered to chew before swallowing. Alazne kept pulling out pieces of meat for Rolith, who continued to chew every piece.
