Raiin was tired and bored. Sitting in the corner of a pretty empty Kitchen, she couldn’t be bothered to do much. Her jobs done and the escape from her family executed (perfectly she thought). She now had nothing to do. Sitting at a table with her head in her hands, Raiin was talking to herself. Incredulously no one had noticed her yet. Apart from T’im, but Raiin was pretty sure he didn’t count.
As Raiin was in the middle of a conversation with herself her sister walked into the room. Mortified that her sister was being weird in such plain sight, Iindi had to stop her.
“What are you doing?” Iindi hissed into her sister’s ear.
“Oh, Hi Iindi, what do you mean what am I doing?”
“You’re talking to yourself.... in public....... again!”
“You should be used to that by now...... I do it a lot!”
“But not at Nyocia Weyr.....you’re going to destroy my rep!”
“You’re what?’
“My rep,” Iindi gave an exaggerated sigh. “Rep is short for rep...u...ta...tion. K?”
“Yeah,” Raiin said slowly. “But you don’t have one of those.”
“Not if you keep talking to yourself, you’re going to embarrass me!”
Raiin smiled fiendishly at her younger sister, “I embarrass you?”
Iindi’s face showed a small sign of fear as she nodded at her sister. “Raiin, What are you doing? Why are you getting up and why are you looking at me like that? Raiin, Raiin please stop, you’re kinda scaring me. Raiin, Raiin!”
Raiin was now standing in front of her sister, grinning evilly. She lifted up her hands and held them out wide. “Give me a hug!”
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Iindi gave a terrified scream and fled from the kitchen. “You’ll never take me alive!!!”
Raiin sat back down at the table, very pleased with herself. She gingerly lifted T’im off the table and turned him around to face her. “She should’ve seen that one coming.”
( ;D My randomness scores an O at Howarts, I'm not sure if anyone wants to continue this thread..... Good Luck if you do!!!)

OOC: I think you can get away with it here since you aren't actually using Iindi in this thread, but I suggest you fix her profile and get her accepted before playing her further.
BAC: "Be careful, I may have to kick you out if you send everyone screaming from the kitchens," Tirasha said dryly, giving the strange girl who had just chased what she hoped was a family member from the hall a sideways look. Even Tianthe looked a bit taken aback from the incident, although probably more from the raised voices, which the little Green, for all her cheerfullness, had never liked. "The flitters don't like it either," the Healer added for good measure. Willow bobbed his head.
That said, she strode over to where food was laid out on a few long tables, grabbed a tray, and started picking out foods to place on it. Most of the space was taken by meat-type items for her fire-lizards- wildborn, they refused to eat most foods that other more domesticized flitters would- and a couple rolls and a redfruit for herself.
After that, Tirasha was a bit at a loss. Having spoken to the girl, she figured she should probably join her table, but having seen her in action, she was feeling particularly disinclined to do so.
Tianthe made the decision by darting over to inspect the girl's rock, sniffing at it and strongly considering sitting on it in case it was warm. Tirasha hurried after the Green, a withering expression on her face. "Leave that alone." Willow, as usual, echoed her in his own flitter language of irritated chatters.

Well that’s entirely unfair! It wasn’t my fault she screamed, I only asked for a hug.... jeesh! Raiin was about to say so before she realised the lady had said she’d kick her out, which meant she had a certain degree of power, so Raiin held her tongue.
Raiin was just about to get up, and hope to never speak to the rather harsh woman again, when one of the little flits came to inspect T’im. The flit was a rather pretty shade of green. Raiin realised she had lost the opportunity to slip away when the woman berated the little fire-lizard. She thinks I’m mean and that’s why I was talking to a rock! Because I don't have real friends! Great Raiin, Nice job! I wonder how this meal will go down.... You can’t leave without seeming rude..... you have to talk to her without trying to sound like you don’t like her...... AND.... she’s seen you talk to a rock..... you should be afraid..... you have now.... officially..... made your first HUGE mistake...... “Sorry, I didn’t mean disturb your flitters, my sister like to exit, um, dramatically! I wasn’t really going to hug her, I just wanted to scare her. My sister doesn’t like hugs, you see.” SHUTUP! SHUT....UP!!! JUST CLOSE YOUR MOUTH! IT ISN’T THAT HARD! YOU SOUND LIKE A FOOL!!!
Raiin dropped her eyes, and felt like smacking her head on the table, or with T’im, REALLY hard.
I didn’t even get into trouble by being weird, or being stupid..... I OFFERED TO HUG MY SISTER!!! I wish Grei was here...... Raiin desperately tried to imagine her brother coming through the door and saving her form this awful mess. Or shadow, come in and scare the little flits, maybe I could get away! No, don’t scare the flits that’s just mean, Oh you fool!

"I'm sure you could leave your scaring to less public places, I've always felt that was why Candidates had barracks." She eyed the knots on the girl's shoulder. Not that they did as good a job keeping to them as Tirasha would have liked; her life would be lots easier if there was a guard dragon keeping them all in there or something. Kora was far too easygoing for that sort of thing though.
She watched the girl an extra moment, not liking her expression. "Don't go hurting yourself though, I'm not sure there's a person out there who wants to spend more time than they need to with me." Tianthe gurgled and Willow huffily hopped off Tirasha's shoulder to grab a slice of meat and bite into it. The Bronze felt quite the opposite to what his keeper had just said, and so didn't care much to listen to it.
Tirasha sat down, picked up a roll, and started rolling it absently between her bony fingers. "I'm Tirasha, by the way. Figure we may as well get introduced; if you Impress, we'll be seeing plenty of each other." This girl looked like the sort for a Green, and they were by far the most prone to injury. Less skin and feeding problems, but they were nutty enough to make up for it.
Tianthe snorted at that thought and then stuffed half a meatroll into her mouth, despite the fact that her narrow jaw hardly looked big enough to hold a quarter of the thing. Tirasha ignored the flitt; she was only proving her point anyways.

“I’m Raiin,” Tirasha...... where have I heard that name before? Don’t ask, whatever you do, don’t ask who she is!
But Raiin ignored herself.
“I’m terribly sorry...... I remember your name......but not your title..... I truly am sorry!”
Fool
Raiin took her eyes from the table and began to study the woman. Her hair was golden-brown and a reddish tinge stood out in the evening light of the glows, which had only just been turned. Tirasha was very skinny, she looked, literally, like just skin and bone. Her eyes were large and had trouble fitting in with the rest of her face. Her skin was tanned, pleasantly so, not overly done. Her thin lips had a pinkie tinge to them, making them look rather attractive, if they weren’t looking so disapproving.... Her neck was lean and held her head with poise, suits her demeanour, Raiin thought, and approved of. As Raiin usually did, she had cocked her head to the side as she scrutinised, and only then did she realise that Tirasha was about as tall, or short, as she was. Raiins eyebrows raised on surprise, but she quickly got hold of herself and looked to the table again. Why must you make everything you do so obvious! Your just making things better and better!
(*laughs maliciously* I haven't been able to put Raiin in an awkward situation before, This is great!!! ;D)

((XD Tirasha does tend to make people find themselves in those...))
Tirasha smiled slightly, definitely not one to miss the fact that, even if Raiin didn't know what she did, she had heard her name. Hopefully it wasn't for anything bad; Tirasha needed a good reputation if she ever wanted to be a MasterHealer. In her trade, anyways. There wasn't a whole lot good to say about her personality.
"It's fine, I'm just a Healer. No particularly exciting rank." Better than a Candidate, of course. Well, in her opinion, since Tirasha had no plans to ever ride a dragon. "But a useful one around Weyrs, of course." She laughed. "Then again, so are Candidates." Healers wouldn't have any work at all if they didn't have dragonriders, and there wouldn't be any of those without the people who put themselves up to it.
Tirasha couldn't help but frown slightly at Raiin's extended silence, especially as the girl's head slowly tipped to the side. Willow watched the Candidate sideways too, ready to pounce to his keeper's defense if she did anything he found questionable. When Raiin's eyebrows abruptly shot up, Tirasha raised her own, although more slowly.
"Something... catch your attention?" She glanced over her shoulder, just in case it turned out Raiin hadn't been looking at her, but there wasn't anything of note behind her.

“Um... yes.” Raiin submitted, she knew she had been caught out, no use in trying to hide the fact. “I’m sorry... again... I know you mustn’t like it....Um... I only just realised.... you were as short as I am....” No good will come from saying she’s short... and really you didn’t care she was short..... but as short as you is something entirely different.
“And how can you say ‘Just a healer’?” Raiin put extra emphasis on just. “Being a healer is probably one of the most important jobs on all of Pern, and not just in a Weyr. Even though dragon riders exist to fight thread in the skies, healers are still just as important to the survival of Pern.... if not more....” Raiin got a bit lost in the middle of her tirade, completely forgetting about keeping her mouth shut. “Um..... sorry.....didn’t mean to go of on a lecture there, you probably know all that already....”her sentence trailed off. For the second time, in the one conversation, Raiin had the very strong urge to hit her head on the table.
Very hard.
(still enjoying this..... ;D)

"Uh-huh." Quite possibly shorter, and a fair bit skinnier too, thank Faranth. "You know, it's not something I see any reason to brag about." Or point out, but no reason to go further mentioning the obvious.
Of course, this girl was seeming more and more like a Greenrider. Only Greens felt such a powerful drive to point out every flaw in a person, but think they were being perfectly friendly in the process. Tirasha started absently tearing the slightly overcooked top of her roll off.
Now apparently Raiin was trying to make up for that mistake by glorifying Healers, something Tirasha wasn't about to fall for either, much as she liked being flattered. "When you live among dragonriders for long enough, you get the feeling that you're just anything if you're not one of them." She rolled her eyes. In her time at Nyocia, Tirasha had only met one, possibly two, riders who didn't come off that way. Not at the start, anyways. They always fell into the norm eventually.

Ok, now I am just..... just..... Gah! She’s soooooooooo mean, Darnit!!! I’m going to have to leave and seem really mean!!! I really don’t like Ms just-a-healer-who-doesn’t-like-anyone-and-doesn’t-care-if-they-know-it Tirasha....... Grrrrrrr...... I do believe this is going to go down very badly. But she’s so..... so......... UP-HERSELF!!! I am sooooooo going to regret this..... but really...... GAH! I do NOT like her..... and I’m not sure if she deserves it or not..... but I don’t care..... if she wants to think I’m rude and inconsiderate.... let her..... I just hope I do not have to speak to her again!
Raiin new she had a huge frown on her face, and she knew Tirasha probably could see her jaw locking and unlocking, but there was no way Raiin was staying there any longer. She did calm herself down before she spoke next of course.
“I’m terribly sorry if I upset you in any way.” Raiin stood up and looked the healer straight in the eyes, I’m at least going to look self assured as I completely kill all possibility of liking this lady, and her liking me. “I wasn’t bragging about my height, I just didn’t want to lie to you, because A: you don’t seem like a person who’d really respect that, and B: I don’t like to lie to people in general. I don’t care what conceded ideas you have about dragon riders, and really, I don’t care what conceded ideas you now have about me. My sister and I were just being our normal selves, as we are new to the weyr, he haven’t had a chance to speak to many people yet. This kitchen was empty of all but us before you came in here, and there was no one to disturb with our behaviour until you entered. We didn’t need berating, because, truly, we haven’t done anything wrong. Which also means I don’t need you telling me I’m an insubordinate miscreant. I only have one question, why did you come over and sit with me if you obviously didn’t want to? Your manners haven’t been very pleasant when you were sitting with me, so could you just not sit with me, and save your criticising to me keeping the noise down?” Raiin was about to sum up her argument and scamper away, feeling very pleased with herself for keeping her voice level and polite. “I truly didn’t mean to upset you or your fire-lizards. And I’m sorry you don’t like me, I’ve only been trying to be polite. I didn’t want you to count as one of the people who doesn’t want to spend time with you,” Raiin said, looking confused, “but if you really don’t want to talk to me, don’t feel obliged to next time." Raiin took a few breaths before going on, "on a happier note,” her voice completely changed, going back to being perky and cheerful, something she hadn’t felt with Tirasha around, “your fire-lizards are really pretty, I wish a good evening to all of you.”
At that moment Raiin left the table and headed to the door.
Well that was fun.... really won her heart didn’t you!
(sorry, didn't really want to end it, but Raiin wouldn't have done anything different, just trying to be true to the characters!!!
Had fun anyway!!! ;D)

((XD This is great.))
Tirasha blinked.
Definitely a Greenrider.
She wasn't entirely sure what she had done to offend Raiin; Tirasha had been speaking the truth. The girl had said she didn't like lying, so why would she be so angry when Tirasha didn't?
Some people.
Still, Tirasha didn't interrupt as Raiin completed her little rant, and didn't argue as the girl stomped out of the hall. Tianthe hopped onto the Healer's shoulder to watch Raiin's receding figure with a bewildered expression. If the Candidate thought she was pretty, why all the angry words?
Tirasha took a bite of her roll. "Well, I wasn't offended at all. Don't know what went wrong with her." Willow gurgled and Tirasha tickled him with a fingertip. "Do you recall me ever calling her an insubordinate miscreant? No. Saying anything about not liking her?" Though dislike would be perfectly explainable. "Ah, well, I'm sure she's just nervous about being new to the Weyr."
But even though she spoke cheerfully to the Bronze, it was hard not to feel at least a little unsettled. This was someone, more than likely, she would be running into again. It wasn't something Tirasha looked forward to, and not because, as the girl seemed to think she did, she didn't like her.
