OOC. It is for Hearth too, but I couldn't fit it in the title.
IC.
R'kah and Claudiuth were outside for a walk, something to pass the time. They were simply taking a stroll, taking in the fresh air, although Claudiuth was grumbling as usual. "Come on Claudiuth. Can you not be happy for once, and not be complaining about something?" R'kah asked his dragonet, feeling a little irritated himself. Claudiuth's near constant grumbling was starting to wear on him. If only the bad tempered dragonet would be happy and quiet for once, just so he could get some peace. It seemed the only time he got that was when Claudiuth was sleeping.

Hearth grumpily walked down to the Weyrbowl with N'lel. He was very grumpy at the time, and it didn't help that the first thing he saw as Claudiuth and R'kah. Who does that Charcoal think he is? Hearth snapped, Hearth is the one walking outside, not that silly dragon. Hearth, you're both allowed to walk outside N'lel tried to tell the dragon. Enough room for you maybe, but they'll disturb my walking. You're not walking N'lel pointed out to the stationary dragon. Hearth snapped and started walking to Claudiuth. I don't think we should go over there. Hearth ignored N'lel and sped up.

R'kah heard something behind im and looked over his shoulder to see one of the other charcoal dragonets coming towards him and Claudiuth. "Keep walking Claudiuth. We can sit down at that log." He said, wanting a bit extra time to get ready for what might occur between the two charcoals. What for. Claudiuth asked, even as he snaked his head round to see the other charcoal coming towards them. Claudiuth immediately put himself between the oncoming charcoal and his chosen, in his mind, the other charcoal meant danger to his R'kah and he was protecting his chosen. "Claudiuth, please, just walk away. I will not have you fighting with another dragonet." R'kah was worried that Claudiuth might get hurt if it came to a fight and he didn't want that happening. No, I need to protect you from him. R'kah saw the other charcoals weyrling and looked at him with helpless eyes. "Can you get your dragonet to stop. Claudiuth won't move. He thinks he's protecting me." He called out to the other weyrling, Claudiuth growled in protest. I don't think I am protecting you. I am protecting you. There is a difference.

N'lel looked up at R'kah. He tried to get Hearth to back off, but he wouldn't. "I'd love to, but Hearth is difficult." N'lel concentrated himself on making Hearth stop going over there. Slowly, so very slowly, Hearth slowed down. He snarled at the other Charcoal when he was only a foot away, then went back to N'lel. He probably thinks he's better than me cause he is bigger, but he is wrong, Hearth is better! Hearth told N'lel. He glared at the other Charcoal. Hearth, please, he hasn't done anything yet.

Claudiuth just stood, glaring at the other charcoal, getting ever tenser as the charcoal got ever closer. "Snap with Claudiuth." R'kah replied. Please Claudiuth, you are showing me up. Why must you be so stubborn? I am not stubborn. I am protecting you from that lump of meat. Probably thinks himself better then me, but I am the better one. I could say differently. R'kah stepped round Claudiuth and moved closer to the other weyrlng and held out his hand. "I am R'kah. Do not worry about Claudiuth, he doesn't like any dragon, but especially other ones of his own colouring." Even if their dragons couldn't get along, R'kah saw no reason why their riders shouldn't.

N'lel shook R'kah's had. "I'm N'lel, and Hearth doesn't like dragons, especially all the ones bigger than him." N'lel was glad that at least they could get along if the dragons couldn't. It was a shame that Hearth couldn't just like other dragons, but it was part of being a Charcoal. Hearth was staring angrily at R'kah. How dare he think we can get along. He doesn't think you can get along with anybody, we're getting along, not you N'lel told the Charcoal, who grumpily shifted his gaze to Claudiuth.

A growl rumbled in Claudiuth's throat as he saw R'kah shaking hands with the other charcoal's chosen. He dashed in front of R'kah, making for N'lel's legs, all the while growling angrily. "Claudiuth, no!" R'kah called to his dragonet, stepping in front of the charging charcoal as he didn't stop. I will kill that one for touching you. Did he hurt you? No Claudiuth, he was being friendly, unlike you. I was not born to be friendly. Don't I know it. Now stop! Finally the seething dragonet stopped, unable to get past his chosen again, and grumpily sat down, glaring madly at the other charcoal.

Hearth immediately jumped up to protect N'lel. He growled angrily when N'lel told that, under no condition was he to attack them. He wasn't attacking only because he wanted to prove he was better than that other Charcoal. N'lel had jumped when Claudiuth charged at him, but if Claudiuth hadn't charged, Hearth would have, so it was all jsut as well. He looked apologetically at R'kah. "They'll never get along, will they?"

R'kah shook his head sadly, looking between their dragonets. "No, I don't think they will. Which is a shame, two charcoals would make a great team I think." If one charcoal could be so protective and get angered so easily, which was scary enough, two working together would be enough to make anyone run in fear.

N'lel thought about that. "They could be a good team, but they won't get along. It's just to bad. It will be tough to make friends with any of the weyrlings if your dragon is going to snap at all the other dragons." N'lel wished Hearth would act differently. The Charcoal was still looking at Claudiuth, making sure he didn't' move one step closer to him.

"I agree. I am thinking it will be especially hard on us charcoal weyrlings when it comes to ground drills, let alone flying drills." R'kah had visions of one or other charcoal going for one of the other dragonets during a training session and being grounded for the rest of the lesson. He looked down at Claudiuth, What do you say Claudiuth? Put aside your grumpiness and be friends with Hearth? You two would make a formidable team. Are you mad? I don't care if we would make a forbidable team and I don't care for friends. You are one impossible dragon. "Well, I asked Claudiuth if he'd put aside his grumpiness and be friends with Hearth, he wouldn't have it one bit. Even though I said they would make a forbidable team." He shook his head sadly.

Hearth responded before N'lel could even ask him. "If it makes you feel better, which I doubt, Hearth doesn't want to be friends with Claudiuth either. I didn't even have to ask." N'lel was worried about the trouble Hearth could cause. He wanted to learn to fly and go between, but if Claudiuth was doing it better than Hearth, or really most other dragons, N'lel knew he would get mad and try harder. If he couldn't do the best, there was no telling what Hearth would do.

"Well, I can see these," R'kah motioned to Claudiuth, Hearth and towards the weyrling barracks where the other charcoal was. "Are certainly going to be a handful, and not just for us but all those they need to interact with." Claudiuth let out a low growl at that. Who said I would interact with anyone. There will be no interacting on my part. R'kah rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Claudiuth doesn't like the idea of interacting with anyone."

N'lel rolled his eyes at that. "Come to think of it, Hearth doesn't like to anything, especially if it concerns other dragons or people. He is rather cooperative, but he stills hates doing things." Well, he had liked taking a bath, but he went in ridiculously deep. Hearth was definitely going to be a hazard to his own health, N"lel could tell.
Hearth glared at Claudiuth. Why don't you just go run off with Yours, and leave Mine alone he shot at the other Charcoal, glaring menacingly at him.
