Apolloth was sunning on his ledge and B'can was not sure where Flirt was.
Of the three draconics bonded to the tanrider, in fact, only Guess, his brown firelizard, was evident. The brown was playing shoulder ornament right now, tail lightly wrapped around the stocky man's rather thick neck.
B'can had some time off that morning, and it was a beautiful, beautiful day. He was taking advantage of it by wandering across the bowl. For once, he did not have any duties. Both his dragon and his dragon's harness were clean and in good condition...he had even checked over his flight leathers and goggles.
He could, in fact, find nothing to do, and so rare was that in the life of a dragonrider, especially one bonded to one of the larger beasts, that he was savoring every moment of it.
He was not really in a mood to be interrupted, of course. But it was entirely likely he would be. It was, after all, a gorgeous day. A couple of green dragons seemed to be the only things marring the green of the sky, accompanied by assorted firelizards.
None of the females were proddy, though, or Guess would undoubtedly have gone to join them. Flirt might have. She was far more inclined than the brown to hang out with the wild fairs, although she always came home. Greens, of course, did tend to be less loyal. In firelizards, that is. B'can could fault none of the green dragons of Nyocia.
Some had cute riders, too, but Apolloth would always have difficulty flying a green...

Kyrissa had got up extra early that morning as she wanted to have a walk before the lessons began, Opheliath had thought it was a wonderful idea. The young woman was walked quite leisurely, one shoulder taken up by her young green flit, the other by her young bronze flit. The purple and blue dragonet walked slightly ahead while Kyrissa whistled softly and it was the young dragonet that first spotted the tanrider. Oh look, there is someone else out walking. Indeed there is dearheart. [/i] "Why hello there" Kyrissa called out as they got closer, Opheliath happily trotting up to him. Hello sir. I am Opheliath, daughter of Kelth and Wuith. The young sky informed him proudly and sat to wait for Kyrissa. "So my dear Opheliath has already introduced herself. I am Kyrissa, this is Scraps.." She pointed to the bronze, "and this is Daisy." Her hand moves to indicated the green, who was sitting in a rather dainty manner with her tail loosely coiled round Kyrissa's neck.[/center]

That will be quite the striking dragon once she has matured came from the tan on his ledge. No doubt, he was borrowing his rider's eyes.
No robbing the Sands, you
On the other hand, Apolloth would undoubtedly chase the sky dragon once she was mature. "Hey there...Kyrissa. B'can, of tan Apolloth. And the brown is Guess. I have a green too, but she disappeared again."
Guess, of course, had *his* faceted eyes focused on Daisy. He was a good clutch sire, and maybe when the time came the green would remember that!
"Guess, stop eyeing that green...sheesh...male dragons are worse than human males, I swear. Of course, you would know, having that little bronze fellow."
The bronze firelizard was quite handsome, too, but Guess was, of course, completely ignoring *him*.
B'can cast his eyes over Opheliath again. She was quite splendid, really, and perhaps one of the more attractive of the new colors, although from a distance people who did not know dragons might mistake her for a large blue.

"Nice to meet you B'can. That is a rather handsome brown you have there." Kyrissa replied politely, she really did think the brown looked handsome, although she wasn't sure if Daisy thought the same. The little green moved closer to her neck, appraising the brown even as she burrowed her head in Kyrissa's hair. Kyrissa gave a a soft laugh at B'can's comment about male dragons, even as Scraps gave the brown a harsh stare and a warning growl.
"Oh I don't know about that. Scraps is from the same clutch as Daisy and is rather protective of her." Kyrissa commented softly as she scratched Scraps' chin, Opheliath crooned softly in reassurance to both the bronze and green. "Perhaps you could give me a few training tips? Neither of them have even tried flying when I am around to give them a perch to use." She rolled her eyes as she said the last part, showing that she thought they were being silly.

B'can laughed. "Bribery. Bribery is, to my knowledge, the only way to train a firelizard. Of course, Guess has been a lot easier to handle than Stare...that's my green. Browns are smarter. You may want to use Scraps to help you control Daisy. Bronzes can be pretty dominating."
He stretched a little bit. "Although I don't think any of them are as arrogant as my dragon."
I heard that.
You were meant to. Is it not true?
Arrogance is thinking you are better. I am not arrogant. I know I'm better.
B'can...just burst out laughing. "Sorry. It's not you."
Of course, the sky weyrling would probably understand that a draconic comment was responsible for the odd reaction. When one was a rider, one knew that dragons could say the darnedest things. Especially hatchlings. He recalled some of the things APolloth had come out with.

"Bribery, hmm?" Kyrissa murmured as she thought about it, finally deciding that it was worth a shot. "I guess I could give it a try." The words were barely out of her mouth before she giggled at his comment about his dragon. She noticed the signs that he was talking to his dragon and waited quietly, simply raising an eyebrow as he burst out laughing. "What did he say that was so funny?" She asked, relaying the fact that she knew what had caused his outburst. Opheliath snaked her head round to look at Kyrissa, What is so funny? Why is he laughing? The young sky asked, her tone clearly puzzled. I think his dragon said something he thought funny. Kyrissa replied mentally, softly stroking the purple headknobs.

"He said," B'can supplied, "That he is not arrogant, because he *is* better."
B'can glanced over towards his ledge, from which a buttermilk-pale form had just launched himself...the tan was both larger than average and paler than average, which honestly made him quite the beautiful sight.
"And I think he's decided to come join us." Not that B'can was complaining...even if, he suspected, Apolloth was really coming for a better look at the sky dragon.
"And I haven't found anything other than bribery that works, and focusing on the higher ranking firelizard. Stare can be a total pain in the neck sometimes."
He wasn't sure whether to hope his green joined them or hope she didn't. On the one hand, she was trouble. On the other, if she wasn't here, where was she? The kitchens again, no doubt, scrounging. Anyone would think he didn't feed her.
