Gwen was not normally a morning person. One's dragon came before one's preferences.
The small white backwinged to a landing by the lake, although he did not yet plunge into the water. Rather, he hesitated on the shore, looking out at the dawn-kissed waters.
It is beautiful
"It is," Gwen had to admit, sliding down to stand next to her dragon. At least the advantage of being a...the, right now...white rider was that it was easy to mount and dismount. Far easier than a gold would have been. One hand rested on his shoulder, glistening faintly as it did with hints of the original colors.
He was a special dragon, a unique dragon. A dragon she had not, could not have, imagined when she first walked into the Weyr. "Almost as beautiful as you."

"Why do I have to be up at dawn?" If a rider could whine about his dragon's wishes, D'nor was doing it. Glaring at Laukarth half heartedly as she lightly nudged him in the back. Unlike her, D'nor would have loved some more sleep, considering he had three flitts clinging to him at all times, plus a rather hyper dragon and a niece newly Impressed that he wasn't entirely sure was ready for a dragon. Oh piffle, you worry too much. Laukarth giggled, prancing forward only to pause and turn to watch him. Where had she learnt 'piffle' from? D'nor certainly didn't say anything like that.
Sweetie chirped lightly from her perch on his head, the barred was just as happy to be out and about at the un-earthly hour as Laukarth, though Ganesa at least was sensible enough to have tucked herself inside his shirt, claws and head showing as she lightly dozed. This way she was with hers, and she didn't have to do anything. Likewise, Kellris remained curled around D'nor's neck, snoring lightly. It's your fault I have so many of them. Definitely Laukarth's fault, though the green merely snorted at him.
Ooooh look! Someone else is up! Someone else is awake! And he is white... I've never met him I don't think, let's go say hello. And with no further comments, she bounded up to skid to a halt near the white dragon, eyes whirling rapidly with excitement and happiness. Hullo! I'm Laukarth, mine is D'nor. Who are you? I don't think I've met you before, oh no I don't. You are white, did Yours wash all your colour away?

No. I am white, and white is the way I am meant to be Tyrth assured the green, pushing out his chest at the somewhat larger female.
For her part, Gwen glanced over at D'nor. "You look about how I feel," the white rider commented. "Your dragon haul you out of bed before you were ready too?"
She didn't know this greenrider particularly well. Nice colored dragon, she mused. Of course, he was a greenrider, so probably preferred men, and Tyrth might occasionally try to halfheartedly chase...she knew he had no real interest in it. A moment later, her barred flit, Spunky, flickered out of between, and landed on the corral fence. Hrm. Maybe the dragons would be a little messy and leave some firelizard-sized scraps.
"Gwenduinne," she added. "Tyrth's." No need to bother stating color, not with Pern's only white dragon right there, regarding the green with amusement.
She *was* a rather pretty color, although nowhere near as handsome as her Tyrth.

Oh. Laukarth seemed to deflate slightly, thought the movement of him puffing out his chest only served to make her trill in her own unique version of laughing. It was almost a giggle. Then, I think you are a very nice colour, if that is how you are supposed to be. I am supposed to be green, that is why I am green. Mine says I am clever, but I think he is silly. Unlike her rider, Laurie was psotively delighted to be awake at dawn, and even better, there was someone to talk to. And someone for her rider to talk to, though she'd be lucky to get a grunt out of him.
And a half hearted grunt was indeed what Gwen got, a soft yawn and a nod. D'nor wasn't the most sociable in the world, but being bonded to a green had certainly opened his eyes to the fact that people didn't actually bite, unless they were really hungry, or playing he supposed. Sweetie bit him when she played but it was never hard. "Yeah." It was the first word he said, once again glaring slightly at Laukarth.
"D'nor." Came the mumbled response, one hand gesturing vaguely at his green, "Laukarth's." He didn't bother sayign her colour, it was plainly obvious that Laukarth was green, a rather blinding green at times, but a green all the same. Yawning again, he quickly covered it and pointed to the curiously cheeping flitt on his head, "Sweetie. Green's Ganesa and the snoring brown is Kel." Sweetie instantly chirped her greetings, tilting her pale head to one side as she regarded the other rider before nodding her head and chirping again. "Uh, yeah, she says hey."

"This little barred troublemaker is Spunky," Gwen introduced. "And the brown a bit further down the beach is Koll. He's feeling standoffish this morning."
Spunky chirred to the other firelizards, glaring at them. Apparently, she didn't much care for mornings. Well, no. Spunky didn't much care for anything or anyone, including Spunky.
"And I don't think we've really...met," Gwen mused. "Tyrth thinks I should get to know more people." Tyrth regarded her.
Tyrth thinks you should bathe him now. The white plunged into the water.
"Tyrth also shows the dirt," she mock-grumbled. "Makes me glad he's so small." She followed the white into the lake, rolling up her trousers. "I can still talk, though."
And yes. He definitely did have streaks of dust on him...that might have blended into the hide of a darker dragon, but were clearly visible on his creamy white skin.
