The sky was that odd shade it takes only just before dawn. At the entrance to the wher caverns sat a tired looking wherhandler, a petite woman with a blue wher who's head rested in her lap...as best as it would fit, anyway, her not having much lap.
Silia ran a hand along Silisk's muzzle. "At least it was a productive night." She was tired, but not quite ready to go to bed. The blue, his wings flopped like wilted leaves, seemed to agree with that assessment, slowly whirling eyes regarding her with an affection the sharp tempered beast would never show if anyone was there to see it.
Which the two thought there was not, but there was no certainty that they were right. The sun was still a good way below the horizon, however, and the dragonriders were not likely to be awake, even those unfortunate enough to draw dawn sweeps.
Dragonriders, Silia thought with a snort. All that glamor...and everyone forgot those who worked more quietly, at night, often making sure those riders had the firestone they needed.
Dragonriders.
