First App? Who Refered you: Sparrow
Name: Gwenduinne
Age: 20
Rank: Wingrider
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance:
In winter, her hair is light brown. In summer, when the sun bleaches it, it lightens to more of a dark blonde color. She wears it long and it has a slight, pleasant wave to it. She is a pretty girl, this one, her features elfin and her form somewhat delicate, without being either fragile or boyish. From her carriage, she is entirely aware of the fact, there being a certain arrogance in her bearing. Her eyes are a deep, sapphire blue, almost an ocean color. She would, perhaps, cross into beautiful were they not so harsh.
She moves with a poise, and only wears trousers when forced to for heavy work. She knows how to dress, and for Gathers and parties does so very carefully indeed, showing a liking for 'shinies'. Her voice is a little sharp, and sadly, she does not have a good sense of pitch.
Personality:
Gwenduinne, who lets her friends call her Gwen, is proper, proper, proper. She won't be a greenrider, because they're all very *friendly* persons and female blue and brownriders like other girls, she's sure of it. No, she's going to Impress a queen...a gold, ideally, but she'd settle for a mere violet. Because real women only ride queens.
You've probably already worked out that not many people call her Gwen. She's obnoxious, she openly despises lesbians and frankly most female riders, always careful not quite to pass the line that might get her thrown out of candidacy. She's here for the power and prestige of riding a queen, not to be one of Those Women.
Does she have redeeming qualities? Most definitely. She possesses a strong sense of duty and is incredibly loyal to those who do manage to get through her facade. She can change, although it's likely to take a lot of work and effort from those around her. She also does what she sets out to do. Underneath the shallow 'proper hold girl' is a fine person. Getting her out, though...
History:
Gwenduinne's father is a wealthy man by the standards of this diminished Pern. He is also wealthy in children. From two marriages, he has fathered no less than eight, of whom Gwen is number six and the first from his second wife. It was her mother who instilled in her traditionalist ideas about a woman's place and duty.
Of average intelligence and slightly above average looks, they had no doubt that Gwen would marry well. She was raised to be a good farmwife, trained in the skills running a household would require. As soon as she was fourteen, suitors were sought. She was engaged at fifteen, but days before her sixteenth birthday, tragedy struck. Her fiance, Kelmar, was killed in a riding accident.
Being genuinely fond of him, she was devastated. She asked her parents for six months before, as it were, opening the bidding again. Three months later, a Searchrider from Nyocia came to the Hold. Pleased at the prospect of having a dragonrider, maybe even a queenrider, from his family, her father encouraged her to accept Search.
Besides, it would be a fresh start. And a chance at status few women, especially now, obtained.
That was not what would happen, though. Two full clutches Hatched and Impressed, and Gwen was left on the Sands. She became torn between the hope that she was meant for gold and the fear that she was unworthy even of green.
Then she stepped out onto the Sands a third time, with a gold egg resting amongst a clutch of 25...one of which as suspected to be a dud. It was too small and it seemed to radiate nothing.
The egg she paid attention to was the gold. The small egg? Unimportant. Until it hatched after all, hatched into a tiny white dragon. And promptly turned Gwen's world upside down. She would never be Weyrwoman now...but instead white rider, and what could have fit better? Nothing.
Pets: Barred firelizard Spunky, brown firelizard Koll
Other: Gwenduinne is a truly excellent cook, and could probably have a good career as such should she not Impress.
Dragon Name: Tyrth
Dragon Age: 3
Dragon Size: 16 meters
Dragon Color: White
Tyrth is very small and very white. The shade of his hide seems, in a way, thick and has a solid sort of creaminess to it. Tyrth’s talons are very black, standing out against his white paws. Any dirt will stand out like a beacon against his hide, keeping Tyrth clean is sure to be somewhat troublesome. At 16 meters, Tyrth is a very small dragon.
Dragon Personality:
As the only currently living White and the smallest of the dragons, Tyrth is very obsessed with proving himself. What he lacks in size he makes up for in ego and he can be extremely vain and rude to everyone around him. When it comes to female dragons, Tyrth chases more to prove they can than because he wants to mate. He seems to lack any interest in intimacy and only wants to make himself seem like a lot more than he appears.
