Hope had tried to hold it as much as she could, for her mate of many turns to return. But he was gone on a mission for their human pet. It was time to rise and she couldn't hold it. The gold firelizard stretched out a creeling sound leaving her as she felt the lust roiling through her. She heard a curse from her bonded, and a mumble from the brown beast she had impressed. With that heard and done, the gold took off form the ledge the brown Toath was on.
She swept into the bowl, and found herself a rat, pouncing and draining it the gold called her challenge. Who dared to try and take such a wiley and aged gold? She wasn't OLD but she had several turns of flight experience of behind her, she called out again this time plaintively. Would no one chase her? She was waiting till she saw males, before she took to the sky fully.
Her wings folded at her side, rustling as she waited to see them. Who would pick her, who would chose her? Who would she chose? Who would sire her next clutch?

Tawny had been playing with Amethyst, the pair chasing each other and at the same time teasing Claudiuth. The firelizards were no longer afraid that the charcoal dragon would eat them, as he had gotten used to them being around. The fact that the charcoal kept getting a tap on the nose from R'kah every time he tried to, might have helped him get over his need to eat them, annoying though they were.
Suddenly Tawny let out a croon and disappeared between, reappearing out in the weyrbowl. He crooned to the gold, diving down to catch up and vermin and gulp it down before regaining the height he had lost in the dive. Again he crooned, telling the gold how he was the only one worthy of her and not some silly Bronze or Tan.

A gold.
A queen! There was no way Trouble was not going to chase...and the fact that T'mar was begging him to help scrub Freyjath?
Not at all material to the bronze firelizard. He launched upwards from the lake for a moment, then dropped to find a kill to blood. He drew the energy-giving liquid into himself, and then was up and away and after her. He had not chased this queen before. She was an older queen, likely a smart queen, and he knew enough, young or not, not to waste energy. So far, the only one close to her was a brown.
He could beat a brown! The sun glinted off his bronze, green-tinted wings as he pursued her, but it glinted even brighter from her. No male, no lesser female, could outshine a gold when she glowed with the brilliance of her lust.

Azel had been watching, calculating, stratigizing... Her alure had hit him when the first few glints began to glow in her hide. He was still young, could he hope to catch a queen? She bugled her challenge, he would answer. He was ready...
The tan darted after her, but soon he realised he had company. Not the rivals but another annouce of the blue veriety; Bounce. He chittered that this would be fun, that everyone was so big, but with a hiss and a swipe Azel banished the blue who was forced to retreat. Now he could concentrate on the lovely gold again. Age did not matter, if anything she was in her prime. Such a female.... She must be his!!!

The challenge of a gold reached Master Wherhandler Sabre's younger bronze. Kelna had been hunting when he caught either the scent or the sound of a gold.
Gold!
Kelna's multi-faceted eyes gleamed as he transferred between to reemerge at the side of the ready gold. His mentor Akila had taught him the finer points of Flying, but the only practice the younger, ruddier bronze had was flying greens and a few barreds. Here was his chance to test his mettle against the utmost, the supreme female.
His competition was a brown, a tan, and another bronze. It was the bronze he thought might give him the most trouble, though all three of the others were unknowns, and therefore equally likely to give hims trouble in his bid to claim himself a queen.

Hope watched the arrival of the males. Hissing at them all. How dare they think themselves worthy of her! She hissed again, lust and anger bursting through her as she took to the sky. They would have to prove themselves, she had a male better then them - since she had started to fly. Guardian had been her mate for so many turns. She hissed again and then darted up to the sky.
Her wings took her high, and high. The males would have to try rather hard to get up to her. She had many turns of practice on how to avoid males. Guardian being the only one that knew her antics. These males would have to work their tails off to get her.

A tan. Another bronze. Trouble would beat them all.
The gold was a canny one. Older, he realized, cannier than he could ever be...until, at least, he had turns of experience.
Which he did not. He had youth and strength, though, to beat his wings after her, to rise into the skies in pursuit of her beauty. He eased off a little. If he kept flying at this pace, he would tire long before she did. She was larger than he, after all, stronger. Large to carry the eggs he dimly knew would come of this.
Maybe his human would acquire another one, or maybe not. Maybe T'mar had enough to deal with, and he banked a little, his wings caught the air.
They were already starting to ache a little, so strong was her ascent.

Tawny crooned to the queen as she began rising higher in the sky, wings flapping hard to gain height. Suddenly he caught a thermal and went soaring up, and up, and up. Up far higher then he had wanted to go, higher then he needed to be. Then again, perhaps he could use that to his advantage. He banked round, gazed fixed on the glowing golden form, tracking her through the air. Oh yes, he wasn't going to let a bit of height get in his way of proving his worthiness.

A young fire lizard is not as seasoned as his older relatives, and this is especially obvious in a queen flight where males compete for favor. Queen lizards have always saved their best tricks for Flights, and thus have always been able to knock out less fit specimens in the race to father a clutch.
One such casualty was Kelna. The brash young bronze managed to power-stroke his way through the thinning atmosphere to follow the Flyring queen, but he was not seasoned enough to stay aloft. His wings did not find enough lift in the dwindling air currents, and so he fell from the sky, spiraling until he could find a clear destination. He flitted between.

And so the games began, already one male hadn't the heart to continue. it was sad to see her mate was not here, she would forgive him! For now she must choose the best for her clutch. She twisted her body and plummeted suddenly, wings snapped tight to her body as she made her dive, then at the last moment out came her wings causing her to corkscew in a sideways glide.
She creeled to the males, calling them again as she made her loops and twists. Making them follow her, watching every single one of them. They had some proving to do still. The father of her clutch must outdo her in every way he possibly could.

Trouble did not copy the queen. No. He soared higher than her, catching a thermal, then dropping back to her level in a series of rolls.
If she could show off, so could he, and bronzes were that little bit smaller, that little bit more agile. The wind caught him, the wind tossed him to the side, but not so far that he lost her.
Nothing would make him lose sight of her, and nothing would make HIM give up. Even if his wings would ache for days afterwards, he was going to claim her. Or at the very least be in at the end, be there for her to possibly choose.
She was so beautiful, and he wanted her more than he had anything...since the last rising female. Ahem.

Tawny squawked as the gold dived, hastily furling his own wings tight to his body and following her down. However he snapped them back open a short distance above, coming out in a barrel roll that he turned into and spiralling loop. He twisted and turned in several aerobatic movements, crooning every so often to the beautiful golden queen. He was smaller and more agile then the bronze, able to do more complex moves. And he was using that to his full advantage, doing moves that the bronze would find hard to follow, let alone copy. He wasn't going to let some greedy bronze with ambitions get in his way.

Hope had to make a choice, and a choice she did. She lead them higher and higher again - straining even her own wings. It was time for change, time to create a new generation. Her wings folded as she plummeted. Guardian was not here - so she would pick the next best thing. Her tail swept over Tawny's back. He was the chosen one, let the young one show her what he had to offer.
Congratulations Tawny

((Woot))
Tawny was determined, even with his wings starting to tire, he was determined to keep going and prove he was the best. He follow the golden beauty up, Rukbat almost blinding him as he flapped his wings to get higher. Every inch counted, every centimetre. Then the gold was plummeting, the brown hadn't expected that, but what was even more unexpected to the brown was the sweep of the gold's tail. He turned after her, his wings wide as he reached out to twine his neck and tail with hers.
