For once, maybe only the very hungry would be disgruntled about eggs hatching, seeing as the dragons started humming just as the cooks would have been setting out lunch in the lower caverns. No thunderstorms boomed overhead, no blustery winds howled through the Bowl, and the sun was out, shining cheerfully down on the throng of eggs about to hatch new lifemates for the Candidates. Even Nayarath was uncharacteristically cheerful, and seemed happy to be getting rid of these eggs that she felt she had been watching over forever. It was a new start for the Weyr in a lot of ways; not only would there be (hopefully) twenty-two new weyrlings in Nyocia, but this was a clutch sired by a new mate for the senior queen, the Weyr had a new leader, and Lilac was able to watch the hatching since she didn’t have a clutch of her own to bother with this time around. Kora sat up in the stands, relieved to have Nayarath not whining and making sure she stayed beside her. Maybe it was just the lack of a queen egg this time around that made the difference, but she liked to imagine that maybe her grumpy Gold was finally realizing that maybe all the Candidates weren’t so bad and her eggs weren’t hatching out of sheer rudeness. Maybe this change of mood would stay. Lilac and Squeak seemed quite entertained by that train of thought, and pursued their own little versions of a laugh, obviously doubting it. Soot was with Kora though; he hated it when the many females in his family were broody since he always seemed to get the brunt of it. The three were gathered on Kora’s lap and shoulders, Squeak brought out a little by Lilac’s comforting presence and curiosity. Candidates were lining up on the Sands and weyrfolk and older riders were filling the stands, all they needed now was for the eggs to start hatching. ~~~ This clutch's theme is going to be utilized a little differently (as in, it probably won't be so obvious from the names/no name origin) but... it does have a theme song! Clicky clicky Sorry guys, it's not as funny as last time, but it is a good one. :3 Eggs Hatched 21/22:BronzeBarredBrown BrownBlueTanGreenBarredBronzeBlueGreenBronzeBlueTanGreenBrownBarred BlueBronzeBlueGrullo/TanDudDragonets Impressed 21/22: Bronze Jourenth to S'toltenBrown Braganth to NPCBlue Pirath to K'roiTan Lueth to NPCBarred Rolith to AlazneBarred Ath to EstrynaBronze Volacoth to NPCGreen Skrith to AndilayThe Eggs: Desert Egg: A sandy brown, this egg lives quite easily up to its calling. It’s speckled with dark browns, blacks, and whites, and has a somewhat grainy surface. Although definitely a large egg, it blends in pretty well with its surroundings. Oasis Egg: This egg, although smaller than its neighbor, is about the same color. The main difference is the spot of green-lined blue that sits quick prominently on the eggshell. Breeze Egg: Light blue with wisps of white, this egg looks is just a little on the small side. Brush Egg: This egg is shades of dry greens, with dashes of brown in random places across the surface. It is middle sized. Bramble Egg: Although exactly the same size as its neighbor, the Bramble egg has had its colors swapped. It’s brown with a few mossy green splotches running across the shell. Lunar Egg: This egg is mostly plain, a dark gray-black and on the large side. It’s only marking is the crescent of more silver gray on a less-shown side of the egg. Magma Egg: This egg is a mix of dark reds and browns, and a little larger than the Lunar egg next to it. Earth Egg: A cool, loamy brown dyes this eggshell, with a few green marks dribbling through. It is a small egg. Root Egg: Also brown, the Root egg is darker than its neighbor, and has lines of lighter browns and black spider-webbing across it. Although larger than the Earth egg, it is still fairly small. Sprout Egg: The last of the current brown trio, this egg is lighter brown with a bright strand of green running up one side. It is middle sized, although also a bit small. Torrent Egg: A great mixture of blues clash on this eggshell, and they all look sort of like the wind decided to blow all the color in one direction so it circles in a wave-like fashion around the egg. It is a larger egg. Reflection Egg: A very calm opposite of its neighbor, the Reflection egg is a cool, plain silver-blue, its surface is kind of slick. It is also the smallest egg in the clutch. Marble Egg: This smooth eggshell is colored with a mix of grays and browns, and this one is obviously the largest in the clutch, made to seem even more ominous by the small Reflection egg beside t. Cloud Egg: This egg looks like how maybe it would look if you were standing inside a cloud: white with a few shadowy grays mixed in. It is small. Foam Egg: A blue base and a patch of white at the tip mark this large egg. Dust Egg: Light brown with a thin stripe of blended black going around it, this egg almost has the markings of a Tan. It’s a middle-sized egg. Tropic Egg: This egg is a mixture of light green, red, blue, and yellow; all seem to be fighting their way to the very outside of the shell or trying to ‘hide’ behind other colors. It is a middle sized egg, but on the small side. Grayscale Egg: This egg looks like someone made a black-and-white copy of the Tropic egg next to it, with alternating colors all in the same place, but also all in shades of white, gray, and black. Green Egg: This egg is just what its name implies: green. It is middle sized. Dusk Egg: A large egg, the Dusk egg is overall colored with blues that are darker towards the base and lighter towards the tip, this egg also sports a faded line of yellow near its tip and black at the base. Fog Egg: Although this egg looks like it could be blue, its color is masked by a layer of dark gray that just seems to hint at a better background. It is a middle-sized egg. Festival Egg: This egg has a deep night-sky blue background, but seems to have fireworks in a variety of colors exploding in random places across the eggshell. For all its exciting color, it is of average size.

Koroi could hear the thrum of the hatching as he finished up his bath. Great. Just- just great. Well, at least he was clean. He stood up quickly and threw a towel around his waist. The best thing to do right now would be to get back to the barracks and change into his impression robe. Of course, when one is in a hurry and doesn't pay attention to his surroundings.. things happen... like smacking into the door overhangs... a few times.
Kuroi walked slowly to his cot, rubbing his soar forehead. "Oww.... why do the doorways have to be so short..."
"Because you are unobservant as well as freakishly tall. And I mean freakish. I know, I am too." Kuroh was fussing with the lay of his robes, but no matter how you looked at him, he seemed like they were meant for him. The robe fit just right, and seemed to compliment his tall frame.
Kuroi couldn't get over the fact that he had to wear a dress to impress. Nor could he get over how his twin looked so good in one... he was afraid that this image would haunt him for a while....
"C'mon and hurry! Just throw on your robe already. Your hair will dry out with the heat of the sands. I'm sure the dragons won't mind that you weren't able to spike it... besides, it already looks kinda spiky from the times you've ran your fingers through it. Uh... how many times did you run into the ceiling? You're starting to show a bruise on your right temple." Kuroh reached over and lightly brushed the spot.
Kuroi winced a little as he threw on some knickers and his robe. "I'm fine, and I don't care about my hair, lets just go."
"Ok, ok. Then after you." Kuroh tried to subdue the smile that was trying hard to get out.
Kuroi frowned at his brother and dipped his head as he left the barracks entryways and headed for the hatching grounds. "I do learn, you know. Just get careless when I don't think about it. It hasn't become a fixed reaction yet- ducking under doorways."
Kuroh chuckled a little and Kuroi glowered at him. "What? Little brother, I never get tired of watching you do silly things. But I do worry. Just be more careful or you might really hurt yourself."
Kuroi waved away his brothers concern as they stepped out onto the sands. "Yeah yeah. I know already." He trudged through the shift sands to stand before the queen and bow respectfully to her. Kuroh following suite.
Kuroh came up beside him and gave him a sideways questioning look. "Good luck?"
Kuroi nodded. "Good luck indeed, and break a shell." The twins tapped knuckles and patted each others shoulders, a ritual of sorts for them before calmly getting into the half circle formation of candidates.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The dragon thrumming caught Andilay unawares... she was sharpening her knives... and the distraction kinda made her cut herself. Not exactly a good thing... especially for a swordswoman. She placed her fingers in her mouth as she looked through her packs for a suitable bandage.
"Ow owow ow ow owwww! Shhh. You saw nothing!" Andilay did a little shifty eyes to make sure no one had seen her odd behavior before finally finding a few bandages. "Ah-hah!" She sat down and pulled out an ointment from her pocket and smeared it on the two bleeding fingers. The cuts weren't that deep, but they would smart for a little. She wrapped them carefully before fling off her clothes in an immodest striptease.
She had been lucky in that she had just aired out her impression robes the other day, as well as had one of the seamstresses take a look at it and take it in(and out) where it needed to be done. Andilay carefully put on the robes and fussed with her hair. Up? Or down? Braided? Not braided? Will the dragons really care about her appearance? She thought not, so she re did her braid and threw it to her back. Since she wasn't fighting today, she didn't need to worry about hiding it... but there was one other thing.... she hated to be without a weapon... and the robe and sandals left little place for her to stick one of her customary knives or daggers.... Her hair pin it was. She loved the deceitful little thing, sharp as a fresh broken shell and would look harmless with it's simple colored strands dangling prettily out it's end. She placed the dangerous ornament into the top of her braid and looked at herself in the mirror. She would do. Then it was off to the sands.
She enjoyed the bustle of the halls and then the sharp crunch of the sands. She couldn't help but grin broadly as she once again gave a very deep bow to the queen. She should show the proper respect shouldn't she? And then off she went, practically dancing in her steps as she made her way to the female candidates.
"Food, food, food, food." Happily singsong as she carried her flitter to the dining hall, Robin did not appear to even be mildly canddiate like as she poked her head into the hall long enough to grab something for her flitter - she herself was hungry but not hugely so - and shove it in the green's mouth. A muffled squawk was her response, before the green began happily trying to munch on the meat shoved in her jaws. Of course, that disgruntled shriek would be repeated when Robin dropped her. Leaving the green to beat her wings and fly up to land back on her bonded's shoulder.
Dragons. Humming. Perhaps to an older person, the response would be immeadiate, but the thing about Robin was that she was still young. Still young enough to have a foster carer, still young enough to not always understand. But that didn't stop her knowing what she needed to so, it jsut stopped her doing it until someone else rushed past. Right, robes. She was a candidate now, she was a big girl and she was going to a hatching!
Rushing to the barracks, Robin tossed her robe over her head, wrinkling her nose in distaste when the white garmet proved again to be more than just a little huge on her little frame, but that didn't stop her attempting to run in it. Perhaps, next to some of the others, Robin might look quite hilarious. Small girl, massive robe, and tripping every second step. She hadn't put her long hair up either, unfortunately, which meant pushing it back out of her face.
Bowing deeply to the queen, Robin nearly fell face first again as she stumbled to stand beside the other girls, perhaps not really noticing how much taller they were in comparison, too busy bouncing excitedly. "Hatching! You watch Mama, Papa, I'll make you proud!"
Alazne was about to set into the sandwich she had just got done when she hard the humming. Shards, the eggs were hatching, what a time for them to hatch. She quickly stood up, knocking her chair over in her haste and rushed to the candidate barracks to retrieve her robe. With moments she had reached her room and she deftly slipped the robe on before going back out the door. As she jogged towards the hatching grounds she started to hum, much like the dragons were although not quite. I can just see myself riding a pretty barred, maybe a green. Blue would be stretching it, I think. She thought to herself as she made for the sands, dropping a curtsey before the golden queen. "Thank you for letting me attend, wonderful queen." She said softly to the golden dragon before taking her place with the other girls.
((I'm in a rush, traveling the rest of today and tomorrow))
Senra was delighted to find it was finally time for the hatching. She hurried out quickly, wondering the whole time what would happen. It would be nice to get any dragon, though she knew what colors she preferred. It didn't matter what she liked much anyway, the dragons would be the ones deciding. She could only hope she would Impress, but if she didn't, there would be other times.
Setheatolten heard the humming of the dragons and realized it was time. He hoped feverishly he wasn't going to be late or anything. Quickly, he changed to the proper clothing and went out to the sands. The heat caught up to him quickly, but he ignored it. Setheatolten was nervous, but ready.
The first egg to hatch was the Marble egg, its mottled surface cracking to reveal a large Bronze hatchling. It managed to make itself look regal just crawling from the shards of the egg, and once it was free, the dragonet gazed proudly around the sands before heading towards the male Candidates. He was quick to walk up to and nudge one of the boys, Setheatolten. Jourenth has found you, S'tolten. Are you glad?The next egg cracked shell as the Bronze nudged its chosen boy, maybe distracting some attention from the first hatchling. A Barred eased her way out of the Cloud egg, but was slow about doing that, and didn’t seem in any hurry now that she was free. The hatchling yawned and stretched, her eyes whirling with vague amazement at this newfound lack of boundaries in movement. Although she eventually started moving in the general direction of the female Candidates, at the moment she didn’t seem to be in any hurry and it would probably take her a while to get there. As if to break the monotony of the easy-going Barred, two more eggs hatched- or more exploded against each other. A slight flurry of movement followed, leaving the shards of the Brush and Bramble eggs well broken into the sand and a pair of Browns wrestling for freedom from their tangled appendages. One eventually escaped and rushed towards the male Candidates, a bit too quickly in fact, and he soon found himself plowing through one, only to scramble off of him and leap onto a different boy for Impression. The second Brown didn’t look particularly interested in his brother, and sat down to lick at a few nasty little cuts his right wing had earned. Amid the mess, the Grayscale egg surreptitiously hatched and a Blue hatchling slunk from the shards and, like most of the dragonets before him, headed for the boys. He didn’t look too keen on hanging around to attract attention, and quickly made his way to Kuroh. Look K’rohMine, Pirath has found you! He seemed to find this quite entertaining, and rumbled, but soon found his belly rumbling too and set to the usual of begging for food. Meanwhile, a dusky Tan struggled from the confinements of the Foam egg, his every movement exuding impatience. Apparently hatching took too long for this young dragon, and as soon as he was out of the egg, he was off and running towards the boys. The injured Brown decided to move right about then though, and ended up getting knocked over again when this larger brother ran into him. The Tan snarled irritably and then started running again, soon colliding with a boy that he quickly made his lifemate. The Brown still wasn’t acting too phased by his unlucky beginning in life, but edged a little closer to the safety of Nayarath before settling down to lick at a few new scrapes. With the Barred stopped to inspect the split tip of her slender tail, and eggs shaking but not quite hatching yet, it looked like the action was pausing for a moment. ~~~ Name: Bronze Jourenth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Jourenth is a very large Bronze, 45 meters long and with a powerful build that accents his size. His hide is a deep bronze shade, touched with metallic greens. Also very pure in color, Jourenth bears no discerning markings, unless one counts the proud bearing he always manages to keep up. Personality: Vain, vain, vain. Had Pern dragon kings, Jourenth would be their king. He’s not much for consciously showing off, simply expecting his very existence in a place to be plenty good enough. Also very strict, Jourenth is not one to ever even try to bend rules, and won’t let his rider ever attempt to do so either. He likes things straightforward and biased in his direction, and, as long as it’s coming from his point of view, everything always will be. Color Code: BE8D2E Name: Brown Braganth Age: Hatchling Appearance: A striking, almost olive brown shade colors Braganth’s hide, marked with swirls of even darker shades on his shoulders and haunches. He has a large, powerful build, with a thicker-than-average tail and wide wings. A large Brown, Braganth almost reaches 40 meters in length. Although not the most agile, he has the stamina to chase queens. Personality: Braganth can be slightly competitive, although it only shows during a contest; afterwards, whether he won or lost, it’s totally off his mind. Braganth likes to show off too, and can be a tad argumentative. Overall, he just wants to look his best for the females, and isn’t the sort to let things get in the way of that. Color Code: 2D3011 ((NPC/Adoptable)) Name: Blue Pirath Age: Hatchling Appearance: Pirath’s hide is a darker, slate sort of blue, although he has a patch of very dark, almost black, blue over each eye. His wing membranes are lined with the darker blue too. With a slightly heavier build and larger size – just over 29 meters-, Pirath is fairly intimidating for his type of dragon Personality: Pirath is a bit of a joker and a lot a flirt. He loves to tease and prod, especially females. There’s a daredevil streak in him too, and Pirath is never one to hold back on any stunt he has in mind to carry out, and will drag any riders along for the ride without much thought towards how they would be feeling. Although probably not the best dragon to be carrying Candidates back to the Weyr on, he makes a good Searchdragon too. Color Code: 484B7E Name: Tan Lueth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Lueth’s hide is just a touch darker than the average Tan’s, and his black stripes somehow always manage to look just a bit more black. There is some dark brown running along the edges of his wing-fingers and down the back of each leg. A slightly larger Tan, Lueth stands at just under 41 meters. Personality: Lueth likes to get things done. He will not ever allow himself to procrastinate and hates it when he does have to wait for things. Everything he does, from the things he says to the way he eats, will be quick, to the point, and over with as quickly as he can get it so that he can move on to something else. Color Code: AE9A53 ((NPC/Adoptable)) ((Aaand just in case someone feels a need for a Healer... o.O)) Tirasha took her usual grouchy stance up at the edge of the sands, and her mood was only darkening at the sight of injuries appearing in the first few eggs hatching. Shards, she hated these things. With Tianthe on her head, she wasn't easy to miss either.... at least she didn't have to worry about anything other than Impressed dragonets and newly-nonCandidates making their way over.
K'roh frowned and then smiled and looked down at his new blue hatchling.. "That's odd. I didn't realize I was hiding. Was I hard to find?"
Not particularly. Can we go get food now? I'm famished!! The large blue's belly rumbled for effect and the young beast looked up pityingly at his mine.
K'roh chuckled as he patted his dragon's head and waved to his twin. "See you at the feeding table brother! I'll be waiting!"
He then easily led his blue off the sands and to the rows of meat filled bowls ready for dragon consumption.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But a few moments into the hatching and already his brother had an impressed dragon. At least it was a handsome blue, instead of a gangly green of bubbly barred. Kuroi shivered at the thought. Such unpleasant pictures... no! Thank goodness they were not reality...
Apparently this hatching was getting off to a violent start. Especially with one candidate mauled and then the impressed pounced on, another impressee plowed into... he was almost afraid of what his dragon might do- almost.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seems the hatching was getting off to a ruff start, though a bronze hatching first and impressing first did wonders for the prosperity of the weyr and possible outcome of the hatching. Bronzes first were always good luck.
Andilay shifted a little in her stance. her eyes scanning the trembling eggs. They were waiting to come out and say hello- she knew this. With so many people here to greet them, they would be happy. Hopefully, one would be bleating her name in abject affection.
Truth be told, Se'tolten was surprised at how quickly he had Impressed. Somehow, it had seemed like it wouldn't be quite that quick. Jourenth, on the other hand, wasn't fazed at all. He nudged Se'tolten and told him that he was quite hungry.
Alright then, we can get you something to eat Se'tolten told him. This pleased Jourenth well enough. He nudged Se'tolten and they headed off together. Jourenth pointedly ignored the Blue that had Impressed and his rider. That silly Blue should be smart enough to stay out of my way. Se'tolten didn't do anything to argue with the dragon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Senra was rather nervous now, but also expectant. She couldn't wait for the rest of teh eggs to hatch as well. She wondered who the Barred dragon would Impress to. There was to much wondering to do. Senra watched the eggs, wondering which one might hold her dragon.

Things got going again quickly when the Reflection and Tropic eggs finally revealed their hatchlings. A Green forced its small head through a hole in the glassy Reflection egg, her eyes wide and whirling with a rainbow of colors as she looked out at this new world. Amazed by all this, she apparently forgot to finish up hatching and just sat there with her head poking out. The Barred was not so calm, and as soon as there was a whole big enough to fit a toe though, she was raking it with her young claws and soon had battled her way out of the eggshell. A few shards still clung to her hide as she rushed across the sands and settled in front of Alazne. Look AlazneMine, Rolith finally got out of that egg! Can we- I go eat? I’m hungry! The Barred that had hatched earlier had made it to the girls and had been pacing slowly past each, inspecting them with a calm demeanor not usually seen in hatchlings. She paused to watch her sister Impress, gave her own aching belly a sideways glance, and raised her pace to a slow trot. It didn’t last long though, and soon she stopped in front of Estryna and nuzzled the girl cheerfully. EstrynaMine, I think Ath’s belly has caught up to her. It calls for a friend to feed it. Even her voice was as calm and smooth as everything she’d done so far had been. The Green apparently decided she was hungry then too, and finished fighting her way out of the egg, only to fall on top of the violently shaking Magma egg moments later. The weight of the Green didn’t have much effect on the tough shell, but it apparently infuriated the dragon within, for it started moving somehow more vigorously. The Green squawked and scrambled off it, making a quick dash for the girls. A Bronze emerged from the Magma egg as the Green scampered away, the shell finally splitting cleanly in half so he could just step right out of it. He turned to sniff at the egg that had held him imprisoned for so long, then snorted derisively and loped towards the boys. It didn’t take him long to find his lifemate, and soon he was headed with the boy for a first meal. The Green, meanwhile, had managed to get her legs, tail, and wings all tangled, but wasn’t falling and wasn’t adjusting her path from the girls. There was one girl in specific she headed for, and even if her uneven path didn’t make it clear, the unwavering gaze she managed to keep on her did. Finally the Green collapsed in a tired heap a few paces in front of Andilay. Andilay, Skrith is so tangled up and tired and hungry! Help me! Of course, the eggs weren’t going to stop hatching because a couple hatchlings were having trouble. A Blue nudged its way from the Breeze egg and trotted halfway to the Candidates, then stopped, unsure of who to go to, and instead sat down and raised a hind leg to scratch an itch on his neck. The Green egg, not surprising despite its slightly larger size, revealed a Green just as green as her egg had been, but she seemed too excited about having hatched to go Impress quite yet. Instead she just started running around the sands, nudging shivering eggs and sniffing at her two brothers who were sitting, bumping even Nayarath curiously. The Gold didn’t act the slightest bit motherly to her odd daughter, and instead just snorted and gave the hatchling a not-so-gentle shove in the rear towards the Candidates again. The Brown watched this, his eyes whirling nervously, and edged away from Nayarath. ~~~ Name: Barred Ath Age: Hatchling Appearance: Although a bright and very pale green Ath’s hide is green nonetheless, and she is marked a Barred simply by the very delicate violet stripes running, in the usual manner, across her hide. She has a slender build, and is of middle size, reaching about 26 meters. Personality: Ath is a very easy-going dragon, always willing to just ‘go with the flow’ and not worry about life. She likes taking her time in everything and, oddly enough, is good at finding the easiest way through a situation (although, that can also come out as the laziest way through too). Always friendly to everyone, she is at least easy to get along with, she can just be a little hard to motivate. Color Code: D6FAD7 Name: Barred Rolith Age: Hatchling Appearance: Rolith is one of the more silver Barreds, although her hide does bear a slight tinge of green, noticed more when she’s wet. Her purple stripes are of a darker-than-average shade and a little wider than normal. With average proportions and of the average size for Barreds – 25 meters – there isn’t much else unique about Rolith’s appearance. Personality: Rolith is a witty dragon, and loves to make jokes and tease. She is friendly, but leans towards the annoying side. She also has a tendency to focus on herself, not in a vain or self-conscious manner… but she seems to enjoy registering her inclusion in anything and will always be sure to point it out. Color Code: DEE3DE Name:Bronze Volacoth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Volacoth’s hide is a slightly more orangey-bronze, and speckled with black and dark grays and browns. The dark freckling appears especially densely on his feet, fading some as it travels up the legs, although it still appears, however vaguely, on every part of his body. A middle-sized Bronze with an average build, Volacoth is about 43 meters. Personality: Volacoth is a dragon quick to change how he feels about anything at any given moment, and always very noisy about that (and just about everything else in his life). He can be a tad irritable, although his focus is mostly on females and catching every single one to exist. He’s not a dragon to ever take a real mate, and even if he just caught one female, be it senior queen or Green, if another one rises the next day, he’ll be after it. Color Code: B6811B ((NPC/Adoptable)) Name: Green Skrith Age: Hatchling Appearance: Skrith’s hide is a deep green that matches the shade the ocean takes up on clearer days. She has swirls of darker greens throughout her hide, adding to her water-colored appearance. Although at 23 meters Skrith is on the larger side of Greens, she has a light, slender build that makes her look a little smaller than she is. Personality: Skrith’s personality is as ever-changing as the ocean her appearance matches, sometimes it even seems to reflect that mood. On stormy days, her mood is often just as dark, and on clearer ones, she is more cheerful. Skrith can change on a dime though, she’s not the sort of dragon to get relaxed around. But even with her amorphous personality, she is mostly a friendly dragon, and the usual Green flirt. Color Code: 247E4C

Quite a few more eggs had hatched. Senra counted them off. 8 dragons had Impressed, and 11 had hatched. Half the clutch was out of their eggs, and the rest would soon follow. Senra wondered if there would be any duds in this clutch, and if there were, which eggs they would be. It seemed a horrible fate for any dragon, but better to be born and Impress then die. That would hurt the rider as well as the dragon, it was probably better to die before you were born.
A long time ago, Senra had felt that way, but standing on the sands now, she was glad to be here. Even if she didn't Impress this time, there would be other clutches to attend. She almost wanted to go to another clutch, though she wasn't sure why. It just seemed that it would be rather exciting to attend more than one clutch. She didn't like feasts, anyway.
Senra shook her head, concentrating on the eggs and the hatched dragonets that had yet to find theirs. She wondered if one or more if these dragons would go between because they were unable to find their lifemate.

So many dragons. Robin was in a state of awe watching all the babies hatch and rush to find their bondeds. They were all so sweet, if still larger than she would have imagined them to be. They were quite a bit larger than Ilyna... But that didn't frighten Robin, that was perhaps one of the best points about the girl, was that very little frightened her. Not the creeling, or the snapping, though she thought that some of those dragons needed a good scolding to set them straight. It wasn't nice to frighten or hurt people, and they should learn that.
Robin wasn't very good at counting, but from what she'd known - there'd been 22 eggs - and counting the shivering ones now, and then counting on her fingers for a moment. She could tell that half the eggs were hatched and half were already rushing to Impression with people. Everyone knew that it was only luck as to whether you Impressed on the first standing, and Robin figured it was also that your mind mate hadn't been born yet... Or he or she had been... It was all a matter of who was meant to be Yours.
Seeing the smiles of those Impressed though, Robin was acutely reminded that even if she didn't Impress, she had Ilyna. Though the green was nasty at the best of times, Robin knew that she would always be company, and while she didn't have the unconditional love of her parents any more, the ache wasn't as bad as it had once been. So in the end, Impression wasn't all there was to live for, and certainly, she had many, many turns to try again.
Some of the dragons didn't seem inclined to choose too soon though, and that confused Robin. She'd always imagined it was the first thing they did was seek out their bonded and then food... But that green was certainly the cutest thing; so curious.

Alazne had been watching the first eggs to hatch with excitement, surely this was going to be a good day. Her gaze had been caught by the first barred to hatch and she watched it with a slight frown wondering why it didn't impress. Already a bronze, brown, blue and tan had impressed and a couple of others were on the sands. Then there was another egg with cracks, a green that only part hatched, quickly followed by another barred. This one didn't wait around like her sister however, it bounded across the sands, coming to a halt in front of Alazne. The harper candidate was sure that it was going to run her over until it actually stopped just inches from her feet. Look AlazneMine, Rolith finally got out of that egg! Can we- I go eat? I’m hungry! Alazne's eyes locked onto the rainbow whirling eyes of the barred, which turned to the reds of hunger. In that instant Alazne felt the force of the hatchling's hunger, almost making her double over from the intensity. "Indeed you did Rolith. Of course you can eat, we'll go and get you something right now." She replied as she smiled widely and stroked the still damp head. She'd done it, she'd impressed and a beautiful barred at that. Alazne turned and started for where the meat had been set up, Rolith quickly falling into step beside her.

Next to hatch was the Dusk egg, revealing a dark Bronze. He started across the sand toward the boys, but didn’t seem quite sure who he wanted and instead set to just stalking among them, inspecting each. While he busied himself with that, a Blue poked its snout from the Sprout egg, soon followed by the rest of its body. This Blue trotted over to its brother of the same color and together they headed for the boys. Well, they did until the last second, when the slightly older Blue changed its mind and dashed to the girls, quickly Impressing one. The younger Blue, a bit surprised by this sudden abandoning, set to inspecting the boys, trying to find the person he wanted to Impress. A Tan struggled from the confines of the Torrent egg, and as he started towards the boys a few eggshell fragments still clung to his moist hide. The Bronze, having seen three of his siblings Impress just in the few minutes he had been alive, decided it was time he did so too and finally settled on his own boy. The Festival egg’s bright shell finally exploded in a manner that reflected the firework-type pattern on the outside, although it revealed a hatchling of a much duller color. The newest Brown on Nyocia looked around nervously, and started on a meandering course towards the boys. The Green that had been running around the sands without any apparent goal in mind up to this point finally seemed to come to a decision and ran to the Brown that had hatched so much earlier but not done much at all. Apparently all he needed was a little help getting started, for after she had given him a few friendly nudges, they both trotted cheerfully towards the girls. The Green settled on one and the Brown, after much deliberation, stopped in front of another. Sorry for taking so long, Senra. Eith was just a little… disoriented. And now I’m very hungry. He creeled softly to her in emphasis. ~~~ Name:Blue Calimath Age: Hatchling Appearance: Calimath’s hide is a slightly lighter blue, and that blue covers his entire body, the only variations being caused by the sun’s natural shadows and highlights. He is a very lean Blue, with a long, agile build. He lacks endurance more than most Blues, but makes up for it with his speed- Calimath is able to fly as fast as even some of the larger Browns if he really tries. A small Blue, Calimath is only 23 meters. Personality: Calimath’s three joys in life are eating, talking, and flirting. He will always be doing one of those, mostly talking. Often when he’s talking, it will be about females or food, so he is always incorporating all of his likes. Even in his sleep he often makes little noises, he’s a dragon that’s never quite silent. Calimath has few qualms when it comes to females, although he has the sense to not chase ones outside his abilities and sticks to the smaller Barreds and any Green. Calimath is willing to get along with anyone though, it’s just up to them to stand his chatty attitude. Color Code: 323AA4 ((NPC/Adoptable)) Name: Tan Kaith Age: Hatchling Appearance: Kaith’s hide is of average coloring, just a dusty tan shade. His stripes are mostly brown, but lined with a striking black that does a good job of making them stand out nonetheless. Kaith also has a bit of black lining his lower jaw, unusual for a Tan. Middle sized, Kaith stands at exactly 38 meters. Personality: Kaith tends to rush things and often misses details in the process, but also likes to always have someone with him… so hopefully they can always help him by pointing those out. He is a friendly dragon, but a little absent-minded and his only true focus comes when he is fighting Thread. Kaith has always liked fire-lizards and other little animals too, and there will usually be one or two around him at all times, no matter who owns them, or whether anyone owns them at all. Color Code: C4AE61 ((NPC/Adoptable)) Name: Bronze Kirth Age: Hatchling Appearance: One of those darker, slightly more coppery Bronzes, Kirth is the sort of dragon to stand out in a crowd. His hide bears the color and sheen of a new penny, and although on the small side when it comes to Bronzes, Kirth knows just how to get attention and keep it on him simply through body. Kirth is just under 40 meters in length, and although slightly heavy-set, there’s no hiding that he’s smaller than most Bronzes. Personality: Kirth likes to have the attention on him, and even if no one else is talking about him, he will be. A very vocal dragon, Kirth is especially vocal about himself and everything he does, whether it be stupid or great. He’s not one to glorify stories, all that matters to him is that he’s in them. He’ll drag his rider to every thing so he can poke his nose in and be a part of it, and hates being left alone, although anything ever known to have potential to listen is usually good enough company for him. Color Code: A4761C ((NPC/Adoptable)) Name: Green Rhapsodith Age: Hatchling Appearance: Rhapsodith is the pure epitome of a green. All over, her body is just plain green, from the tip of her nose to the tips of her tail. Her body is well formed, her proportions average, her agility great but stamina low, and everything else one would expect to see in a Green. At 22 meters, she is even of average size for her color. Personality: Rather like she is in appearance, Rhapsodith is completely a Green in mind. She has a lot of energy, loves to flirt and tease, is curious and random, and whatever else she feels like being at a given moment. Rhapsodith loves bathing though, and at least doesn’t splash her rider because she wants as much attention when it comes to baths as she can possibly get. Color Code: green or ((Adopted)) Name: Brown Eith Age: Hatchling Appearance: Eith’s hide is a very rich, smooth brown, giving him a dark, handsome appearance. He has a powerful build, but is a smaller Brown at 31 meters in length. Not far off the edges of each wingsail, the dark brown that covers most of Eith’s body starts to fade lighter, edging his wings in a lighter, more creamy brown. Other than that, his only markings are a few faint scars on his wingsails earned from an accident on the Hatching grounds. Personality: Eith is a straightforward Brown, never one to edge around opinions or to hide what he has to say for any reason. He’s friendly, but stern, and not the sort to hold his tongue, so he doesn’t always come off as the kindest dragon. To those he cares about, Eith is ever helpful and good at listening to though. Despite, he can be a little shy too, especially in new things. Color Code: 492A0E

Senra watched as the eggs continued to hatch. She rather liked the Bronze that hatched, though she wasn't sure why, and watched it go off, until she was distracted by the Blue dragon coming out of another egg. It headed towards the boys with the other Blue, but then the older one headed towards the girls to Impress. Senra watched the Blue and the Bronze, hoping they would Impress, and soon. She watched two new dragons, and Tan and a Green, hatch and Impress.
This whole hatching business suddenly seemed very exciting. It was so different from what she had expected, and she wasn't even sure what she had expected. The Bronze Impressed soon after the others, and soon after that another egg hatched, and a Brown came out It headed towards the boys, which Senra didn't like because had wanted it to come over so she could get a better look at it. Maybe later, after it Impressed, she would have the chance. The Green on the sands, meanwhile, had gone after the Brown sitting around by Nayarath. After a few nudges, the Green got the Brown to get up and they both headed towards the girls.
Senra watched them come closer, her heart pounding the whole time, but with excitement. This was so amazing to her. Hatchings were so interesting, and not that frightening after a bit. The dragonets proved to be clumsy, and rather cut as well. Their actions seemed a little strange sometimes as well. The Green Impressed to a girl, but the Brown didn't seem able to decide. Finally, he moved towards her. Senra expected to feel scared he would run her over, but in truth, the Brown didn't act that way at all. It didn't seem in his nature to hurt someone.
She hadn't at all suspected what happened next. Sorry for taking so long, Senra. Eith was just a little… disoriented. And now I’m very hungry. At first, she didn't do anything as it came to her, then Senra dropped down and rubbed Eith a bit. Alright then, let's go get you something to eat. It was coming to her that this was someone she could actually talk to, for the first time in her life, there was someone in the world she could communicate to with words, and it felt great.
Eith seemed very happy that he would be getting to eat. Eith is happy to help you SenraMine. Let us go find some food for your Eith so I am not so hungry. She could only agree to this of course, so together, they set off to the food, where there were many other Impressed pairs there already. Senra felt like life couldn't get much better. She had never imagined dragons could be this joyful. She hadn't understood dragons at all before, but now she most certainly did, and she woudl be learnign more too.

The next couple eggs hatched in a flurry, the Root egg rolling over the shards that most of its neighbors had become and crashing into the Earth egg and causing both to fall apart. A Barred scrambled from the shards of the Earth egg and was gone by the time a Blue had gotten itself free of the Root egg. Undeterred by his sister’s quick escape, he trotted towards the boys. The Barred, on the other hand, headed for the girls, not taking long to stop before Robin. Did you see that Robin? The other egg came crashing right into Sirristh’s when she was just about ready to get out herself. She didn’t sound too happy about that turn of events. The Blue, and the Green and Brown who had hatched a little earlier, both found their lifemates among the male Candidates while the Desert egg hatched, revealing another Bronze. The Bronze started, like many of the other hatchlings, towards the boys and soon found himself a person to Impress among them too. Next the deep grays of the Fog egg shattered to reveal a slightly more gray-blue Blue, and, after a moment of looking very disoriented in this new environment, he started a haphazard journey towards the boys. He stumbled into one on the edge, and Impression was made. With only two eggs left, it was the Lunar egg that showed a hatchling next. The dragon that crawled from it was large and bore the usual black stripes of a Tan, but his hide was more gray, even with a few tinges of blue- about the opposite of the hatchling just before him. He looked around the Sands nervously, and then ran straight to Kuroi. K’roi, what is this place? Palanth finds it so big and frightening! He pushed his head against the boy’s chest, as if to hide himself from it all. The Dust egg hadn’t moved the entire hatching, and wasn’t moving now. Nayarath reached out to nudge it uncertainly, then snorted softly and raised her head again. The queen didn’t look unhappy, just relieved that she was finally done with the clutch. One dud wasn’t bad anyways. ~~~ Name: Barred Sirristh Age: Hatchling Appearance: The dusky silver-green color of Sirristh’s hide manages to make her skin always look like it’s a little drier than it should be, yet it seems to retain oil better than most dragon’s. She is a little long in all areas of the body, especially her muzzle, tail, and wings, but on the small side of Barreds at just under 23 meters. Personality: Sirristh likes to do things herself and can get really irritated when others try to help out, something she views more as them getting in the way. She generally likes people, but can be a little snappish and is a ‘do it all’ sort of character. Leading others seems to come natural to her, but when she does, she’s smart about it but also prefers being in complete control. Being the quick and opinionated dragon she is, Sirristh does, at least, make a good Searchdragon. Color Code: EAF4EB Name: Green Spasereth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Spasereth’s hide is a bright, cheerful green, and all across her body she has random specks of an even lighter shade. Although on the small side, reaching only 21 meters from nose to tail-tip, she is always moving and seems to have the energy of a much larger dragon, although she lacks the stamina to go with it. No matter how much she eats (which can be a lot, comparatively), Spasereth always seems to look like she’s thinner than she ought to be. Personality: Spasereth’s personality is as bright as her hide – this dragon is constantly cheerful and there is nothing on Pern (except maybe a bad Threadscore) that can get her down. She loves everything and anyone, and seems unable to catch on when someone doesn’t want cheer in their life or simply doesn’t want her around. If someone is rude, she’ll think they’re joking and be just as happy as ever. It can be annoying… but that’s Spasereth. Color Code: 1DC555 Name: Blue Foloth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Foloth is a slightly darker blue, with an even darker shade running down his stomach, over his wing membranes, and about halfway up each leg. He tends to keep his head low and tail out when moving, and rarely looks particularly excited by anything. Foloth stands at about 27 meters. Personality: Foloth is a dour dragon, with an attitude not as bad as a Charcoal’s but far from being good. He seems to house a deep and abiding love for worst case scenarios and will never be cheerful about anything, except eating and maybe winning a Flight. Little excites him. To those close to him, he always seems a bit like he’s holding something back, maybe a hidden cheerful side… but if he is, he sure doesn’t let it show. Color Code: 282D81 Name: Blue Skuth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Skuth is a bright, cheerful sky blue in color, and his general posture is usually very alert and makes him look just as cheerful as his shade. He is a small dragon though, in build and length, being only 24 meters. Personality: Kappeth is a sweetheart, always friendly to everyone and never the sort to get in the way or try to irritate people. He has a sort of innocence to him, like little kids, but is smarter than them. Ever curious, Kappeth always has a lot of questions to ask on everything too, but he manages to keep from asking them to an annoying degree. Color Code: 246FDF Name: Brown Grenneth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Grenneth is a very brown Brown, very plain in coloring and his general appearance. His headknobs are tipped with an almost black shade, but other than that, nothing on his hide varies at all. At 35 meters in length, Grenneth is middle sized. Personality: A calm dragon, it takes a lot to get Grenneth even the slightest bit excited. He might seem overly laid back at times, but mostly just prefers taking things slowly and thinking them very thoroughly through before doing acting. When people around him seem to be feeling a need to rush, he can get a bit irritable, but overall his general tranquil attitude is the only one he shows. Color Code: 60420C Name: Bronze Sarasth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Although a light Bronze, Sarasth seems to be especially metallic and has a lot of green tinge to him, especially along his shoulders and wing membranes. Sarasth has a light build for a Bronze, although his agility seems to be the same as others of his color. Middle-sized, Sarasth stands at just over 43 meters. Personality: Sarasth likes to be a part of things, but often is so without anyone else realizing it. He’s not the slightest bit intrusive and happy to hang around the edges of any given predicament. Sarasth is, overall, cheerful, but quiet. He can be a bit of a tease too, and enjoys bending rules or assisting in pranks and jokes, although he’ll never go overboard and is very good at avoiding getting caught. Color Code: C49230 Name: Blue Kappeth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Kappeth’s hide is a dry, dusky gray-blue, but a ‘cloak’ of purer blue spreads over his back, shoulders, and wings. He has a powerful build for a Blue, and maybe a bit more stamina than average. Kappeth’s legs are a little long and a bit awkward to place when he flies, but he moves along the ground easier than most dragons because of it. In length, Kappeth is about 27 meters. Personality: Kappeth is quick about doing everything, from making decisions to changing directions while moving around, but sometimes seems to outdo himself and can end up confused if he does too much at one time. He is a cheerful dragon too, and loves to be with others, especially females he could potentially turn into mates. Kappeth has a soft spot especially for the most spastic Greens, maybe because he knows he won’t have to make any sort of long commitment to them. Color Code: 4E73A9 Name: Tan(Grullo) Palanth Age: Hatchling Appearance: Palanth is a very curious Tan, seeing as his hide is not any sort of tan shade, but actually more blue-gray, and darkest on his head and legs, while a little lighter along his body. He bears the usual markings of a Tan, with a pure black dorsal stripe and some low socks and slender zebra stripes going up his legs, but his coloring definitely makes him stand out. He could probably be better referred to as a grullo, seeing as Tan doesn’t quite fit that blue-gray hide. At 41 meters, Palanth is on the large side of Tans. Personality: Palanth can be a little edgy, and hates getting excessive attention. He is very sure of himself and a firm believer in the fact that he’s really no different than anyone else, but holds back in these respects, never acting vain or trying to show off. Palanth prefers avoiding crowds, and even a lot of fire-lizards can make him nervous. Overall, he prefers the support and company of his rider, but no one else. Color Code: 6F7798

Andilay, Skrith is so tangled up and tired and hungry! Help me!
Andilay looked at the little green with a look of loving amusement. Of course I will help you, don't fret. We shall get some food in you, here, soon. Andilay lightly trotted over to the green and gave her a good once over, then helped the hatchling to her feet. Helping to arrange the greens wings, so that she wouldn't step on them, Andilay couldn't help but smile.
I'm happy you chose me, Skrith. I find it funny- there was this blue rider that was absolutely convinced I'd impress a barred. I hate to admit it, but I always love to prove someone wrong! Andilay laughed, low in her throat, so it came out a little rumbly.
The green held her wings the way Andilay had carefully arranged them, then looked up to her mine with whirling eyes. You are happy? That is good. When mine is happy, I am happy too. But Skrith would be much happier if her tummy was full. Food now? Please?
Andilay simply grinned and shook her head in amusement, then led her green to the feeding tables.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As egg after egg had cracked and spilled it's fortune on the sands in the form of precious hatchlings, Kuroi despaired. Was he destined to stand through this hatching and be left wanting? Would he be separated from his brother by a bond that he could not understand as of yet, nor share? He had a sudden urge to pluck at the strings of a guitar and let out some of his feelings... but unfortunately, he was instrument-less at the moment, and this was not the place to break out in song. No, most definitely not. Far to many observers.
As the last few eggs hatched, Kuroi found it hard to not drown in dispair... and even allowed a frown to show on his face. When the Lunar egg hatched, he payed it little mind except to notice the odd coloration of the hatchling.
K’roi, what is this place? Palanth finds it so big and frightening!
"Oof." Surprise. That was what he felt... and a small sense of... elation? Perhaps. A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, but to anyone else who saw, it probably just looked like his mouth twitched.
With confident hands he reached up and stroked the neck of the dragon who's wedge shaped head was pressed against his chest. Uhh, this is the world, Palanth. It is large and sometimes menacing... but it holds many joys as well. Buck up, and take a look at the world you are a part of.
The grullo dragon brushed his head up against K'roi's chest again, as if gaining courage from the contact, then broke away a little to look around. There is much noise here... many people. I do not like it, mine. Can we go? I feel hunger and this place does not make me happy.
K'roi nodded at his dragon, and patted his bulky shoulder. Sure, sure. I don't much like the crowds either. Unfortunately, I think you and I may end up a bit more popular than we'd like, because of your odd coloration.
Joy.
The sarcasm wasn't lost on K'roi as he finally let out a smile and led his tan off the sands to be fed.
Watching all the events unfold before her, Robin wouldn't have been surprised if someone had said she'd missed something. That she hadn't been able to keep track of all the dragons as they made their way to bondeds or around the sands. It seemed so chaotic to Robin, but then she'd noticed that alot of hatchings didn't seem to have a lot of hatch and immediately Impress. However, things did eventually move along and that was a plus, always a plus.
Did you see that Robin? The other egg came crashing right into Sirristh’s when she was just about ready to get out herself.
Well that was just rude, wasn't it? People should let you do things on your own, Robin never needed help but people insisted that she did because she was small. Sirristh didn't need any help from anyone. Wait... Blinking in rapid confusion, Robin almost took a step back from the little barred now staring at her. Sirristh seemed to fill an aching hole in her heart, the ache of having no one close, of being almost alone. She was perfect. Ilyna was beautiful, but she wasn't Sirristh, and Robin adored her flitter... But it was nothing to the unconditional adoration she felt from Sirristh. Sirristh loved her for no other reason than she was Robin, and she was Hers.
"Sirristh..." She'd meant to shout it, but instead she merely threw her arms around her dragon's neck and buried her face against the soft hide. RobinMine... I am hungry. Could we perhaps eat soon? "Oh! Of course, and you can meet Ilyna!" Who? "My flitter. She's mine too, so that makes her Yours! Oh Sparrow's going to be so jealous!"
{Indeed, Missa is stoopid xD}
