You know K'laonMine, Amirinthlove thinks she would like to see how all these new dragons chase.
I'm not as interested. K'laon yawned and rolled over, he was trying to get to sleep, not be bothered by his Green about Flights.
Not that Amirinth ever listens to her K'laonMine. Amirinth rumbled and spread her wings. They all just graduated! They need practice! Hopefully all the new graduates wouldn't be asleep now. And she wouldn't mind some experienced males too, anyone was welcome to chase Amirinth! She just wanted to see how the two-Turn-olds did, now that they were free of weyrlings rules. Who knows K'laonMine, maybe you'll find someone you like.
The chances of you finding a dragon you want as a weyrmate are larger. K'laon liked plenty of people, but his plans when it came to relationships were similar to his dragon's: he planned to not get into them.
Amirinth rumbled and dropped off her ledge, letting her wings catch her as she fell rather than wasting energy taking off. She bugled cheerfully, plenty loud enough to alert sleepy dragons to her presence. The Green had building dragonlust to alert them too, of course, but it was nowhere near the strength of a queen's, and this was Amirinth. It took a while for her to get over the idea of this all being a game and switching to the idea of finding a mate. For now, she just made noise to attract suitors.
K'laon, a sour expression on his wide face, got out of bed again and trudged to the head of Amirinth's weyr. It took just as long for his dragon's lust to affect him too; for now he was just irritated at not being able to do what he currently wanted.

Tinth was a volatile dragon. At this particular moment he was in a cheerful mood.
Too cheerful. "Tinth, I'm trying to get in the mood to sleep."
Well, I'm not! I'm in the mood to try something new!
"Like what," R'mer grumbled.
Catch Amirinth!
"Catch...what, she's flying *now*? Doesn't she know civilized dragons are in bed?" Oh...boy. Well, at least Tinth had picked a green with a male rider...albeit one a little old...for his first experiment.
Tinth merely turned to the ledge and took off. That left R'mer to pull on a set of trousers...he didn't bother with a shirt, and start chasing through the corridors towards K'laon's weyr...the wrong way. He realized his error fairly quickly and changed direction. Joy. He wasn't sure he wanted to end up bedding K'laon, but he wasn't sure he didn't either.
Dragons seldom caught in their first chase. Maybe he'd end up bedding one of the other blueriders...
The air felt different under Tinth's wings, somehow. Brighter. Now, where had that green gone? Ah yes, there. There she was, small and dark even with the glow of flight lust on her. And it didn't matter that she had taught some of his lessons. Age gaps mean no more to dragons than incest...and nothing meant anything other than he had to catch that green.
He wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to do with her when he had her, but he suspected he'd work it out.

Easath was sleeping on his ledge, tail twitching slightly in sleep. R'lyr was doing the same, except in his bed and minus the tail. The bugle woke both of them. The rider scowled. Silly green... He turned over and tried to settle down again.
The blue had other plans. Do not go back to sleep, mine! I will chase Amirinth! Easath declared, adding his own bugle to the green's. No one would sleep well in the Weyr tonight.
R'lyr bolted out of bed, fumbling for his cane. What!? No! I...I forbid you to chase. Yeah, that was going to work. Easath merely snorted and then lifted off, flying into the night. Amirinth was a charming green and she held the promise of a fun and challenging Flight. Easath was sick of staying grounded, and he believed that a Flight would help his rider get out of his gloomy mood too.
"No..." R'lyr repeated again, uselessly. He felt Kestrel's weight on his shoulder, and an answering image of K'laon's weyr. R'lyr clenched his fist around his cane, gritting his teeth. It was the first time Easath had chased a green since Crith, and R'lyr still didn't want anyone else, even if that relationship had crashed and burned.
Easath ignored all of these thoughts as he flew to Amirinth's side, crooning affectionately to the dainty green. R'lyr sighed and begrudgingly resigned himself to Easath's will, going to find K'laon with the help of the bronze on his shoulder.

Amirinth trilled with excitement when Tinth proved to be the first dragon to show up. K'laon was not nearly as interested. He's a sharding kid! Maybe not quite, but the Greenrider he figured he had to be at least twice the poor boy's age.
You're both short, Amirinth pointed out, not caring the slightest bit. And there was Easath! She crooned in reply to the new arrival's greeting, though without any devotion. Could they start now? Two had to be enough, right? More would show up; Amirinth hated waiting around. She had attracted Bronzes and Browns to her last Flight!
Of course, the larger males were not know for their devotion. It wouldn't surprise Amirinth at all if they slept through her whole Flight. Blues would be enough though, they were lovely little dragons. Pretty Blues, shall we begin? Amirinth flew in an absent circle and then shot across the lake. She wouldn't go too far away quite yet, just in case more dragons came, but didn't feel like hanging around either. This was a Flight! Amirinth was a in charge, a lack of males wouldn't slow her down like it did queens.
Tinth, why is your calling so very short? Amirinth snapped at her reflection in the lake as she spoke, absent-minded as ever. The game had begun, but it hadn't gotten competitive yet. No turns had been taken, except by Amirinth. She did look quite lovely with the stars at her back and the water before her, and, of course, her reflection right there. Could her suitors manage such an appearance? She glanced back at them, but blue wasn't the best color for standing out in the night. She would have to make them do something about that at some point.

Why was his name short? Tinth contemplated that matter even as he followed the green. I don't know. That would be like asking why you chose your rider!
She was lovely, and he could beat Easath for her, and it seemed as if all the other dragons were asleep. Stupid! Sleeping through the flight of such an elegant green lady. He followed her, seeing her reflection in the water and then, dimmer, his.
His rider's uncertainty and awkwardness was not at all enough to hold him back. R'mer would just have to deal! It was the dragon who decided, and it wasn't as if he had to keep her afterwards, just claim her, now, for the night. But her question still had him rather...bemused.
Low over the lake, and what would she do next? He watched her, he knew he had to catch her, even if he still wasn't quite sure why.

Lead on, my beauty, Easath answered, zipping after Amirinth as she flew towards the lake. He was confident about his ability to beat the young blue, but he wondered where all the other males were. He could sense the Green's impatience, and guessed that she didn't want to wait for any more.
He snorted at Tinth's simple answer, wondering if Amirinth had intended her question to be some kind of riddle. Dipping down, he skimmed his claws over the water. He was tense and wondered when the "real" Flight would begin.

Amirinth snorted, not particularly impressed by the answer. Well, Amirinth's name is quite lovely, don't you think? She thought so. The Green rumbled as Easath spoke, quite liking the older Blue already. It was hard to not like someone who called her beautiful, snorted at other dragons (he agreed with her, obviously!), and ran his claws through the water... that was just sort of cool.
But she couldn't hang around down here. Apparently no one else was showing up, so Amirinth gave her wings a deep flap and twisted upwards, climbing in a near vertical line. She would fly nowhere near the heights queens did, but had no qualms about flying high for a dragon her size. More than that though, she had to fly fast and keep ahead of the these males. It wouldn't be any fun at all for them to catch her before she had even gotten started.
Pretty Blues, your hides are so dim against the darkness! Bring Amirinth the sun back so she can admire her followers. Yes, she had to deal with that now. If she waited too long they might not have the energy to think of some wonderful sort of trick, or to think at all. That seemed to happen to males sometimes, they were quite skilled at losing track of what they were doing, in Amirinth's opinion.
Reaching the top of where she wanted to climb, Amirinth took a sharp angle to straighten out again and glanced quickly down at the males, wondering what they would do with her request. They had time to play, hopefully they would realize that and come up with something lovely.

At Amirinth's beck and call, Easath followed her upwards, glad that the Flight seemed to be picking up now. It looked no other males would join in. Well, that just meant less competition for him. He had no doubt that Amirinth would still give them a challenge.
He paused to consider her rather strange request. How could he bring her the sun? It was all the way up there, and it wasn't even shining right now! He hovered, looking up at the green, and then an idea struck him.
Easath dove back down to the Weyr, skimming over the Heights. The drum tower was lined with glows to light the way of the people who had to climb up there. The blue scooped one up in each of his forepaws, then hurried back to Amirinth. The trip had sapped some of his energy, but it would hopefully impress Amirinth. Is that better? he asked.

Everything about Amirinth is lovely Tinth sent back to the green, more cheerful than flirtatious.
She wanted the sun? The sun was not here, and Tinth had no clue where one would get it. Easath was grabbing glows.
Glows were not the sun! Glows were silly, dim things riders used. As he followed her, he wracked his brain. He couldn't bring her the sun... And Amirinth does not need the sun. She is herself as bright!
Wait! Now he had an idea. He couldn't bring her the sun, but he could bring her something that kinda looked like the sun. As early in the season as it was...
He swooped low again, along the lake shore, scooping up the yellow flowers that grew in the grass there. There weren't many of them, this early. Amirinth has the sun's glow within her he sent as he climbed upwards towards her again. She needs no other light, but perhaps these would be appreciated
Flatterer.

Amirinth had asked for light, and she rumbled slightly at Easath's simple reply. Oh yes, pretty Blue. But Tinth was redeeming himself! No true female could toss off praise, much as they acted like they did. Much as she appreciated the Blue's words, they weren't what she was looking for.
But you are not as much, pretty Blue. Your hide blends with the nighttime. I ask for light. Ah, and now he was flying away, getting something. Good. It couldn't be easy at all to fall so low over the bowl though, when they were flying high now. Poor Tinth had a lot of climbing to do all over again. She slowed her Flight a little as she watched the younger Blue gather flowers, paying scant attention to the Blue still behind her, carrying glows. He couldn't catch her when his paws were full.
Perhaps they would be, Amirinth almost chuckled as Tinth returned with the little bundle of yellow flowers. They were sun-ish, but it seemed a human trick. They gave each other flowers, Amirinth had never seen dragons do so. Her ponderings of this were distracted when she realized that now she had to do something with the bundles her suitors had brought her.
Pretty Blues, now that you have items... Amirinthlove would like to see how lovely you can make them fall. It would get rid of them, and she could have something else to watch. This wasn't wasting any energy at all, making the males do favors! Amirinth quite enjoyed it.
The Green snorted slightly at a sudden comment from her rider about how they weren't even doing any real flying. Do it quickly too, pretty Blues! Yes, K'laon did have some influence on his dragon. Amirinth took off, her small size making her cover less distance but not doing anything to slow her comparitive speed. She could stay long enough to see if the males actually did anything with their toys by zig-zagging and turning, like most Greens did... for now she would have to do that, Amirinth felt like she had knotted herself in a bit. Hopefully the Blues wouldn't notice.

Tinth spread his talons as he climbed, letting the flowers fall to the lake one at a time, the air catching them, blowing them across the Weyr. It was the best he could do.
Perhaps he was just not well suited to impress females in this manner, but he was not giving up. He did a barrel roll, so that the last couple of flowers fell onto his own light blue stomach, then flicked them off. He was a good blue, a strong blue, nothing 'mere' about him.
And then he was after her, a quick burst of speed to catch up. He didn't have to worry about some clodhopping brown or bronze taking his prize, not in this flight, so stamina? Not as important as showing her what a strong blue, what a fast blue, what a handsome blue!
And if he didn't get this one, it was practice for the next, but that thought flickered through the R'mer part of his mind, the human partner ambivalent about this flight.
K'laon was his freaking weyrlingmaster.

Easath blinked. Now that they had the objects, Amirinth wanted to drop them? Well, whatever she said, he would do. He tossed the first glow backwards and thwacked with his tail like a baseball, sending it sailing away. In the process, he dropped the second one. It plummeted down and sank into the lake, creating a bright spot in the water for a second.
With the glows gone, he flew after Amirinth, trying to copy her zigzagging pattern. He wondered if another trick was up her sleeve, or if they were going to start really flying now. This was really a strange Flight. In the back of his mind, he felt a sense of "well, it's your fault for getting yourself into it," from his rider, but Easath ignored it. He was enjoying himself! And Amirinth was too pretty to give up!

Amirinth twirled and ducked under the males, darting back to watch the glow Easath dropped into the water before it sunk and to huff playfully at the last of Tinth's drifting flowers. Such insubstantial little things these were, like a flame or the ashes of Thread. It was time to get moving, she was feeling more driven now. With the drive to actually find a healthy mate finally taking full control, Amirinth felt another burst of energy, but, like it always worked with Greens, it wasn't likely to last her particularly long.
Amirinth flew above the sloping walls of the volcano, eager to leave the Weyr behind now. She wouldn't go too far away, but felt little desire to hang around. Obviously no one else was coming, so they would just have to suffer through missing the show entirely. Come, pretty Blues! Amirinth knows a lovely place. She knew quite a few actually, and paid little mind to where her wings brought her. They had played with intelligence and a bit of agility, but now it was up to speed. Amirinth had a headstart, and she was quick.
No male would catch her, Amirinth decided as she flew eagerly above the slopes of the extinct volcano. The coast wasn't far ahead, she had nothing in her way, the wind was blowing just as it ought, and she could escape anyone no matter how hard they tried. She rumbled at the whole idea of the Flight now, wondering why these Blues had decided to try and chase her at all. They couldn't possibly win.
All her thoughts of triumph and escape were cut short again when all the time she had wasted caught up to her, just like evyerthing else seemed to be, her strength was going fast. Amirinth bellowed angrily and glanced back at the males. Were they catching up? Not possibly. She wouldn't let them catch her. This would be different from past Flights, she would win...
Not likely.

Her games were over. Tinth sensed that. Being young, he had little stamina. He had to catch her quickly, or so he thought. If it could be described as a thought.
Really, he wasn't *thinking* at all, the conscious mind fading into the lust, pulling R'mer's mind with it, until all there was was the need to chase, the need to catch.
She was fading, tiring, but so was he, he had to just have that bit more energy, just enough to catch up with her. Then enough to support her. Instinct told the young blue to set just that little aside, even at the risk of not being the one to claim her.
She was Amirinth, she would claim the best, and he, Tinth, would *be* the best. Nothing else could be the outcome.

((Sorry. Life caught up with me again.))
Easath followed Amirinth's twisting as best he could, but he was relieved when she finally began a sprint. He picked up his own pace, ignoring a faint soreness in his wings. He was curious about this special place of Amirinth's, and he wondered if it would lead to a catch.
He could see her pace falter and urged himself to fly faster in response. He was a bit startled at her bellow. Easath had never seen a green so averse to actually being caught, but their little games had to count for something.

Amirinth had tired herself out, no doubt about it. She figured that she did rather like both males, it wouldn't be too horrible to let one catch her, even if it was sad that she couldn't have won. Until the Green figured out how that would work, she figured it wasn't possible anyways.
And as for the decision... Amirinth didn't have too much trouble with that. Tinth was sweet but needed practice, and the Green had plenty of future Turns to test the younger Blue. For now, she swung around to Easath; they were almost to her 'lovely place', and she was tired, so it was just fine to let everything end now.
And K'laon? It was simply a huge relief to know he wouldn't have to worry about waking up to a kid.

Tinth furled his wings and dropped, gliding to the bowl floor as soon as the green chose.
He was exhausted, he let the wind carry him back to the shore of the lake, settling like a leaf, wings drooping.
She had been so sweet, so lovely, but lust faded away to tiredness now.
R'mer fled K'laon's Weyr, running towards his dragon's side. For this once, he wasn't going to moth with anyone, if he could avoid it. Bits of reason returned, and an awareness that he had a very tired blue. Who needed a hug. Or something.
Yes, a hug would be good. So would some wine...

Easath crooned as Amirinth swung towards him, his eyes flooding pure violet as he reached out and twined his neck around hers. He flared his wings, carrying them both as they flew together. On the ground, R'lyr forgot his former objections as he reached out for K'loan, his actions guided by his dragon's lust.
