((could'nt resist the title )) The weather was warming up nicely as the first hints of the approaching summer were starting to leak thorugh the spring flowers. It was certianly an active time of year to graduate from Weyrlinghood. Earisa swore Maideneth chattered for 3 days straight about all the newly found space in their new weyr but finally there was peace!... Which was maybe a little too odd... Earisa-mine, I like flying the dragon's voice was normally paced. Her rider took it as a sign for being tired, a common occurence from all the bounciness. I know you do, i do tooThere are males fluttering around, I will fly with them! The dragons voice becoming a little more excited and jumpy. Okay, ha- Wait! The green was already on the ledge, bugling louding and vocalising her dragonlust. Earisa felt it too, Maideneth was about to rise on her maiden flight! Quickly she shook the initial shock of dreeding the unknown experience, she couldn't be scared. Besides, Maideneth was already gone; Over the ledge and aiming for the clouds. It will be good! Like a game!

Truth's attention was caught by the young green, her call, and instantly, the small blue was on his feet, which caused his bonded to jerk awake from where he'd been dozing against his side. "What the sharding blazes are you doing?" Though it sounded annoyed, F'ynch's voice was really more curious than anything else. He was really such a good actor sometimes, but Truth knew, he'd get a scolding and F'ynch wouldn't like the idea the blue had gotten into his head. Maideneth rises for the first time... The blue paused as his bonded processed the information, and as a sting of curses started up, the blue edged away.
"Truth! No! Absolutely not! She has a female rider!" So? She is lovely, it is about time you got over this aversion to females, Mine. "Truth!" The word was more of a growl this time and the lightly coloured blue knew that now was the time to move, so with a snort at his rider, he launched off his own weyrledge, adding his voice to Maideneth's. Of course, such a pretty lady needed many suitors in her first flight, and Truth was eager to pay attention to the green.
F'ynch, would have dearly loved to swear loudly. Yet he knew the game as well as his dragon, Faranth knew Truth had chased enough sharding greens to know it by heart. That didn't mean he wouldn't have dearly loved to drag his feet, it wasn't fair to the girl, he told himself, that was what bothered him. F'ynch wasn't interested in girls. It was a simple fact, he would run across the oceans before he got into a relationship with a female. Sharding blue!

((...still kind of a failpost, but it is another chaser. xP))
Johannesth figured chasing a Green couldn't be that much work. Maideneth was reknowned for her powerful but quick bursts of energy anyways, so the Tan wasn't too worried about expending his energy on this Flight. He was curious anyways, about what it was like to chase... and doubted he could possibly last a queen Flight. Too much work. Greens would have to be the way to go.
Taking advantage of his new weyr, Johannesth simply dropped off the ledge outside it and let his wings spread and catch him. He wasn't about to waste any energy getting to Maideneth anyways, if he planned to win the first time he chased, he would have to save his energy... even for a Green. The Tan never felt like he had much to start with, anyways.
Now that he was out though, Johannesth wasn't sure exactly what to do. He darted after Maideneth, registering that she looked... prettier... than usual, and noting Truth's presence but not sure what to do past that. Was he really only the second one here? He was often the last to everything... this was pretty good.
That fact made him a bit more eager; Johannesth doubted any female liked late-showers but he wasn't today! Maybe he would have a chance with the little Green.
N'ren was just happy to see his dragon doing something, even if it was a Flight. He didn't know her all that well (which was pretty lame to think about, seeing as they had been weyrlings together for the past two Turns), but Earisa was sort of cute. It sure felt like an awkward way to seriously meet someone though.

Eairsa was glad, not to many people at all and one was from her weyrling class. It was comforting to know she wasn't being crowded, nor be dumped with complete strangers. Her eyes turned to the sky, her mind reaching for her glowing green. This wasn't for her anyway, it was for Maideneth...
When the air beneath her wings began losing their lift maideneth wheeled in a big lazy arc to inspect her suitors. A blue and tan; not bad, not bad. Today she felt she had more then enough energy to burn to give at least Truth a solid workout. Johanneth they would have to see.
Her slow actions had given the males time to catch up, she had no where to go and was only widely circling the Weyr. But as soon as they came close she was gone. Not much more then a glowing green blur she zig-zaged before falling away into a dive.

Truth didn't give a wherry's tail what his rider wanted, when it came to flight's it was only a matter of winning the prize. Which funnily, the blue actually rarely did. He didn't care about the bigger dragons - he'd beat him too - and he didn't care if Maideneth wanted a game, he'd give her a game. Luckily, these were the flights that Truth excelled in. Speed. Agility. And tricks, the blue knew them intimately, they were his best friends, and in this case, so was his size.
Truth also didn't feel tired, he'd been dozing just before the flight, which was something to be grateful for, he was now up and ready to fly and nothing could stop him from doing just that. If she wanted to play, he'd play, she was such a pretty, pretty green after all and he had enough energy to beat that silly, lazy tan too. Silly creature, you couldn't laze about and thus gain the attention of a little green that way. Zipping after her with a light hearted croon, the blue threw himself into the chase.
F'ynch could have thought of several choice swear phrases by that point. All of them directed at the blue that he'd now decided he was going to disown. Stupid, sharding, annoying, blasted, wherry-headed, dung-brained blue! First he was chasing golds and he still hadn't figured out that the first thing F'ynch would do if he won was bolt from the weyr the minute he woke up. Or maybe flail a bit in uncomfortableness and then flee. But after those intial thoughts, the blue rider couldn't think about how much he did not want this, his mind was lost with his blue, chasing the glorious green.

First she was going slow... this was good! Johannesth liked slow. He liked it very much. Because he was thinking about this, Maideneth's sudden change to quick zig-zags, it took the Tan a moment to register and get to following her. Big dragons like him weren't meant for this sort of agility, but at least Johannesth had the advantage of at least being small for his color. And more and more he was wanting to catch this Green.
And so, probably much to anyone who knew Johannesth's surprise, he followed her. It wasn't that hard, the Tan soon figured out a system that he had often observed in birds (they were the masters at saving energy). He would fly a stroke, then twist, snap his wings to his side, and shot a forward in whatever direction he was facing. Then he would just have to open his wings again when he started to drift down, and twist in the other direction.
Zig-zagging was no trouble at all! Johannesth could have crowed with delight at this discovery, but wasn't sure if that would upset the lovely little Green he was chasing. He couldn't be doing that now. The final advantage of this new flight pattern was that, with his wings closed, he could turn on a much smaller radius, it simply required a tilt of his body and quick downstroke to give himself some power.
The fun of zig-zagging didn't last long at all though; suddenly Maideneth was diving. Johannesth was good at that too, diving took no effort whatsoever. Gravity did the work for him! A draconic grin on his face, the Tan threw an extra twist into his own dive. He would prove he could win this Flight, even if he didn't have much idea what to do once he did.
N'ren, unlike the other male present, was in a good mood. Finally, something was getting Johannesth doing something, even if he was finding every possible way to make it easier on himself. Johannesth cared about something, finally, and that made it even more important that they won. But even those thoughts didn't last much longer, soon he was losing himself in the new sensations of the Flight.

Snapping out of her dive she shot straight back up again, almost just as fast. The feat burned in her wings but went ignored, Maideneth rather proud or herself. Another burst of energy used she wheeled again in a lazy circle, again watching the males who chased her. They were rather good this far, or at least she thought so.
A flick of her wings signaled another burst, straight into the males before darting away. Taunting the males with near collisions and catches she flew rings around them. Who ever said that the chasee had to fly away from males? No she got to see how the males flew without any trouble, and without destracting herself.

Diving was fun, Truth was enjoying all these spins and turns and all the tricks the green was pulling out to try. As she snapped out of the dive, the small blue was quick to follow her, it was something he'd noticed green's liked to do. Diving only to snap out of it, maybe it was because they knew only they could do it so smoothly. Or them and very small blues that would experience that same sharding burn along the wings, but still able to do as she asked of them, still able to force them to work.
Eek! She was coming towards them now, swerving as sharply away from her collision course as he could, Truth mentally growled at himself for getting over confident... Then she was darting away again and Truth once again scolded himself for getting lost in wonderment at the beautiful green. How could he lose himself in thoughts when there was a tan, a big, ugly tan right there? Shardit all.
Paying attention now, Truth kept his whirling eyes fixed on the young green. She was a clever one, keeping them thinking, and even if he was beginning to tire from the twists and turns, Truth wasn't about to give in, oh no, not yet, he wasn't going to give up on such a lovely, beautiful and smart green. Never. She deserved the best, and giving up would make her choose the lesser of the dragons.

Johannesth loved dives. Nothing about them took any effort at all; even when one ended it, they had all the momentum and only needed to curve upwards. So he didn't mind much when Maideneth cut the dive off again, it wasn't much of a problem to follow her. She needed to do that at some point, so it wasn't particularly surprising either. Johannesth twisted upwards, only spreading his wings when the momentum from the dive started to give out.
That did lose him some speed though, and so when Maideneth suddenly spun around and charged between the males, he was caught by surprise. Thoughts of snatching her didn't even reach his mind, the Tan only barely wheeled out of the way. And she was flying off again. Although a little irritated by that change of pace, Johannesth spun around and shot after her.

Having tested the males enough Maideneth wheeled and took off as fast as she could, at least before the males worked out that she was only playing. she was fast, but diving that close to males was only setting herself up to be caught. The males were doing well though, maybe they would catch her eventually. It was like she had spoken too soon, the green feeling her energy dropping at an alarming speed. No, not now! She never could last long, each wing beat weaker then the next till she was nearly at a glide. If she couldn't win, then maybe she could choose? But looking back at her suitors who were catching up alarmingly fast she just couldn't. They had both been fun! ((first person to post can make the catch ))

((...>.>))
Johannesth may have had the advantage of being a Tan and having the extra endurance that simply came with his size. But he had the disadvantage of being practically the only dragon on Pern who did his best to avoid work, and so the Flight wasn't going quite as well for him as anyone may have suspected.
And Maideneth was speeding up? Johannesth wasn't about to lose after all this work, but he wasn't particularly excited to make a final mad dash. Instinct overpowered mind here though, and he shot after her. He would catch the Green. Nothing he actually ever did do went wasted, anyways.
Johannesth's eyes whirled an excited purple when he finally picked up Maideneth's strength flagging. Finally! He could catch up to her easily now, she was practically gliding. Just to make sure he kept ahead of the Blue, Johannesth added a final wingstroke, a little boost, and caught up to the Green. He reached out with his forepaws, but let his wings envelope her first.... Capture. He twined with the Green, promptly forgetting all the effort of the chase, the Blue, the worries His might have. His first chase, his first win... this had worked out quite nicely.

Maideneth crooned as she was entrapped within strong talons and wings, all good things coming to an end. But it wasn't just over, Johannesth and her deeply engaged in mating as they fell. Not bad for her first flight, she would do better next time though. Make things more interesting! Truth was left behind and forgotten, the tan had won...
Earisa regained a fragment of herself, enough to roughly reconise what was around her. her aim though was to find N'ren, not hard when he was standing so close. The man was quite handsome, she had thought so even in weyrlinghood but relationships had been near off limits. The likes of him would never have looked at her normally... but this wasn't exactly a normal meeting.
"Shall we?" she asked, her hands already clawing gently at his clothes. Could she think straight, this would be highly unusual behaviour for her. When did she ever flirt?
