It was a normal day. Kelth was curled up around her eggs, taking a quick nap. Shador was eating a sandwich in the stands. She rarely left the sands these days. She wanted to be near her dragon, but it was too bad she couldn't spend more time with L'han. She took another bite of the sandwich, sighing a little. Suddenly, her eyes caught movement on the sands. One of the eggs was twitching. Kelth! Immediately, the Violet awoke. Kelth nudged the egg, which rocked more vigorously in response. Two more started moving. Kelth crooned. Yes! They are Hatching! Lifting her head, she bugled to the Weyr. Hurry! My babies are ready! Everyone to the sands! Shador grinned and sat back, ready to watch the show. She was a little nervous about the small pool of candidates, but she was determined that everything would work out. ~~~ Hatched: 14/14 TanBarredTealBarredCharcoalTealSkyBarredTanCharcoalCharcoalTealTanSkyImpressed: 14/14 Tan Rondeauth to NPCTeal Erosth to R'skelBarred Valentinth to LidiBarred Amoreth to NPCTeal Santh to NPCCharcoal Maltath to NPCSky Februeth to LynTan Romeoth to R'can(NPC)Barred Julieth to IlliaineCharcoal Claudiuth to R'kahTeal Lupercaliath to D'racoCharcoal Hearth to N'lelTan Cupith to NPCSky Opheliath to KyrissaEggs:The largest egg in the clutch lies near the far edge, its color a soft pastel blue. There are splotches of white here and there on it, but they resemble ice more than clouds, despite the sky-like background color.
Although a middle-sized egg, this egg is dwarfed by its blue-white neighbor. It makes up for that with coloring though, bright flashes of yellows, reds, and orange fighting to control the majority of the egg.
This egg is similar in size to the brightly-colored one beside it, but it is a very plain yellow. The vibrance of the color varies a little, but the shade never seems to change.
Another large egg comes next, and it is blue-gray in color. It seems unsure of exactly whether it's more blue or gray though, and the colors swirl and mix at their leisure.
The fifth egg is a small one, and striped with fuzzy lavenders and blues. All that combined makes it seem very feminine.
The next egg is also small, although slightly larger than it's neighbor. Its color is a very dark red, and the top and bottom of the egg are orange.
Middle-sized, the next egg seems to blend in with the sand it rests on, except for the touch of vibrant salmon pink at its tip.
The eighth egg is a bit on the larger side, and pumpkin-orange in color. A circling vertical black stripe seems to cut the egg in half.
Number nine is small, and a creamy green color. Its base is darker, more of the color of dry beach grass.
Another small egg, this one is a surprisingly bronzey orange, especially for one its size. Other than its odd color, there is nothing different about this egg.
Eleventh is medium-large, and matches its small neighbor, except for that it's color is a bit less metallic.
Grassy green and specked with pink 'blossoms' is the best way to describe the next egg. It's in the middle in size, but a bit on the small side.
This egg is as unlucky in its color as its number in the countown, an ugly brown-green. It's smudged with dim yellows and brownish-reds.
The final egg is middle-sized and, although very pale, is obviously red. Violet tinges its base and tip.

xx o o c. Wow that was fast xDDDD Get a Touching post out and already Illia's attending a hatching xDD
xx b i c.
Illiaine had been in the Candidate Barracks when the call came, her silvery eyes slightly closed as she listened to the comforting 'purr' of Aedan as the Kagen rested beside her. Even though the small creature was asleep he seemed to be at least somewhat active, twitching his back feet as if he was running after something in whatever dreams he was having. However, it didn't take long for Illia to immediately sit up, her eyes wide with surprised as she hastily began to go about the preparations a Candidate did before attending such a miraculous event.
Quickly stepping out of her present clothing, she immediately slid on the white attire that had been given to her when she first became a Candidate -- and replaced as needed over the years. It was a bit more loose than she would have preferred, but it wouldn't do to go against tradition. Her hair had been pulled out of its usual restraints as she relaxed, and rather than redoing it she just finished the job, allowing her white-gold locks to fall about her shoulders as she quickly glanced at her two companions. Aedan was still fast asleep, but Frea was beginning the thrum and croo loudly, whisking about in the air in excitement. She knew what was about to unfold, and the little Barred didn't want to miss a second of it!
"A-alright, little one... we s-shall go then..." she said softly, sending one more sideways glance at Aedan before slipping out of the room and closing the door behind her. Frea crooed loudly and took off in the direction of the Hatching Sands, her Favourite close behind. The Candidate's heart was thumping loudly against her chest, nerves already building up inside of her. This wasn't her first hatching, but hopefully it may be her last as a Candidate this time. After all, she had already been left alone on the sands several times before...
• • • • • • • • • •
As she approached the Hatching Sands, the nerves already swirling in her entire being became more violent. She was doubting herself heavily, and felt strangely alone on the sands even though Frea was nearby, chirping encouragement to her Favourite between her loud trills and thrums of hatching song as she swooped about in the air. Slowly Illia approached the magnificent Violet queen on the sands, dropping into a bow again as she directed her formalities at both the Violet and her rider.
"L-lady Shador and m-magnificent Kelth, it is an honour t-t-to be here..." she murmured, her nerves causing her titles to lack a bit in their luster as she stuttered slightly. Blushing, she straightened up, her heart continuing to pound in her chest as she glanced at the eggs on the sands. Soon, young dragons would be surging to meet Their's... but would she be one? She couldn't be sure... already she had been deemed unworthy, what would make this time any different?

Wuith settled into his place just off the sands near Kelth, L'han sliding off his neck to seat himself on the tan's foreleg. In the rider's eyes, this was as much a day for Wuith as it was for Kelth and the hatchlings. It might a turn or more before another tan-sired clutch came along, violet or gold. It was quite sad, L'han's days as weyrleader might be numbered with the graduation of Nayarath's first clutch meaning some mighty competition...
They're all coming, our babies are hatching! Wuith called to his mate excitedlly. This was her second clutch, but his first.

"I...don't...understand...how...one dragonet...can get so...sharding dirty," A young man panted as he worked to lather the soap sand on a bright gold hide while trying to keep the brush from scraping too roughly over soft hide.
Mine. He's being entirely too gentle. He's missing spots all over my leg, Came an extraordinarily lazy sounding melodic voice in the young woman's mind from the other side of the young queen Voluspath.
The rider Brylorea sighed with exasperation, herself scrubbing doubly hard against the dragonet's side. From the other side of Voluspath, the young man wasn't sure if he should be wary of a sudden outburst from an annoyed gold Weyrling. She seemed nice enough and very helpful when Rhen had told her that his chore for the day was to help bathe any needy Weyrling. He hadn't sought her out on purpose, she was merely the first available to the task when he had strolled out to the Weyr Lake.
"She says -" The young woman began, stopping almost as suddenly and looking mildly perplexed. "Oh."
Confused, Rhen was about to ask, but got his answer almost immediately. Hurry! My babies are ready! Everyone to the sands! Hatching. Hatching. Hatching. Oh! Faranth! The Hatching! It had felt like hardly any time at all since the Touching and now...
"You'd better hurry up, boy! You're sopping wet and you need to get your robes on!" Brylorea told him, her suddenly firm voice bringing him out of his mild state of shock.
"R-right...Right, thank yeh for lettin' me help w'it cha dragon, lass," Rhen told her, bolting off in the direction of the Candidate Barracks.
He has the strangest voice... The gold remarked idly as she doused herself off, shaking water off herself the next moment and thoroughly soaking her rider. I want to watch the Hatching.
~~~
Not but two minutes later was Rhenaskel at the entrance of the Hatching Grounds, panting and still half wet in some places. His robes clung to the moist parts of his body and his hair was starting to curl and crinkle against the scorching heat of the Hatching Sands. What a great time for these little babies to make their way into the world.
His nerves were rattling and he uncomfortably adjusted his robes, finding them the most horrible pieces of wardrobe he could have ever imagined. He looked like he was in a dress! A dress! How could any man stand to don this outfit for so long? Even for tradition? Shaking his head sadly, he opened the front a little wider to both let more hot wafts of air in and in an attempt to make the robe look a bit more masculine.
Rhen had more things to worry about than a silly looking article of clothing. Already in the head of the quay, Candidates were bowing to the violet queen then taking whatever positions they preferred on the Grounds. It was suddenly his turn with more Candidates forming ranks behind him. He jerked down at the hips, bowing lower than he would to even the greatest Craftmaster. No words needed to be spoken to this queen, for she knew his purpose and had seen him at her Touching. Now, he would prove himself to her and to the others in this Weyr who thought he was a poor sad boy with no memory of who he was by Impressing!
With the other males, but more towards the center of the invisible barrier that seperated the males from the females, Rhen took his place on the Sands. He spared a glance for the crowd gathering and wasn't surprised to see a very neatly dressed gold Weyrling in the Stands. When she caught him looking in her direction she smiled reassuringly at him and nodded. She was almost at ground level with the dragonet sitting at the farthest edge of the Grounds, inconspicuous and out of the way for the coming dragonets.
~~
Rooting for him already? You barely know the boy, Voluspath said, her whirling eyes locking on the boy.
"Certainly. He managed to put up with you for longer than ten minutes," Bry chided gently, grinning at her charge.
The gold snorted, her way of rolling her eyes. I doubt he'll Impress more than a blue. She replied hotly, sending her rider into a fit of good natured laughter.
Kyrissa and Rivkah were both in the dining cavern, eating some bread and fruit for their noonday meal.
Hurry! My babies are ready! Everyone to the sands!
Kyrissa's head came round to look in the general direction of the hatching grounds, then she was up on her feet. This was it, her chace to impress had finally come and she was determined not to be late. She rush out of the dining cavern and towards her room. She needed to get into her robe, but was determined not to let it stop her getting to the hatching grounds on time.
As soon as she had the robe on, she was off again heading to the hatching grounds. As she went though the opening, she was surprised to see that at least three of the eggs were already rocking. She dropped a curtsey towards the violet dragon and her rider. "Good day to you both."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rivkah was up and out of his seat as quick as he could be, not wanting to be the last on the sands. Yet for that, he didn't run as Kyrissa did, instead he walked at a faster pace then normal. He had to make a detour to his room to collect his robe, quickly changing. He kept almost tripping over as he hurried to the hatching grounds. and he left out a sigh of relief as he walked through the entrance. He bowed to the violet queen then to her rider. "A good day to you. A nice one for a hatching indeed."

Lidi heard the voice of Kelth echo inside her head. She jumped up from her bed, where she had been sitting absently, and rushed outside of the Candidate Barracks, almost tripping at the entrance. She hurried down a lot faster than she should as she struggled to put on her white hatching clothes before she got down. She finally got them on and hurried to the hatching grounds. This would be her first hatching, and she was sure it would be very excited.
She almost tripped on her sandals several times as she rushed down. When she reached the sands, she bowed to Kelth, then made her way past the queen to a spot on the hatching grounds. She stood with the rest of the girls, up front. She wanted to have an excellent view of what happened.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I hate these sandals" Nalel muttered to himself as he put on his sandals and white robe. He was determined to do his best at this hatching. He hoped it could be his last. He walked out of the candidate barracks, not feeling like he could run in sandals. Nalel tried to keep up a brisk walk so as to get there as soon as possible without tripping. This was why he never wore sandals, he hated how they felt.
When he reached the sands, Nalel bowed clumsily to the queen, then walked over to the rest of the boys. He stood in about the middle of them all. Close enough to get a clear view, but not so close as to be in the very front.
((The Egg Touching should have happened some time ago, so the hatching wouldn’t seem so rushed if things had happened more on time. =P Anyways, I've been working on this for a while so I'll be running the actual hatching of eggs this time.)) Reminiscent of Kelth’s first clutch, it was a Tan that clambered from its egg first. It had originally been in the very large egg at the edge of the clutch, but the hatchling itself was only average. He stumbled his way towards the Candidates, coming to a halt before one of the first he reached and Impressing him with some relief ((yay for the first one to Impress to an NPC =P)). He seemed quite happy to have that over with. Meanwhile, the other eggs weren’t waiting. The small, dark red egg was hatching now, and soon a silver-green nose poked out, followed not much later by the easily recognizable body of a Barred. The wet egg goo still clinging to her made her dark stripes seem especially vibrant as she made her way across the sands to the girls, but then hesitated. She started shyly towards one girl, then backed quickly away. It would take her a while to choose her lifemate. To keep things moving, the yellow egg decided to bang against an egg beside it and crack open. The brightly-colored neighboring egg only received a great dent in its surface, it apparently wasn’t ready to open. But few probably noticed that, for the dragon that spilled from the yellow egg was unlike any seen so far. Its hide was a bit greenish, but it was much too big to be a Green, and its hide was very Blue too… but it was also too big to be a Blue. This dragon’s color was much more of a dark teal in color. Another odd thing about it was that it’s build almost seemed chubby… but that was part of the specific dragon. It fought its way to its feet, gave its head a good shake, and then headed straight for Rhenaskel. Why, R’skelMine! Can you just imagine the great adventures we can have together now that your Erosth is out of that egg?~~~ Dragon Color and Name: Tan Rondeauth Name Origin: A form of French poetry, the ‘first’ recorded Valentine was written as a Rondeau Age: Hatchling Appearance: Rondeauth is one of the darker Tans, his shade almost the color of dust. His stripes are very dark brown, and don’t seem to quite cover his feet, the ends of his toes are the same color as the majority of his body. Rondeauth is a sleek Tan, but lacks slightly in endurance. At 37 meters, Rondeauth is a middle-sized Tan. Personality: Rondeauth is a quieter dragon and prefers to keep out of things if he can. He can be a bit lazy too, and seems to believe that if he thinks about something, that’s good enough and he doesn’t actually have to carry it out. He also seems to have random ‘poet moments’ and likes words that rhyme or just have an interesting feel or sound to them. Color Code: burlywood or deb887 ((Adoptable!)) Dragon Color and Name: Teal Erosth Name Origin: The Greek (and better >.>) name for one of Aphrodite’s more famous sons, Eros is said to shoot heart-tipped arrows at people and make them fall in love. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Erosth’s hide is only a shade darker than teal and almost nothing seems to be different from that color. The only thing that ruins his almost pure color is a bright green that tips his headknobs, tail, and toes. Like most Teals, he also has something a bit off about his build- Erosth could almost be described as chubby. He’s on the heavyset side, but somehow seems to give that a plump look rather than the powerful one most dragons with similar appearances do. Despite that, he is still plenty agile and has better endurance than most dragons his size- 29 meters. Personality: Erosth is a romantic. He thinks the most of everything and expects everything from the slightest happening. The world has to turn out well, it’s just not to great too not! He almost completely lacks in worries, even Thread doesn’t intimidate him. “It’s just a poor little worm trying to carry out its lot in life, anyways.” Too bad that lot is something that isn’t the slightest bit beneficial for Pern. He’ll still readily fight it though, he has no worries whatsoever about that, of course. Color Code: darkcyan or 008b8b
Lidi watched as the Tan, Barred, and strange Teal dragon came out of their eggs. She watched with jealousy was the Tan and Teal chose to boys, and the Barred looked uncertainly around the girls. She knew there were plenty of eggs left to hatch, but she was still jealous. She looked at the unhatched eggs, wondering if there were anymore strange colors in there.
Illia's eyes widened slightly as the first eggs began to hatch, watching them as they shook and cracked before they finally spilled their contents onto the sands. A Tan was first, one of the pale males, soon followed by a Barred and a greenish-blue coloured creature. She had certainly not been expecting another new colour to appear, but gave a shy smile of congratulations as the Tan and teal-coloured dragons each chose their lifemates without much difficulty.
The Barred, however, had not. Illia turned her gaze back to the silvery-green creature, her own silver eyes sparkling at it as she silently urged it to find its partner. She knew it was possible that its lifemate wasn't present; something the young girl desperately did not want to occur. It was always a terrible thing when a hatchling was forced Between because its Chosen could not be found, one that ripped everyone present with heartache and sorrow.
She didn't even look to see which other eggs were hatching, her eyes firmly locked on the young female as she continued to silently call to it, as if her encouragement would help it decide which of the assembled Candidates was to be Her's. Frea called out loudly from up above, crying encouragement to her larger, Barred sister as the young firelizard darted about with hatching song mixed into her meladious tunes. [/blockquote]
The first one to hatch, the Tan, had gone straight to one of the boys and Impressed immediately. Not long after, a strange Teal colored dragon had emerged from its egg. It had gone towards Rhenaskel without pausing to look at anyone else.
As for the other dragon that had emerged, the Barred had gone to the girls. It hadn't found its partner yet, it seemed. None of them had looked at him, or any of the other boys that weren't Impressed either. Nalel was used to this of course, it had happened in his first hatching. Well, that one blue had looked at him for about three seconds...
That didn't matter anyhow. Nalel felt the fear inside him growing at the thought of this hatching's results. He pushed it back. This was not the same hatching. This was a completely different one, and something different was likely to happen. If nothing different happened, he would be going to another hatching sometime. He would be going to hatchings for a long time, in fact.
Unless he Impressed, of course. That was what he wanted to do, it was what everyone here wanted to do. Nalel hadn't counted, but he didn't think there were enough dragons here for every candidate on the sands. At least one candidate was bound to leave without a dragon.
What if it was him? No, Nalel refused to think that. He would do the best he could here, well, at least be as calm as he could, and if he got nothing for it, that would be the end of that.
Nalel focused his attention on the Barred. He wanted it to Impress, he didn't want to see any dragon from this clutch go between. He wondered if it would stay with the girls and find a partner there. It didn't matter that much, the dragon was the one that choose the candidate, not the candidate choosing th dragon. Nalel focused his attention on the eggs now, wondering which would hatch next.
A tan. A tan first. Well, that was certainly a good thing, was it not? Tans were just as good as bronzes, in Rhen's opinion. They seemed much more grounded, in a manner of speaking, than the brash and bold bronze was. He was excited! The tan was heading right for the boys aaand!!! Impressed to someone else. Shard it. How anticlimactic.
With a frown, he turned his attention to the second Hatchling of the Clutch. A fine barred. She looked healthy, but indecisive. For a moment, the barred looked like she might Impress to a girl on the other side of the Grounds, but she quickly turned away from her. Females. So indecisive. While she was making her pick, another Egg burst open and...
~~
"What is that?[/]" Brylorea asked her dragonet, whose head only raised slightly off the grounds to get a better view. "He's too green to be a blue and too blue to be a green! And he's big! What is it?"
A dragon. I told you your boy wouldn't Impress any more than a blue.
~~
In the same moment, Rhen saw exactly where the strangely built and strangely colored dragonet was going...Right for him! He didn't know how he knew, but he knew for certain that this...bluish green dragonet was no female! He didn't look like any picture or of any real blue he'd seen, nor of any green. Why was he so different? There were many reasons, but all of them sort of smudged together, leaving no real answer. The dragonet was so excited, so happy. So...Rhen's.
With the blur of emotions that entered his mind and his being, Rhen finds that the Impression of his Erosth is one of the few fuzzy memories he has. He remembers feeling extraordinarily happy, loved, and hungry. And then the voice, the beautifully strong voice in his mind.
Why, R’skelMine! Can you just imagine the great adventures we can have together now that your Erosth is out of that egg?
"I can't wait to find out!" He said, his strange color, his strange appearance all ignored in his blissful moment of Impression.
((Mwahahah)) The creamy green egg hadn’t been moving much originally, but now it decided to spontaneously combust, leaving a Barred with oddly light purple stripes looking rather dazed in its remnants. That hadn’t been what she’d expected. Once she got over the odd hatching, she bounced over to her sister, still shyly inspecting the female Candidates. This Barred felt a need to wait her turn, but didn’t want to wait too long, so she shoved the first female hatchling into a girl and then went her own way to another. The first Barred collapsed on top of Lidi, her eyes whirling yellow with fear. LidiMine! Valentinth is sorry for falling on you! She scrambled off the girl, hoping that she hadn’t injured her. The second Barred just nuzzled her new rider and they headed off to get the hatchling food. Now the contents brightly colored egg, its neighbors both now shards, decided to shove at the smashed bit on its edge, a gift from the Teal. For a little while, the line-riddled section of egg just throbbed, but finally some membrane on the inside broke and a very dark nose poked out. After a moment of pushing violently at the edge of the whole, the rest of the hatchling made its way onto the sand. This one, also, was unlike any hatchlings seen before. Its color was very dark gray, almost black, and along its belly, paws, throat, and chin ran fuzzy marks of very dark red. This hatchling had a heavy build, why it had taken so long to escape the egg was a mystery. It started a sour glare on its face, it made its way to the male Candidates. This hatchling was hardly bigger than a large Blue baby would be, but its grumpy expression made it seem plenty frightening anyways. And it didn’t seem to like any of the Candidates either. It paced grumpily in front of them without picking a lifemate. The pale red egg revealed the next hatchling, a second Teal. This one, unlike the dark hatchling just before it, knew just who it wanted and bounced happily across the sand to a boy the dark gray hatchling had just passed, and promptly Impressed him. Irritated that its brother could find a lifemate so quickly, the dark hatchling chose a boy also. ~~~ Dragon Color and Name: Barred Valentinth Name Origin: Valentines Day! Now we celebrate by giving our friends and loved ones gifts or just wishing it never existed. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Velentinth’s hide is overall a very light green, and her stripes are an especially dark shade of purple in contrast. She is lean, with a feline suppleness and agility that even some Greens would be envious of. Her headknobs are a bit stubby, but other than that her build and proportions are very well within the range of perfect. She is a middle-sized Barred at 26 meters, and has a habit of making herself look smaller than she is. Personality: Valentinth is a sweet little dragon, but shy too so for the most part others just see her as quiet and withdrawn. She likes to be in crowds but not exactly part of them- being around company doesn’t mean she has to communicate or anything with them, apparently. She is often easily deceived or fascinated and prefers to rely on her rider in all areas. Despite, when left to her own mechanics, Valentinth can be creative and is sure to at least lead interesting Flights. Color Code: d9ffd9Dragon Color and Name: Barred Amoreth Name Origin: Amore, love! (in Italian, anways) Age: Hatchling Appearance: A pale silver-green, Amoreth’s stripes seem to be pale also, a new trait to Barreds. She makes up for the odd coloring with size though, at 28 meters Amoreth is about the largest a Barred can be. Her build is slender, with large paws adding a cute factor to her appearance. She likes to be in contact with things and will often lean against her rider or walls; she gets a little nervous while flying, but not enough to stop her from doing it. Personality: Amoreth is a curious mix of bashful and excitable, she might be bouncing around at the idea of something one minute and then embarrassed or worried about it the next. She likes to try new things, meet new people, and explore new places, but she’ll always be a bit nervous about it too. There’s always that chance that things don’t work out, and she picks at and enflames that chance to much larger dimensions. It somehow works out though, and often because she pays close attention to the possibility of failing, she is reliable and can usually come through anything successfully. Color Code: honeydew or F0FFF0((Adoptable!)) Dragon Color and Name: Teal Santh Name Origin: There are a lot of theories behind Valentines Day’s name, but one is because of a man called Saint Valentine who secretly married men after Claudius banned marriage. Age: Hatchling Appearance: A very good example of a Teal, Santh’s color is simply teal. He has a collection of lighter spots on his face, but other than that his color is pure, unchanging, and the exact color Teals are based around. He has a somewhat stubby build though, except for his wide wings. Average-sized for a Teal, Santh is 33 meters, although his slightly short extremities and oversized wings can make his size look a little off too. Personality: Santh is a cheerful enough dragon, he can usually find something good in everything and likes to get along with others rather than fight… but he doesn’t seem to show it. He’s friendly, yes, but he doesn’t trot around like most Teals commenting on just how wonderful the world is and constantly being amazed- and showing it- by everything around him. He likes to take things in and keep them there, not share his feelings. Color Code: teal or 008080 ((Adoptable!)) Dragon Color and Name: Charcoal Maltath Name Origin: Malta is a place where relics of Saint Valentine are said to be found. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Maltath’s hide is a very deep gray-black color, and his ember marks are also dark, but a very deep shade of red instead. He has a slightly heavy, menacing build, often emphasized by the grumpy expression usually on his face. Maltath has a thing for standing with his wings half spread and his head held low, and he is almost always glaring. At just over 35 meters, Maltath has the size to add to the intimidating posture he likes to keep up, and plenty of strength to back it. Personality: Maltath’s personality is just what anyone would expect when they look on him- grumpy. He wouldn’t ever hurt his rider, but he’s not afraid to snap at anything, and will injure things that aren’t too special to him. He doesn’t like listening to orders and mostly prefers sitting back and grumbling rather than taking any action at all. One would think that frightening others or biting people would be an order he would follow, but he will just wonder why someone would be so stupid as to ask him to do something and, as usual, grumble about it. A good strategy for anyone in Maltath’s presence is to make any idea seem like his idea, then he’s a bit more likely to carry it out. But don’t expect him to ever be happy about anything except flaming Thread and ripping herdbeasts apart. Color Code: 1F2222 and 8C2424 ((Adoptable!))
((Poor Lidi . On an unrelated note, I love hatchings)) A lot happened very quickly for Lidi. The creamy green egg suddenly exploded and a Barred dragon came out of it. The dragon then came right over to join her sister Barred look at the female candidates. The next thing Lidi knew, she was on the ground with the heat searing her. A voice came into her head in the next instant. LidiMine! Valentinth is sorry for falling on you! Lidi tried to think through the daze quickly. She finally decided to push Valentinth off her gently, then she stood up. Valentinth backed away slightly, and Lidi brushed the sand off of herself quickly. Then Lidi turned her attention to Valentinth. The dragon was still sorry for making Lidi fall over. "Don't worry about it, it wasn't your fault" Lidi said softly. It hadn't been Valentinth's fault, her sister had knocked her over. Lidi scratched Valentinth softly on her eye ridge, admiring the Barred dragon. She thought, in some back part of her brain, that every newly Impressed candidate felt the same way she did, but wasn't Valentinth the loveliest ever? Lidi admired her pale green color with the dark purple contrast. Valentinth still seemed sorry she had fallen on Lidi. Lidid told her it was okay again. Valentinth stopped trying to apologize, but Lidi could tell she was still unhappy. Lidi sighed, givign up on trying to make Valentinth realize it was okay, and instead stared at the dragon in amazement. She stil couldn't believe she was the life-long friend of this beauty.
((*hums* The advantage of NPC's... Sparrow doesn't have to wait for as many people to post! *shotdead*)) The pumpkin egg fell apart next, revealing a third new color. This one was large, a bit larger than the average Brown hatchling, and a deep blue-purple color, specked with points of yellow-white. Its belly was more sky blue. Looking uncertain beneath the many eyes surely on it, the hatchling made its way quickly to the girls and nudged Lyn (who we’re pretending is here). Lyn! Februeth is nervous in this new place, and very hungry. Help me? A feminine tone was the final decision on the hatchling’s gender, at least to Lyn. The large blue gray egg was done waiting, it dramatically fell apart, leaving a light Tan standing proudly on the Sands. He started across the Sands, carefully inspected each boy, and then went back to one of the first he had visited, Riscan (NPC… but he exists because of my random post xP). Well R’can, Romeoth has chosen you.As the Tan had been inspecting boys, the lavender and blue striped egg also broke with its own element of attention-grabbing. A dainty Barred slowly uncurled and made her way elegantly across the sand. She didn’t need to inspect any girls, she knew just who to go to- Illiaine. Illia! Julieth is here! Are you happy? I’m hungry. ~~~ Dragon Color and Name: Sky Februeth Name Origin: Valentines Day occurs in February. =P Age: Hatchling Appearance: Frebrueth’s hide has more blue in it than most Skies and she seems to have an extra spattering of star-specks to go with it. The lighter blue that runs from her throat, along her stomach, and about midway down her tail is a bit light too, maybe matching skies on very hot summer days. She seems to almost completely lack the white smudges that usually are mixed in with the light blue of a Sky’s belly. A bit on the small side for her color, Februeth is just under 33 meters in length. Personality: Februeth is a quietly cheerful Sky. She is a little shy about sharing her feelings, but also has trouble holding them back. Occasionally she’ll just have explosions of strong emotion, immediately followed by her being terribly embarrassed for having such an outburst. She likes small and cute things, but is also very careful around them and often can’t enjoy them quite as much as she’d like because she’s worried that she could do something bad to it, being the great big dragon that she is. She is constantly doubting herself and usually gets embarrassed by praise, but secretly she’ll store it away and be better for it. For the most part, she’s full of praise and compliments for others, but doesn’t think much of herself. Color Code: 3B038E and lightskyblue(87CEFA)Dragon Color and Name: Tan Romeoth Name Origin: Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is a crazy boy who fell in love with a girl from the wrong family, secretly married her, and then committed suicide because he thought Juliet was dead. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Romeoth is a handsome Tan with a slightly lighter hide and very black, narrow stripes. His build is long and powerful, although altogether he is a bit on the small side for Tans, maturing at 34 meters in length. He tends to have a vain posture, with his head always raised high and proud and cocked slightly and his wings folded neatly to his side while his tail trails behind just slightly off the ground. Personality: Romeoth goes through romances like a Green flitter goes through eggs. One morning he might wake up and be completely obsessed with some Barred, but by the end of the day his attention has turned to a Violet, and the next morning he’s thinking completely of another female. He thinks of little else. His downfall is that Romeoth is also a bit intimidated by females and often is frightened to make the first move. Unless it’s just him and her, he’s likely to just watch and wish without her ever knowing. As for his rider, Romeoth’s had better be a skirt chaser too or he has no hope with this dragon at all. Color Code: khaki or FOE68C ((Adoptable!)) Dragon Color and Name: Barred Julieth Name Origin: Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Juliet was a silly girl who fell in love with a guy and married him in like… one night. Then she ended up almost having to marry another guy, and when a plan went bad, she committed suicide. What a book. Age: Hatchling Appearance: A dainty Barred, Julieth only barely reaches twenty-three meters and seems smaller than that because of her light build. She always has a fragile, damsel-in-distress sort of look about her, and her very pale hide against her very dark violet stripes only seems to add to that. Everything from her head knobs to her toes is slender and pretty, but nothing about her makes her look like she would really be up to fighting Thread, or doing much that dragons do at all. Personality: Julieth’s personality is the opposite of her looks. She is fiery, strong-willed, and determined. Nothing can hold her back once she makes a decision. Julieth loves to go against the grain and do everything possible in the way least expected or against the rules. All her daring suddenly disappears when she’s around a male that she likes or a human her rider likes though- suddenly that ‘damsel in distress’ appearance of hers comes into play to catch a possible hero’s attention. Color Code: f6fff6
So many had hatched. How many were left? Nalel didn't want to count. There had been plenty of new colors, plenty of Impressions, yet there were still so many candidates without dragons. Even worse, he was among them. Yes, some people were happy. Well, that just seemed to be the way it was. There would be plenty more hatchings, he just wished he wouldn't have to go to any of them. At least, not as a candidate. Well, if he had to, he had to.
Nalel watched as dragons continued to come out of eggs. There were so many new colors. He already knew how many had hatched, though he didn't want to. 9 had hatched. That left 5 left on the sands that had yet to hatched. He felt fear gnawing at him. Noen of them had really even looked at him. He wished one of the dragons would at least acknowledge him, if they wouldn't Impress him. On the upside of things, that Barred dragon hadn't had to go between. It knocked its rider over instead. How nice. Nalel hoped that didn't happen to him.
Kelth nuzzled her mate, then turned her attention to the first egg to hatch, her hum intensifying. When the Tan spilled onto the sands, she let out a triumphant bugle. A strong son, just like you, she said to Wuith. Another egg was soon to follow. A blue! No, a green! Wait...
Shador leaned forward, frowning. Kelth, is that a blue or a green? she asked, not able to tell herself. It was either a very bluish green or a very greenish blue.
Kelth studied the baby for a moment. It's a...both, she decided. Look, Wuith. We made special babies! Two Barreds hatched in quick succession, and then another Teal. It looked like they weren't just a one-time thing.
The Violet's eyes whirled with surprise when a red and black hatchling stepped out of one of the eggs. There was no way this one could be mistaken for any other color. It's a red black dragon! I don't know what to call it...Rack?
Shador chuckled, shocked at what she was seeing. We'll have to think up a better name later... Just then, a dark blue but definitely female dragon joined the other new colors. Shador shook her head. Were there going to be more surprises in this clutch?
L'han just looked on with pride at the first 2 hatchling. A tan and barred, he expected no less. What came next though....
He's a Teal, a fine strong male Wuith answered, though he was slightly uneasy by everyone's responce. He was big and strong, why would they point at him for being different as they had with Kelth and himself.
The red black male and dark blue female that came shortly after got more gasps. L'han watched intently, this was too weird. Lilac had been caught by Y'xem's tan firelizard and their hatchlings had been 'normal'. Was this more mutations?
Our sons and daughters are special, also big fine hatchlings. You laid a very fine clutch Wuith crooned to Kelth, nuzzling her affectionately.
Kyrissa had been watching all the hatchlings that had hatched, not noticing that her egg had hatched and the dragonet impressed to a boy. She looked round at the eggs and a look of utter sadness came over her. Oh Faranth. I did so feel drawn to that egg, so why, oh why did it not impress me? I don't even know which dragonet it was, I was so intent on the hatchlings already on the sands. That was just her luck, yet there were still other eggs to hatch, were there not? She would concentrate on those, but if she didn't impress she didn't know what she'd do.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rivkah watched hopefully as each male dragonet inspected the male candidates, including himself. He was especially hopeful when one of the tans sniffed at him, yet it didn't impress to him. Instead, he watched as it went back to his brother and impressed to him, making him smile. If only one of them could impress, he'd rather it be his brother and not him. "Congratulations R'can, brother." He was truly happy for his brother but he hoped that he impressed as well, so that they could be weyrlings together.

((Just a couple of short posts to get my two on the Sands.))
Daraco was late, as usual, but, as usual, he was late with style. He had, in fact, heard Kelth's announcement, but having been in the middle of bathing, he had refused to answer until he had been cleaned, dried, robed, and was able to make his own dignified way to the Hatching Sands. Too proud to bow to any living thing, Daraco made his way to the center of the clutch, where the five eggs were waiting to be hatched. His two browns settled on his shoulders with a slight air of disdain for their bigger cousins.
_~_
Oh no, I'm late!
Izzy was tying her hair up into a bun as she ran to the Hatching Ground, utterly disheveled. Her white candidate's robe was bunched and twisted around her curves, and the coat she always wore over everything flapped in the wind she created. Strife had her head poked out of her pocket, enjoying the feel of wind on her face.
She skidded to a halt once she reached the sand, sending a little riff of sand-spray into the air. Was she too late? No, five eggs had yet to hatch, although how she knew that, she'd never know because of the confusing muddle of hatchlings, candidates, and weyrlings.

Three eggs hatched in quick succession now, the small, bronzey one, the grassy, ‘blossomed’ one, and the sand-colored egg, all three revealing more of the new males that had started showing up earlier in the clutch. Two black and red Charcoal’s glowered at each other around the shivering orange egg that separated them, and then turned and marched towards the male Candidates, their expressions aloof. The third hatchling, a third Teal, sped towards the boys too, but his face was just an excited draconic grin. He was free! After running a few circles around the boys, the Teal crouched down and started stalking along behind them, his rump wagging and his wings half-spread, just barely off the ground. The boys who turned around to look at him he ignored, he wanted to take someone by surprise. Taking advantage of the distraction caused by the Teal, the Charcoal that had hatched from the metallic egg suddenly leapt, his stocky form carrying him straight to Rivkah. Hot sand sprayed up around him as he skidded to a stop before the boy. R’kah! Claudiuth is here! Does the sand burn you? You’re going to have to ignore it, I am very hungry. The second charcoal snorted at his brother and started towards another boy. Then the Teal pounced, his forepaws smashing into Daraco’s back, and soon the rest of the skinny dragonet followed. ((And I’m just imagining he fell over… or something… sorry about the pp)) What’re you doing there, D’raco? Do you like these sands? I think they’re rather hot against my feet. Well, actually, maybe they weren’t too bad, but it hurt my belly. Well, maybe they didn’t, I think that actually my belly is hurting on the inside. Lupercaliath is hungry! Yes! That’s it! Hungry! Get up and feed me, my D’raco!The last unImpressed Charcoal snorted at his larger and much greener brother’s show, then settled himself in front of Nalel. N’lel, I am hungry. And that Teal is insane. Can we eat quickly and get away from him? And possibly all of them? There is no reason for Hearth to have to waste his time with dragons like them.Two eggs were left on the sands, both at least semi-large ones, and both shaking. But they weren’t ready to hatch just yet. ~~~ Dragon Color and Name: Charcoal Claudiuth Name Origin: Emperor Claudius decided that married men didn’t make good soldiers and banned marriages, later, he had Saint Valentine beheaded for secretly marrying men and then trying to convert Claudius. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Claudiuth’s hide is just barely not black, and has occasional tinges of lighter, smoky grays. He has ember marks in the places usual for a Charcoal, and they are a very dark red color that really seems to glow on his hide. Odd for a Charcoal, Claudiuth also has ember marks tingeing his wing membranes, making him a somewhat frightening spectacle when flying (especially at night). Claudiuth is a large Charcoal, nearly 34 meters in length. Personality: Claudiuth is a troublemaker, and seems to take great joy in being caught in the act. For some reason, bothering people is what makes him happy. To those he likes (his rider, basically) he is extremely loyal, but to everyone else… watch out. Claudiuth also is very strict when it comes to revenge and taking offense at things, and he’ll do so for his rider too, at all the most inopportune moments. Being the leader and intimidating others into letting him be so is another important thing to Claudiuth, the only dragons allowed to boss him around are queens, and even their orders he’ll grumble about. Color Code: 202020 and darkred(8B0000)Dragon Color and Name: Teal Lupercaliath Name Origin: Lupercalia was a holiday celebrated by ancient Romans February 13-15. The details are not-so-good, but it is a cool name. Age: Hatchling Appearance: Lupercaliath is a lighter Teal than most, but he has a long stripe of darker color running down his back and his wing membranes are also darker than his main body color. Like his name, Lupercaliath is long, 37.5 meters altogether. He has a sleek look to him, everything about him is a bit longer than it really needs to be but his proportions add up anyways to make a dragon simply built for speed. That does have its downfalls though, and he’s not the most agile beast. Browns can often outmaneuver him and in fighting Thread his best strategy is to just flick between rather than try and twist and weave like smaller and more flexible dragons can. Personality: Lupercaliath is sporadic at best. He can never seem to keep his focus on any one thing, and is always bouncing from one subject to the next. Anything that lasts longer than about thirty seconds outlasts his attention span; his inflexible body gives way to an excessively flexible mind. He can be a bit of a prankster too, and loves to make jokes out of anything and everything. He seems to realize his lack of a worthwhile attention span and inflexible body too, and often uses those as the butt of his jokes. Making fun of himself is one of his favorite pastimes since it doesn’t usually offend anyone. Color Code: lightseagreen or 20b2aa Dragon Color and Name: Charcoal Hearth Name Origin: There’s nothing more romantic than a fireplace! Age: Hatchling Appearance: Hearth’s hide is more of a very dark, ashy gray than the gray-black most Charcoal’s sport. His ember marks are also lighter than average, and line the edge of his jaw and the ridges along his back rather than totally keeping to the usual place for these markings. Hearth’s build is lighter too, a bit more agile and delicate looking than most of his color. Small, Hearth is only barely 25 meters in length, a somewhat embarrassing size since larger Greens can outsize him. Personality: Hearth is a surprisingly cooperative Charcoal, but past that he keeps up their usual personality: pessimistic and grumbly. He can come up with a complaint for even the best of things; he could probably even win a Flight and have something bad to say about it. His small body is overflowing with ‘bad vibes’, and although Hearth is much smaller than most of his kind, his sour personality does more than enough to make up for it. Color Code: 252525 and 700B0B
