Okay, Chartreuse could see where Sabresk got off being so crabby when clutching. She didn't like having bulgy things inside of her, didn't like how bulky they made her feel. She was usually such a lithe barred, fit from her playful lifestyle. Now, she felt chunky, bulky, and very much undesirable.
It was time to lay the eggs.
For the spot, Chartreuse chose the Hatching Cavern she'd been born in. After all, Hers had lived there when the big gold had laid a clutch, so her clutch would obvisouly be discovered!
She dove into the sand, spraying it everywhere- in the five foot radius she was capable of. A suirreling of wings to shake the sand off, and Chartreuse settled down to the business of laying a clutch. Time Passes, even when it seems impossible, even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. I passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me.
Is it over?
Chartreuse didn't feel the urge to lay anymore, so she peeked over the top of one violet-striped wing to see how she had done.
Six eggs lay nestled in a perfect circle, cushioned by sand on all sides. Satisfied, the barred rose, and power-flapped her way to an acceptable height. From there, she transferred between. Time to go hunting.
Madame Cloud Splendour
A delicate pink color, Madame Cloud Splendour is a very feminine-looking egg. Fussy and fastidious, the colour brings up thoughts of frilly dresses, lace-edged garments, and somehow, a pure soprano voice.
Evening Radiance
Soft evening light filtered through mild clouds illuminate Evening Radiance. It could almost give off a light of its own, and looks as though it will flex away when you touch it.
Lotus Blossom
Lotus Blossom is floating in a solitary pool at night, surrounded by stillness, accompanied by nothing but the sound of your own breath. It is quietly lapping waves around your shoulders just before you plunge in for the first time.
Terrace Nightingale
And just before you fall asleep, a bird sings you a lullaby, a gently lulling sound that starts off as silence, and crescendoes into the sweetest notes you've ever heard.
Whisper in the Dark
Smoke coils, coalescing into shapes, images, things that aren't there. Whispers abound, telling secrets, stories, lies that you don't want to hear. When you beg for death, you beg for the Whisper in the Dark
Lover's Kiss
When the full moon shines That's when I'll come home
A good clutch, all things considered. Have at it! ((Quote courtesy of Ms. Stephanie Meyer. Lover's Kiss lyrics courtesy of Black Ghosts.))

xx o o c. *shoves Aeyr forward*

While probably not as astute as their cousins, whers still seemed to have a dull realization when one of their own or another individual within the Labyrinth set the scales for life. Aesk released a low, rumbling growl from where he was curled up on the floor, shifting his pupiless gaze in his Handler's direction as the dark haired man looked at him in mild surprise. Generally the beast was silent, even in Aeyr's presence, thus the fact that the wher had abruptly chosen to gain his attention took the man by slight surprise. "Aeysk?"
The wher merely replied with a grunt and a jerk of his head before settling down again, laying his head on his claws and curling his tail around his body. He knew his Handler had a certain liking for his smaller cousins, though the Blue didn't really feel like getting up to attend the hatching himself. Anyway, the less crowded things were the better. Even so, Aeyr still appeared a bit confused before Aeysk finally loosed a somewhat song-like croo, which vaguely sounded like the birthing song the flitts generally cried out when a birth was taking place. Eyes widening, Aeyr broke out into a rather silly grin and rushed off, only pausing long enough to snatch the small hunk of meat Aeysk had left from his last feeding.
The man hurried quickly through the hallways, deciding to check out the hatching caves first considering they were the most likely to be chosen as a nesting ground. As he approached, however, he slowed his speed, deciding he didn't want to startle a brooding mother firelizard and enact her anger. That definitely wouldn't be a favourable condition, even though flitts generally didn't mind their young bonding to a human immediately after hatching.
Easing himself slowly through the entrance, he looked around for a moment before settling his eyes on the eggs. He wasn't sure if they were upon hatching or not, but at least he knew where they were once they were ready. Just, where was the mother? [/blockquote]

Silisk, on the other hand, did arrive at his handler's side, the young blue's tail twitching like a felines as he regarded the eggs, so much smaller than wher eggs, with curiosity, then sort of snarled at them and at her.
"Easy, lad," Silia said. "Firelizards are company, not food."
The blue settled into a sort of crouch, regarding them, but the hint of red in his eyes faded, replaced purely by blue and green.
"Besides. You just ate. And if you even think about eating an egg or hatchling..."
The look Silisk gave his handler was almost indignant. He wasn't really going to. Where was the dam? Nowhere in sight. "Assuming they hatch, as I'd lay bets this is a green clutch."

((Why a Stephanie Meyer quote? *dies at the thought of her being incorporated into Nyocia* But Pari wants a flitter anyways... =P Sparrow always needs more flitters, anyways.))
Parisk gave the two Blues in the cavern a very Greenish look as she entered, followed closely by a curious Pari. What were a bunch of flitter eggs doing just lying in the sand with no mother? They were probably a Green’s or something, since they had just been abandoned.
Pari hoped he wouldn’t end up with a second Green, but figured it would be fun to raise a fire-lizard too. Since they didn’t know what the mother was anyways, this was a mystery and the hatchlings could be anything! The lack of a vicious mother hinted that this at least wasn’t a Gold’s clutch.
Snuffling excitedly, Parisk reached as discreetly as she could manage at the eggs. They smelled good! Could she eat them? Hers seemed to be waiting for them to do something, but she figured they would make a much better snack since they weren’t. A slight nudge in the side from the tip of Pari’s boot moments later decided Parisk on leaving them alone for the moment.
“I think I’d rather have a flitter than a bunch of people angry at me for letting my wher eat the eggs,” Pari told Parisk softly. Her eyes whirled playfully- it had all been a joke, really!- and the boy turned his attention back to the eggs.

At long last, the Penchi Silk Clutch was ready to hatch.
The first laid was the first hatched. Madame Cloud Splendour trembled at first beforea tiny forepaw punched its way through. Without fanfare, covered in the damp of new life, a vivacious barred entered the world. Creeling pitifully, she made a beeline for the nearest thing that smelled like food- Silia.
Terrace Nightingale started hatching before her sister finished. The patterned shell rocked violently before the green inside exploded it, sending shards every which way. Ravenous, she staggered her way towards a big blue blue- Aeyrsk, to be Impressed by Aeyr.
The next to hatch was tranquil Lotus Blossom. The green egg only trembled slightly before cracks threaded their way through. It didn't shatter so much as...disintegrate? Anyways, the pale green gave way to show a shivering blue that didn't speak as he crabstepped his way to Pari.
While everyone watched her brother hatch, Lover's Kiss had relinquished its hatchling. The exact replica of her mother, from the vibrant green colour to the vivid violet stripes, the barred pounced on her blue brother as he crabstepped to Pari.
The lone brown of the clutch, Evening Radiance, kicked a hole in his shell angrily before freeing himself. Muttering fiercely, he spotted his green sister getting something to eat. He half-flapped his way over, stumbling over wet, too-long wings.
The most menacing egg in the clutch, Whisper in the Dark, made its first move. All attention was to be centered on it, because it held the jewel of the clutch. A tiny hatchling emerged, as brilliant as a blue diamond in the dim light of the glows. He imperiously demanded food from Silia.

Two firelizards? Silisk sent query to her, he knew they were not food, but she could sense the wher wondering exactly what such tiny creatures were good for. Well, she could explain to him, within a blue wher's understanding, later. "You guys need names." The blue was obvious, he was so brilliant, so jewel-like, he could only be "Sapphire". He chirped, then seemed to dismiss the idea of names as at all important, the food mattering much more. The barred, in so much of a hurry to hatch and Impress took more thought. Sapphire and...and... Silia peered at her. The female of the family, albeit no queen, oh, no queen at all. She laughed, at the way the barred had been so...direct, in her approach. Just like a... "Veetol." Blue Sapphire and barred Veetol, for the records

Pari hadn't expected two flitters to come to him; although maybe he could discount the Barred, since she seemed more intent on tackling her brother. Not that he didn't want her. Parisk nudged the Barred, curious about the hatchlings vibrant color and why she was on top of this other frightened baby.
After nudging his wher somewhat out of the way, Pari scooped up the pair of flitters. The Blue immediately pressed against his shirt, happy to have something to hide against. The Barred took a hopeful nip at his fingers- she was hungry. Parisk rumbled softly, deciding she liked this flitt already and sending Hers her approval of the hatchling.
The Blue, still shivering against him, was easy to name. "Shiver... and Pounce." Pari wasn't a boy too worried about creative names. These would work just fine. He had to get food for the pair now, and Parisk bounced cheerfully along behind him, still wondering about these knew hatchlings, and a bit hungry too.
