During the past few days, many of the men of the Weyr had probably been fortunate--or unfortunate--enough to be treated to Shador's flirtatious advances. If they tried to reciprocate, she got angry. If they ignored her, she got angrier still. No doubt about it, the girl was proddy. Kelth was also showing signs of her upcoming Flight. Not only was her hide a bright, vibrant purple, but she was acting unusually affectionate to anyone who crossed her path. She was not usually a flirtatious dragon, but anytime she saw a male, she would start calling out compliments and teasing words, hoping to get some attention.
So no one was surprised when the Violet interrupted lunch one day with a bugle. Shador, who had been sipping at some after-lunch klah, jumped up from her seat, pushing away the bluerider she had been flirting with, and ran outside. She looked up to see Kelth gliding across the weyrbowl, her hide vivid. The Violet circled over the feeding grounds, pouncing on a herdbeast.
Blood only! Shador reminded her dragon. This time, the struggle was much less difficult. Kelth only resisted for a few minutes before blooding the beast dry. Then she went to find a second as the males gathered around. Shador made her way to her weyr and stood in the entrance, waiting to see who her suitors would be.
((Just a reminder, bronzes, browns, and tans could all catch a violet. I wouldn't object to a blue chasing just for fun, either. Also, Fairytale weyrlings are eligible to chase if they want.))

Ekirith had been keeping a careful eye on Kelth for some time now, watching the queen, ensuring he knew just when she would Rise again. He had caught her last time, but the Brown was perfectly aware that the chances of him getting her again were just as low as they had been last time. The two duds may have lowered his chances even further.
Despite that, Ekirith was completely focused on winning the lovely queen a second time. Shador was not a particularly devoted mate for His, but that made little difference to the Brown when it came to Kelth. J’ran wasn’t all that interested in mates anyways. But he didn’t mind Ekirith chasing females, as long as they had female riders too.
So, Ekirith was quick to swoop into the feeding pens when he heard Kelth bugle, and then saw her headed there. Ah, his perfect queen was finally nearly ready for a second Flight! Ekirith waited for the queen to take a beast, and then he dove for his own, keeping a careful distance from her, but doing his best to not let his gaze wander from her glowing hide.
The Brown was anxious already, there was no disguising that. He felled a large beast and set to blooding it, all the while watching Kelth. Excitement and lust put out the little spark of dismay Ekirith had been feeling for some time as he set to sucking the hot blood from his prey. When would his queen take to the skies?
J’ran, in the lower caverns, stared uncertainly down at his half-eaten lunch. Oh, he had known this was coming, and wasn’t looking forward to it. If Ekirith was worried about losing the Flight, of course J’ran was. And it was probably already too late to avoid whatever outcome came. Fly well then, J’ran gave his dragon a little dry encouragement before leaving his food and trudging to Kelth’s weyr.

Wuith was rather enjoying his time assisting Amirinth and K’laon with the youngest weyrlings, even if most of the time he just had to stand there and observe. It never crosses his mind that the class was almost sired by him, only when L’han brought it up. The first tan rider seemed to see it as more of a matter of pride then the … entertainment, flights brought. As of yet, Pern had yet to see the breeding capabilities of tans but that was very likely to change. One was now nine in numbers, all very fine beasts. Currently with bronze Alduth out of commission, a tan was now leading the Weyr. No one could deny that Wuith was doing a fine job, even with L’han being as old as some of the Weyrlings. Well, they were only temporary.
Wuith raised his head, feeling the strong emotions of a female rising. Kelth, a fine prize. He had lost one queen but that Kelth was very different to Nayarath, and yet he hesitated for that exact reason. He had come close to catching the senior gold, and his actions might loose him favor when she rose in the upcoming months. Mating lust swelled and his mind was made for him, he would chase. Nayarath cared nothing for the unproven male color.
His hesitation would cost him dearly, he noted as he quickly felled a buck. The other males had more time to gorge on energy filled blood, while he may only just be able to finish. Rumbling impatiently, he eyed the violet as L’han made his way up to Shador’s weyr. He wasn’t worried about the flight, if Wuith won it’ll be exciting. If he lost then it wasn’t anything new.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Kayth yawned and stretched out, almost confused to what had roused him from his slumber. The young bronze was fast approaching his graduation, his coppery hatching color now faded into a light bronze and his size was nothing to look down on. Infact he was the one finding himself looking down on everyone, physically of course. He had been told that he wasn’t quite a ‘typical’ bronze in mentality but he was certainly less selfish and prideful.
A strange feeling was taking over him, his eyes spinning with purple. Kelth, oh why had he not realized how beautiful the violet was before? So graceful in flight, he had to follow her into the feeding grounds! D’mas however picked up on his bronze’s condition rather quickly. Wasn’t it early for the bronze to be chasing?!
Go to Kelth’s weyr, the other’s riders are. I’m going to chase! Though he was already dragging his first kill onto a ledge to blood.

xx o o c. ...Lol, I'm gonna be the random Blue lD Just to get some character development in for I'mny and Tekisith xD
xx b i c.
Violet Kelth is Rising... Tekisith's voice purred through I'mny's mind as the WeyrlingMaster focused on rubbing oil into his thick, velvety skin. The man glanced at him, his ocean blue eyes narrowing slightly as he tossed a few strands of his long, black hair from his eyes. A slight frown was firmly placed on his lips.
"You're a Blue... you don't chase Violets..." he said stiffly, feeling the urges of lust that had begun to build up in his dragon's mind. While the WeyrlingMaster doubted heavily that Tekisith could even come close to catching a Violet, he couldn't help dreading having to go to Kelth's Weyr as it took place. "If you're so eager for it wait for a Green to Rise!"
Tekisith twitched his tail, touches of purple beginning to swirl into his eyes. It has been many moonpasses since I have chased, Mine. I wish to make sure that the first Green that Rises will be my own to Fly. I want to make sure my wings will not fail me even in the prime of the Flight. He quickly unfurled his wings, his eyes glistening a deep shade of purple as he shoved himself into the air.
I'mny sighed, realizing that once again he had lost his arguement when it came to Flights. Tekisith had always gotten his way on that. Blood only... and fly well... he called mentally. It was his responsibility as Tekisith's Rider to wish the dragon luck, even if he was hoping that nothing would come of the Flight; like he always did. Watching for only long enough for Tekisith to dive towards the ground towards the herdbeast below before he set off for Kelth's Weyr.
••••••••••
Tekisith felt his claws slice easily through the headbeast's hide as he came upon it. He closed his jaws around the creature's throat and promptly twisted his head, hearing the satisfying crack! that showed he had successfully snapped the creature's neck. Setting upon his meal, he created deep gouges in the herdbeast's side, quickly lapping up the blood that poured forth until the beast seemed to be dry. He repeated the maneuver with a second, before during his eyes skyward.
Kelth was not a Green, which were typically the dragons he normally chased, but his growing lust had finally revealed to him just how beautiful she really was. He bugled loudly, bringing his wings down again as he took off into the air. The breeze was cool against his skin, and his powerful beats brought him soaring upward, towards the Brown, Tan, and Bronze that was already in formation behind the lovely Violet. Hmph... they were bigger, thus not as agile as he... he would show them that a Blue was capable of gaining the affections of any female he desired, and his lust would give him strength once he held his beauty. The other males were no matter to him... he would Fly Violet Kelth.
He settled himself behind the other males, choosing to use as little strength as possible until all the males that would chase arrived. While he had the speed and agility the larger dragons did not, he also had less stamina, and he wasn't about to allow that small mention to interfere with him claiming his beautiful, divine Violet Kelth. No... not at all. He brought his wings down again, his lust continuing to grow. If only I'mny could be up here with him; he would show the man that lust and love wasn't something anyone should flee from, it was just so marvelous a feeling. [/blockquote]

Meagen sat in silence, she was working on more harnesses. She had gotten an order of twelve of them, for a holder that had gotten some eggs from her. There where several new, and older, Fire-lizards in his hold. He wanted custom harnesses so people knew that the Fire-Lizards belonged to that lord holder. The girl had been doing well, she hadn't had many interactions with Damian as of late. She had actually been getting better, and she had been getting brighter.
Toath was currently resting, though his problems seemed to be edging off slowly. Probably all his random sleeping was because of his grown form. He was getting pretty big, one of the larger of the browns from the clutch. She was paying more attention to her work, then her dragon... So when Toath bolted off towards the flight taking place, the female all but screamed. Must go... sorry Mine...[/oclor] was all she got from Toath as the males brown form bolted off. The female weyrling was in shock, at the thought that her dragon was chasing.
No... no it couldn't be... this was just as bad as rape... Her dragons lust pounding on her. She took a calming breath and realized, that Toath couldn't help it. He couldn't help what he was doing, or the fact that he was chasing the Jr.Weyrwomans dragon! Oh yeah, that's the least that Meagen needed. She sighed and dragged herself from her work, her fair giving her a questioning look as she just walked out of the room. SHe found the area the riders where gathering and stepped into the throng. Let's hope in the name of Faranth that Toath would drop out quickly.
Toath took flight, he knew he shouldn't but he wanted to try so badly. He wanted to prove to all that he was just as good as any dragon, despite him falling asleep like he had over the last turn. He was just as good as the others, and he was just as worthy of catching the great lilac beauty. This was his first flight, it was his Maiden flight in a sense. He felt sorry for his rider, but that was swept away as the lust pulsed through him. He gave out his cry and pursued the great lilac beauty.

Kelth caught a second beast and blooded it, then lifted her maw to survey the surrounding males. Ekirith was there, of course. She crooned teasingly at the brown who had been her mate for the past few months. Would he catch her again? Next was Wuith, a handsome tan. She was glad to see a tan in her Flight at last. The bronze who arrived soon after seemed very young, but if he could prove himself, he was more than welcome.
The next arrival took her by surprise? A blue? Despite her usually accepting nature, Kelth snorted. She wasn't offended, exactly, but she doubted he could keep up with the larger males. She soon turned her attention to another brown, also young like the bronze, but a fine beast nonetheless.
That was enough! She could wait no longer. With a feral crow, she launched herself off of powerful hindquarters, and with a few hard beast of her wings, was airborne. She sped ahead of the males, trying to get a good head start. The urge to fly away from them was overwhelming. She needed to leave them in the dust, escape their grasping claws.
She did not begin to climb yet, inside focusing on speed for this part of the Flight. Kelth skimmed low as she led the Flight to a grove of trees. Her wingtips almost brushed the branches on the downbeat. Up ahead was a pine tree that towered over the others, and Kelth gracefully veered around its tip, wondering if the males would react quickly enough to do the same.
Shador smiled as the men began to parade into her weyr. Striding up to J'ran, she placed a teasing kiss on his cheek, then sauntered over to L'han, eyeing him speculatively before turning to D'mas. She chuckled. The weyrling wasn't half bad looking himself. Surprise passed across her face when she was I'mny. Wasn't he a bluerider? Grinning, she slipped over to him and put a hand on his chest, toying with his collar. "You think you can catch a Violet, Bluerider?" She said silkily, not angry, just amused. Moving away, she turned to face the next suitor...
and her mouth fell open in pure surprise. A woman? She stared at Meagen. The girl was nice, but Shador didn't want to end up with a female! What was the fun in that? Fortunately, before she could dwell on it, Flightlust took over, and she was looking through Kelth's eyes.

Ekirith, even though Kelth was only teasing, crooned lightly in reply when she let her attentions fall briefly on him. He caught a second beast as she looked over the Tan and other new arrivals. The young dragons he wasn’t too worried about… Bronzes they may be, but they couldn’t have the stamina at their age to catch a queen. Wuith would be trouble though.
And who else came? Ekirith did a quick double take when he saw Tekisith join the group. A Blue? What had been wrong with them lately? A Blue had tried to catch Nayarath, and, not surprisingly, failed. Now another thought it could make a difference? Bah. And why was it all the small ones?
Well, at least they couldn’t do more than cause trouble. Ekirith contentedly returned to his beast, although he still kept a wary eye on Kelth. When would she shoot into the skies? He had to be ready. A second Brown had come, but he was another very young dragon. He had no chance.
And with a loud cry, there she went! Ekirith left his beast and burst into the sky after Kelth as quickly as he could manage. She was flying fast, using her energy to get far, far ahead of the males right now. Ekirith had nearly exhausted himself last time, he wasn’t going to take the same risk now. He didn’t push to keep up with her, but flew at just a slightly faster-than-usual pace. He wouldn’t let her get too far ahead, but he wasn’t going to lose the Flight trying to fly as fast as a Violet in a hurry. There was simply no chance of him managing it.
Luckily, lagging a little behind let Ekirith see the tree before he ran into it. Kelth’s lovely form had been blocking it from his view, but when she ducked so easily around it, he saw it there and was able to adjust his flight to easily avoid the tree. Perhaps he didn’t do it with quite as much finesse as the queen had, but this was only the start of the Flight. He had plenty of time to catch her attention.
J’ran smiled rather goofily, already touched a bit with Ekirith’s Flight lust, when Shador kissed him, a memory from his Brown’s last win flashing briefly through his head. But as quickly as she had approached him, Shador was moving on to look over other competitors. He had to struggle to not to scoff when I’mny entered, he felt just the same about a Blue in the Flight as Ekirith did. It was an insult, and utterly pointless. The others didn’t surprise him much.
Then… a girl? That would be interesting. Of all the stories that went out about Shador, other women were never included. J’ran didn’t linger on the thought long though, instead letting Ekirith take over. He knew who the competitors were… now what mattered was the future winner.

Wuith had draided his beast and tossed it aside without a moment to lose, in the next breath Kelth screaming her challange and taking flight. A familiur and welcoming strength was washing over him, adding to the determination of his lust. He felt near invisable but the flight ahead would be long and test his every attribute. Very few females had he chanced, but if he was nearly good enough for Nayarath then Kelth seemed like a sure catch. Better bite his tongue on that thought....
The fact the violet didn't head straight up like many others only plagued his mind for bearly a moment. She had her reasons but it only stoped them from taking her early in the flight. No neck breaking turns, death defying dives, nothing that would devide the dragons from the weyrlings and indeed they had two in this flight. Wuith was worried, the bronze was another bigger beast and nearly matched Alduth in size. A bronze would not steal another flight from him!
Kelth's avoison of the massive stand-alone pine gave him plenty of warning. Dipping onto his side he swung around the tree almost lazily, he even noticed a slack in his speed. Quickly he corected it, he was being careless!
-_-_-_-_-_-
After near mutalating his beast to lap at its life blood the next few moments sped by in a blur. So quickly he had jumped to rise with her it seemed best to lose himself in instinct and let it guide him through this flight, his very first. Never had he felt so strong, so powerful! It felt great! He didn't even pay any attention to the tan, browns and blue that flew with him after their common goal. Only one of them would win afterall.
He didn't trust the trees one bit, not wanting the branches to snap at his wing tips. The pain and damage he could not afford to sustain, expecially to his wings that carried him. He hanged slightly higher then the rest of them, for they eventually would have to pass through him to eventually turn skywards.
His driving lust however nearly got the best of him. Trying to take the tree dogde at such a high speed nearly sent him flying straight through it. His tail tip whiped through the branches but he refused to show the irritated pain. He was stronger then that over such a small injury. He was a bronze!

Tekisith merely responded to Kelth's snort with a slight smile that touched his jaws, but nothing more. Even the obvious doubt that seemed to have fallen upon his capabilities of keeping up with the gorgeous beauty didn't find hold in his mind as his eyes swirled numerous shades of purple. He no longer worried about such trivial things as doubt; it wouldn't matter in the end. Perhaps the other males that had chosen to join the Flight were capable of more endurance than he was, however, the larger colours didn't possess the speed and agility dragons of his build posessed. He smiled slightly at the thought. Maybe his Rider had more of an effect on him than he thought, after all, he was just as good as any other male.
Tekisith watched as the Violet queen took fight, unfurling his wings and surging into the air much like the other males. Adrenaline surged through his body, his claws clenched in anticipation as he let the winds of the skies take him. He would use the wind currents when he could, to conserve his strength, but he knew that he would be hard pressed to keep up with the dragons that posessed a larger wingspan than his own. Again he seemed to smile. He would deal with such problems when they arose, for now, his eyes were meant to be focused on the beautiful female that was leading. As he watched her veer around a tree, his hopes for the Flight soared. Trees broke up wind currents he could use, but they required agility to maneuver through, something his colour thrived on.
His lust compelled him as he pursued Kelth, the marvelous Kelth, his practiced movements carrying him forward as he called upon the experiences of the years of training he had spent with his Rider since his hatchling days. Experience... another thing he could trust upon to carry him through the Flight, experience, agility, and his determination to show that he was just as worthy to have the queen to grace him with her presence.
He felt the alterations of the wind currents beneath his wings as he passed over the grove of trees, bringing his wings down just enough to keep himself aloft. He saw only Kelth's vivid colouration as he pressed himself forward, his muscles tingling with the sensations of lust. This Flight was more to him now... so much more. It wasn't a mere test, he was such a fool to think such a thing! No, he would show them all that Blues shouldn't be doubted, that it was cruel to deny the Blues the everlasting joy of fatherhood that all their larger bretheren got ti experience!
He took note of the approaching pine, his wings urging him to slow, but he refused. He couldn't fall behind this soon in the flight. Keeping his pace, he suddenly changed the patterns of his wing beats as he came close the bristled fir, forcing one wing up towards the skies as he compelled the other to force air down at the same moment. The dizzying surge of air clashing against hair filled his mind with bliss as he rounded the tree, his small body working to his advantage. There was less weight on his forme to force him off course, a fact that he made sure to make obvious as he once more set his eyes on Kelth, the elegant and graceful Kelth... the males that also pursued her had vanished from his mind, it was just... Kelth.
••••••••••
Despite his usual resilience to avoid the draws of lust and love that he had seen his own dragon compelled by on so many occasions, I'mny couldn't help but feel the effects of FlightLust as the emotions in the creature that was so closely bound to him grew. It was such a marvelous feeling now that he thought of it, and his normally harsh esxpression began to slacken without his notice, his stance succuming to the presence of such an attractive VioletRider. It was a crime that he had never noticed her beauty before. Why hadn't he? Why had he been left in the dark when he was sure so many others had been basking in the light of her radiance.
Her silky tone as she spoke to him caused his mind to whirl in a sea of colours, a sly smile touching his lips in response as he let his last few moments of resistance to the lust drop away. Tekisith's mind was his own now, thus he took no notice of the other men [and the woman] who had come to Shador's Weyr. His eyes were for her only, their ocean blue surfaces glistening with a display of marvel at her beauty and a tenderness that he normally so carefully guarded. Why did he guard it? Why didn't he show how he felt during these moments with the focus of his attentions when he could? It was an endless curse, one that he felt compelled to break.
"Ah, perhaps it may not seem likely, but my sight is blinded to all but you by such radiance you posesses," A momentary flicker of approval came from Tekisith as I'mny responded before the dragons' attentions once more became only for the Flight. It was a fashion of speaking that most would never hear from I'mny under any other circumstance, but here... it just seemed so right.

Toath was glad the violet beauty had not turned him away. He gladly bellowed his joy in allowing to pursue. He was just as worthy as the others there! All his sleeping had been for this, or at least his lust addled mind was making him think. He had slept so much so one day he would have the energy to pursue the violet beauty. There was no losing, he would push himself into exhaustion to win her!
He knew that it was wrong to put his mind in this sort of situation. He knew that she didn't like females. But he had to pursue he HAD to... It burned through him, and like a streak of a shadow, he pursued the violet beauty. He would do his best to win, even against her old mate and the bronze. The blue would be no contestant, he was going to do his best to win!
He swirled after her, doing his best to follow her. He knew he should pace himself even though he wanted to snag her and snag her now. He knew he had to wait, knew she had to chose him. Swept up in the flight lust, nothing else mattered to him.
Meagen stared at the woman, the sheer surprise and horror crossing the young womans features. Not horror at the appearance of Shador, but the flight. Meagen knew, that if she pushed herself hard enough, her mind could become separated from Toaths. It was the way things where happening that she decided to allow them to happen.
Her head tilted back, and she allowed the lust to rush over her. Even though she knew that she would probably regret it later.

Kelth glanced behind her to see if the males had evaded the pine tree. She caught the young bronze fly right through the branches. The others seemed to fare well, especially the agile blue. She eyed him curiously for a moment, admittedly rather impressed by his agility.
Picking up some altitude but keeping up her speed, Kelth began to swerve back and forth in a zigzag pattern, hoping to confuse and tire the males with the her confusing flying. When she grew tired of that, she turned on a wingtip and veered sharply to the left, not giving any warning for the change in direction. She kept up her energetic flight, not feeling tired at all yet. She crooned, goading the males on.
Shador grinned, feeling the exhilaration of flight and speed and being the center of attention. All the males wanted her! She was blind to the human men and woman, seeing only dragons in their place, and she felt like she was with Kelth, beating her powerful wings and cutting through the air.

Although rather surprised by Kelth’s decision to start zig-zagging, a trick he had so far only seen Greens try, Ekirith wasn’t particularly bothered by it. At least his Turns of chasing the infertile females had taught him plenty when it came to things that took any agility at all. It wasn’t confusing… just odd to be coming from a queen.
The sudden turn was a little less surprising than the swerving. Ekirith added a little corkscrew, just in case Kelth was watching, as he twisted after her, but didn’t have much trouble with the sudden change in direction either. The Violet was flying like a Green. Did she want the Blue to catch?
Kelth’s croon distracted Ekirith from those thoughts though. Whatever happened, this was a Violet Flight. Maybe she just wanted to try something new, although imitating the smaller females seemed an extremely odd way to do that. He would follow, impress her, and win.
J’ran, of course, worried by Kelth’s Green-ish actions. He had survived enough of their Flights (Ekirith had chased everything before catching Kelth, anyways) that he knew their tricks… and this was just a little strange. A Blue was chasing and now the queen was acting like her smaller sisters. Even connected with Ekirith, who was simply concentrated on flying and winning, the Brownrider was capable of having his own fears about the outcome. The Blue couldn’t win, but still…

Determined to make up for his embarrassing display with the tree, Kayth tried to focus. Think with his head and not out of lust. One less wing beat and he could have cleared the branches, and now he had to fly with the sting in his tail. The other males were probably laughing at him, Poor, young bronze. Can’t even dodge a tree. Well this flight was far from over! He was the largest beast in this chase and one of the youngest, at least he had that!
For his first chase being a violet’s, he refused to believe he was in over his head. Bronzes chased gold’s, and a green if they felt wanting, a violet shouldn’t be out of the question. Shards! If anyone was out of place here it was the blue! It would just be plain insulting to all if Tekisith won, though he doubted Kelth would let him as long as she had plenty of choice. She was a queen after all, and a blue wouldn’t produce a clutch to be proud of.
Zig-zaging seemed daunting after a near crash, he wasn’t exactly enthusiastic to follow suit like the other males seemed to. Instead he kept a steady flight path, keeping his eyes on the beautiful queen so to always stay pointed in the right direction. When Kelth veered off it only took a second to execute a perfect swerve. Now, he was finally flying!
D’mas had flickered back to his senses very briefly when Kayth nearly ended up second best to a tree. That had been a close one, but the young man hadn’t really been enthusiastic to be in this situation to begin with. Shador had a reputation for being… flirtatious, to put it lightly. Her response to his arrival was actually quite unnerving; did he really want to get caught in that death trap?! Just as quickly as he had been given some independent thought it was sucked away again, back up with Kayth’s hopes and determination.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wuith could have hissed at the annoying browns, Ekirith most of all. They were his biggest competition since Kelth seemed to be thinking she was a green. Tight turns and the still too low attitude was proving very much a strain, only ever flying like this high up in Threadfall or a chase. He expected break-neck dives and straining climbs…
Still he chose to ignore Tekisith, the blue would drop out soon enough. A small dragon had no place in a race with the big boys and queens. During Kelth’s twists and turns Wuith hung back, swaying side to side in an alternating fashion. He may not chase often, quite possibly his biggest downfall, but he was waiting. Not even the most zippy of greens would keep up such a maneuver forever, which meant she would attempt to pull out in a tricky fashion.
As he thought the Violet wasn’t to disappoint and he was right behind. Ekirith was too close for comfort, but it couldn’t be helped. So far there wasn’t much to pull them apart but that could change.
((I just noticed something, both my Riders are the same age >.<))
Toath found the flight was surprising. He had watched greens flying in the same manner. Why was a violet queen flying like a green? It was a little unnerving but he did his best to follow her actions and make his flight as spectacular as possible. He was the toad, that needed the kiss of the princess to turn himself into a prince! He would hope for this princess to give him the kiss needed. He twisted with the others, holding back a little and reserving his energy. He has seen his bondeds little cousin fair doing the same.
He had seen many risings, and had never participated, this was his first rising. He twisted a little, and tried to show off his skills a little. He was good at lazy loops, that actually looked pretty good. He did two of them and then continued unto the flight, crooning out his joy and hope... all his emotions.
Tekisith's eyes swirled happily as he recognized the familiar zigzaging technique. He had seen many a Green use such a technique over the turns he had been of Chasing age, and it put a spur in his spirits as he went to follow the suit. He took note of the fact that the Bronze had chosen to continue his straight path and mentally scoffed; the first real emotion he had even showed to himself about his competition. In his eyes, it was disgraceful to mock the elegance Kelth showed in the flying she performed that was much like that of her younger sisters by directly avoiding following through with it.
Even so, Tekisith was momentarily wary. If he followed through with the zigzaging pattern himself it would most likely put a strain on his muscles. While he had frequently imitated the smaller Greens in the past, they typically tired much faster than the larger Violet. Even so... he couldn't become a hypocrite to his own thoughts about the Bronze that had ignored the flight pattern. He tensed his muscles. He would follow through, even if it meant he would have to force himself to continue flying until he reached the absolute limit of his capabilities. It was now, or never.
Entering into the pattern wasn't bad, having coasted into a more diagnol pattern with the winds guiding his beating wings, but the air currents would be little help when it came to the sharp turns at the pinnacle of each diagnol. He slammed his wings down against the forces that were pulling him to continue his straight flight, feeling his muscles protesting against his movements as he arched his, folding his hind legs against the base of his tail and tucking his forelegs against his belly to give himself a more streamlined appearance. His violet eyes flashed as they fell on Kelth again. Her beauty... even if he was the smallest male here, his wanting kept his adrenaline flowing. Though it wouldn't last forever, he knew full well that if he wanted even a chance of lasting through this Flight he would be forcing himself at the end.
Once more his muscles protested as he brought them down against the next turn, his muscles tensing beneath his skin as he clenched his claws together. He swung his head around just in time to glimpse Brown Ekirith's corkscrew, eyes narrowing slightly. Browns were just one size larger than Blues like himself [and were even a duller colour at that, who could truthfully say that a blue wasn't a more magnificent shade than brown], yet he knew for a fact they were considered a higher rank than their Blue brothers. Well, he would show that his colour was just as great as a Brown.
Once more he brought his wings down, urging himself to follow Kelth's sudden turn as his muscles began to shout at him to cease such flying. Then, he stopped beating them, suddenly snapping them to his sides as he allowed himself to drop into a dive.
••••••••••
For a moment, I'mny mentally panicked. Had Tekisith just lost the energy to continue going? Dread swirled in his mind, only for the feelings to be interrupted by the Blue's calming intrusion upon it, pulling the Bluerider into the full scale of the emotions the dragon was feeling as the winds whistled past. It had been planned, then? The Rider relaxed slightly. The sudden technique wasn't something I'mny would have suggested, particularly with the strain it would put on the Blue's muscles so early on in the Flight, but, Tekisith was in control, not him. No... I'mny just allowed his ocean blue sights to return to the beautiful Violetrider who's radiance beckoned him to gaze onward with a combination of lust and awe at her beauty.
••••••••••
Tekisith snapped his wings out suddenly, wincing as the force of gravity tried to pull him downward while the skies beckoned him back towards the flying dragons as he coasted into a swooping glide. He beat his wings, his muscles searing as he began to lift into the air again, but he kept his expression clear even while he clenched his teeth with the effort. He lifted his body upwards, back to the level of the Flight as once more his muscles protested his efforts. Kelth... beautiful Kelth... this strain, this fatigue, it was all for her, and he finally allowed his cries to ring out.
Queen of Violet Sunrise, I would force my wings to beat for a hundred miles just to have you bless my sights for a mere moment with your twilit radiance! He kept his swirling gaze fixed on her, trying his best to ignore the dull ache that plagued his wings as he forced them downward again. He wouldn't show his weakness... not yet.
xx o o c. Lol, I apologize for how long my posts are xD It's sorta a habit of mine to put as much feeling as possible into things like this ^^; And that's funny, Jenth xD
Ekirith was flying well, showing off his agility with twists and turns that nearly matched her own. Steady Wuith was keeping up, and even the two weyrlings were holding their own. She saw Tekisith drop out, and she wasn't surprised. Then, she heard his flattering words and realized he was still trying. She was flattered, but also amused. What a brave but silly blue, trying to chase her!
Finally, here was the endurance. Kelth was a Violet, possessing the agility of a smaller dragon, but also the strength of a Queen. Growing tired of her tricks, she began to fly straight, her wingbeats keeping her level. She waited for just the right moment, then tucked her wings in and plummeted towards the ground. A few dragonlengths from the ground, she snapped her wings open and began to rise again. It was a classic maneuver, but one that never failed to challenge the males.
Now, the climb began. Beating her wings steadily, she pointed herself upwards. She needed height for a good clutch, and instinct drove her to get as much altitude as she could before choosing the victor.
Ah, finally! Here was the Flight Ekirith was expecting. There would be tricks, but no reason to waste energy with just agility. They still weren't flying particularly high, but that would change before long. The longer they went like this though, the longer Ekirith knew he would last. The altitudes Kelth had flown, however briefly, at in her first Flight had definitely been hard on the Brown. Although the Green-ish touch to the start of the Flight had surprised him, it was something Ekirith was used to and almost found himself preferring now that they were pulling out of it.
But of course, it was plenty worth it to prove to these Bronzes and Tans that a Brown was also capable of chasing a queen. He had beaten a Bronze last time, something he hadn't ever really imagined would happen (of course, he hadn't really ever planned on chasing a queen either) in his wildest dreams. It felt good to know he had... and now he had a chance to do it again, and he wasn't going to waste it.
Then Kelth had to plunge, the sudden change in direction breaking Ekirith from his cheerful little moment of thinking. Down! He struggled to follow just as sharply, but moving so quickly after only just snapping back to attention... well, it didn't quite work. He had maybe just managed to streamline his body, align his dive, when Kelth soared upwards again.
And she didn't stop moving up. Ekirith ground his teeth and twisted messily- this was no way at all to show off to a lady- out of his dive. Then he just pushed as hard as he could with each wingstroke, gaining altitude but not at the speed he would have liked. He had taken it easy at the start... and now was having trouble snapping into win mode.
Wuith waited a few moments as Kelth's flight patterns evened. With more and more power placed in each wing stroke he knew that these green-ish tricks were at an end, and he couldn't be more grateful! Till now his actions had been quite sluggish, he knew it and Kelth probably knew it too, but now he could finally fly the way he was meant to; with all the power and speed his body possessed!
The adrenaline was really starting to pump through his body, giving him an almost tingling sensation. Yes! He must catch this violet beauty of a prize! She would only be wasted on the likes of yet the same, dull and lowly brown that had produced two duds. If he was thinking he was trying to smooth over his past failure with a second attempt, he was in for a fierce fight and a disappointing wake up call.
Mirroring Kelth's dive with practiced precision and pulling out with ease, his movements flowed gracefully even after the previous events of this flight. No twists, nothing fancy, just raw power and dedication to his pursuit. Nothing mattered but that which was just out of their reach, taunting them with the fact that only one would claim her and as of yet they did not know whom it would be. Kelth was not ready to make her choice yet but the time was soon and drawing closer…
His time to act was now! He felt it in his very bones, pushing himself to take advantage of the scenario he had been waiting for. Agility had never really been his thing, in fact he would clearly be lying if he didn’t admit he was actually quite clumsy. He had already proven that…
Tekisith was out, no surprises there, and with Ekirith’s faltering the young bronze was making up for a lot of ground and was now flying within the group. True, his recovery on the dive could have been cleaner but you couldn’t argue with results. It was much better then crashing face first into the ground. Never did he doubt he was without a fighting chance yet. Infact he was nearly in line with tan Wuith, but he did not wish to contemplate his blessed luck.
Driven by every pulse in his body he pushed himself to his limits, to fly ever faster and beat the competition! This was where his genetic traits gave him an edge unlike before. Since his initial brush with near disaster he had wisened up, and more importantly was flying better then ever. Kelth would be a good match for him undoubtedly, and he would certainly not disappoint her.
Toath was a little surprised as the antics ended. But now the real test came, could he last it? Could he! He knew he would try, he would try. Because this is what he needed, this is what he CRAVED! The brown, that was almost a shadow on the ground, now rose as a shadow in the air. He followed the other males, and the violet beauty. Up, up, up... And then they plunged. He crooned out his call of lust and love to the violet beauty as they plunged. He had done this a few times in play flights, with his bonded. They both liked the thrill of the sudden drops.
With that he followed suit, his muscles straining as he snapped open his sails... It would be absolutely wonderful to catch her. But he was wondering if he would ever be so lucky. He knew that Meagen was twined with him, mind and spirit at the moment. She was writhing with the others, reaching out and touching Shador. Just light brushings, nothing too much. He knew that if he didn't catch the violet beauty, Meagen would end up with one of the other losing dragons... male bondeds. Since Meagen was the only other female asides from Shador.
Kelth pushed herself to the limit, instinct driving her to fly high and far. Her wings burned, and her breathing grew more labored as they flew into thinner air. It was time to choose! She stopped her climb, hovering now as she surveyed the males. Toath and Kayth had both flown well, but she didn't want to pick such a young dragon. She crooned apologetically to them before turning her sights to Wuith and Ekirith.
Ekirith had been a good mate and companion during the past few months, but Wuith had impressed her in this Flight. Violet and Tan belonged together. Eyes whirling a violet as brilliant as her hide, Kelth extended her neck to Wuith, ready to let him support their fall.
On the ground, Shador only had eyes for J'ran and L'han as her dragon decided who she would choose. When Kelth made her choice, Shador stepped towards L'han, her seductive smile for the Tan rider only. She wrapped her arms around his waist, turning her face up to his. "I'm yours..."
