That argument is like saying Liansk and Lyask aren't similar. And Alaska hasn't been on in ages, I doubt Piyor and Pisk are going to be used. I'm going with Parisk. When Pari very rarely uses Japarill, it makes a heck of a lot more sense to me to have his wher's name take after the name it's bonded uses.

True, but Lyask isn't in this clutch which was my arguement. And to go into this arguement would be to debate over any handlers who's name start with that same letter.
But you said it yourself, if the human doesn't use his real name then the extention (Japarill) pretty much becomes null and void. I can not recall in any of the books wherhandlers even having nicknames to call upon for guidence in this delemma. Pari is not[/b] Japarill's real name so I can only say that his wher would not follow through with calling herself Parisk if her handler goes by another name. The first post in this thread you wrote started with 'Japarill' but ever since has been Pari. Japarill was the candidate name you entered so you need to make up your mind what your character's name is!
Is his name Japarill or is he changing it to Pari from now on?![/i]
You can not have both names if you only intend to use one and it is making a big deal of an easily fixed problem.
Danil's wher was Dask Kindan's wher was Kisk Nuella's wher was Nuelsk
If you want Parisk then her handlers name is Pari, not Japarill. Its your decision to change it which is perfectly acceptable in such a situation as this. It is life changing after all and Riders do it to a similar extent

Most people do call him Pari, which is why I want the change. =P I really don't know of any characters that call him Japarill, unless Itunas or Sabre want to.

They might have for formility reasons but now I doubt they will because of his wher. We'll say it was Parisk who confirmed the name change for story line purposes. But other then that we're good! ^^

A few changes, mostly aesthetic. And it seems I must mediate.
Gorrian to brown Gorrisk Japarill to green Parisk Silia to blue Silisk Korrik to green Korsk Roksana to green Roksk Chloee to brown Chloesk Lianly to blue Liask Piyor to bronze Piyosk Shiane to brown Shiask
I have absolutely no problem using a nickname. Anne says that whers have extremely limited mental capabilities, but that's mostly just a framework I work from. Like Jenth said, we don't have a precedent to draw from in the matter of nicknames, but that shouldn't really matter. Most of this is from our imaginations, anyways, right?
I don't think Japarill would have to change his name permanantly. Come on guys, this is Pern, not America. Have a little fun!
*muse* I almost wish I'd gone with the original list, and turned Liask into a barred. A barred wher...very striking.

=P Although you could probably talk Nick into it, Sparrow wouldn't agree to a Barred wher so the idea wouldn't have worked.
Thanks for finally getting the Parisk thing cleared up though Friar. And it'll be nice having you back!

Liask was going to be barred? I don't think I mind either way really, but I still preffer the 'n' being in the name since he's a blue. Sounds more masculine

She couldn't have been a Barred, Friar isn't in charge of new colors in the site, even with whers. -.-
And I think Liask should have the n... unless the name is pronounced lie-ask, then it's exactly the same pronunciation as Lyask. =P (I always do i's with vowels after them like ee's... if that's wrong, then I guess that the problem is solved *brick'd*)
