Gwen stepped back a little as the blue barreled over to Rosalind, that one wasn't stopping for anyone.
She stepped back again when Iosif got slashed. This clutch seemed to be throwing barreds instead of greens...no, that was a green.
Nope. Another barred. And one of the barreds had picked a guy. Huuh.

Rosalind didn't get an answer, as at that moment, a few eggs cracked open. A blue, a very clumsy blue that made her giggle, and a barred. Both seemed to know where they were going, though the blue did nearly knock Cerri over, which made Rosalind turn to help before becoming distracted.
Miiiine! Won't you feed your Bacchuth so we can go do more exciting things? Who's was that voice, Rosalind blinked rapidly, glancing at the dark blue dragonet for a long moment. Marvelling at the love and protectiveness that swirled through her. Squealing happily, Rosalind threw her arms around the dragonet, making the blue croon in amusement as Rosalind hid her face against his neck. "My Bacchuth." She whispered, calm for the first time in a long time. Yours. RosieMine, I'm hungrrrry. Feed me pleeease. I like your cuddles, but I'm hungry and I want to do something fun!
Rosalind nodded happily, clapping her hands excitedly as she bounced to her feet. Singing her Bacchuth's name as she skipped to the feeding tables. Bacchuth, amusement swirling in his eyes, followed as quickly as his clumsy feet would allow, though it wasn't unusual to hear him squawk and then Rosalind's silvery laughter following it as she bounced up beside Cerri and practically pounced on the other girl. "Congrats! She's so pretty! I'm so happy you Impressed, this is Bacchuth! Isn't he just adorable, what's her name? She's so beautiful." Then what am I RosieMine? "Most handsome blue on Pern."

Rasimal's breath had caught in his throat as the egg he had wanted so dear to hatch his partner hatched a Barred. He had been so sure that a mighty Brown, Tan or maybe even Bronze hid within the hard shells. Jays! He would have been happy if he got Blue! Actually nealry all his favored eggs had hatched out just the sort of hatchlings he had longed for, but alas they sought out someone else. As long as his dragon partner wasn't female, that was the last thing he wanted...
When the barred had come towards him where the males stood a dreaded fear started to grip at every fiber of his being. Oh please no!!! It's bad enough I almost look like the girls, I need a masculine dragon! He screamed in his head. ALl the mounting fear disappeared instently into ice cold relief as she walked right on by a little way for Kendric, now K'ric...
6 eggs hatched, 7 to go. This was the halfway point and the genders of both male and dragons ho had impressed was even so far. Where are you, my little dragon? I am waiting for you

K'dricmine, Minervath didn't see you there!
Wha-? Kendric refocused his eyes on the little dragonet. He had Impressed a...barred? What the crud? He Impressed a female! This could be very, very bad.
What's wrong, K'dricmine? Did Minervath do something bad?
She was starting to panic. What if Hers didn't like her?
Please don't worry! I just...I never expected to Impress!
The little barred seemed to give him a patronizing glare, and answered acidly, Well, you did! You Impressed Minervath!
"Are you hungry, Minervath?"
He wrapped his long arms around her, and hugged her.
Minervath could do with some food. Take Minervath to food, please, K'dricmine?
"Gladly, my heart."
The tall young man led his dainty beauty to the edge of the Sands, where people waited to give him food. As he accepted a bowl of meat chunk, one of the men winked at him, and he felt his face turn bright red.
Why has K'dricmine's face turned a funny color? Is K'dricmine sick?
K'dric shook his head mutely, offering his little beauty meat without saying anything.

((That was a brown from the Steel Egg, not a blue. My bad.))
The brown continued to stalk back and forth in front of the male candidates, as if none of them were good enough for him. Finally, he stopped in front of Rasimal. He studied the boy for a moment before speaking. Aresth is hungry. Feed me now, he said, his tone distinctly grumpy despite the fact that he had just Impressed.
The Rain Egg and the Fire Egg hatched at almost the same time, the Rain Egg hatching a Blue and the Fire Egg a Tan. The Tan creeled as he tumbled onto the sands, and as he righted himself, you could see that his right foreleg was twisted. The Blue shook his head and gave the Tan an encouraging push, then pranced off to the male candidates, finding his rider right away in Iosif. I'sifmine, you're lucky to have the best dragon on the sands, your Zeuth. Now, will you feed me?
The Tan hesitantly limped towards the boys, watching them curiously. He wasn't sure who he wanted yet.

Steel Egg Name: Aresth Color: Brown Size: 34 Meters Appearance: Aresth is a very odd Brown. Medium-sized, he has a regular coloring for a Brown except on his back where there are lighter striped that go slightly over the side of the dragon's back. Aresth's wings are smaller than normal, but they still allow him great feats and agility in the air. Personality: Aresth has anger management problems. Everything ticks him off, from a trundlebug crossing his path to having to wake up early to having to do something he doesn’t like in weyrling training. He is famous for his temper tantrums, when he yells and complains and makes a big show of how loud he can roar. He is also rather antisocial, and he is very easily annoyed by other dragons. Even the little things they do get on his nerves. He has no problem with making it known, either, and most of the other dragons will be afraid of his tirades in case they get insulted somewhere in there. Inspiration: Ares, god of war, battlelust, and manly courage. He had an affair with Aphrodite but was caught by Hephaestus. Color Code: 694621
Rain Egg Name: Zeuth Color: Blue Size: 30 Meters Appearance: Large for a blue, Zeuth has a strong, bulky build, and he will be a strong flyer with more endurance than most of his color. His hide is almost entirely a deep, navy blue, but he has a streak of sky blue on his left shoulder that looks a little bit like a lightning bolt. Personality: Zeuth is a very cocky dragon. He has an extremely high opinion of himself, and he thinks he’s the best at everything. He loves to show off in any way possible, and he will always try to draw attention to himself in weyrling lessons. The thing is, he’s actually pretty good at some things, and he will turn out to be a great flyer. He’s arrogant, but not mean, and he has a sort of charisma about him. He will make friends and earn admirers easily. Zeuth also has a weakness for female dragons, and he will flirt with any green or barred dragon. He has a bit of a committment problem and it will take a strong female to hold him down! Inspiration: Zeus, king of the gods, known for his infidelity with mortal women. Color Code: midnightblue or 191970

Cerridwen laughed softly as the other female started talking a mile a minute again. "It's alright Rosa... just slow down please, I'm not on one of my fast days."She said lightly as she stroked Venuth's hide. The pretty little barred was her life partner now, forever and ever and ever. Green eyes danced with tears of happiness, as she wiped her hand over her face. Smearing blood on it from when she was feeding her little barred. She laughed softly and then her attention up towards the stands. Her lips pulled into a bright smile, she knew that J'reth might not bee too happy about her impression, in some aspects. But she had impressed, and truthfully it had been the color she had been seeking!
Nixsha cursed suddenly, as her little bronze Cling, swung on her braid. Numbweed trilled at the impressions and took to the ledges. With the fair that the weyrling Meagen possessed. Felis and Juice where close behind him, followed by Klah. She gave a barking laugh, as she shook her head and sighed, untangling cling from her braid. "Silly thing..." She siad as she watched the procession. This time she wouldn't run in, unless it was a dire need for her. She kept her mind open, listening for any signs of distress with the hatchlings.

Rasimal nearly didn't see the brown, the hatchling that had come and gone. Well he had seemed more to stamp his feet into the sands. The red-head had found himself starring back at the brown, who only starred back. No Impression had been made, so there was no way to know what was going on.
Aresth is hungry. Feed me now
R'mal heard it, but was that it? It didn't seem at all that amazing, really. Have you got a problem with me?! Feed me now!
R'mal almost jumped on the spot as he lead the way off the sands to feed his brown Aresth. He had Impressed a fine brown! A grumpy one he would admit but what was wrong with a little personality? The slight lack of awarness was all it took, the few seconds off unsurveillence saw Aresth forcefully barge into Zeuth's side.
"Aresth!!!"
He was in my way!

Iosif watched the eggs hatch happily, but the sick ball of nervousness in his gut was quickly making itself known. He clapped as first one, then a whole bunch of babies Impressed, grinning at Kendric's expression when he Impressed a Barred. Who would have thought it; Kendric was probably one of the most masculine-acting candidates he knew, so his Impressing a glorified Green was quite odd.
The brown hatchling was stopping before him and Iosif froze, barely remembering to breathe. Then the baby was growling, swiping at him and Iosif was just a bit too slow in getting out of the way, the brown's talons catching on the white robe and leaving shallow scratches on his thigh, white cloth ripping easily.
Cursing under his breath, Iosif grabbed the split ends of the cloth, bunching them together with a shaking hand. It was just his luck to be the only candidate to get hurt!
I'sifmine, you're lucky to have the best dragon on the sands, your Zeuth. Now, will you feed me?
The voice was in his head before he knew it and Iosif looked up from the sand, eyes meeting his Zeuth's swirling faceted ones steadily. Before he could stop it, he was shaking harder, and a rough, grating laugh was spilling from his mouth.
"O-of course I'll f-feed you!"
Gentle fingers traced the lightening shaped blue streak that adorned Zeuth's shoulder, working their way up to rub at the blue's eye ridges. Zeuth crooned, then pulled back, giving Iosif a look that said volumes as the blue led His over to the feeding station. He hissed at the brown that had bumped into him, but food was what was needed most at the moment. Lining out the brown hatchling could wait until later.
Taking a bowl, Iosif --I'sif now--began to feed Zeuth, careful to not gorge the blue too much. Grinning, I'sif tapped K'dric on the shoulder, saying, "Feel special? You are the only male a Barred has Impressed to date."
Zeuth peered at Minervath, warbling a greeting to his Barred clutchsister. You are very beautiful; the most beautiful Barred I've seen so far.

((This is going to be crazy short because I need to take the dog on a walk.))
Reiver ran to the hatching grounds, bumping into stranger and beast as adrenaline coursed through his veins. He felt a breeze by his ears and heard the fluttering of wings beside him, a tangle of tan and green flew beside him. His firelizards.
He multitasked, worrying about being left at the sands again, whether Kelth would make his flitters a snack, and how dang late he was. The Spice chirruped nervously, and clung onto his shoulders, now growing tired of flying, while Herb haughtily tossed her head at her brother and zoomed beside her bonded.
Reiver ran his hand clumisly through his dreadloched hair before entering onto the heat of the sands once more. Perhaps this would be the final time. 'Perhaps, I pray' he whispered.
He mentally urged the two flitters back, and the crooned bitterly as the perched besideone an other on a piece of jutting rock. Perfect for spying on what their boy was up too.
And what a thing he was up to indeed, he bowed to the clutchmother and smiled as pleasantly as he could muster through swallowing perspiration and bile in his throat. He lingered back to the semi-cirle of boys. He was not interested, through the course of the hatching, of the running commentary of what impressed to who. He worried [and not to mentioned sweated bullets.]

Kelth snorted her displeasure at Reiver's tardiness, snapping at his fire lizards more for their owner's sake than anything. Her anger subsided when she saw the remaining Tan turn tail and run right for Reiver almost as soon as he stepped into place.
The Tan made an almost comical picture as he hastily limped across the sands. He clumsily made his way to Reiver, nudging the boy and pushing his snout into his white robe. R'vermine, why were you late? Your Hephaestuth is hungry!
Just as the Tan Impressed, the Peacock and Harp eggs hatched simultaneously, both into greens. The larger green, from the Peacock egg, growled at her sister, a bright lime green. She strutted across to the candidates and Impressed. The lime green cocked her head, confused, and then hurried to choose her own candidate.
Kelth nudged the two remaining eggs and crooned sadly. They would not hatch. Ekirith, help me take these two between. She picked up the Patchwork Egg, leaving the Water Egg for her mate, and vanished between.
((The end! Congrats to the new weyrlings. The two greens are adoptables.))

Fire Egg Name: Hephaestuth Color: Tan Size: 36 Meters Appearance: Hephaestuth’s hide is a dark shade of tan, swirled everywhere with smudges of cream. He has a smattering of lighter spots on his side, almost like freckles. Hephaestuth has a strong, bulky build, and he would be perfect if not for his right foreleg, which is twisted and stunted. The leg will give him a limp on the ground, but he will have no problems in the air. Personality: Hephaestuth is a quiet, reserved dragon. He has a good heart, and he is a good friend to have in need. He is very dependable and he will always get the job done, no matter what is asked of him. Despite his twisted leg, he is not a complainer, and he will reprimand any dragon who whines about a situation. Hephaestuth is a peacemaker, and he hates to see people or dragons fighting. He is always willing to step in as a referee if there is an argument going on. Inspiration: Hephaestus, God of the Forge and Aphrodite's husband Color Code: burlywood or DEB887

Ekirith was disappointed to see two duds in the clutch he had fathered. It happened, he knew, but the Gold's clutch had no duds. Perhaps it was just because it was the first clutch ever for a Violet dragon? The Weyrwoman's fire-lizard had also had eggs left unhatched, hadn't it?
He circled down from the heights, more or less ignoring the comfort J'ran gave him. Many eggs had hatched, with more Barreds and Tans too. No Bronzes... Ekirith sniffed lightly at the water egg, then gathered it in a forepaw and took off again, only flying for a moment before disappearing to drop the egg between.

K'dric- not even joking- growled at Iosif, now I'sif.
"I swear, the first gay joke I hear, I'ma flatten someone, y'hear me?"
K'dric was not a man given to violence, but he could tell his temper was in for some serious testing. Not that he would give his Minervath up for anything, not now, but...stilll...!
Why is K'dricMine so sad?
K'dric apologized to Minervath wordlessly, stroking her eyeridge affectionately.
"What's your blue named?" he asked, to change the subject.

I'sif took a step back when K'dric growled at him, but was stopped short when Zeuth's head butted into his back. The blue let out an irritated growl, fixing a yellow-green eye on K'dric.
Why aren't you doing something, I'sifmine?! He's threatening you!
The blue moved around his bonded to take up a protective position between the two young men, still watching K'dric closely. There's no need to be annoyed; K'dric isn't going to flatten me.
Not while I'm around he isn't!
The blue snorted in indignation, but calmed somewhat. I'sif smiled, hand rubbing Zeuth's neck. "This is Zeuth." He blushed, paused and finally admitted. "I'm afraid Zeuth has taken to yours." I'sif quickly added, "I'm certain it won't last; he'll see another green and yours will be forgotten."
