As dawn spread her fingertips of rose over Nyocia Weyr, Shador was curled up asleep in an alcove of the Hatching Grounds. She had come to visit Kelth last night and ended up dozing off. Kelth's surprised bugle woke her.
An egg bit me!
Yawning, Shador sat up. She was used to Kelth's broodiness and oddities by now. "Really? It must be hungry." She stood and went down to the sands. "Which one?"
There... She indicated the Moon Egg with her tail. There was a crack forming along one side. Kelth bugled again, this time loud enough to wake the whole weyr. HATCHING!
As Kelth started humming, Shador hid behind the Violet. She had just woken up! She wasn't presentable at all, and the whole Weyr was going to be here in a few minutes!

Meagen mine, wake up the hatching is at hand... the browns sleepy mental voice reached her. Meagen bolted from bed at that, throwing on her clothing rather haphazardly, and running towards Toath. You go love, and get to the dragon ledges where you can hum... She said to her partner, scratching his eyeridge lightly, and then running like hell to the place where she would sit and watch the hatching. So thus Toath joined the humming, and Meagen joined the Weyrling's that would soon be seated.
Nixsha, was at least presentable this time. In fact the prior afternoon, someone had snuck felis juice into her mug of klah. She was out like a light, until the mental call went out. She woke up, stretching faintly, making her living blanket of fire-lizards creel at her piteously. They didn't want to get up! Cling and Klah gave a snort as they nudged the others away. Felis, and Juice shaking themselves off as Numbweed gave a snoring sound. She picked up the firelizard and put him in the crook of her arm.
She gathered her waist pouches and put them back on, glad to feel teh familiar weight. She was wearing a semi-decent healers tunic now. She pulled on some leggings and put on her boots. She knew her hair was still in its braid, if it only looked a little frazzled. Then she took off towards the Hatching sands, to stand and wait for any injuries. The last hatching she had to fix a few, and this one there would probably be a few as well.
Cerridwen, felt not at all presentable. She had to rush from J'reth's quarters, Throwing on her tunic as she ran. As soon as she got into her room, the brush was dragged through her hair as fast as she could. She snapped it up and tied it up with a piece of leather, and then pulled out her candidate robes. She threw that over her head, and belted them quickly with a simple silver twine. With that she slipped on her sandals, and hauled ass out unto the hatching sands.
She hurt, she was sore, but she couldn't miss the hatching. She hated having to tear away from J'reth like that, the man was amazing. She even found herself getting more then just physically attracted to him. She took in a shaky breath as she stood before the eggs, hands folded in the small of her back. She shifted and bowed to the queen, before standing where the candidates had been dictated to.

Salise jumped at the sound of a dragon's bugle. What? Hatching? It took a few moments for that to make sense in her sleep-numbed brain. But finally the word dawned, along with the rising hum around the Weyr. Hatching! The dragon eggs! She scrabbled out of bed and threw on the white robe, followed by the sandals she was quite sure wouldn't protect her against the heat of the sands. Why did Candidates have to wear this?
Her sandals flapped against her heals as Salise hurried through hallways and out to the Hatching Sands. She was nervous, yes, but also excited. It hadn't been long ago she had been in to touch the eggs... and now they were hatching! Would she Impress? All the Candidates were probably wondering that.
Panting, Salise paused at the edge of the Sands and bowed to Kelth. She couldn't think of anything to say and couldn't remember if there was something she was supposed to say... hopefully there wasn't. So, Salise straightened again and headed out onto the Sands, her eyes on the eggs. Which would hatch first? The Moon egg looked ready to, but others were shaking.
~~~
Tirasha wouldn't be late this time. She followed the crowd of other people, all rushing to the Sands... but they all went to the stands. Tirasha entered a side door and stood near the food tables, ready to help if the dragonets caused injury to anyone. Tianthe, again, had disappeared for the Hatching, but Willow was on her shoulder, humming but ready to help.
Her flitts would surely be much better than Nixsha's young horde; they were old and trained. Willow would even help the Masterhealer if she asked. Not that Tirasha would mentally approve of that, she still didn't like Nixsha. But there was little to do about that... soon enough, they'd have work to do if things turned out as they had at Nayarath's hatching.
Oh Faranth! Brecan was not going to be able to get breakfast! Worried he might faint from hunger on the Sands, he nibbled at a stashed dinner roll as he got into his robes. Guess, excited, circled his head, evicted from first one shoulder, and then the other. He only permitted the brown to alight once he was presentable. A quick comb through his hair, footwear on, and he was making his way onto the Sands.
"It could have been worse," he mentioned to the other candidates as he bowed to the violet. "It's not -quite- the middle of the night."
There weren't that many candidates. Or that many eggs. The short boy joined the circle. Guess started to join the hum to welcome the little ones.
--
How did she do it? Somehow, despite the fact that it was so sharding early, Gwenduinne's hair was in place, the robe secured at her waist with a rope belt to make it look less shapeless. Her footwear was clean and even the barred firelizard that accompanied her shone. She must have oiled her last night, surely.
Yeah, there was no way she could have got ready in time unless she had made an effort to always be ready. She did not bow to the violet, no, she offered her a graceful curtsey before moving off to one side. No, she was not putting herself forward. Not unless that rocking egg showed a hint of purple within.
Then she might.
Firelea pulled on his robes on the run and almost tripped on the turf change from ground to sand." shar...." he shouted slapping himself over the mouth to prevent the curse from finishing. he stood over by the egg's hoping, praying that he impressed. please h please let me impress, I don't care what it looks like, I need a friend. oh please please. he stood thinking that he was going to fail.
then he saw all the people he had met over his time here at Nyocia weyr, his friends. "I will stad tall for you guys, and for you dad." whispering his oath to himself repeatedly he almost forgot the egg's! he wondered what was there but he didn't care.
Upon Kelth bugling loudly, Rosalind promptly yelped and sat up, making Kitty hiss softly at being woken. Rosalind, ever quick to wake up, grinned and rubbed her ears, all the while wondering what the shards had woken her up? And what was that- Eek! Hatching! Upon realising what the humming that seemed to fill her head was, Rosalind scrambled out of the furs.
She was going to be late, she just knew it, she was always late or too early. That was annoying, oh but she didn't want to be late to the hatching. She wanted to see the eggs hatching, wanted to see what would come from them, wanted to see what would happen. Robes. Okay, white, no not that one, not there either. Where the sharding- Oh, there it was, nice and neat on top. No wonder she couldn't find it. Sheesh. What silly person would put her robes on top?
Sandals were next, they were fairly easy to fiund considering she tripped over them. The hard part was getting them on the right feet in her excitement, oh nevermind! She'd just leave them on the wrong feet. Brushing her hais back quickly with her fingers, Roslaind turned to pet Kitty. "Stay." She mumbled, before rushing out of the barracks.
Hatchinghatchinghatchinghatching! It was impossible to stay still, like on the Touching, Rosalind shifted from foot to foot, not caring that her robe was on backwards and shoes on the wrong feet, she was just excited to be there. Bowing to both Kelth and Shador, Rosalind couldn't help but grin brightly, moving of and then pausing. Was she supposed to bow deeper on the hatching? She'd better bow again just to make sure. And third time lucky.
After bowing the third time - wow she really was nervous - Rosalind practically bounced to stand next to Cerridwen, and then, the chatting began. "Oh, wow! Look at that egg, that's the moon egg I think, do you think that one will hatch first or do you reckon another one will, I'm excited, I can't keep still. The sands are really hot, i never noticed before, gosh this is reallynew and exciting and are youexcited? I'm so excited. Really nervous too though, I didn't thinkeveryonewould be there, you know? I mean I don't think I thought about hatchingmuch, do you think you'llImpress, i think so. I mean I think that you'll Impress, i don't think I will, I think, well mama-" Breaking off as she ran out of air, Rosalind didn't even seem to notice that she'd been talking at breakneck speed and that her words had run together.
(The others are there, but this turned out longer than I thought, ssoooo i'm just gonna leave it xD)
Iosif groaned, rolling over tiredly as Kelth's loud bugle sounded. Then he bolted awake when her commanding voice broke through the haze of sleep, promptly followed by another bugle.
Sleepiness gone, excitement began to replace it. Grabbing the white tunic he had been given, Iosif tugged it over his head, belting it securely and putting on the flimsy sandals as he opened the door quietly; slipping out so as not to disturb Kendric.
When he arrived, the Moon Egg was already beginning to hatch, cracks forming along its shiny surface. Bowing to the Violet, he smiled to himself. Today was the day!
Rasimal found himself tripping over his own feet more then once scrambling to race back to the candidate barracks to grab his white hatching gown. The final insult had been when the thin material snagged on his way out the door and in his 'dance' to avoid tearing the preicious garment and found his face meeting the solid stone walls. "SON OF A WHERRY!!!" the young red head screamed, rubbing the reddened skin of his forehead but there was no time for this. He had to get moving!!!
The eggs were only shacking, some more violently then others but not a single crack yet. His feet dug slightly into the sand in hopes that the sands were cooler without much luck. Please hatch little ones, these sands burn!!!
Kendric "Besha, you gotta stay put!"Kendric was trying to convince his canine to stay in the Candidate's Barracks, so that he wouldn't scare the hatchlings. Besha curled up on Kendric's bed, and put his head on his paws. He stared accusingly at his master, putting every advantage he had due to puppy-eyes."Don't be like that, Besha! Hatching won't take long!" Kendric threw his candidate's tunic on, forgetting that he was still wearing his pants. His shoulders strained the thin material, and was actually quite uncomfortable. If he wasn't careful, he'd wind up ripping it before the Hatching was done. He took off running, hoping that he'd be in time for the first egg to crack. _~_ J'reth Chirrup?Easy, little brother. J'reth, Ludo says 'pet' is nervous. J'reth chuckled, recognizing Ludo's designation of Cerri. He entered the Stands, waving as he passed Cerri, hoping to catch her eye. ((I'dd throw in Ket later...don't feel like it right now!))
Cerridwen stood silently as she waited, her hands twitching faintly as she stared at the other girl that had come up beside her. Her cheeks flamed with twin flags of embarrassment at the other female. She could talk, and talk a lot... She stroked her fingers along Ludo's neck. He was stretched out on her shoulders now, hiding and nibbling on her braid a little. The brown was a comfort, a great comfort. She would calm down, and soon... hopefully.
"Yes its the moon egg, Rosa... The sand are indeed hot, thats so the eggs can harden properly. You didn't notice probably because you are a little on the hyper side." She said calmly, calmly... wow that was a change... Cerri usually would be right alongside Rosa in hyperness. But somehow the ... events from last night, had mellowed her a little. "I am nervous as well, and I can tell you are. I hope I impress, and I am sure you will as well..." She said lightly. Her head turned as she looked in the direction of the male waving to her.
She discreetly gave him a wink, and waved back. Joy shining on her features, oh Faranth, she hoped she was worthy of a dragonet.
The Moon Egg was rocking hard now, and the crack widened. A greenish wing poked out of the hole, pushing it open further. It seemed like it was definitely going to be the first to hatch, but then the Sun Egg gave a single rock and exploded, sending egg shells flying everywhere, some probably hitting the candidates.
A handsome Tan stood where the egg had been. He blinked, seeming a bit surprised, but that only lasted for a moment. He shook his head, pushing a hat-like shell off of it, and stood, flaring his wings. He surveyed the candidates haughtily before strutting towards the boys.
The Moon Egg finally hatched, and the crowd drew in a breath of surprise and delight. It was a Barred! The new hatchling growled and glared at her brother, then scurried towards the females, stopping in front of Salise.
Salisemine, it's not fair! Artemisth should have hatched first, she pouted, but her tirade was cut short by her rumbling stomach.
The Tan snorted and sauntered up to Brecan. Please feed your Apolloth. I hunger terribly.
Meanwhile, the Web Egg's crazy pattern was slowly shattering. As the pieces fell away, a silvery hide was revealed, and another Barred stepped forth from the ruined shell. Following her sister's lead, she headed for the girls. She carefully inspected each one, sniffing at Cerridwen's robe curiously and snorting at Rosalind. She stopped in front of Gwenduine, looking up at the girl curiously for several long moments. Then she creeled and turned away, running to her mother. Where was her bonded?
The strange Mirror Egg was the next to hatch. The young brown glanced at his sister and seemed concerned, but then he caught a glimpse of something shiny. He bent to poke at a shard of his own egg. He could see his own hide reflected in it! It was so pretty. He delicately picked it up between his teeth and walked delicately to the boys, presenting the shard to Firelae. See how pretty your Narcissuth is, mine?
Moon Egg Name: Artemisth Color: Barred Size: 27 Meters Appearance: Artemisth is a large Barred dragon with a strong, muscular build. Her hide is a lovely shade of silvery green, seeming more green or more silver depending on the light. Her purple streaks are bright and vivid. She is not a vain dragon at all, but most would agree she is one of the most beautiful dragons in the Weyr. Personality: The best way to describe Artemisth is as a tomboy. She is not prone to feminine wiles in the least, and she would prefer to perfect her aerial tricks than flirt. She loves to be active, and she spends a lot of time working on her flying technique. She likes to be the best at whatever she does, and she especially take pride in doing better than the males at anything. Whenever someone suggests she should be nicer to males and maybe try to win one of them over, she gets very angry. You don’t want to be in her way when she has a temper. Her bouts of anger are fierce, and she holds a strong grudge against anyone who wrongs her. Inspiration: Artemis, goddess of the Moon and of maidens. She took a vow of chastity, but later fell in love with Orion only to have Apollo trick her into killing him. Color Code: D5F0D6
Sun Egg Name: Apolloth Color: Tan Size: 42 Meters Appearance: Apolloth is large for a Tan, but more in length than in bulk. He has a slender, lithe build with a long, skinny neck and a whiplike tail. His hide is a very pale, creamy color that almost veers towards white. He is, admitedly, a rather handsome dragon, and he knows it. He carries himself with an arrogant poise. Personality: Apolloth may look nice, but his personality is far from it. He breaks the usual mold of Tans. He is not quiet and unassuming. Rather, he is a downright jerk. His best quality is honesty, but it usually manifests in rude or mean comments about his fellow dragons. He is a greedy creature, and he is jealous if other dragons get something he wants. He will stop at nothing to see his desires fulfilled, and he can be very charming when he is trying to get something he wants, such as a pretty female or an exemption from a weyrling lesson. Once he has it, though, he’s back to his usual brash, arrogant self. Inspiration: Apollo, the sun god. Color Code: papayawhip or FFEFD5
Mirror Egg Name: Narcissuth Color: Brown Size: 36 Meters Apperance: Narcissuth's hide is a perfect shade of light tan-brown. There are no flaws in hide color on this Brown because if there were...he would probably demand for them to be covered with some kind of berry dye. Narcissuth is a medium-sized Brown with perfect wings and tail length...at least to him. Personality: Narcissuth just can’t get over himself. He is extremely conceited. He thinks he’s the best at everything: best looking, best flyer, most popular with the females...everything! He constantly brags about his accomplishments, and he rarely pays much attention to anyone else except his rider. He thinks his rider is the best too. Sure, all dragons think their rider is great, but Narcissuth can’t stop talking about how his rider is the best human ever, and he constantly pushes his rider to prove himself. Inspiration: Narcissus, a man who was cursed to fall in love with himself. (And he broke the heart of poor Echo in doing so. D:) Color Code: peru or CD8F3F
Cerridwen watched the eggs, hope shining on her features. As the first eggs hatched, she clapped faintly. She stared down at the barred as it sniffed her robes, and took a look at Rosa. She sighed as it walked away, and stood back a little, and waited. Maybe things would be well, maybe the wouldn't. Ludo chirped to her and she stroked his nose again. Hoping that all would be well.
Green eyes turned towards the processions, checking over those in the stands. Her eyes staring at J'reth and Labby for a little bit, another secret smile leaving her lips as she returned her attention to the sands.
Salise held her breath as the rocking of the Moon egg grew more violent, but then came a surprising turn of events- the Sun egg suddenly revealed a dragonet! She had been sure the silvery Moon egg would hatch first. But it was a Tan that stepped from the Sun, and a Barred from the Moon wasn't far behind.
Salisemine, it's not fair! Artemisth should have hatched first! Salise stared at the dragonet at her feet, not having expected to Impress so quickly, if at all.
Well... you Impressed first. Salise smiled and rubbed the dragonet's chin. Artemisth shifted her head away and nudged Salise towards the food.
Let's eat first too, I'm hungry. The Barred snorted and glanced around at the other dragonets. Second to hatch wasn't too bad at least. Hers was right, she had Impressed first and that was more important.
Come on then... Salise walked towards the tables almost in a daze, still amazed she had Impressed... and to a Barred! Artemisth hurried beside her, anxious to fill her rumbling belly.
Did Hatchings always happen this fast? The moon egg shook and shivered and cracked, then the sun egg exploded. It was, Brecan thought, as if the dragonets inside were having a competition as to who could be born first. A lean, light colored tan and a very pretty barred were, thus, the first to emerge in quick succession.
Brec fancied that the barred gave the tan a dirty look for daring to hatch first. Then she quickly scurried towards a group of female candidates. He didn't know the one she chose well, and didn't have time to congratulate her.
The tan was also on the move, a light colored dragon who was already, somehow, carrying himself like...like he believed himself the best dragon on Pern.
Which he was. He was the best color, he was large for a tan but lithe enough not to sacrifice much agility for it. Man, he was almost white, and he was at Brecan's feet and their eyes meeting. Hunger and love and an incredible self-confidence flowed into his mind. He was beyond words, he was unable to find even one that could possibly describe what he felt, except that a lot of it seemed to distill down into a name. "Apolloth!" Now he understood why so many new weyrlings called out their dragon's name. Because it was the only thing one could say.
And then B'can was guiding his lifemate to the side of the Sands. There was food there, and Apolloth needed it. Only vaguely was he aware that a brown and another barred had Hatched. They did not matter. Only Apolloth did.
--
Tan first. Almost as good as bronze first, and maybe there wouldn't even be a bronze in this clutch. The barred, a girl she did not know well. The tan then chose the boy who would be really cute if he wasn't so short. Gwenduinne wasn't displeased. He deserved it...maybe even a bronze, but tan it was and therefore tan was right.
Then there was a barred sniffing at her. She stiffened, thinking 'Choose somebody else. Choose somebody.' And then it was keening and sniffing at Kelth and crying...
What had she done? Surely, it could not have heard or sensed her rejection. Or maybe it could. What if that had been meant to be her dragon and now, unwanted, it would go between? She stepped back, the look on her face completely unreadable and a whispered "No" escaping her lips.
"You didn't notice before? I think everyone knows I'm hyper as anything, I mean I never stay still. Even for a second, and yeah, I guess, I mean they look so soft at first, but now they're really hard and stuff. I'm really, really nervous. Is it so easy to see? Oh dear, oh I dunno, I guess there's always the wher clutch if I don't, good luck Cerri-- Who's that? Who are you waving to? Who's he? Why were you going into the barracks to get your robe? Where were you last night?" For all Rosalind's hyperness, she'd learnt to observe things, you had to be attentive when running, after all it would only be too easy for a runner and rider to run you over.
Her attention was stolen by the Sun Egg exploding, at which Rosalind promptly squealed and put her hands to her mouth in excitement. He was just beautiful! And so was she! Oh wow, look at them, and there was a brown too! Rosalind was actually bouncing on the spot, but the look she gave Cerri told the other girl that she wasn't completely distracted from her questions.
Another Barred! This time, Rosalind froze as the female sniffed at Cerri, then snorted at her, which caused a reaction rather similar to a child, drawing in a deep breath and clapping her hands happily when she moved away. "Did you see that? She snorted at me!"
---
D'nor chuckled as Laukarth let out an excited squeak from the rapid hatchings, they didn't always move this fast, but when they did Laurie loved it. The green was humming rather loudly, but then that was her all over, loud and brash. As the four dragons hatched and three Impressed though, she fluttered her wings in excitement, practically bouncing on the ledges with the other dragons. D'nor, for all his excitement, merely smiled and clapped along with the rest of the weyr. It was exciting yes, and Laurkarth's excitement was catching, but he wasn't a weyrling anymore that could cheer. Or a candidate like the one girl down there.
It was interesting though, most seemed to have already chosen. Had the Touching had a huge impact on these hatchlings? Or were they just naturally decisive? It didn't matter really, though that one barred seemed confused, was she alright?
(I'd right more, the others are still watching but I'm being sent to bed >>)
The deep red Wine Egg hatched quickly, and soon the remaining Barred was joined by a dark Blue hatchling. He chirped cheerfully at his sister and then stepped towards the candidates. He proceeded to trip over his own feet and go flying head over heels, ending up with one wing stuck in the sand. He creeled in frustration, making a rather comical picture as he stumbled over the wing, managing to pull it out after a big struggle. He hurried to the girl candidates, almost knocking over Cerri in his haste to get to his bonded, Rosalind. Miiiine! Won't you feed your Bacchuth so we can go do more exciting things?
As if encouraged by the Blue's Impression, the Barred hesitantly left her mother's side again and went towards the candidates, focusing on the males this time. As soon as she did, she let out a happy trill and ran to Kendric. K'dricmine, Minervath didn't see you there! The crowd gasped and applauded. It looked like Barreds could Impress to males!
The Feather Egg hatched next, revealing another Barred! She was mostly green, and it would be hard to tell she was a Barred if not for the purple marks. She was quickly followed by a Brown from the Steel Egg. The Barred crooned and tried to nuzzle her brother, but he snarled and hissed, stalking away. Dismayed, the Barred hurried to her rider, Cerridwen. He's being silly, mine! Why doesn't he like Venuth? Oh well. I guess there's no time for flirting...I'm hungry!
The Brown ran for the candidates, wanting to get this over with and find his bonded! He paused before Iosif, and then he growled. That wasn't right! He swiped at the candidate angrily and moved on to the next, eyeing each one critically.
Web Egg Name: Minervath Color: Barred Size: 21.5 Meters Appearance: Minervath’s hide is more silver than green. It is a light shade of silver that seems shiny when the sun hits it just right. Her purple streaks are also light, a shade of pale lavender. She is dainty for a Barred, but she carries herself with such grace that no one notices her small size. Personality: Minervath is quiet and reserved. She doesn’t speak unless she really has something to say, but when she does, it is usually something profound and important. She does talk a lot to her rider, but prefers to be more introverted with everyone else. Minervath is very observant, and she likes to think a problem through before acting. She loves to give advice to her rider, and will calmly guide her through all sorts of trouble. Inspiration: Athena (Minerva), one of Zeus’s daughters, and the goddess of wisdom. Color Code: C9C9C9
-------------
Feather Egg Name: Venuth Color: Barred Size: 28 Meters Appearance: If it weren’t for the purple markings, Venuth could be a green. Her hide has hardly any hints of silver in it. The other thing that makes it clear Venuth is a Barred is her size. She is on the larger end of the spectrum for a Barred, which would make her a giant green, but less knowledgeable people still mistake her for one on occasion. Personality: Venuth flirts constantly. If it’s a dragon, a male, and it has a pulse, she’ll flirt with it. When she isn’t flirting, she’s thinking of new flirting methods to try. Not only is she seductive, but she’s also easily seduced. She is a true romantic at heart and she loves getting compliments from the males. The only thing she loves more than flirting is setting up her rider. She is constantly telling her rider to talk to boys (or girls; she knows humans can like both and she doesn’t care, as long as there’s flirting going on) and ask them on a date. Inspiration: Venus, goddess of love (also known as Aphrodite) Color Code: 84E8AB
-----------
Wine Egg Name: Bacchuth Color: Blue Size: 26 Meters Appearance: Bacchuth’s hide is as dark as his egg, although it is navy instead of maroon. His hide is so deep it almost seems black, but across his chest there is a scattering of light, sky blue flecks. His left wing also has a swirl of bright, royal blue. He is a medium sized blue with a medium build. One of his more noticeable traits is his clumsiness. On the ground, he is constantly bumping into things and knocking stuff over. Personality: The best way to describe Bacchuth is as a partier. He loves to be surrounded by other dragons and people, and where there is a crowd, he is sure to stir up some excitement. He hates being bored, and he always comes up with wild ways to “have fun.” He doesn’t care who he brings along on these adventures, as long as he has company. He is very outgoing and will talk to anyone. He is also extremely loud, and he is constantly chattering away. It seems like there’s no filter between his mind-voice and his brain. Inspiration: Bacchus, god of wine and seems to inspire madness in people. He is depicted as having 'non-Greek' origins even though he was one of their gods. Also known as Dionysus. Color Code: 0B0D42
Meagen applauded the impressions, her eyes lighting up as she watched the pairs. She remembered her hatching day, it had been a joyous one indeed. Her lips pulled into a faint smile as she looked towards the now passed out Toath. Oh great Faranth, her dragon was definitely odd. Her eyes turned back towards the procession as she noticed a Barred that was almost dark enough to be a green. If not for her purple markings, you would think so. That and you would think she was a ginormous green, simply because of her size.
Cerridwen had nervously been watching the eggs. She was suddenly knocked over, and sprawled on the ground as she stared up at the sky. The sands burned, but she was just stunned. Ludo was creeling in surprise, floating above her now, his wings flapping. She sat up, only to come face to face with swirling eyes. Her own green ones widened as she stared into the eyes of the huge barred. Her lips pursed a moment, as the impression snapped and the mind slipped into her own.
He's being silly, mine! Why doesn't he like Venuth? Oh well. I guess there's no time for flirting...I'm hungry!
Cerridwen stared at awe at the creature for a moment then cleared her throat. "She says her name is Venuth!" she exclaimed as she threw her arms around the dragons neck and laughed ecstatically. She pulled back and nodded, "Yes lovely, yes yes lets get you some food..." She said with a laugh as she walked with her dragon over towards the tables where feeding was being done. It was be interesting to say in the least, life with this dragon.
Nixsha smiled softly at the latest impressions. Her hands braced before her. Her flitter fair where actually behaving pretty well. They where clinging unto her and all that they where doing was humming now. Numbweed was humming the loudest, and Cling was trying to contest him for the humming. It was cute to say in the least, the way they where at the hatching. Nixsha watched the dragons again, a small smile on her lips. Life would be life...
K'in K'in know he was late for the hatching, but being late was better then not going at all right? He had sent Tindereth ahead of him to help with the humming, but he had to finish attending to Avair before he could do anything. It seemed that a misfortune had befallen the hawk when he had gone out searching for food that day. It seemed that a rather feisty feline had caught him of guard well he was eating his catch and one of his wings had been badly injured. He had found him right outside the barracks right as the humming had started. Of course, that left him with only one choice, he had to attend to at least take care of the wounds before he could go anywhere and he did just that.
Running, with a slight limp his right leg from his injures at the hatching, to the Infirmary with Avair in his arms, K'in watched as a healer started to do what he could for the hawk. As you all may of guessed already, he was worried about Avair. No, this wasn't the first time the hawk had gotten himself hurt, but it had been the first time his wings had been injured. Would he ever fly again? That was a question that he would have to find the answer to at a later time, for that couldn't be known at the moment. Don't worry, Mine. Avair will be alright. I am sure of it! You should see the new hatchlings they are very handsome and beautiful! Three Barreds, two Blues, a Brown, and a handsome Tan like me! You should hurry up, Mine. Your missing it! The voice of his dragon called to him through the link in their minds.
K'in bite his lip as he watched as the healer started to wrap bandages around the injured wing. He was relieved that the healer was moving so fast. It was apparent that he wanted to go to the hatching as well, but he knew that his patients took priority over what he wanted. Though he was not enjoying helping the thrashing hawk at all. Finishing the bandaging, the healer handed the bird back to K'in with, now, scratched up hands. "Bring him back for a check up tomorrow," the healer said before walking out of the room, leaving K'in to calm the injured hawk down.
After K'in calm Avair down, he replied to Tindereth. I'm on my way, Tindereth. He thought to the Tan dragon as he started to make his way towards the hatching sands with the hawk cradled him in his arms. Alright, I will see you when you get here, Mine. Was the only thing the dragon replied with as K'in continued on his way. It didn't take long for K'in to get to the hatching sands. But when he got there, he stopped before finding a place to sit down. The soft humming the filled the air brought back memories of when he stood upon the sands himself. The day he got his Tindereth. He looked upon the sands to see what was going on. It seemed that six candidates had already impressed and one dragonet, a blue, was still looking for his. He smiled a little as he looked upon this.
He turned his attention to the dragon ledges and searched for his Tindereth. It didn't take long for him to find the Tan dragon that had found his way into his heart. Then again, that was the way impressions were. Plus, how could he not love the big bundle of fun. Life would be so much more boring without Tindereth and he knew it. After finding his dragon, K'in decided that now would be a good time to sit down. With this in mind he walked over to where the other weyrlings were siting and sat down. I'm here, Tindereth, K'in told the Tan dragon as he returned his gaze to the sands. I know, Mine. I saw you come in...
