((I know there are other weyrlings with eggs to hatch... lets rp. :3 And if they don't... I bet there are some who at least want to watch... >.>)) "What should I name it when it hatches..." Aleyi was very excited about her egg, but had come upon a problem. She was expecting it to be a Bronze, maybe a big Tan or really big Brown... male at least. That way she didn't have to worry about clutches... just the creature chasing. But afterwards she didn't need to worry about the eggs, just the flitters did. Maybe Little Jerglith, Jerglith suggested, his eyes whirling playfully. "If it was a Blue maybe, but this is going to be a big fire-lizard!" She spread her arms out wide to demonstrate. Jerglith looked down at his paws thoughtfully. Mabye Jergle. That wasn't Jerglith or Little Jerglith. It could work for a fire-lizard that wasn't blue. "That's practically Jerglith though, let's think of some creative names!" She prodded her egg curiously. It had to hatch soon... maybe when the baby came out of its egg she could decide on a name better. Did it just wiggle? Jerglith's head was suddenly in the pot ((which Aleyi gets to keep )), his nostrils flaring as he sniffed at the yellow egg. "No, that was just my finger bumping it." Aleyi shrugged and brought her hand back to her lap as she continued thinking. "Maybe Aliy." That's almost Aleyi, it would have to be a girl. Jerglith snorted. She was just as bad at names as she said he was. And it did wiggle! I just saw it shake again! Aleyi looked down at the egg, not at all put out by Jerglith's discarding her idea for a name, and watched the egg curiously. There is was! It shook again! It was hatching! Both watched in fascination as the shells fell away. And what was finally revealed? Either this was a large and very gold Bronze... or it was a Gold. A Gold? She didn't want a queen, a clutching flitter... She is so pretty! Feed her! Jerglith didn't seem at all deterred and chirped a cheerful greeting to his new little sister. Aleyi figured maybe she was just lucky in a weird way and started feeding it. "I know just what to call her then... Brooke." Brookelev would like having a Gold fire-lizard named after her. Maybe someday Aleyi could send her friend one of the fire-lizard's young.

Maideneth sotmped her feet excitedly as she fought to stay still enough to watch the little eggs. She saw one rock gently...did she? It had been out of the corner of her forever swirling eye, it had tricked her many times before but on closer inspection...
MINE!!! Mine! The eggs moved! They're hatching NOW!!! She warbled and Earisa slid to a halt having raced in so fast. You move fast for them but not so much me...
Scrambling to dig out the little scraps of food and tid bits she had been trying to save for the 3 eggs without Maideneth eating it.
that one cracked! Maideneth cried out in surprise, the fiery orange/red egg chipped before 'exploding' apart, a little green almost as bright in color as Maideneth flapping her wings to right herself on her feet. At the first sight of food infront of her it was down her throut, nearly taking Earisa's fingers with it. The lovely purple egg was taking a little more time, cracking open more daintly on a lovely blue.
The green was in no mood to share but it was good that Earisa had two hands. The pretty rainbow egg looked like it ws in trouble, rocking then falling till for a moment then repeating it over again.
Come one little one! Come on! And eventually a large piece fell free and a small muzzle poked out. Breaking out away from it's egg showed him to be a pretty little bronze. The green was so stuffed that she staggered around on her feet like a drunk, eventually falling asleep on the weyrling's lap as she used her newly freed hand to feed the bronze what was left of her scraps. "Kitz... Cion... Ain...Yes! green Ain, blue Cion and bronze Kitz!"
pretty names!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
D'mar was coddling his little one, having been told by Kayth that Aylei down the hall had a hatchling in with her. A barred and a brown drapped over his arms, only just awake. Pretty little gold! Kayth said with longing but that might have just been because he was a bronze.
"So what did you name your's? My barred is Memory." but the bronze weyrling wasn't the last to arrive. It was only a minute before Jorindath poked her violet head around the corner. There are more in here!!!
Inolyn came in with a blanket nesting the prettiest little fire lizard ever seen. A pretty deep sapphire blue was curled around himself looked like a flawless jewel. "Meet blue Keloc, and Earisa has her hands full with 3 so that makes..." and she did a quick count. "6 new firelizards in the barracks."
All the fire-lizards are hatching now! Jerglith gurgled and looked around the barracks. Yours got many of them, Jerglith glanced at Maideneth and Earisa, his eyes whirling a cheerful rainbow of colors.
"She'll get her hands eaten trying to feed them all at the same time," Aleyi commented before raising a finger Brooke had just bitten to her mouth. The Gold didn't seem to realize which meat she could eat and which was still connected to somone alive...
"I named her Brooke," Aleyi replied to D'mas. "Yours have pretty names, how fun to get a Barred!" Of all the females, she probably wouldn't have minded the newest ones...
Mine still isn't sure she wants a Gold, Jerglith commented to Kayth. But I think it's too late now.
"Eight? Really?" The barracks would be an exciting place with eight new babies flying around it. And maybe there would be more, Aleyi didn't now how many other Weyrlings had bought eggs. Some had gone to the Violet's hatching... those flitters were still young too. "Yours are pretty too," Aleyi added, glancing at them.
You should get a Blue next time.
((sorry, but due to just seen recounts, the eggs containing Inolyn's and Dumas' browns we're recalled and given to other's. So I retract the two brown two fire lizards))
"I don't think it'll be long before we're up to our ears in these little guys, not that i think I mind one bit." Inolyn said, stroking her living sapphire.His sides were bulging to an almost uncomfortable size but he was so deep asleep he didn't even move.
D'mas re-adjusted the little purple-striped silver hatch ling in his arms. "Not to mention i think it's pretty neat having a barred of my own, and Kayth seems rather fond of them" They look pretty! Kayth defended himself with, but to no avail. It was probably for the best that he was still a juvenile, but just about anything that moved drew the young bronzes attention.
"No, probably not." Aleyi grinned. She wouldn't mind getting overrun with fire-lizards, they were all very cute. Brooke didn't seem to care much about knowing that though, she was still hungry. After bumping Aleyi's arm a couple times and cheeping demandingly, she was gifted with some more food.
I think they're pretty too, Jerglith rumbled softly. He wasn't thinking at all about the chance of rising to chase the silvery-green dragonets, not yet at least, but liked their stripes and bright hides.
But you're just as handsome, Aleyi laughed and rubbed the Blue's eyeridge with her free hand.
"It would be fun to have a Barred," Aleyi agreed aloud. They were new anyways, which made them that much more exciting. But they were females, likely to clutch, and she hadn't been looking for a clutching fire-lizard. Still... she had to be happy with her little Gold.
(and now FF might be giving D'mas back his brown *sigh* so much confusion)
Maideneth finally came skittering it, looking rather smug as Earisa and her 3 flits weren't far behind. The green and blue she had in each arm while the bronze was still awake enough to perch on her shoulder. He looked rather odd and off balanced with his belly nearly at exploding proportions but the small bronze hang on tightly.
"Oh why did I take three? I can barley carry them all let alone care for Maideneth..."
I like them!
The barred stirred, opening her blue/green eyes. With a yawn and a stretch she looked up at everyone with a little peep. "I couldn't be happier with her, like i couldn't find any fault with Kayth." As you shouldn't have
Inolyn examined he blue closely, but he was still so deeply asleep that he didn't even twitch. "I guess Keloc will be all show and no action. He's a very pretty color."
((x3 He can just magically come and go then...))
Aleyi laughed. "Your Bronze looks about ready to fall off your shoulder." When they were grown, would a fire-lizard perch on each shoulder and Earisa's head? That would be funny to see. Aleyi herself wasn't sure she would want a fire-lizard on her head, it would probably scratch her...
I'm sure it wouldn't do it on purpose, Jerglith pointed out.
Of course not. But they still have claws. She gave Brooke a little more meat, but the Gold only got halfway through that before falling asleep in Aleyi's arms. "Yeah, Brooke is nice too." Even if she did have to worry about eggs now. "And there's nothing wrong with Jerglith either."
The Blue rumbled. There couldn't be anything wrong with a dragon. Or his new little sister. His shouldn't be worrying about clutches.
Aleyi peered at him. "He is. And maybe he's like Jerglith and just sleeps a lot just after hatching..." It sure felt like the only thing the Blue had done in the first few days since hatching was eat and sleep, with the occasional whine about an itchy hide in-between.
I did more than that! He snorted.
"So no one knows if there are any more for the weyrling barracks?" Inolyn asked but due to the head shakes it was clear these might be the lot. "At least we have a nice veriety, pluse Meagan's fair crowding up the place."
Earisa growned, "Do we really need so many? I love my three and I know we're short on dragons for a Pass, but are lizards really the answer?" it was something to think about. Flits could only do so much compared to the colossal draogns.
"Any relief will be welcomed I think, and with the wher's breeding up their numbers too we should be able to defend what we have left." D'mas had been told he was rather advanced mentally for a weyrling and showing his potential as a bronzerider.
Aleyi shrugged. There were people who already had flitts, Meagen especially. What would one ever do with seven? And she wanted more... Aleyi didn't get it. "Well, there were the flitts from the Weyrwoman's Violet's hatching. A few weyrlings went to that, didn't they?" They would only be a bit older than these ones.
"We don't raise fire-lizards to fight Thread." Aleyi rolled her eyes. People kept flitters for pets and carrying messages. You couldn't do that with a dragon. Fire-lizards were a handy size to just have around, they weren't any sort of answer to anything.
Seeing as her reply to Earisa was somewhat a reply to D'mas too, Aleyi turned her head to look down at Brooke again. The little Gold was very pretty while she was sleeping. What he said made little sense too; whers worked in the Mines, they didn't fight Thread either. Each creature had its own different job, even if they were somewhat related.
D'rshan watched the small orange-tinged egg carefully, noting the small hairline fractures that dotted the egg's smooth surface. Princth was staring at the little egg as if he could magically make it burst open, eyes a bright blue-green.
Will it hatch soon? I've a spot on my left wing that itches terribly...
The brown snorted impatiently, eyes never leaving the egg. D'rshan rubbed Princth's eye ridge methodically, his unspoken command for the brown to calm down going unheeded.
Look, there's a larger crack on the left side toward the bottom of the egg!
D'rshan shifted closer, bringing his head down so that his eyes were level with the pot and egg. He figured he must look a sight with his rear in the air, but he didn't care. Suddenly a small leg burst through the shell, sending shards all over the place. The egg rock violently, and then the other three legs burst through the shell. The force of the egg's rocking had tipped the egg on its side, and the legs wriggled wildly as the flitter inside tried to get free.
The egg rocked even more frantically, then rammed into the sides of the the cup and tipped over, falling the short distance to the floor and cracking open with an ominous crunching sound. "Shards and shells!"
The tiny blue creeled plaintively, shaking his head from side to side as he got to his feet, legs still wobbly from the fall. He smelled something delicious but wasn't sure where it was. Fanning his sticky wings, he began to follow the scent, eyes whirling a violent orange-yellow.
D'rshan grabbed a piece of meat, gingerly extending it to the blue flitter, who voraciously attacked it. When it mewled, he just kept feeding it, not wanting it to go between. When the small bowl of meat was gone, D'rshan gave Princth a worried look.
I think he is done now. Look!
The blue was curling up on the dirty floor, eyes a dark, contented blue. Scooping up the blue, D'rshan cradled him against his chest, smiling at Princth.
What shall we call him?
How about Iliek?
Sounds like a fine name for him.
Oooh! I feel anopther one hatching! Jorindath cried in happiness. It's almost what people would expect of a queen, and young and small as she was right now.
Who and what hatched, dear?
Jorindth cocked her head, as if thinking really hard about it, or just waiting to find out. D'rshan and Princth have another blue
Look Mine, another Blue! Jerglith trilled excitedly, happy to see another flitter somewhat of his color. What will he be called?
Not Jergle, I'm sure. Aleyi laughed. "Jerglith wants to know what you called your flitter, D'rshan." She glanced at him. The dragonet did the same, his eyes whirling a myriad of colors to show his curiosity.
Jergle would be a very nice name I think. He told Aleyi quietly.
D'rshan rubbed Iliek absent-mindedly as he spoke quietly to the blue weyrling. "Princth named him Iliek." Noticing the gold flitter that lay in her arms, D'rshan nodded at it, asking, "What did you name her? She's a pretty one, your flitter."
