Dancer gave a creeling hum, only a few days after her Fair-Sister Hope had risen, and now it was her turn. Dancer was amazed at all the new flitters to chose from, not to mention the fact that, there was some new colors, that where prettttyyyy cute. She awakened and took out a quick meal, for energy. Then gave a call to mate. Her green hide rippled in the early morning light, as she waited. When there was sufficient chasers, she would take off.

Torch popped from between to appear near the Green, having heard her call to the chase. Was he the first? He chattered softly, a little encouragement to himself, and then crooned to the Green and alighted nearby. He had chased enough Greens in his lifetime to know that most didn't seem to like their pursuers coming too close, so he remained a couple fire-lizard lengths away, but watched her with whirling eyes.
She was a very pretty Green, Torch could win her. He was a very pretty Blue anyways, with his dark body but bright blue head. Another soft croon, being quiet was so dull, and then he glanced quickly around to see if more had come. Tak, at least, wouldn't be competition. But others would be coming, flitts he probably didn't know as well as the Brown. His quick survey picking up no others, Torch returned his admiring gaze to Dancer.

Whim's head shot up from Z'ris' shoulder where he was comfortably sleeping. He felt a Green rising and with a playful flick of his tail at Z'ris, he was gone.
He flew to where the excitement was and crooned to the mistress. He hoped that he could prove worthy this time...he didn't want another big upset, and this Green was much more beautiful than any he had met before!

..Who says I'm too old?...
Akila stretched one wing out contentedly, having awoken from his sun-drenched nap. He gathered up his wings to launch out for a leasurely flight when he caught the sound of a mating call.
A green's mating call.
Akila may have been one of the oldest firelizards at the Weyr, but the day he couldn't last a green flight was the day he took off for forever between. He headed for that heavenly sound, using long, powerful but not taxing strokes of his wings to get him there.
Ah, so he was the only bronze! Akila shot condescending looks to his younger competition, a Blue and Brown, respectively. His confidence soared as he crooned an endearment to the lovely lady.

Her tail flicked back and forth in thought, as she eyed the three males that had come to attend. It was better then nothing, to say in the least. Maybe more would come as time went on. The blue was very sweet, flirting how he was, and the Brown WAS very attractive, and oohhh look a Bronze. Now she only had a few bronzes fly her in her days, and she knew that they always turned out fun. But so did blues and browns, oh the choices the choices.
She took to the sky then, calling out again and weaving around the males as they flew around. Then she took her chase to the herd beast pens, she always liked this game. Speed and talent where needed to catch HER! She twisted and turned flying between the legs of the headbeasts and then came up at the other side and creeled out her call more, eyes whirling with purple.

Finally they were off, up into the sky! Now Whim could let out his power and wings. As they flew, Dancer...that was her name, flew around them and then to the Herdbeast Pens.
Whim gave her a chirp and followed. He tiwsted under the beasts who were beginning to panic with the little flitters all around it seemed. Whim even dared to circle around one of the beast's heads a few times. He was showing off his speed and endurance yes, but he knew his limits.
He crooned to her as he too came out of the other side, and did a few lazy circles around her.

Akila took off with a powerful thrust of his hindquarters, followed with broad wingstrokes. Within seconds, he was cruising easily above the muck below him. When she circled about him, he eyed her lithe form greedily, but made no move to capture her yet. That could wait.
When she dove, Akila was barely a breath behind, folding his wings to make his descent smoother. He dodged herdbeast legs with the ease of practice, his proud wings kept at half-furl. He nearlky clipped his left wing there, near the end when that one creature moved. He barely had enough time to correct his course, so fast was he flying.
He turned an aerial somersault over a fly-whacking tail, and pumped his wings to surge up again. His blood was up, and his eyes whirled excitedly.

Torch shot after Dancer as she took off, but then she only began to weave through her followers, maybe showing off agility? He could do that too, but not yet. She needed to really start the Flight, not just welcome everyone. Finally she took off... headed for the herdbeast pens?
A reptilian grin crossed Torch's face as the lovely Green he followed began ducking between the legs of beasts, followed by the others and probably giving the big animals a fright. He chattered excitedly and followed too, weaving between legs and circling around fatty necks, flicking ears with tails as he whizzed past heads. The silly beasts reacted to him like they would a whip, bawling and ducking away. The more they moved, the more Torch's agility would be tested, and the more he could show off. It was so perfect...
One large bovine took a step forward just as Torch was darting underneath her, almost making a hind leg collide with the quickly moving Blue. He folded a wing and swirled to the side, rolling through the air and getting out from under her before flying upwards again and searching for the Green he had briefly lost in that moment.
There she was, just coming up on the far side of the pen. Torch shot downwards again, not about to just dart at her when he could keep showing off how amazing he was because he was small and not a big Bronze or Brown. Maybe they were powerful, but they couldn't be as agile. A quick somersault followed by a quick loop around a nervous beasts muzzle, and he finally arrived with the rest of the group. The performance had been a little tiring, but he could keep going. He would keep going for the lovely Dancer.

Dancers head canted as she watched the males come out from the herdbeasts. The Bronze and Brown had shown off nicely, and the little blue was very agile and tricksy. She wiggled a little and then grinned taking off straight up into the sky, her next trick would be harder. Much more harder, to do and imitate. Into the peoples eating hall she went, swooping down and weaving through legs and around bodies. She lift up and then turned, with a swooping motion back down and flew straight into the lower caverns hall.

Now she went inside? This was not something Torch had seen a Green do before. Torch followed anyways, chattering softly about this new curiosity. Maybe His would be somewhere in the kitchens and he could fly by him and say hello. But distracting himself from the lovely Green now causing quite a stir in the dining hall as she ducked between people's legs and around their food probably wouldn't be a good idea.
So, turning down the idea of looking for His, Torch shot quickly after Dancer. Weaving through the human's legs wasn't hard, they didn't move quite as much as herdbeasts. So he swirled around benches and chairs too, crooning to Dancer and swirling, dipping, rolling. She would choose him for all his antics, wouldn't she? The little Blue was doing his best and hoped it would pay off.
A little girl leapt from her chair to chase Torch and he was finally distracted from the beautiful Dancer. He swirled back and chirped to the child, excited to be meeting someone new. She reached out towards him but then- there were the other males! He needed to go back. Chirping again he twisted back around and shot towards the lower caverns hall. The Blues wings were straining, pushing him faster to make up for the time lost. Hopefully Dancer wouldn't turn him down for being friendly!

Akila would have grinned if firelizards could grin. As it was, he chirruped smugly before folding his wings in another dive. She was trying to get rid of him! He'd see about that...
He wove about legs, bodies, and even a few wine goblets, wings furled a little closer than before as he hurtled through the Hall. He reemerged on the other side, a little disoriented, but still there. Where was that lovely- there! He stroked his way closer to the darling green who seemed so determined to lose her bronze suitor. After all, bronzes weren't particualrly known for their agility! But Akila had a slight advantage over his young competition. First, being older, he knew more tricks (though the inside approach was new, he would admit), and second, he had built up a longer lasting wind, and therefore endured longer.

Whim crooned as they took off again. Up again into the sky, and then a dip...into a place that he certainly hadn't been in during any of the Flights he had participated in...
The Dining Hall! As he gazed around with his purple eyes quickly he saw Dancer dart under the tables and through legs. He saw another male get friendly with a human..during a Flight! Shame!
As the Brown darted under the table he beat his wings harder to catch up to the Leading Lady of the Flight. She was quick, especially darting through legs. Whim was also quick though for a Brown, and he weaved through people's legs and even through a couple that were about to embrace.
A chirp at them gave him a returning yelp of surprise, but that wasn't his real goal. His real goal was Dancer, and she was darting toward the Lower Caverns now...and Whim quickly followed, not looking back once at the Disarrayed Dining Hall.

Dancer wove back the way they came, darting straight back into the air and sweeping high into the WeyrBowls Air. She creeled out her cry as she swept around and dove down. Her wings where tired, her body aching and she had her choice. She dove into the males as they approached and wove her tail around... Akila's. She chirped her choice and nuzzled him faintly, creeling in joy.

Later, Akila would be smug and flaunt his conquest. Later. Now, he spread his wings as he mated with the lovely Dancer.
Necks twined, he used his bronze endurance and strength to keep them aloft as he and indulged in the ecstacy of having won not only a flight, but also a lovely green.
