((If your candidates dont attend, you might not Impress!!!))
Jorindath paced amoung her eggs, having only just spread them out in preperation for hatching. The time was drawing near, everyone knew it, it was time for the candidates to meet their possible lifemates. The violet nudged an egg here and piled more sand there, a mix of emotion swirling in her eyes. She was excited to show off her clutch but nervous of strangers that might hurt them should they not be very careful. Despite her riders reasurence nothing bad would happen, Jorindath was just being a protectful mother.
Inolyn waited at the entrance to the hatching grounds, the candidates should be arriving soon. She was curious about what kind of candidates had been gathered, the hatchlings futures been placed upon these young people. Only time would tell, and the dragons always knew.

Okay. Karisna thought she knew what she had to do.
She approached the Sands, though, with a small amount of wary caution. Wary, because she knew what females with young were like. Dragon queens were bound to be no different, and although they guarded their eggs only until hatching, then relinquished them...
She did not want to be chased out of the hatching grounds by a broody queen. Definitely not. The young woman hesitated in the entrance, then bowed towards the queen, before turning to her rider.
That was a future she was hoping to escape by standing for this clutch, so unlikely to hold a queen. She smiled to Inolyn nonetheless. "May I?"
It felt right to ask permission. It felt right, suddenly, to be here. Which was probably wistful thinking on her part. Looking for clues as to whether she would Impress, when there was truthfully no way of knowing. No way of predicting what the infant dragons would decide, in the end.

Inolyn smiled at the girl, who reminded her maybe a little of herself despite the darker skin and hair. But the violetrider had to shake her head, "I think we had better wait for the others, dont you think? I thought Meagan would be escorting the candidates."
Jorindath looked up at the candidate speaking to her rider, but her head bent down to gaze over her eggs one last time before aproaching the pair. Inolyn laughed, her voice an elegent flutter. "They're not here yet, this one's just a little early!" The dragon gave a hum-like sigh and she settled down near them, making herself comfortable. She didnt seem mean or scary, her eyes only hinted tinges of yellow to show she was nervous. Most queens would be threatening and moody, but not Jorindath.

"It's better that she is early then late. Wouldn't you think Jr. Weyrwoman." The sharp and crisp voice of a young woman filled the air. Meagen was clad in Riding leathers, as she planned on going riding after the lesson was over. She had someone to meet up with and train their flits. That was still one of her jobs, despite being candidate master. She didn't fly in threadfall often, only when Toath was completely sure of himself.
They still went to threadfall training though. "Anyways, I congratulate her for getting here before me. " She said as she gave the girl a smile. "Punctuality is something we need in more of our Riders..." She said gently as she looked behind her. "Alright candidates, line up and one by one enter. Do not overcrowd the Queen and be polite, do as I asked and make a semicircle around the eggs, bow to the queen and then do your touching." She called out.
"Remember your manners as well." She snapped lightly. She knew her students would do well.

"Now when have I ever been 'Jr Weyrwoman' to you, Meagan?" The violetrider said with a laugh. That title was more reserved for Shador and Kelth, being Kora's second in command. Queen or violetrider she accepted from those she didn't know, her once fellow weyrling was free to call her by name. "You're sure taking this seriously, good job though. And this goes for everyone, your welcome to call me Inolyn. This is Jorindath's first clutch and we are as neverous as you are about the hatching. Please be careful, we dont want to remove you from the hatching because of any accidents, and if Jorindath likes you enough she might let you come back to see the eggs again before the hatching."
Moving back she seated herself on one of Jorindath's great forpaws, the great violet crooning gently at the reassurence of her rider. All would be well, what could go wrong?

Karisna was more than a little embarrassed. Meagan might have said better early than late, but she still should not have let herself get so far ahead of the Candidatemaster and her peers.
Still, she got to be first in line. That, she supposed, meant something. The sands beneath her feet were, indeed, hot. She wondered how they had ever coped in the north, before it had been lost, in places that got such cold winters. The contrast must have been almost unbearable.
The elegant violet queen...Kari admired her for a moment, then bowed. Arranged around the queen were the elegant, delicate spheres that were her eggs.
Kari wanted, for a moment, a sketch of the scene. It was transient, it was beautiful. Perhaps the hatching would inspire a dance?
Perhaps it was a dance, of sorts, but one in which not everyone got a partner. The violet dragon seemed, if she could assign an emotion to a dragon, uncertain. Kari, thus, made her approach to the nearest egg a rather slow one. Not over-cautious, simply making it clear that she was not a threat.
The shell was dry and firm. Newly laid eggs were leathery, then they expanded and hardened. They had, she had been told, to be fully hard for the hatchling inside to break out.
There was a dragon inside this egg. "Maybe you're a blue," she commented to it, thoughtfully.

Jekel was close to the start of the line. He couldn't wait he was almost shivering with excitment and nervousness....
He walked in and smiled at the violetrider, before turning and bowing to the radiant mother herself. She didn't look too broody or scary, as most mothers were expected to be, she looked reasonably calm, if a little nervous.
Around the queens were her eggs. Sitting silently, almost waiting for the nervous.
Realisation suddenly dawned on him...
To think, my lifemate could be somewhere here. Somewhere in these eggs could be my dragon...... __________________________________________________
I know what I am supposed to do, it can't be that hard...
Transiit was talking to herself, she was a little nervous. Although nothing on Pern would get her to admit it.....
Remember. Manners. Bow. Don't crowd the queen. You can do this.... I think....
The sands were hot under her feet, burning them through her shoes. But she didn't care. She was getting to see the eggs.
Their porcelian shells were glittering in the light, with the violet queen sitting in the middle, and her rider sitting on one of the queens forepaws.

Miri closed her eyes. yes, she knew what to do- it was quite simple... yet not simple at all. these glimmering mottled eggs could hold her lifemate! she opened her eyes, and calmed herself down no need to be nervous! Miria stepped frowards onto the sands. she bowed at the waist towards the Queen dragon. the Violet was beautiful. too bad there's no queen is this clutch most likely... violets are the prettiest! she thought to herself as she slowly straigtened up. looking around, she walked towards an egg next to the one karisna had touched. she moved lightly through the burning hot sands to avoid hurting her feet. as she rubbed the palm of her hand on the oval egg's smooth shell, she thought about what might hatch from this egg. It was smoother than a polished pebble and curved at the top, and it was amazing. she smiled at the egg. "hello egg.. i wonder what shall hatch from you?" Miria grinned...

Katraen arrived at the hatching grounds excited that he would actually get to touch dragon eggs!!! One of these could be my life-mate... He could feel the hot sands burning the soles of his feet searing through his shoes. He started hoping from foot to foot. Katraen got to the front of the line. Stepping out he bowed to the queen. He smiled slighty at the Weyrwoman standing by, looking at her out from the corner of his eye. He stepped towards an egg. It was medium sized and colourful.
What little dragonett shall hatch from you?

As the candidates stepped out hesitently Jorindath quickly calmed down. There was nothing to worry about, she was listening to their thoughts and many were a little scared of her. Actually that bothered her, the violet liked attention but feared was a bad kind. And these were her eggs, her pride and her gift to Pern, they all needed to be given the same attention.
Inolyn was slide of her foreleg as Jorindath rose, seeking to take matters into her own talons. She picked out Jakel, who was a perticularly nervous looking boy, reaching down to nudge him with her nose towards the far end of the clutch. Fear not she spoke with a croon and left him there infront of an egg before turning back to the others. She then went on the herd and usher the candidates through and around the clutch at her will, not letting them linger for too long by the one egg.
Inolyn laughed at her dragons silliness. You look like a canine herding ovines! Buth the violet ignored her

Jekel didn't know what the violet queen was doing when she bent her head towards him. He tried not to think: Ah she's gonna eat me! It was only when the violet spoke to him saying-Fear not. That he calmed down a bit and realised she was just trying to help. Thankyou. But the queen had already moved away. She had pushed him towards an egg, it was a reasonable size and had a greenish-blueish tinge. Jekel caressed the surface it was hard and firm.
After staying at that egg for a while he realised that the violet was herding people around not wanting them to stay at one egg for too long. So that the queen didn't have to come back to him, not that he was scared anymore, he moved to another egg.
This one was also hard but it had a different pattern on the shell. More stripy than the one before, it was brownish and also a bit bigger than the one before. ___________________________________________________
Transiit headed over to a brownish one. She was standing near where Jekel had been pushed to. It was stripy and pretty big too.
She was no longer nervous, Transiit had realised that the violet queen just wanted her eggs to all be given attention. And she was herding the candidates around the grounds. It wasn't long until she was moved to the next egg.
Things aren't going to badly...
Transiit did want to go back to the brownish egg. Which she supposed held a brown. But Jekel was there already, and she supposed that it would be kind of boring for dragons if the eggs matched the dragon. Where would be the fun in that? If they were all the same, there wouldn't be any need for wonder....

Angelischiel didn't need to worry the queen more then she already was. Her eyes focused ahead of her as she walked towards the next eggs. Crouching down and touching each shell - infusing it with a bit of warmth that would surely make the eggs feel welcome. Make them want to hatch. She was herded around - and she didn't quite mind that. The great queen was welcome to herd her like that.
She smiled as she went - making sure each egg got attention. Stopping only for a moment to face the queen. "May I touch your eyeridge?" She asked the queen, rather brazenly. Perhaps some affection would calm the queen down herself.

Karisna laughed a bit. "You silly dragon," she told Jorindath, as the violet encouraged her towards a different egg. "You think I have a better chance with this one, eh?"
She did touch the egg she was being nudged towards, though. Might as well make contact with as many of them as possible, given she had no clue which might...or might not...contain her dragon.
The big violet dragon seemed to be taking a real interest in the candidates...maybe she was worried that her babies might not... She knew what happened if a dragonet did not find anyone suitable. Well. She would be as suitable and open as she could be. The rest was up to the hatchlings.
Jorindath was...definitely attractive. Almost enough to make her want a queen...but she doubted there would be one. The Weyr had enough, and could a tan-violet...definitely not a gold. She was pretty sure there could not be a gold, even hidden.

After the humor of watching candidates being obiediently lead around wore off Inolyn had raced across the sands to jump up onto her dragons back for a better look. Only she would have been so bold to run so recklessly around a queens clutch, but Jorindath bearly bat and eyelid at her riders bold actions. The eggs were spread apart enough, and the trust was so strong in their rider-dragon that neither had anything to fear.
Thanks to Jorindath the mood over the hatching grounds had greatly improved! The candidates no longer feared the great mother queen and many seemed to be enjoying themselves. The violet was being very vocal, crooning gently as she lead each one around and even licked Karisna as she moved on. When the girl Angelischiel spoke up she wasnt ignored. Lowering her head, the girl was nearly reflected in the great blue-green eye that looked upon her intently with intrest and curiosity. You may

"Thank you" The harper girl said politely as she stroked her hand over the eyeridge - her eyes taking on a new light. "You're beautiful - but I bet you already knew that." She said as she scratched ever so lightly - she had heard that firelizards and dragons liked that. So why not deliver a true thank you to the queen. "It's an honor to be standing at your clutch." She said politely as she slowly lowered her hand.
She had been given permission to touch the eyeridge and nothing more. She didn't want to insult - and it was polite to do exactly what you said you would. "The eggs are beautiful - I hope my bonded is in there somewhere." She whispered softly.

miri squeaked inaudibly when Jorindath pushed her towards a new egg, then chuckled as she realized what the Violet queen was doing. She gave the first egg a last pat and walked the rest of the way towards another egg. the shell was smoother than the last one, and she skimmed her hand across it. she hummed the first line of a song to it, and walked onto the next egg. Steven smiled at Jorindath and nodded to her, striding to a brownish egg, though most likely it wouldnt contain a brown.

Esskin ran towards the Hatching grounds, panicking. He had completely forgotten about the lesson. He knew he was going to be in big trouble with Meagen. Esskin was terrified about facing the woman if she got angry with him, and he didn't want her to be disappointed in him, either. He admired the female Brownrider and didn't want her to think badly of him.
He slowed as he reached the sands, pausing to catch his breath. His face bright red with embarrassment, he walked up to the group of candidates and gave Meagen a deep bow. "I'm so sorry!" he spluttered. "I completely forgot about the lesson, I didn't mean to!" he lowered his gaze, not able to look Meagen in the eyes. He just knew he was going to get kicked off the sands, and then he wouldn't Impress at all.

Meagen looked at the boy sideways - a small smile flittering across her features. She scruffled his hair and then pushed his back lightly. "Go, I'm not stopping you." She whispered lightly. That was all the candidate master had to say about this.
