Gold
The largest of the whers, golds are the clutching females. Their hide colors range from the ruddy shade of beaten copper to the purer shade of spilled sunbeams, and can even venture into the paler realms of sand. The ran from 20 to 22 hands at the shoulder, and 27 to 29 hands long, from nose to base of tail. The tail can add another 9 to 11 hands, and wing size is about the same. They don't Run often- twice a Turn is fairly frequent for these nocturnal beasties. They are Chased by Bronzes. Occasionally, a large Brown will Chase a small Gold, but it is rare.
Golds Bond to strong-willed heterosexual women.
Bronze
Next largest in size, bronzes come in all the shades that dragons come in, and mate the queens (golds). They range from 19 to 21 hands at the shoulder, and run 24 to 26 hands long, nose to base of tail. The tail can add another 8 hands, with wing size about the same.
Bronzes Chase Golds and Greens.
Bronzes Bond to strong-willed heterosexual men.
Brown
Browns are smaller than Bronzes, the mid-ranged whers. They range from 17 to 19 hands at the shoulder, and 21 to 23 hands from nose to base of tail. The tail can add another 7-9 hands. Browns usually chase Greens, though a courageous Brown may try for a small Gold every now and then. Their hide varies in color from very light brown to dark, almost black, brown.
Browns Bond to heterosexual males, but occcasionally a bisexual or homosexual adult will attract one..
Blue
Quickest and smallest of the males. They range from 13 to 15 hands at the shoulder, and 17 to 18 hands from nose to base of tail. The tail can add another 5 to 8 hands, with wing size about the same. They can be any shade of blue, and often are very pleasing to look at. Without enough size to Chase the queens, their mates are Greens.
Blues will Bond to anyone of any sexual orientation.
Green
Greens are the other females. Smallest of all the whers, they do not clutch. They range in size from 10 to 12 hands at the shoulder, and 14 to 15 hands from nose to base of tail. The tail can add another 5 to 6 hands, with wing size about the same. Greens Run several times a Turn, and are Chased by Bronzes, Browns, and Blues. If the wher population includes several Browns and/or Blues, you can bet that there will be a Green or two handy, to keep the males happy.
Greens will Bond to anyone, of any sexual orientation.
((Whers are measured in Hands, like Runners. 1 hand = 4 inches))
