Miria dragged herself into the kitchens. her second chore detail was in the kitchens. sadly, miri had absolutely NO talent in the area of cooking what so ever. she burnt even the simplest of things, and couldnt even make klah right. Miri wondered who she should ask about what she should do. she hoped there was something, anything, other than cooking that she could be put to work on. she *really* did not want to accidentally poison anyone. especially not dragonriders. "uhm, hello? I came here on kitchen detail chores... what is there for me to help out with- although i cant cook." she asked the first person she bumped into.

Esskin actually liked cooking, so he didn't mind this chore. In the Hold, he had never been allowed to cook, since his mother and sisters always kicked him out of the kitchen. Now he had a chance to prepare a meal for all the weyrfolk.
He had just finished washing some vegetables and was getting ready to dice them when another candidate walked in. Esskin recognized the girl he'd had an awkward meeting with in the bath and blushed, wondering if she recognized him. He smiled at her, trying not to be too awkward. "I'm about to cut these up for the stew. Here, you can help." He handed her a knife and went over to the counter, where a pile of tubers was waiting to be peeled and chopped.

"i hope you're not gonna let me actually cook, Ess' " Miria said. she'd blushed when she realized who the boy was. esskin, clearly, knew what to do here, in a kitchen. Miri, sadly, does not. "but i guess chopping some vegetables cant harm anyone, so i might as well do my chore! at least its with someone i know!" maybe too well for comfort- in fact, they'd both mistakenly seen each other, well, in their 'birthday suits'. Miria took the knife he gave her, and followed him to the counter. pealing things was easy, right? "i might as well try" she commented to esskin, smiling. Miri grabbed one of the tubers, and held the knife-point facing away from her. she knicked the skin of the tuber and steadily pealed off a section of skin. chopping was, most likely, the hardest part, seeing as each tuber was a thumb-length deep. "so, since our hands are all that need to concentrate... ess', what dragon color you think you'll impress?" she was not very good at small talk, but she might as well make an attempt to talk to esskin. they were both candidates, and would need to get along well enough when they became riders.
