Transiit watched as the hatchlings and their impressed walked off the sands. Raiin had impressed, W'lfe had impressed so had J'kel as well. Angelischiel had impressed to a BRONZE.
And she was still standing.
Although there were seven eggs left. But she couldn't be bothered to count how many candidates were left.... Probably too many for the clutch.
Transiit was beginning to think she might not impress.
She started thinking about exactly which dragons had impressed Two bronzes, two blue, two tans AND three browns. None of which had even shown any interest in her. Not to mention the charcoal and the ONLY female in the entire clutch so far. A green.
Transiit was beginning to wonder, to ponder...

W'lfe... what a strange sounding name but I like it. W'lfe and Raselth...
W'lfe and Raselth? You mean me and.... OH! Um... cool?
I think so... You seem a bit shocked to think....
Yeah, you're probably right.
Well, while you're getting over the shock, can we get some food?
Sure... I think I'm recovering now though..
You're thinking... you must be! __________________________________________________________________________
Raiin was VERY shocked, to put it plainly....
Wait for me Raiin! One of my brothers or sister might hurt you if you run out, your Xoath will not let them hurt you!!
My Xoath? You're mine?
Yep! And you're mine! And I love you, but can we get some food now? Please!
Raiin hugged the blue dragon sitting before her. Of course, Lets go! __________________________________________________________________________
Iindi saw her sister leave with a blue, A BLUE!
Well that'll make her feel happy, special... it'll be good for her....
Even as Iindi said it she felt her cheast tighten. She knew there were a few amount of eggs left. One of them will choose me.... one of them will want me.... one...
Transiit was still there. Iindi walked over to stand by her friend. One of the dragons would choose them, she thought.... she hoped....

The whole Weyr was nearly in an uproar, a bronze Impressing to a girl? It had never been heard of! Jorindath had thought it curious, but Razuth had chosen a very strong lifemate and she saw nothing wrong with the bonding. Inolyn herself was torn between the happiness of the bonding and the shock of change. However, Jorindath had been similar in the fact she should have been gold but hatched violet.
Angel needs help, does she not like Razuth?
Inolyn rushed over to hug Angel, excited to be the first to congradulate the new pair. "Isnt it wonderful! I knew you would Impress something great! And your so handsome Razuth!"
It seemed the candidates were the only ones concentrating now, three eggs hatching in unison while everyone was still in shock and chattering away to those sitting next to them. A blue so dark he looked nearly black in places hatched nearly on top of the boy he wanted. However the green and the barred bumped into each other, seemingly heading for the same person and got into a scuffle. The larger barred however was a clear victor over her light green sister, sending he scampering away scared into the skirts of Miria.
Miria I'm so scared! She tried to hurt me! Dalarath didn't do anything wrong to her!
Beaming in her triumph the barred let out a mighty roar, silly little green. She would not let her little sister even concider taking her chosen away from her. Did you see me win Iindi! Your Zabeth is a mighty fighter!
Dragon - Green Dalarath Personality - Timid for a dragon, nearly anything that startles her will send her into near hesterics. However she is a very kind dragon who thinks quite little of herself, but will defend her rider not matter the risk with all the bravery she posesses deep down. Description - There is not a single imperfection or marking that marks her hide across her small and dainty figure. She is a solid light green in color, showing a hint of yellow undertones. color code- 4AA02C
Dragon - Barred Zabeth Personality - Zabeth is ill-tempered, competitive and territorial, the only thing she lacks is a sense of vanity. Being covered in dirt, mud and/or blood doesn't bother her at all and often she will argue the need to bathe if it interupts her playing. Description - A very large barred and very darkly colored. Her purple streaks nearly cover her her sides and the pale green lacks the silvery tone of all barreds. Color code - 4E9258

This hatching was quite something, Kari thought. Yet, with only three eggs left, she was starting to remind herself firmly there would be other chances. Another blue, to a boy she did not know. A green for Miria and a barred...the first one...which drew her eye, but chose Iindi.
Well. Many fine riders did not Impress in their first Hatching. A green had almost chosen her, which should be proof enough she belonged on the Sands.
She smiled a little. Yes. She would do just fine, whatever happened. Three more eggs, and it would be over. There would be a party. And likely an uproar over Angel's Impression, even if Kari was right and it was a tan, not a true bronze.
Would this Hatching produce any more surprises? It seemed likely not. All of the other hatchlings had followed normal patterns...of course, blues and greens had always been a lot more flexible than the higher colors. Barreds, she had been told, almost always Impressed girls, but *could* choose boys. Rarely.

Angel had remained in shock - just staring at the bronze. Who was now GLARING at her. Well if a hatchling could glare. Mine, cut this foolishness - you are a woman of control! Act it! He snapped at her in a haughty voice as the young woman looked towards the violet Rider that had suddenly hugged her. The woman had run out unto the sands to hug her.
Had she been in that much shock. She snapped of it then and blinked a few times. Like one awakening from a daze. What color are you? She asked dumb founded. Perhaps it was a tan, no the voice was different in her head. If it isn't obvious. he said.
If dragons could roll eyes he had. For anyone that may still doubt it! I am Bronze Razuth! He said in a rather loud voice for such a small hatchilng. But such was the way of a bronze dragon. He was already shaping up to be as such. To those that doubt, yes - my Angel is a Female. I have chosen her because she is the best. he stated as he tilted back his head haughtily and then looked at her.
Angel mine - I require food. now He stated as he started to walk off the sands.
Angel looked at the Violet rider and smiled. "I'll see you shortly. I have to care for him - I'm sorry." She whispered as she darted after the hatchilng and the two bumbled towards the feeding area.

You just.... GO ZABETH!
Iindi punched the air, she had a dragon!
Thankyou, Thankyou! Now feed me.
Okay, that was a very quick change of mood....
So? You do it all the time. I think...
Yeah, you're right... But who cares? Come on, food's this-away!
Iindi and Zabeth walked towards the feeding area, happy to have found one another.

Miria was still surprised that Angel had impressed a Bronze, but then her attention shifted as she noticed two eggs shaking. they hatched out a barred and a green, she saw, and the barred was practically snarling at the little Green. Miri nearly moved away when the green came in her direction, but the thought-voice that touched her mind drove her to comfort her Dalarath. Miria I'm so scared! She tried to hurt me! Dalarath didn't do anything wrong to her!
<oh, Dalarath- are you okay? dont worry- i wont let anyone hurt you!> Miri comforted her green, wrapping her arms as much around the frightened dragonet as possible. I am not hurt, Mine, but my sister frightened me! Dalarath said, a bit calmer. Now i am hungry, Mine, could you feed me?

Esskin grinned when a cute little green pranced onto the sands. It was good to see a female dragon at last. She seemed curious and interested in everything. Suddenly her prancing turned into a run, and Esskin's eyes widened when a clear female voice sounded in his head. I am here! I am here! E'skin you waited for me and now I'm here! Can you please feed Carath now?
He felt suffused with happiness, as if the voice brought pure joy with it. Laughing, he broke rank to meet his dragon halfway. "Darling Carath, of course I'll feed you," he said, wrapping his arms around and giving her a big hug. He knew that this was the piece of his life that had been missing, even though he hadn't realized it.
Let's go! Carath wriggled free of her rider's grasp and bounded off towards the edge of the sands. E'skin followed, grinning broadly. He would have to wait until later to find out what surprises would happen at the Hatching, since his Carath wouldn't wait for her first meal.

S'ven was still grinning from ear to ear as he '''led''' his Turath to the food. the Tanwas in front of his weyrlign rider, but he still waited for S'ven to help him out. Mine! I am hungry, and i ca not do this myself, so you must feed me! Turath demanded of S'ven. <whh? oh, yeah, right!> S'ven snapped out of his daze, and took a bucket of meat. he used his belt knife to cut it into more swallowable pieces for Turath to swallow. that's all he managed to do before the haughty tan grabbed a piece of meat in his mouth and gobbled it up. S'ven barely stayed ahead of his dragon's appatite. -----------------------------------
Dalarath hid behind miria, and tentatively followed her weyrling rider to the feeding areas. The timid little green peaked out from behind hers, and saw S'ven 's Turath. she gave a little skweak, and hid behind Miria again. Miri laughed, and rubbed the green's eyeridges. <shhh, Dalarath, it's fine! it's just turath and my brother! nothing to fear, so long as you dont get too close to him> He is so much bigger than me! But i am hungry, and his rider is your sibling as he is my brother, so we shall go over there. They started towards S'ven and Turath, and miria hoped raiin would come over soon- she was so excited for her friend!

Only four more shaking eggs were left on the sands but it was time for this hatching to end. While all four cracked their shells at the same time some found it easier to escape these walls to make it to the sands. A green won the race and raced off to the dishearted girls, many who had been left waiting far too long. After a little hesistation she found her girl and was lead away.
three....
The next was a blue-green hatchling, too big to be green or a blue. A teal and the second of the strange violet-tan colors had emerged though it was likely this was the last. He was long, almost serpentine with legs that almost looked too small. While he looked around he tripped on an egg shard of one of his siblings. With a loud help he cradled his right leg, a scratch bleeding slightly from it. After testing the leg a few times he desided he didnt want to walk on it, but he didnt need to to find his. Owwww!!!! Transiit help me! I don't know if I can walk, you'll have to help your Lanth....
two....
Much to the delight of the remaining girls, another female hatched for the girls. A darling little green tumbled onto the sands, her final push a little too much to free herself. However she wasn't more then a little dazed and was on her feet in moments. The world looked big to the little hatchling and she wanted to hide back in her egg. But someone was calling to her almost, she could feel it. Circling her egg a few times she made her decision and ran off towards the boys.
one....
Only one left, and all of the candidates remaining must have felt discouraged and ready to leave. There was still a handful but only one would walk away with a dragon, if the egg hatched successfully that is. It was having trouble, cracks all along the shell but none had given way yet. When a hole was finally made a lovely barred stepped out, weary from her long ordeal. On staggering steps she looked nearly exhasted but she soldiered on like all before her. She was tired, not weak, for the egg had been too thick and she nearly couldn't hatch. No, only someone as strong as her had overcome this challenge and made it into the world when others had failed before her to become duds.
She needed and equally strong person, but the rumbling of her empty stomach could be heard by those closest to her. She needed to be fed and rested to restore her strength. Eventually it was clear who she wanted, choosing a girl who would have to help her new dragon from the Sands. And off the happy pair went...
zero...
Jorindath let out happy little warble, delighted that all the eggs had hatched and impressed. All this time, after all this waiting it was finally over. But then hunger panges overcame her and with permission from Inolyn left, left for the feeding grounds while people were leaving there seats. However Inolyn felt like there was something she still needed to do. As the rider of the clutch mother she wanted to give her sympathies and hopefully ease the pain of the rejection they must all feel. One perticularly though, who she felt most for.
"I'm so sorry Karinsa, I so thought you would have Impressed and I'm not the only one." Placing and arm around the girl's shoulders she started to lead the candidate off the sands. "Jori just didnt clutch your dragon, but you do know what this means don't you? It means your special, we cant all be wrong!"
Dragon - Teal Lanth Description - He is very long which to scale make his leggs look small and stubby. However its just a trait of Teals to look misshaped and he is not disfigured or handicapped in any way. A few wisps of white cover his rump and over his thighs which is the only varience to his teal hide. Personality - He's a happy little one, Turath is, but a bit of a drama queen. Its all fun in games till someone, most of all he, gets hurt, and Turath disolves into sulky crybaby color code - 3B9C9C

Karinsa shook her head. "It means the right dragon wasn't there. It's fine. There weren't many females in the clutch."
She clung to that as the reason. Only three greens and two barreds. And at some place deep within her she had known she was not going to Impress. Had felt it. An odd certainty that each dragon that hatched had not been right for her. Perhaps it was simply that people who paid attention WOULD recognize their dragon when it hatched. That they had to, really.
It had to go both ways, that knowledge, that recognition. But she couldn't help but feel oddly...empty...in that moment. ALL of the people she had been starting to reach out to in friendship had Impressed, after all. She actually shrugged a bit. "And I don't need...you know..." She didn't need a big hug or amazing comforting. She was fine.
Mostly.

Half the clutch had Impessed to girls, even if there had only been seven females total. The weyr had needed a few more larger dragons and it seemed Jorindath and Apolloth had delivered it. Nayarath should be rising soon, so there was still hope for the candidate. "Well I know something that might cheer you up, did you know the Weyrleader has a clutch of eggs from his barred firelizard? If your interested I can let him know, how does that sound?"
Her own glided and fluttered around her, only a blue and a green. Some might find it odd that she as a queenrider would only have so small firelizards, but thats just the way it went. Eventually they took off as Joirndath took down her first kill, hoping to steal a quick bite. But anyway, where was B'can and Apolloth?

Kari smiled. "I think I'd be interested in snagging an egg, if I can." From a barred clutch it would be a smaller color, but she could definitely use the company.
Apolloth had launched from the hatching grounds to follow Jorindath. No doubt, he was planning on eating as well. B'can though, came over.
"I think Jorindath did us proud. Two bronzes and two tans from a tan and violet clutch?" He glanced a little bit at the Candidate. Well. Not all of them could Impress.
"Don't worry," he told her. "Nayarath will be going up soon and Voluspath must be close to maturity."
She just kind of nodded, starting to move away.
B'can turned back to Inolyn. "Although that second bronze is going to cause as much of a stir as the white did. What next...a male queenrider?"
If a bronze could choose a female, then a gold or violet could choose a male, although likely a pretty atypical one. "You can blame Apolloth for it if anyone asks. He's a strange one."
His dragon snorted in his head, but he ignored it. For now.

"Jorindath is the one who's always been different, maybe its both their fault?" Inolyn shruged, she wasn't blaming either of them. There ws nothing wrong with little Razuth, and Angel had always seemed a strong person to her. Once she snapped out of the shock and came to accept her good fortune the pair would be fine. Besides, they would have to get through her if any wanted to hassle the newest bronzerider.
"Besides, I think they did well. It was only their first clutch." Leaning forwards to kiss B'can's cheek she took his hand and started leading him fro the sands. "Come on! Now we have the feast!"
