Kora surely looked a sight with Squeak perched precariously behind her neck, ever so carefully putting paws and teeth through her short hair. Lilac doing the same for the kagen's tail (Squeak did have some power over the fussy Violet, apparently), was no help. Only Soot joined his keeper in her attempt at eating, but it was easier for the Tan than for the Goldrider.
Kora was caught between hunger, laughter, and not moving. She didn't want to upset Squeak, who seemed to feel that grooming her was a requirement to existing with her, but there was no denying that she felt silly letting him do it in public. While she was lying in Nayarath's weyr was one thing, down in the kitchens was another.
She felt bad interrupting her kagen though, and so this was just going to be another thing she had to endure. In all honesty, it wasn't any worse than Nayarath's habit of running the herds thin, and that was a lot more talked (or complained, really) about.
Kora did wish Squeak would hurry up though; soon enough she was going to be out of time to eat or, with Soot not appearing anywhere near full, simply out of food.
I told you not to keep those rats.
