R'mer had managed to end up completely alone. Tinth was asleep on his ledge, the blue's tail falling off the edge of it and twitching it. Thunder was, last he saw him, asleep on Tinth.
Nobody he knew seemed to be around as he wandered towards the hearth, where he could smell fresh klah brewing. Of course, he was a little short on real friends right now. And poor Tinth couldn't win a flight to save his little blue...tail.
Not that he had *wanted* Tinth to win the most recent flight. Female rider, thus, not to his taste. But on the other hand...
He shook his head. Then he glanced around. "Where *is* everyone?" Somebody had to be here, surely.

"Prob'ly at lessons, or out having fun!" Robin's voice chirpped cheerily at the older boys elbow, tilting her head to look up at him even as she attempted to stand slightly taller. She'd certainly grown in the six months since Impressing Sirristh, but she was no where near the height of most of the other people in her class at nearly eleven turns of age. Perhaps she was a bit too young, by most people's standards to have stood and Impressed, but to be honest, she hadn't really been expecting to Impress, especially not to her lovely Sirristh.
And yet, here I am. There was a faintly amused tone to Sirristh's voice as she spoke, effectively distracting her young rider from the conversation she'd started by overhearing the boy's comment, and thus prompting her to answer his question. That was, until Ilyna popped in to sigh at her owner, it was a very long suffering sound, and the bad-tempered green didn't even attempt to snap at the hand that immediately petted her. If anything else though, Ilyna's timely arrival drew her attention back to the boy, and she grinned.
"Why're you inside, it's so nice outside! So much fun to have! Unless, don't you have anyone to play with?" Ceasing her excited bouncing for all of a few moments, it soon started up again, her eyes sparkling with laughter, "That's okay! I'll play with you! Most of the other girls aren't much fun anyway, they're all muchmuch older than me. My friend Sparrow, he lives back at the hold, and is my be-st friend, we used to play together lots but then I got firehead and I had to move here with my cousin, D'nor of green Laukarth. Do you know him? He's really nice! Anyway, and then I Stood at the hatching and I Impressed Sirristh! My name's Robin, what's yours?"
And thus was the life story of Robin, in three seconds or less.

"R'mer, of blue Tinth," the bluerider said with amusement.
She was awfully young to have Impressed...and he rather hoped Tinth would not chase her Sirristh. But that was a concern for another time. He felt a smile tugging, all unbidden, at his lips. This was somebody it would be impossible to be down about. "Your Sirristh is a green?"
She could also be a barred rider. He knew she did not ride a queen or a sky...he knew all of those riders. Come to think of it, he had definitely seen this girl around. Just...not really recognized her as a rider or weyrling. He had assumed she was one of the older weyrbrats.
Well, she had to be all grown up now. "D'nor...I know him somewhat." R'mer DID tend to pay more attention to the male greenriders, his best chance for a potential long term sexual partner. If he ever got so lucky.

"Oh you ride a blue! I didn't know that, I don't think I've ever even seen you around, but then I played outside a lot and maybe I just didn't see you."
Robin was used to annoyance, frustration and even anger at her eagerness to talk and be talked to, but she hadn't expected amusement. The twitch of R'mer's lips only served to make her smile brighter though she shook her head quickly, "No, she's a barred. She's got these re-ally pretty stripes here," Lifting her hands to above her eyes, Robin continued, maybe he had never seen a barred before, "And she's all silvery, she's hard to keep really clean but that's okay, I love playing with her and bathing her and looking after her."
"Oh you do? D'nor's so nice, he has three flitts, a green but she can't fly very much, and a brown and a barred just like my Sirristh! And his dragon, Laukarth, I call her Laurie cause D'nor does, she's so nice!" Robin had never really cared if anyone wanted to hear what she had to say, though since the older boy was responding to her rapid questions, she figured he wasn't annoyed yet.

R'mer laughed sheepishly. "Sorry. Barreds are pretty. Tinth agrees with me on that."
Although if anything, he thought the blue had a slight preference for chasing greens. "Laukarth is a very pretty green..."
A blue firelizard flitted to land on the table. R'mer reached out to scritch its nearest eyeridge. "Of course, Tinth is the best looking dragon on Pern." To him, the blue was. He felt himself relax. The girl...young as she was to have her dragon...felt like she might be good company.
Company that wouldn't let him get a word in edgewise, but *Tinth* got like that in his more hyper moods.

Robin instantly grinned at him and nodded her head happily, yes, Barreds were pretty, especially hers and she was delighted to hear that his dragon – She assumed that was who Tinth was – thought so too. “She says to thank him for the compliment.” Well, Sirristh assumed it was a vague compliment to her, considering it was her colour they were talking about in the first place. If they were talking about her colour, then in her mind – young as it was – it meant the blue thought she was pretty.
“She is, she’s really bright! It’s really, really bright, I think it’s nice.” Laurie was a nice green too, and D’nor adored her as all riders did, though Robin did agree with the idea that she was slightly spoiled by her rider, well, completely and utterly spoiled.
The moment the firelizard popped in, Robin held out her hand, “Hello beautiful.”

"I think Thunder would prefer to be called handsome. What shade is your Sirristh? I find it hard to keep track of ALL the females."
Tinth, of course, tried. R'mer did rather hope he would not chase Sirristh for a few turns. "Laukarth is one of the brightest greens in the Weyr, I think. Very much the classic shade. Tinth is...a lighter blue, a little grey in places. Sort of steel-ish. And very, very handsome."
Thunder was a medium blue, and he settled to the table, chirping at the girl and tilting an eyeridge towards her. He knew when he was being admired...and might have a chance to be petted.

“Oh, sorry.” Grinning sheepishly at the boy, the girl quickly turned back to cooing at the fire liazard, before blinking at his question and smiling brightly, he was asking about her Sirristh, though she agreed that it was sometimes hard to tell the different greens and barreds apart. She’d never struggled with Sirristh and not with Laukarth, simply because the green was such a blinding shade of green. “She’s a dusky-green, silvery-green type colour. Some people say it looks like her hide his dry, but it’s not. I’m really very careful to oil her properly.”
Nodding along with his comments, she smiled slightly “Laukarth is really bright, she stands out cause of that. And I think I’ve seen Tinth, possibly. I didn’t really get to see dragons much before I Impressed.” Shrugging one shoulder, Robin winced as Ilyna instantly scolded her for displacing her and fluttered down to land next to the other flitter.
Robin instantly reached out a hand to pet him, delighted that there was a flitter that wasn’t bad tempered wanting a pet. Lightly rubbing his eye ridges, she then grinned up at the boy, “He’s so nice!”

"Thunder? He's a decent enough guy," R'mer noted. "Even gets on with Tinth when Tinth is in a bad mood. He's...a rather volatile dragon."
To say the least. It often seemed as if Tinth had no actual personality, but rather acted exactly how he felt like acting at any given time, with neither traits nor tendencies...nor restraint.
He WOULD chase Sirristh. R'mer was sure of that. And he did not want to end up waking up next to so young a female...she was both too young for him (he was more man than boy now, after all, having lost most of his puppy fat in trade for rider muscle) and the wrong sex.
But she would be good, he thought, to have as a friend...although she was not a woman yet, and she might well change as she matured. People did, after all.

"Mm, he's nicer than Ilyna. Ilyna's kinda snappy sometimes, I'd hoped that by naming her after Mama, she'd be nice." Robin didn't tend to think any dragons got in bad moods, so she let the comment pass by without comment, instead reaching out to stroke said green flitt's back and smiling when the green accepted the pet with a slight arch of her back, much like a feline might when petted.
Robin was very far from thinking about flights, at ten, she wasn't even aware of boys in a romantic sense yet, she still thought of boys as either disgusting and immature, or friends, depending on who they were. Sparrow, was both. Depending on her mood. Thus the idea of Tinth even considering chasing Sirristh was a non-existant worry in the little girl's mind, Sirristh didn't even mention the male dragons that way, so Robin didn't have cause to think about it.
Also the idea of growing up? A distant thing, Robin wasn't one to change who she was for the sake of anything, and rather enjoyed the idea of being young and yet a rider. She had so much to learn, and she was simply lucky that she was able to learn it sooner than others. "So why aren't you outside? Playing or something?"

"Don't feel like it and besides Tinth is asleep. He'll probably want a bath when he wakes up."
As would Thunder, but at least the firelizard mostly bathed himself as he helped with Tinth. He was a surprisingly useful little creature.
"You know how that goes...probably more, females tend to be more vain." He was sure her barred liked her hide to be completely spotless.
As for Tinth? It depended, like everything else, on the volatile blue's mood. Sometimes he wished he had a more...normal...dragon, but then, you Impressed the dragon that was right for you.
Which meant this girl had whatever it was barred dragons looked for.

"Oh I don't know, I like playing with Sirristh in the water. She's never demanding though." That may have been because the barred was given everything she wanted though, Robin spoiled her dragon something chronic, though it wasn't delibrate. In her desire not to do anything wrong by her dragon, she gave her all her attention, usually. So when Sirristh wanted a bath, she got one, she didn't need to be demanding.
Honestly Robin didn't know what Sirristh had seen when she'd found her, but she assumed that whatever it was, it was what riders needed. She hoped it wasn't her habit of doing before she thought, that wouldn't be a very good trait to train according to D'nor. Not that she was bothered, Sirristh loved her, and that was enough for Robin any day. She'd never wish for anything else.
"How old are Tinth and Thunder?"

"Tinth is about two turns now, I suppose. Thunder is close to three," R'mer supplied.
He paused. "Playing in the water is fun, although I've generally found getting into water fights with dragons is a bad thing...they tend to win."
He actually grinned at that. "Tinth can be very playful, but Tinth has every personality trait under Rukbat and shows whichever one he feels like. Trust me. I don't know where I found such an...interesting dragon.
In an egg came a lazy, amused Tinth-thought.
R'mer tried not to laugh. Of course, Tinth didn't remember hatching. But R'mer remembered it and Tinth could, of course, simply borrow his rider's memory when he really wanted to.
