With Artemisth happily sleeping off a meal, Salise was left by herself, wandering along the edges of the Weyr lake. Her dragon was a quick, neat eater, and didn't, like some, require Salise to sit and wait and watch while she fed. It was nice, though sometimes she wasn't sure if wandering around alone waiting for her dragon to wake up or waiting on a ledge at the actual Feeding grounds were better. People were equally likely, she figured, to show up at either place.
So for now, it was just quiet Scout for company. He wasn't immensely interested in playing that part at the moment though, and instead was diving in and out of the lake teasing fish. Maybe at some point he would catch one and eat it, but either way, Salise wasn't included in her fire-lizard's occupation either.
It was dull. Salise knew she wasn't great at talking, but that didn't mean she was shy or didn't want company. There was always so much going on at the Weyr, and she had a tendency to get lost in it. She had a little free time now though... may as well make use of it, buck up, and find someone to spend it with.

Transiit had just finished some Weyrling things, and she was now trying to hide from anone that thought a Weyrling would be a good person to do some uninteresting job. She thought that most people would be looking for people like her, closer to where everyone was, she needed to find a good spot to hide.
She had always like the lake, so decided that maybe that was were she would start to search for a good hiding spot, Grrym Wynter hadn't liked the chores and jobs as much as she had hated them... But Grrym had kept with and was now as anxious as her to find a good spot, padding along beside her...
As she had walked around a little while, she spotted a nice sunny spot across the lake, but near some shade in case it got too hot,
Lanth, I am going to go over there, we can relax in the sun, or you can wallow in the lake if you want....
I think I might wallow in the lake, it is a nice day, and then maybe go for a little nap...
Well I am going to sleep, so don't splash me... Have fun
Grrym sprang up to go for a swim with Lanth and Sabz Malih appeared out of nowhere knowing someone was having fun, and fun couldn't be had without her.... Transiit was just drifting off to the sound of splashing...

((Lanth wouldn’t be able to carry his rider in flight yet, but that’s a small enough detail that I’ll just point it out and post myself. xP))
Scout rushed back to Salise’s side when he saw a Teal dragon approaching, accompanied by a rider and a dog. He chattered to his keeper, looking anxiously towards them. Salise laughed and brushed the fire-lizard out of her face.
“I see them, thanks Scout. It’s only a weyrling though, I don’t think they’re going to eat us.” Scout hesitated a moment longer, but when he noticed a a flitter appear over the lake, he zipped away to greet them. Salise, keeping to her original decision, headed towards the rider. This was a weyrling she didn’t know- she didn’t know any from Jorindath’s clutch, really.
She paused again when she noticed the girl lie down. Salise didn’t want to interrupt someone who was napping, but… well, there was still the dog. Maybe it would be friendly. But it was also all wet, and Salise had never been fond of the smell of wet dog. Better opt with the human. While a weyrling herself, Salise had often been (jokingly) reminded by K’laon that the main duty of weyrlings was to be kept so busy by their dragonet and full-fledged riders that that they never slept anyways. That thought brought a smile to her face; these new weyrlings didn’t know how lucky they were to have M’ran was WeyrlingMaster.
“Hey, uh, you’re one of the new weyrlings, right?” She had reached the girl and looked down at her. “Who’s your dragon?”

Transiit was just starting to relax when she heard footsteps... She hoped it would be a smart person, and that they would just walk away, but no, of course not, why would anyone do that?...
“Hey, uh, you’re one of the new weyrlings, right?” “Who’s your dragon?”
Transiit looked up and saw a girl looing down at her... Transiit sighed and sat up
"Yes I am one of the new weyrlings, Teal Lanth is my dragon, and yes you can leave me here at peace if you have nothing else to say..."
She lay back down and closed her eyes, hoping the girl would go away...
Go away go away
Why so unhappy with our visitor? You should make friends, you dont have many...
Yes I do, I have Iindi and... and... well just Iindi but still, AND she interrupted me when I was trying to sleep. Who does that?
Maybe a lot of people do that... And it's not my fault, dont get angry at me, I was just stating the truth, you only have Iindi, you need to make some more friends, it might be good for you...
Yeah, yeah, whatever
Lanth was right. But Transiit wasn't going to go out of her way to make friends... If it happened it happened, that's all there is too it...

Somebody doesn’t like you, Artemisth commented, her tone singsong and teasing. Of course the Barred would wake up in time to hear someone get after Salise.
Obviously I’m helpless without you, she replied sarcastically.
Obviously.
Salise returned her attention to the girl. Teal Lanth… who had Impressed him? Transiit? Best she didn’t guess, in case she got it wrong. Apparently the weyrling wasn’t just resting because she didn’t having anything better to do. “I, uh, alright. Thanks.” Salise turned and headed toward the lake.
That’s not keeping to your goal. Watch out! Salise looked up in time to see Artemisth’s sleek silver-green form streak across the sky and straight into the lake. The Barred didn’t even backwing to slow her dive, and with all the parts of her body pressed tight against her, she slid straight into the center of the water body. Salise stared, hoping Artemisth hadn’t misjudged the depth and gotten herself hurt on the lake floor.
A few moments later, the Barred’s head popped up above the water. Impressive, huh? What’d you think Lanth? Bet you couldn’t pull that off. She swam straight for the young Teal.
Salise had little desire to get wet, and sat down the lakeshore. Artemisth was up and, even worse, had found someone to taunt… no more peace and quiet for her.

Transiit watched as the rider's eyes hazed into the familiar look of someone talking to their dragon...
“I, uh, alright. Thanks.”
"You're welcome..." Transiit replied happily...
She was still watching as the girls barred dove sleekly into the water... She had to admit it was a nice dive, but not to the girls face. Although she assumed Lanth would let the barred know that he thought it was incredibly spectacular, or something like that.
You should be more nice... He commented to Transiit before turning his attention to the barred...
Impressive, huh? What’d you think Lanth? Bet you couldn’t pull that off.
Wow. That was incredibly spectacular... I suppose I couldn't pull that off... Hmm, I haven't tried...
Transiit listened in to her dragons conversation, this could be interesting....

Artemisth looked Lanth over critically. No, I don't think you could do it. Teals were so funny looking. Even the older ones hadn't seemed to grow into their bodies just right.
Be nice, Salise chided. Scout, finally deciding on a fish to eat, flew back to Salise to eat and watch. Artemisth wasn't mean to the little Blue, but she was never necessarily nice either.
Yet, Artemisth added begrudgingly. But I'm glad you like it. Maybe when you're a bit bigger I could show you. Yeah right. If someone wanted to dive smoothly, they could figure it out on their own, surely. If they couldn't, they were hardly worth her time.
Compliments like 'incredibly spectacular' would definitely earn a dragon points though.

Lanth was too entranced by the Barred to have registered that any comment could be meant in a bad way. Although he did hear the fact that the Barred actually might teach him how to do that spectacular stunt.
Oooh, you would teach me? I bet that even with you teaching me, I could never outdo yourself. It was just spectacular... Do you think you could do it again?
Transiit now wasn't in the mood to sit by and do nothing. Now she wanted to go for a swim, but she was unsure whether she could now, with the Barred and hers having a fabulous time. Actually, Lanth was just entranced by the Barred and the Barred was just most likely bored.
She watched as Sabz Malih flew off to taunt the blue flitter which had appeared. The blue most likely looked to the girl. Transiit was unsure of her name... She didn't know the dragons name either...
Lanth could you ask the Barred what her riders name is... And what hers is, I would like to know some people's name in the Weyr, even if I dont have any thought of actually talking to them...
Only if you say sorry for being so incredibly rude...
WHAT!!! Why do I have to say sorry?
Because you want to know what her name is...
Transiit sat grumbling, she really wanted to know the girls name, now that it had been denied to her...
Maybe if I wait to see how this pans out, I wont even have to speak...
Lanth snorted at the stubborness of his rider

Artemisth glanced at Salise with a 'what in the world am I doing here' sort of look. Hatchlings. Were this a mature dragon, she wouldn't mind the annoyance around the praise, but Lanth was still too young. He was simply ignorant. Maybe, she told the Teal.
She still wasn't horribly interested in teaching him anything. And I'm sure I could do it again, but I'd rather not. No reason to go launching out of the water only to repeat her entrance. Once again, someone as young as Lanth wasn't worth the showing off.
Scout looked unsure what to do when the Green fire-lizard approached him, and glanced uncertainly between his fish and her. Did he share? Did he guard it? Was she even hungry?
Salise glanced back towards the weyrling girl. She was looking more alert now, but Salise had been a bit unnerved by their initial encounter and didn't, despite her previous goal, want to go and try a second time to strike up a conversation. Instead she stood on the lakeshore, just as uncertain as Scout, watching Artemisth.

When Sabz was close enough to the blue firelizard she set herself down on the ground to watch. She knew that the blue had a fish, and at the moment she wasn't in the mood for one. Deciding to let the blue make the first move, she waited....
Lanth was unpreturbed by the Barred not wanted to do her amazing trick again, he didn't really mind. He had seen it once and that was all there was to it. Now he had something to try towards as he got older and more, able.
Now bored of just sitting there, and really wanting to know the riders name, she got up, not wanting to, but knowing that she would have to if she wanted to achieve anything, and made her way over to the lakeshore, to where the girl was standing... She decided to keep it short and simple, not really caring if the girl woulf think she was abrupt or not, everyone else thought she was anyways, what was one more?
"Okay, all I want to know is your name, because I have no idea what it is...."
She didn't really want to continue to have a conversation with the rider, but it could give her something to do now...

Anxious under the female's gaze, Scout opted for the probably the least attractive of his options. He clumsily swallowed the fish, licked his chops, and chirped brightly to her. Well hello, I didn't see you there.
Artemisth, meanwhile, hunkered low in the water. After lying in the sun, sleeping off her meal, the cold lake was a welcome change on her hide. Lanth was apparently done bothering her, and so for a few moments she would go back to relaxing. She couldn't help but notice the girl who had so rudely brushed off her rider earlier now approaching Salise though.
Lanth's seems to have decided to continue your conversation, Artemisth warned.
Salise turned as the girl spoke to her, a bit surprised to see her up, a bit nervous... but it was only a question about her name. Not spoken as nicely as it could have been, but she could deal with it. "I'm, uh, Salise. What's yours?"
The weyrling had failed to mention it earlier, anyways.

Sabz chirped back at the blue after his clumsy gulping of his fish. Waste of good fish, he didn't savour the flavour... Well I saw you, and I want to play! Sabz Malih chirped again at the male before casting herself into the air and letting the updrafts take her, up, up, up. Before diving back down, spinning around the blue.
While Sabz was having fun, Lanth decided to leave Artemisth to do what she will as he tried to occupy himelf by diving as far down to the bottom of the lake as he could and gradually just randomly spinning around in the water making him dizzy.
Grrym Wynter sensed the alertness of Transiit and slunk back to her side. Transiit buried her hands deep into the think fur of her wolf-like puppy. She decided to answer Salise as she has nothing else to do at the moment.... "Transiit. My name is Transiit. And this is Grrym Wynter," she guestered at Grrym, "that is Sabz Malih, "And you already know Lanth... Erm, is that blue yours?" She looked over at the firelizard occupying Sabz attention...

Scout jumped into the air after the Green, and then squawked in mock surprise when he saw her suddenly come spinning back towards him. He pushed upwards and then looped back, and was now diving towards her.
Artemisth watched Lanth with a jaded interest, not sure what the young Teal was up to and not about to join him either. The Barred preferred aerial games over submerged ones.
Salise nodded as Transiit introduced herself and her pets. She sure had complicated names for them. It was lucky Lanth’s was short, to make up for it. “Yeah, that’s Scout.” She glanced at the Blue, but he was still playing with Sabz and not paying Salise any attention. “Your dog is cute,” she added. Salise had never had her own dog, but there had still been plenty around when she was growing up. She liked them.
