Yorath Out a Stalking

A still small green dragon slithered along the ground almost snake like. She would move through the dying grass, pausing every so often to try and hide. While her rider K’yte would spend his free time making pretty pictures, Yorath would watch other creatures. Lately she had taken to watching the felines that would prowl around. While K’yte was taking a nap, Yorath had decided that she would head out into the weyrbowl and find something, or better yet someone, to hunt after like the felines did.

The dragon stopped again and poked her head up a little higher. Yorath looked around, trying to spot a target she could go after, hopefully one that was close by. It wasn’t likely that K’yte would sleep for long and sooner or later his little firelizard Renly would ruin all of her fun.

Nearbye was a curled up blue dragon whom had been enjoying sunning during the day and was now just relaxing and letting his rider do the same. Normally he would have drapped his wing over the sleeping form of the young man that he was curled around, but this time things where not that way. The blue dragon softly open his eyes and soft rumbbled with laugther at the sight of the cute little green playing around in the grass. It was quite a silly sight to see, but then again weyrlings where always fun to wacth for the dragon. He sometimes liked to act like that even now, though it seemed to be more clusmy now that he was older.

Nelth was wondering if he should wake up And'l and let him know that there was someone near by to talk to. Topaz and Leaf where already over near K'yte and where flying around him inculding landed on his head which was what Leaf did, and Topaz diecded that he liked the shoulder even better than that. The young bluerider continued to sleep though his usally dream land which inculded his dragon and his firelizards. Things where so good when he slept. Nelth though just wacthed the little green, wondered what she would do.

Ahh there was a blue dragon. Ohh but better yet was the sleeping rider near him. Yorath gave the blue dragon a look that she hoped said ‘be quiet!’ before she start to make her way closer. Wiggle, slither, squirm, pause, wiggle, slither, squirm, pause. If someone watched the dragon long enough that might even be able to tell that she was trying to move like a feline. It became even more noticeable when Yorath got close to And’l. The green dragons lower half suddenly stuck up a bit, her rear and tail wiggling back and forth before she suddenly pounced and landed right next to And’l, sticking her green face right up against him.

Nelth wacthed the sence of the little green whom was getting closer and closer. The blue's rumbles of laugther got a little louder, but he kept them suppressed becuase he did not want to be the one to spoil the little greens fun.... besides he knew that And'l would get a kick out of what was about to happen anyway. Plus the fact the blue's lifemate would probably end up supirsing the green. So the blue dragon just stayed very still so as not to wake And'l, plus he made sure to slowly move his tail out of the way of the little green so that she would have pently of room to get to And'l and be able to do to him what he was figuring that the weyrling planned on doing.

Andol lay there surronded by clouds in the land of dreams. It seemed to him as though he was flying though Nelth was not involed with the flying. It was just him, that was in the clouds, and he was sleeping on one of the clouds. Yet this entire dream was intruppted when a large green dragon head appered right out of the sky and got stright in his face, causing him to fall out of the clouds.... this simply caused the young man to wake up. To what he saw was a green weyrling with it's head right in his face. His eyes grew wide and he did not move as his heart skipped a bit as he was frightened. Yet that soon passed... and he just did not do anything for a moment before he looked at the little dragon and then all of a sudden reached forward and wrapped his arms around the green's neck and said, "Hello there little one... how are you today." He contiuned his hug while he spoke and didn't really let go, becuase it felt so good to be hugging a dragon that was small again.

Nelth wacthed the sence with complete amusement before looking around to see if maybe he could spot the weyrling nearbye whom the dragon belonged to. Maybe it would be someone who And'l could be friends with.... that would be nice for his rider to have more friends. Leaf and Topaz though found the rider first though... the pair of firelizards flew down and landed on K'yte, with Leaf landing on his head, and she looked down into his eyes... while Topaz sat on his shoulder and nuzzled against his cheek. The pair was not sure if they had the right person, but that really did not seem to matter sinice they where sure that if this was not the right person then they could just try and bribe the man to maybe give them some food.... that could be nice.

The green dragon didn’t seem to notice that Nelth had already spotted her. It all went to her little dragon ego that she was just that good at stalking around. Her eyes lit up at the scared look on And’l’s face when he first woke up. Then she let out a little dragony shriek of surprise as arms wrapped around her neck in a hug.

Mine! Help! I’ve been caught!

K’yte let out a snort as he slept, blinking slowly and trying to wake his grogy mind up at his dragons call of distress. One eyebrow quirked up as he realized there was a green face in his sight, a face that was far too small to be Yorath’s. He also felt something rubbing up against his cheek. He sat up suddenly, a bit startled by the two rather cuddly lizards and looked around to try and spot his own drake. It was easy to see the trail of flattened grass that Yorath had made, and after giving the two fire lizards a pat he started to follow it.

A few minutes later he came upon And’l, Nelth, and his own Yorath, and let out a little chuckle at the sight. He fixed his pony tail and tried to wipe the sleep from his eyes as he walked over to the group.
“Heh, sorry about Yorath, she snuck off while I was catching a quick nap. Hopefully she hasn’t gotten into too much trouble with you.”
K’yte looked between dragon and rider, figuring that Yorath hadn’t done anything too bad since neither looked angry or upset.
“You know, if you want to keep her you can, you look quite comfy with her neck in your arms.”
He smirked a bit as Yorath started to protest and squirm her way out of And’l’s grip, quickly rushing over to K’yte to press her head up against his leg in a sign of affection.

And'l giggled with delight in a unashasmed manner at the little dragons squeek of supirse. He found it to be quite cute actually, and it reminded him of the way that Nelth used to be when he was younger. A little cute and cuddly weyrling... though even now And'l still considered his dragon to be cute and cuddly, though these thoughts only came in those moments they spent alone together when the young man felt that he could let himself be more vulnerable. Yet for some reason though he let that same feeling spread over himself right now, sinice he did not yet see the rider of little one anywhere in sight at the moment. He said to the cute, "You sure are cute aren't you?" He smiled a bit until he heard Nelth give a soft warning, Mine I think her rider is here...

And'l looked out of the cornor of his eye around the green weyrling to see it's rider approching them. Amusingly the man was decked out in both of his firelizards who seemed to have found the right person to hang onto and cuddle. When the other spoke And'l just smiled abit and purposefully tightened his hug on the little dragon saying, "Oh don't worry about that... it was nice to be woken to the sight of having such a pretty little green in my face." His voice spoke in an affectionate manner which showed that he indeed told the truth. The young man was indeed comforntable holding the young dragon, but before he could say anything she squirmed away which left a pout on his face as he sat up into a more comforntable postion against his dragon.

Looking at Leaf and Topaz he shook his head with a soft sigh, "Those two didn't wake you up form a nap I hope... they can be annoying somtimes when you are trying to sleep and I hope they are not bothering you know?" He giggled again at the sight, and was not sure why but Topaz and Leaf just seemed to look a bit more silly on this particualar rider, "So what is your name?............ Mine is And'l... and that is Leaf and Topaz." He pointed to each respectivly and before he could say anything his dragon said to green rider, My name is Nelth... it is a pleasure to meet you.

K'yte rolled his eyes a little hearing that Yorath had woken the other man up. The green sent her rider an image of And'l's startled face before she snickered, her back half wiggling happily. Yorath could be such a brat at times but he still loved her, she never tried to do anything bad, she just liked to push things a little and see how far she could take her jokes. K'yte absentmindedly pet his dragon, Yorath's head pushing hard against the hand as she enjoyed the attention.

"Eh? Oh no, the little ones didn't wake me up, just gave me a surprise when I did. The lovely little brat woke me up, not that I mind too much. I should be working on something instead of napping anyways." K'yte gave the little lizards a pat as he was introduced to them and the young man.

"I'm K'yte, the dragon is Yorath and some where there's a brown firelizard named Renly. He was suppose to be keeping an eye on Yorath too." K'yte frown a little as he wondered where Renly had wandered off to but didn't worry about it too much. The little guy was smart and had never gotten lost before.

Yorath's chest puffed out as she was introduced to them and she looked up at Nelth, inspecting the dragon over.
Hello Nelth! Thanks for not waking your rider on me, he was pretty silly when he first woke up.

And'l faceplamed with a soft laugh saying, "Be careful what you say... now I think you have just given those two permission to give you a wake up call anytime they think I need someone to talk to.... they will be looking for you." He was obviously joking around, but there was a little truth to his voice becuase Leaf and Topaz had a habit of doing those kinds of things. Yet they always ment well whenever they did it sincie it was always just to help out there And'l. It was then that a look crossed And'l's face as he crawled over to where the green was and gave her another hug and said, "Aww don't call this really cute green a brat.... she is just being cute. Aren't you Yorath?" Typcial And'l to try and butter up the dragon to become good friends with it.

Nelth jokingly said to K'yte Might want to wacth out or else Mine might really steal her away. The blue of course was only joking. That was when And'l curiously looked up at K'yte and said, "Why don't you sit down.... I mean your the only one who is not attempting to relax... oh and you mentioned that you where working on somthing, might I ask what it was that my two little bundles of mischief happen to intruppt." He then seemed to pause for a moment before he said, "Can I meet your firelizard too.... Can I hold him?" The last question seemed a little premettive, but And'l asked it anyway.

The two flitters stayed where they where until they deicded that they wanted to play with Yorath. So the two flew down and found themselves some purches on the little green and chriped at her... wondering what she was going to do. They preffered to not be chased around and liked the more cuddly dragons like Nelth, but if Yorath wanted a game of chase she would ceritanly get one. They where pretty good at it.. sinice the two where a mating pair they chased each other all the time.

Nelth let out a rumble of laugther as he looked at the little green who was puffing out her chest. He liked the way this little one acted and was about to say somthing before And'l reminded him with a sentance, Nelth now don't go robbing the sands. The dragon rumbled with laugther at the statment which was just a shared joke in bettewen the two. Yet the blue did find the weyrling to be silly... then again he did enjoy all the weyrlings, You are welcome, Mine needs to have some fun every now and then so I was gald to help.... if you want to sneak up on him more just let me know when and where I will be gald to help The blue let out a laugh becuase he always felt And'l needed some cheering up every now and then, so this was his new way of doing it sinice it seemed his rider enjoyed this little green.

"Oh Shards you're going to get her going..."
Yorath found a way to inflate herself even more, or maybe it was just her ego that got bigger.
See? If he says I'm not a brat then it must be true. You're the only one who thinks I'm a brat. Everyone else looooves me mine.
If the dragon could stick her tongue out she would have. K'yte just snorted back some laughs and tried to keep a serious look on his face.
"Oh no, not a brat at all. She's a very well behaved dragon, never getting herself into trouble."

K'yte glanced up at the blue, one eyebrow raising slightly. As far as he knew it wasn't often that dragons spoke to other riders. Not that K'yte seemed to mind. He just glanced and And'l and took a seat before shaking his head a little.
"Oh they didn't interrupt me. I just dozed off for a while. I should be trying to finish a painting, I've got half a dozen of them half done, but I just keep getting new ideas that I have to try." he shrugged a little and pulled his legs under him to sit cross legged.
"And I'm not sure where Renly is. I'm starting to think he must be in the kitchen getting into things he shouldn't be. And it'll be all up to Renly if you can hold him or not. He's a brown but seems to think he's a bronze, likes to act all high and mighty."

Yorath went a little cross eyed (or as cross eyed as a dragon can get) as she watched the firelizards. Her tail twitched back and forth, another habit she had unknowingly picked up from the felines, and K'yte gave her head a flick, knowing that the green wanted to pounce and the firelizards. A look was exchanged between rider and dragon before Yorath sulked a bit and plopped down on the ground. She stretched her wings out before she tried to bat lightly at one of the firelizards.

Ohh? Yous won't mind me sneaking up on him again? Mine says I shouldn't do that to others, they might get mad about it. Especially if it's a queen rider, they're super cranky mine says.[/i]

And'l realized that he was indeed working at buttering up the young dragon that was there in front of him. Though he did not know what she was saying if anything. The words of her rider and the way she seemed to be puffing out more just told him all the story that he needed to know about how good he was doing at giving out compliments. "Of course she is well behaved... she was nice egough to come over and give me a wake up call." He thought for a moment on how he could just inflate the ego of the little green even more sense that was his goal. He knew that such a thing would make him a long time friend in the little dragon and through that maybe even the rider, "Plus she is the cutest dragon I have ever seen...." Oh yeah... he was really laying it on thick.

Nelth noticed when the other seemed to be supirsed with him speaking to him and quickly added to let the other know that he better be prepared for a comman occurance, Mine is talking to you K'yte.... so please tell me why should I not want to talk to you ethier. You seem like a nice person and so is Yorath so please tell why I should not... He could not see any. And'l could tell by the supirse on the other male's face what had jsut happened adn he laughed alittle, "Ahh so I see that you just learned that the big guy here is a socialable one.... trust me when I say that me and him do not share that trait, but it is probably just the dragon making up for the weakness of the rider." The blue nuzzled his rider saying. Well someone has to.

The young man seemed to perk up a bit when he heard that the other made paintings... now that was somthing that took intellecent. He had always respected that trait especiall when it came to the more scholarly purusits. "Ohh really well you will have to show those too me if you can? I would really like to see them if it would not be too much trouble to go and get them. I always liked to look at the nice artistic rendering in the various books that I read. Are you really good?" He didn't wait for a answer when the mention of the firelizard was brought up and he quickly asked in a almost child like manner, "Can you call him... though I am sure about the bronze and acting proud thing.... Topaz is very big for bronze and could get himself a queen, but seems prefectly happy with Leaf for a weyrmate." Both flits chriped as there names where mentioned.

The two little firelizards chriped at the green when she gave them looks but did not pounce them. This immdantly caused a postive reaction which received a chrip form them both. It was a loving chrip and the two even nuzzled there heads into the nearest pacth of skin they could find. They where starting to like Yorath as much as And'l and Nelth. Even the little swip only caused Topaz to dodge and chrip curiously. Nelth said to the little green, Well I am not sure that he doesn't mind.... but I can promise Mine won't get mad. I will tell him it is my fault... he needs to enjoy himself more and I think you can help with that.... spends too much time worrying about stuff and it makes him sad. The blue even sounded sad as he spoke the last part.

K’yte just rolled his eyes a bit, wondering what all this ego stroking that And’l was doing was going to do to Yorath. Not that he minded really, he liked seeing his green happy and most of the time she was a sweet thing. And thankfully she didn’t have a very good memory either, after a few days she’d stop bragging about all the complements and find something else to focus in on.

The rider looked up at the blue and gave a little shrug.
“Well I’ve never heard of dragons talking to anyone else unless they were one of those HAD’s, guess I just sort of thought that most dragons couldn’t talk to anyone else really.” He chuckled a little and And’l and a little smirk rose to his lips.
“Well I would currently disagree with that And’l, you seem pretty social to me. At least so far.”

K’yte just smiled and laughed a little as And’l went from asking about his art to asking about Renly in the same breath.
“I was in artist hall so I was good enough for that. And you’re free to come by and look at some of the stuff I’ve done if you want. And Renly’s a little upset with me, he hasn’t been getting as much attention now that I have Yorath and have to spend most of my time taking care of her and doing weyrling lessons. But don’t worry, he’ll show up when he’s ready. He’s either eating right now or taking a bath.”

Yorath had mostly stopped listening to the humans talk. When she heard her name she would pause and listen for a moment before she got bored and would go back to swiping and playing with Topaz and Leaf. They were much more fun then Renly was; Renly would get all grouchy if she tried to play with him. Renly was more interested in preening himself and acting like a bronze.
What does he worry about that makes him sad? He should just go out and have fun when he gets like that. Everyone should do stuff that makes them happy instead of stuff that makes them upset.[/color]

The blue let out a rumble of laugther, Of course we can talk to other people, not just HADs.... besides Mine says that HADs are sneaky little spies and it makes him mad if I talked to one so I don't, it is simply that most of us typically don't. I just choose to do so becuase it helps out my And'l and it is just fun.... besides the fact I chose to talk to you shows how much we like you right?.... When And'l noticed that the other was willing to socialize with his Nelth this only made him smile, becuase of how much he knew that the blue enjoyed being talked to. Though a smirked crossed his face and he reached over to hug the little green again saying, "Well the only reason for that is... that you have the cutest little ice breaker that I have ever seen." Again he was back to stroking the green dragons ego.

He perked back up again when the other started to talk about his art... he found that his resepct for this green rider was growing becuase of his obvious intellegance. Plus a skill like being able to paint art in such a manner.... this was diffently someone he could have as a friend, "Well maybe if want to we could go and look at your art that you have been making... or do you need to stay near Yoarth... I remember there was a time peroid where you do need to stay within eyesight of your dragon. Becuase if you can leave her here.... Nelth is a good babysitter." It was obivious the blue was starting to enjoy the company of the green.

When he heard that the brown didn't want to come and see him he pouted for a bit before saying, "Oh well his loss... I am sure Leaf would have loved to see a cute brown." Now he was trying to entice the brown to come hoping the message would go through K'yte to Renly. The two firelizards contiuned to play with the green and where even landing in fornt of her and enticing her to try and get them. Nelth was never this much fun, the blue never seemed to want to play around as much as he did when he was weyrling, and even then the blue had spent to much of his time babying there pet. Not that there was anything wrong with that, but they had wished the blue would play with them.

The blue diecded to tell the little green about And'l's problems and so he explained, Well he gets worried somtimes when he goes out and talks to other people... crowds make him esaily nervous. Then he always worries somthing might happen to me or to Topaz and Leaf. The things he likes to do to have fun seem to not do a good job of distracting him form what makes him sad.... Plus there is the thing that makes him the most sad. He paused for a moment wondering wetheir the green would even understand or even care... some dragons had been judgemental and told him to just force it on And'l... Yet he knew what that would cause and so he didn't do it.

His voice sounded sad as he spoke... the main reason was becuase it wasn't esay to do what he did for his bonded, but he did becuase he wanted And'l to be happy and not scared all the time. You see he is also scared everytime a green rises and it seems like I will chase. I think he is so scared of me cacth the dragon of someone he doesn't know or want fly with that it just makes him really scared.... plus the fact he is still a virgin and has never flown with anyone before... so that also makes him scared... becuase he doesn't want me to have contorl over his madian flight. So I usally just drop out so I don't win and then protect him form anyone who might take advantage of him. The blue let out a dragonic version of a sigh and wondered if it had all gone over the greens head. He never normally spilled his guts like that to any dragon he didn't know very well so he didn't know the results.

“Wait, you can talk to anyone but HAD’s just because HAD’s can talk to you in the more normal way? That just seems odd to me. But I’ve never even met a HAD before, though I heard there was one here some where.” The green rider just shrugged a little. It was odd to hear Nelth’s voice in his mind, it was a nice voice in his head and it lacked the personal and emotional bound that K’yte shared with his own drake.

“Hm? Oh, no I shouldn’t be leaving Yorath alone yet. And well even if I could, I still probably wouldn’t want to. She’s my baby after all, the thought of not knowing that she’s just a small distance away from me is kind of scary really. But if you really want to see some of my pictures and other things then I’m sure you’ll be able to sooner or later, before Yorath took up all my time I spent most of it just making stuff. I send some of it back to Artist Hall a few times a turn so they can either display it or sell it or do whatever they want with it.”

K’yte could only shrug to And’l. Renly was a picky lizard, he would show up when he was good and ready. The brown was just upset that he now had to share space with Yorath and would get stuck helping K’yte watch the green when she decided to make trouble.
“Keep saying stuff like that and he’ll only take longer to show himself. He’ll have to wash and preen himself before he can meet another firelizard. Renly’s like a person in the fact that he likes to make a good first impression.”

Yorath just let out a dragon snort as she batted at the green and bronze as they landed in front of her.
Renly’s just boring. He doesn’t like to play or anything.[/color]
She paused in her playing a little as Nelth spoke to her, able to sort of understand why And’l didn’t care for crowds. If there were so many people and dragons around then no one would be able to see her and praise her. And’l probably was like that too. Yorath didn’t fully understand half of what Nelth told her next though. She was still too young to fully understand flights and what they meant. And she was still young enough to think that most boys, dragon and rider, were stupid.
Yuck, I can’t blame him for not liking flights. Who’d want to do those anyways. They sound gross and boys are icky too. Flights sound stupid too. I’ll play chase up in the sky when ever I want to. Then I’ll be better then all the others. I won’t make people wait to have fun and play games.[/color]

And'l could overheard what was being said bettewen Nelth and K'yte and he raised his eyebrow a bit... which only caused him to to figure that he probably needed to explain, before Nelth did it for him. Which usally never turned out to well, but again the blue beat him to it... Well I think it is simply that Mine does not like the idea of anyone but him being able to talk to me in the normal way. He simply enjoys what we are doing this way, but he just doesn't like the abilites that HADs have... his opintion as always been just silly in my opintion though he quite stubborn so I just don't talk to any HADs... The blue tried to not make his bonded mad plus it was more that he was respecting And'l's opintion.

The young man nodded his head in understanding. He knew how the other felt becuase he had been the same way with Nelth. He still somtimes did not like to leave Nelth alone... simply becuase the big guy was so close to him and that the blue was one of those things that was too good to be true, in the way that I good dream was. It seemed that all he would have to do is to turn around and then Nelth would be gone. He knew this would never happen, becuase Nelth and his own death would be on the same day, "It is fine, I would rather you stay close to Yorath. She is such a sweet little dragon I would not want anything to happen to her. I used to be the same way with Nelth anyway."

He was starting to realize that he would not be able to see the brown firelizard. This idea made him sad, becuase he thought that maybe Topaz and Leaf would enjoy meeting Renly... even though he was sure that the other firelizard was probably a arrogent one. The young man's fair kinda had a way of taking firelizards like that and making them playful... etheir that or Topaz would end up annoying him, "Well that is fine... I just wanted him to come and meet my fair... sinice they are the playful type and like to meet new firelizards."

Nelth let out a rumble of laughter at the little greens words. It was funny how her words made the blue feel so much better, he really liked this little green. His tail came around and rubbed over Yorath's head. He really liked this little green... becuase she seemed like a fun creature. I think you are right... they do seem gross, but for him I think it simply finding the right person to chase around. You know like having somone you like to play with more than any others, but Mine has never been able to find anyone like that. Sadly...

K’yte shrugged a little at hearing And’l’s reasons for not liking Nelth to talk to HAD’s. It still seemed a little odd, especially since Nelth was such a social dragon but to each their own. He normally talked to Yorath out loud after all, he liked actually being able to hear part of the conversation even if it was his own voice.
“Well it might be a little bit silly but that’s how people are. We all have our funny little quirks that make us who we are. And if you don’t mind it then I’m sure any HAD’s would respect your wishes.”

K’yte snorted a bit at the thought of anything happening to Yorath. He wasn’t worried about the dragon really, it was other people he feared for. Yorath was a good girl but she liked to do her own thing. And she had that terrible dragon memory and would forget little things, or at least she said she had forgotten them. The last thing he wanted was for his little green to go bug some big gold and get squished, either by accident or out of anger.
“I think that’s how every weyrling is. We’re just like new parents, always worrying about our little babies.”

“And don’t worry about Renly, he’ll show up when he’s ready. I try to give him some free time since he’s always good about helping me with my paints and other materials. He might be a little stuck up but he’s smart and has a good memory when it comes to tools and where they are. Though he’s not the most playful thing, he’s never spent a lot of time around other fire lizards. He tries to join in on flights but that’s about it really.”
Renly was a special lizard, not just because he was K’yte’s. The fire lizard just seemed so serious compared to most of the others he saw. But during his time at the artist hall, a serious flitt had been perfect. K’yte’s room may have been a bit of a mess but his supplies were always in perfect order, thanks in part to Renly.

Well, tell yours to stop being like that and to just find someone to play with. I know some riders can be dumb but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with them. Kind of like the little cousins. They’re dumber then we are but they’re still fun to chase after.
Yorath scampered to the side of Nelth’s tail as it came down on her head, finding it distracting as she was trying to catch Leaf. Her haunches wiggles back and forth a few times before she made a clumsy pounce at the fire lizard.
