Evenmeal was done with, but T'mar had not bothered to leave the dining hall. Flower was curled on his lap, and he was absently petting the kagen. There was no sign of his firelizard.
Likely, the bronze had gone into the kitchen in search of scraps. Freyjath dozed on her ledge, a quiet presence in his mind. Part of why he did not want to leave was that he did not want to disturb her. Nor could he face the long climb through the passageways and stairwells to their weyr.
Besides. He did not have dawn sweeps or early drills tomorrow. He could stay up a little longer, although his eyebrows drooped. If somebody did not disturb the young greenrider soon, he would be sleeping somewhere rather less comfortable than his bed. (Or his dragon's couch, another place T'mar was known to wake up).
Droop, droop...close.

D’mian walked into the dining hall, taking a quick look around and letting out a small, happy sigh. It was quiet in here and there didn’t seem to be anyone else around. No, he took that back, there was one young man who looked like he was sleeping in his seat. The new rider stood there for a moment, watching the boy as he debated turning around. He then scowled a little to himself, he wasn’t going to let himself leave just because there was someone else here. And Pangth would never stop teasing him if he let himself be intimated by some kid. Sure his hands still trembled a little but that was easy to deal with.
The blue rider slipped into the kitchen, speaking with one of the weyrfolk that was still cleaning up in there. He came out a few minutes later, a glass of water in one hand and a plate with a sandwich on it in the other. After a moments thought he walked over to the table with the young man and took a seat across from him, making a little noise as he set his things down and took a seat. “You know, you should probably go to your room if you want to sleep.”

T'mar's eyes shot open. "I probably should."
It took him a long moment to place the bluerider...of course, any bluerider or brownrider was a potential...interest.
"It's...D'ian, right?" Confusing his blueriders, which might be another symptom of how tired the young greenrider was...not much more than a weyrling, this one, with a green knot and rumpled clothing.
Flower was not with him, but his bronze abruptly appeared from between and settled to his shoulder, chirping something in firelizard.
"...not right in my ear, Trouble. Please." The name should be enough warning for D'mian to give this particular firelizard something of a wider berth than he normally might...
Or maybe not.

D'mian took a sip of water as the kid blinked and woke up slightly. "No, close though. D'mian. Still some what new here. I uh haven't gone out of my way too much to start meeting other people." He gave a weak little smile before he busied himself with his sandwich. He could hear Pangth's snickering in his head, teasing him for being so nervous around a kid that had to be half his age. "So uh what are you still doing up if you're about to fall asleep in your seat there?"
He blinked a few times as the firelizard popped up next to T'mar, raising his eyebrow slightly at the name of the creature. "Should I even ask what that lizard did to earn a name like Trouble?"

"Hatched," T'mar said wryly. "Believe me...he's always been Trouble. Usually the fun kind, at least. I'm amazed he isn't carrying some poor kitchen worker's earring or necklace."
The bronze chirped indignantly, but wrapped his tail around the greenrider's neck. "And I know. I'm trying to find the energy to make it up to my weyr."
Which was, of course, hardly on the lowest levels... "So...which blue is yours?" The knot said blue, so did something about the manner...there was that slight, shy uncertainty that T'mar tended to associate with blueriders. Was probably why he had not got one.
HE was not shy.

He nods a bit, keeping an eye on the firelizard. "Well that explains why the workers were a little jumpy when I went in there. At least he has fun kinds of trouble, though I think I'm glad I've never picked one up..." He shook his head a little and finished his sandwich.
D'mian frowned a little wondering how the kid knew he flew a blue before he remembered that he was actually wearing the knot. He ran a hand through his hair and glanced up, looking to where he knew his dragon to be. "His name is Pangth, small blue dragon who talks a lot more then I do." He squinted a little as he took in the knot the kid wore. "So you're a green rider?" It was good to know that there were some male green riders here. At least it wouldn't be so awkward if Pangth joined in on a Flight and caught some of the greens. "And uh, you mind if I ask how old you are? It's just been awhile since I've seen young riders."

OOC: I reckon he's, what, sixteen or seventeen by now?
"Sixteen," T'mar supplied.
The bluerider was, of course, too old for him...although that would not matter if their dragons happened to join in lust. "My lady is Freyjath," he added. "She's a very pale colored green...on the rim right now, sunning."
Of course, he could pick her out of a crowd...some holdbred thought green dragons all looked the same. He had learned that was as foolish a statement as all bay runners looking the same...of course, he'd met people who believed *that*, too.
"And I have a kagen, but I convinced her to stay in my weyr today. I think she might be showing signs of coming into heat, but I'm not sure..."

D’mian gave a little nod hearing the kids age, so he was slightly older then he had pegged him at. It was still just so strange for the blue rider to see so many young people with so few older ones around. So far he had been the oldest person he at seen at the weyr. It just seemed so strange to him after what he had grown up with.
He shook himself out of his thoughts and gave the young man a small smile. “I don’t think I’ve seen your Freyjath yet but I’ll have to keep an eye out for her, she sounds like a very nice color of green. And I’m sure she sounds out in a crowed.”
D’mian raised an eyebrow as T’mar brought up his kagen, never having heard of the creatures before. “You have a what now? A kagen? What are those anyways?”

"They're small, furry, and cute," T'mar noted. "But they also don't move very fast or go between, or I'd call her to show you."
Inviting the older bluerider up to his weyr might well be taken entirely the wrong way. "Flower is completely adorable...she's sort of a pinkish-orange color. There's likely to be another litter around here fairly soon, too, if you want one. They don't Impress, exactly, but they're very loyal."
He didn't know how else to explain the kagen to this strange bluerider...where had he come from. The rogues? He didn't seem to really know what was what yet. Well, he'd learn.

"Ah they sound like nice things. I'll probably end up passing on them though. Pangth tends to be enough of a handful for me, the thought of having to chase after him, and some uh small kagen thing or a firelizard just doesn't seem like fun. And with the sort of luck that I have I'd get something that deserves the name trouble as well." He shook his head a little, just picture what sort of pets he would end up with if he ever tried to get one. But it was good to have the little creatures around, it at least gave riders something to think about and to take care of when they weren't busy with their dragons.
"Your Flower sounds very nice though, and if those kagen are kept as pets here then I'm sure I'll see one sooner or later." The blue gave T'mar a little smile, suddenly feeling awkward. Heck, maybe he would get some kind of pet after all. They always seemed to be good for conversations, people could talk for hours about how cute or how funny their pets were.
D'mian blinked a few times and realized he had just been sitting there with a blank look on his face. He gave the green rider a little half smile and cleared his throat, trying to think of something to say, something that would be slightly better then asking about the weather. Not that he could come up with anything... "So uh what's the weather like here? Are the summers really hot? Er winters, it's fall here now, not spring..."

OOC: Umm. Slight issue, because I'm an idiot. Flower IS here...or was in the first post. Which shall we go with?

T'mar chuckles. "Well...I have the two of them and a *green*."
He felt it safe to say it...Freyjath was fast asleep. "Although, she's not the most typical green...not as flirty and flighty. She's actually rather shy."
Which was more a blue trait than a green one, on the whole, now that he thought about it. But she was his Freyjath, his perfect dragon...he had recognized her the moment she had hatched. "Summers are...fairly hot. Winter's not so bad."

D'mian let out a little snort of laughter. Greens did tend to be a handful, though it was interesting to hear that Freyjath wasn't as flirty as most greens. It was kind of cute to picture a shy green dragon really. "I only have my blue and he's bad enough for me. He's a rather social dragon with a big mouth that can get him in trouble. I have a hard enough time trying to apologize to everyone he offends. If I had to go around after adventurous firelizards as well I'd never get a moment of peace to myself."
He was like T'mar though in knowing that his dragon was perfect for him. Turns of having no one but Pangth had made the bound between dragon and rider even stronger. D'mian would be one of those riders who couldn't survive a day if he lost his dragon.
"Well at least winters aren't bad. I don't know if I'll be looking forward to the summers though. Neither Pangth nor I care much for the heat. Though my dislike is mostly due to Pangth being whiny and cranky when he's too hot. At least the weather so far has been nice. Fall was always my favorite time of the year."

T'mar considered that. "If he whines about being too hot, tell him to go jump in the lake."
He'd say that to Freyjath. And besides, dragons liked water, at least all of the ones he knew. Trouble tried to get his head...and shoulders...into T'mar's pocket.
"Trouble, there is nothing in that pocket..."
The firelizard came out with a sixteenth mark, taking off with it in his jaws.
"...you could possibly want. Shard it, Trouble, give that back!"
Of course, his owner's frantic request for the mark's return...was enough incentive for the bronze to flit off and try and hide behind D'mian. (He left a wingtip sticking out).

"That'll be easier to do here. I'm half hoping that with more dragons and people around he'll be less whiny over all." D'mian raised his eyebrow slightly as Trouble started to climb into T'mar's pocket. He rested his elbow on the table and cupped his chin as he watched, using the fingers of his hand to hide the smirk on his lips as the firelizard came out of T'mar's pocket with a mark.
D'mian held still as the firelizard tried to hide behind him, slowly trying his head to look back at the bronze. "Ohh no, I'm not going to protect you. You're all on your own Trouble." He tried to slide over and leave Trouble out in the open for T'mar.

Trouble tried to keep the bluerider between himself and his human. With the mark in his mouth rather than his talons, of course, he could not chitter taunts at T'mar.
T'mar rolled his eyes. "Don't move. You're just encouraging him." He began to advance on the bronze. Unfortunately, you simply can't catch a firelizard that doesn't want to be caught.
With a pop of inrushing air, the bronze was suddenly behind the young greenrider.
"Shard it, Trouble!"
He loved the bronze. Really. He loved him. Or he would never, ever put up with this behavior.

D'mian froze and held still as T'mar started to come after Trouble, not wanting to get in between the rider and his firelizard. He visibly relaxed when he heard the 'pop!' signifying that Trouble had decided to stop hiding behind him and find a new place to taunt T'mar from. "Uh is there anything I can do to help? Or will having two people trying to catch him just encourage him even more?" D'mian's head tilted to the side a little as he watched the two, once again thankful that he had never picked up any little pets that could do this to him.

"Encourage him. The only thing that works is to ignore him until he gets bored and gives whatever it is bad."
T'mar gave his bronze an arch look. "I think he thinks it impresses the queens. Or something. Not that he's managed to catch one yet."
Not for want of trying, of course. He was a bronze, and he knew his job was to try and catch as many females...preferably ones that laid good big clutches...as he possibly could. But he was also an insanely *silly* bronze.
T'mar did wonder when Freyjath would fly, along those lines.

D’mian glanced to the bronze then back at T’mar. “How does being annoying impress anyone, much less a queen? I know I barely understand females but even I don’t think they would be impressed with such things. Of course maybe dragons and firelizards are different. Maybe I’ll tell Pangth to be even more annoying and troublesome, than he’ll be able to win himself a flight…”
The blue rider shook his head a little, hoping that it wouldn’t come down to his blue mimicking the bronze firelizard. The lizard at least looked cute stealing things and then trying to hide. A dragon, even a small one, would not be nearly as cute trying to hide behind someone.
