Trouble finally gave up and returned the mark...
No. Trouble dropped the mark down the back of T'mar's tunic, causing the greenrider's eyes to whirl like his dragon's for a moment. "No...no dragons imitating Trouble. Its bad enough that he's a bad influence on the other firelizards."
Being a bronze, of course, Trouble did tend to be imitated by the lesser colors. T'mar was very glad he had not Impressed a bronze dragon...something he had thought impossible, but if a bronze could Impress to a woman, then why not a gay or bi man?

D'mian couldn't help but chuckle a little as Trouble dropped the coin down T'mar's tunic. The blue rider had to admirer the younger green rider though, if Trouble had been his firelizard, D'mian would have strangled it by now. "Yeah, I don't think I want Pangth trying to drop something into my clothing. He'd probably drop something that would squish me..." It was too easy trying to picture Pangth picking up some big rock and dropping it on top of him, the blue would never try to hurt D'mian but blues had never been known for being the smartest dragons. Or having the longest attention spans.
"I'm going to make sure I keep myself and Pangth away from any Impressing or loyal little critters for now. Even if they weren't as bad as Trouble they would still probably be the death of me. Trouble must do something good though or else you wouldn't keep him. Either that or your a sucker for punishment."

"He's handsome, and he's actually affectionate when not causing trouble," T'mar points out. "And Freyjath likes him."
For some reason.
The greenrider fished the mark out of his tunic and thrust it back into his pocket...hoping that Trouble would not go after it again. He didn't have enough marks to let them become firelizard chew toys. "Besides, bronzes are hard to chase away. He's actually pretty smart, too."
Not as smart as Freyjath, of course, and Freyjath was not as smart as a bronze dragon...but then, that was part of the price of bonding green. Which certainly had its perks.

D'mian took a long long at Trouble before giving T'mar a nod to agree that the bronze wasn't a bad looking firelizard. He had nice coloring at least and looked healthy. Other then that D'mian wasn't sure what made a firelizard 'handsome'. "Heh they're like siblings. Nice and loving when they're aren't trying to annoy you to death or do something else to bother you."
He let out a little sigh and took a sip of his water, keeping his eye on the mischief making firelizard. "True, bronze dragons are hard enough to get rid of, their smaller cousins are even worse. But they have to be pretty smart and crafty if they're still around. And at least all firelizards seem to have their loving moments as well. I've always wondered though if a firelizard could bond to a dragon though..."

T'mar hrmed. "Wild firelizards bond to the fair. So maybe one could, I don't know."
Trouble now settled to his shoulder, crooning and clearly expecting affection he was so not getting from the greenrider right now.
"I'm not even entirely sure how Impression *works*, only that it does. Kagen kinda sorta impress too. Not quite the same thing, but they're as loyal as firelizards...not as pretty, but cuter."
After all, Flower had been a fluffball when he had first seen her and she was still pretty cute now.

D'mian gave Trouble an absent minded pat on the head, thinking it over for himself. He had never given much thought to the little creatures, sure they were fun pets for kids and they had their uses but D'mian had just never been a pet person. He liked them well enough but just had no interest in having them for himself. Pangth had always liked them though and had tried to get D'mian to get get one a couple of times. "Well if there's ever a hatching of fire lizards outside or some where else that's big enough to hold a blue then I'll let Pangth find out first hand if one will Impress to him or not."
The blue rider listened, rubbing the side of his chin a bit before shrugging. "Maybe fire lizards don't really Impress like a dragon does. I mean I've heard that they can still 'talk' to their owner through pictures but can't a lot of them do that with dragons too? Maybe it's more like people, you have a closer, stronger bond with someone who's raised you since you were born. I don't know, it's hard to try and figure out a fire lizard when you don't have any. I'd rather have a feline, something that doesn't need a lot of attention and can do fine when its left alone for hours at a time."

T'mar considered that. "It's certainly not like the bond with a dragon, but...there's something of a bond. If Trouble decides he's going to go after a female, I know it...but it's not like...you know."
Not like a real flight...something he knew he might experience any time now. "And yeah, he sends images. He's also more vocal than a dragon...makes a lot more noise. But he can't talk. Not in any way I understand, either. He sends images to Freyjath, yes, but not nearly as often."
He was very glad his green was happy with the bronze around. "And he's very helpful...when he feels like it."

D'mian tilted his head to the side slightly as he listened to the younger rider talk about the differences between having a dragon and a fire lizard. It was always interesting to hear about and gave him something to think about. Of course Pangth would probably spend the rest of the evening trying to convince D'mian why getting a fire lizard was a good idea but even that didn't bother the blue rider right now. It was nice to just be able to sit back, relax and talk about something that didn't really matter in the end.
"I guess there would be some sort of bond since you don't often hear of a fire lizard sending images to strangers without there being some sort of emergence. And they are related to dragon so they probably have the mind speak thing going on as well, just in a simpler way since they're not smart enough to form words. Of course I've always wondered how a dragon is able to speak to us in words when its first hatched..." He thought about that for a moment before shrugging and looking at Trouble. "At least he decides to be nice and helpful once in a while and not just steal all your marks and other things."

T'mar considered that. "Maybe they have the concepts and get the words from us. I know Freyjath will sometimes check my memory for things she's forgotten...and she's a green, so she forgets a lot."
The larger colors, supposedly, were smarter with better memories. "As for how smart the flits are...not nearly as smart as dragons, but they still have the same thing going on. As much of a pain as Trouble is, he's way smarter and less silly than a green would be...no offense, Freyjath!"
He knew his green was listening, even two lids asleep as she was.

"I don't know, I mean at least for me as soon as Pangth touched my mind he was chattering away. I'd think it'd take a little while for a dragon to be able to pull something that specific from someones mind. But Pangth really doesn't pull stuff like that from my mind. He normally makes me play guessing games with him instead." There weren't many memories that rider or dragon wanted to dwell on often. And time had done a number on D'mian's own memory as well.
D'mian chuckled a little at T'mar, knowing that both dragons were listening to their riders half of the conversation. "Hopefully Freyjath doesn't take that comment badly. An angry green is almost as bad as a gold, only difference is that a gold is bigger. And the silliness of a green is what makes them so enduring."

"She knows I love her. And she's actually a remarkably non-silly green. Shy, quiet, even a little coy. Perfect for me." If atypical...but then, she was the dragon who had chosen T'mar out of the crowd.
There was no changing that, no trading her in for anything else, even had he wanted anything else. He had been talked into the fact that green was a good color and then got one...and that was the way things were. Maybe the experienced riders, some of them, developed a knack for guessing who would Impress what.
Of course, with the new colors, that had gotten rather harder. Heck, he might even have Impressed a barred.

"Really? A shy and quiet green. You don't hear of those all that often, she must be a very special dragon then. But I always enjoy greens, they seem to have the widest range of personalities. And I always like their coloring best, seems to be more shades of green the of brown or gold. Of course green is my favorite color when Pangth isn't listening..." D'mian smiled a little as he could hear the snort that Pangth would be making. Really the drake had never cared about such things but he had a good sense of humor and was more then willing to put up with comments like that, it only meant that Pangth could return the favor.
"I'm always just thankful that I even got the chance to Impress. I don't know what I would have done if I had never gotten Pangth."

T'mar pointed out, grinning, "Oh, I'm sure green is *his* favorite color too."
He was, after all, a blue dragon, likely seeking to catch as many greens as possible in his life. Well, that depended on the blue, but...
"Oh, so am I. I know, I would have had a happy, ordinary life if I hadn't been Searched, but its unimaginable *now*."
Non-riders did not know what it was they were missing and giving up. They could maybe understand the edges of the bond if they were lucky enough to have a firelizard. But they could not understand a mind like Freyjath's, tied to his so thoroughly. Or a dragon's instinct that could give a man the courage to face Thread.

D'mian chuckled and had to nod in agreement. "You're right. Green is one of his favorite colors. He just hasn't been able to share his love of greens for a while, poor guy. And I guess there are other colors that he could go after now as well though he'd probably be too confused to figure it out..."Neither rider nor dragon had quite gotten use to the new colors that were in Nyocia. There was no handy cheat sheet for him to really understand what all the new dragons were and how they fit in with the original five colors.
"If I hadn't impressed I don't know if I would have been more or less of an outcast to my family. I know I'd most likely be dead at this point." He assumed almost everyone in the north was dead by now. Maybe a few had found some extreme way to survive but even if there were enough dragons to help fight Thread, there wouldn't be enough food for them. A depressing thought, and one that made him feel guilty for running away from it all instead of trying to do more, but that didn't make it any less true.

"He could go after barreds and he might have a chance with a sky, they're only the size of browns...not that different from the difference between a bronze and a gold." T'mar then blushed. "And Freyjath said he can chase her any time."
Which was rather out of character...maybe the pale colored green was starting to come into heat? It had to happen sooner or later. And she was...well. Definitely due, possibly more than due. Well...it was the price and perk of riding green.
"The new female colors are barred, sky and violet, but violets are queens and up there with the bronzes...a blue's not going to have a chance with one."

D'mian blinked a few times at T'mar, choked up for a moment as he wasn't sure what to say about Pangth chasing Freyjath. D'mian wasn't going to stop Pangth from joining in on a flight, no matter how awkward the morning after might end being. The blue had done more then his share of work and would deserve a little bit of fun. And well at least T'mar was a nice guy, even if he was young. D'mian gave T'mar a little smile, and hoped it didn't make him look like a creeper. "Well tell Freyjath that we're both honored by that. I'm sure Pangth would love the challenge of chasing after her when she has a flight."
A slight color had risen to D'mian's face and he cleared his throat a little as he listened to the new colors and jumped at the chance to talk about a new, less awkward subject. "The uh barreds are the ones that are kind greenish and purple? They have a stripe along their back? Only have seen one of those from a distance. Though I have seen the purple dragons. That was... odd. Pretty but very strange and hard to take in at first. And I don't think I've seen any sky dragons yet either. And I know there are some new male colors as well though I don't think I've seen any of those in person yet, just heard about them in passing. Ugh all these new colors makes me glad I have a blue, I'm still at the bottom for all the dragon rider politics..."
