Name: Chandra
Age: 19
Rank: Dragonhealer
Gender: Female
Sexuality: *shrug* Mostly likely hetero but she’s a busy girl
Appearance: Tall. That’s probably the first thing that comes to most peoples minds when they see Chandra. The young woman is taller then some guys, standing at 6’. She’s also a physically strong looking girl, not one of those little wimpy things that might get blown over by a strong breeze. Her shoulders are wide, arms thick with muscle that’s she’s gotten through hard labor. The rest of her is the same way, big and strong and earned through hard work.
Chander’s brown hair is normally pulled back into a tight pony tail to keep it out of the way if she hasn’t just randomly chopped it short. She does try to grow it out though, it gives her a slightly more feminine look. The sun has lightened her hair color, giving her more red and gold highlights in it so when she does wear it down it is kind of pretty. The sun has also given her a smattering of freckles over her nose and cheeks that stand out more clearly in the winter months when she’s lost some of her farmers tan.
Chander dresses like a guy. Even for formal events. Her frame is just too big and bulky to ever look good in dresses. She just feels too awkward in them as well and her movements get clumsy which is never good.
Personality: Chandra tends to like animals and dragons more then people. She has nothing against people but people are confusing. Dragons and animals tend to be far easier to understand. And she does understand them, not by being a HAD or anything special but by watching them and learning what their body langue says. While every dragon has its own personality they all have certain motions that they share with each other. The color of their eyes, their tail movements, they way they tense up or relax, Chandra can read them and figure out what best to do. The better she knows the dragon and rider, the better she can understand them.
Chandra has a sense of humor, you have to when you’re as big as she is. She’s developed a thick skin to the jokes she use to get about being a guy. She doesn’t care for those comments but she can shrug them off, and now that she’s spent time in weyr’s where her skills were highly valued she’s had to put up with less and less of it.
She’s not a shy girl but she’s not the kind of person who wants lots of attention on her. She’d rather sit back with a friend or two and relax then go to a big party. It’s also hard to intimidate the girl, her size makes her big enough to ignore most threats and she’s use to dealing with full grown, cranky, sick, and hurt dragons, which makes a person look pretty tame.
History: Chandra and her twin sister Liliana were born into a farming family. They have an older brother and two younger brothers. From a young age Chandra took an interest in the farm animals and always had a gift with them. While many young children would be loud or not know how to have a gentle touch with the animals, Chandra did. Even the half wild felines that were kept on the farm to take care of pests seemed found of the girl. When a healer came to check on some of the farms sick heardbeasts, Chandra knew that she wanted to be one as well. When she was old enough her parents allowed her to join the healer hall as an apprentice.
Chandra worked hard at the hall, always taking things on in a hands on approach. She wasn’t afraid of getting dirty or hurt and as she continued to grow during her teen years it got easier and easier for her to handle all the animals. When a random rider stopped by the hall, it was the first time Chandra had ever seen a dragon. She had heard all about them of course, and had seen pictures, but seeing one in person was totally different. She risked getting closer to the dragon, earning the riders scorn but seeing the intelligence in the dragon’s eyes and movements made Chandra change from being just a healer for beasts to being a dragonhealer. She worked hard, trying to catch up to the other apprentices who had started before her but her general knowledge helped her out. For those first turns she was forced to work mainly through theory-craft and then with firelizards. Once she had the basics down she was allowed to go to a Weyr and work with real dragons, earning her rank of Journeyman when she 18. When her sister was Searched out for Nyocia Weyr, Chandra put in a request to be transferred there, wanting to be closer to her twin and hopefully see her Impress.
Pets: Green Firelizard Joraga- Average size green
Brown firelizard Sarkhan- Flies a little funny from breaking his wing shortly after being hatched.
Tan firelizard Sorin- A big, very bossy, and demanding tan with wings that curl inwards.
Other: Can deal with most basic problems that animals around the weyr might have, though she’d probably have to touch up on anything major like how to help a pregnant ____
