Name: Lyron
Age: 15
Rank: Candidate
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Average is a word that you can apply to Lyron’s appearance in many ways, starting with his height of around 5’9”, nothing exceedingly unusual for his age. His frame is built neither lightly nor heavily, with him having enough flesh on his bones to avoid appearing gangly, but not much more than that. Lightly tanned skin seems to make his lighter brown eyes blend smoothly with the rest of his face. The boy’s facial structure is very rounded, without any angles other than a strong chin.
There’s a decent amount of hair, slightly curly and grown down to about his ears. His basic brown color is accented by a hint of highlights from the sunlight he’s been exposed to. Lyron’s fairly low maintenance about his appearance, always wearing something fairly presentable, but he likely wouldn’t be able to deal with formal wear without help.
Upon first glance, there really wouldn’t be much to look at. Any scrutiny would probably make him uncomfortable, and his demeanor would change to one of mild unease, often ducking his head or avoiding eye contact.
Personality: He tends to follow a ‘do not speak until spoken to’ tenet with anyone who he views as much older and wiser than him, not because he has nothing to say, but… he often gives quite the wrong impression, given the stutter that he’s prone to when put on the spot, in front of figures of authority, or anxious (which, given his desperate wish to succeed at his tasks, that one can occur quite often). Indeed, this can make it mildly difficult for him to befriend others, possibly especially others at the weyr that would likely be older than him.
However, once he’s comfortable in a situation, a kinder, more giving individual it would be hard to find. He inherently wants to do well in what he does, and enjoys experimenting with new skills and tasks. Lyron’s work ethic is solid, and puts a high value on the responsibilities he’s assigned. He’ll pick up on whatever he needs to learn if you give him enough time to do so. Speaking thoughtfully when he wants to express himself, he’s not one for harsh words towards much of anyone. He can be a bit of a pushover, but if you push hard enough you’ll run into a streak of quiet independence. He’s got a good head on his shoulders if nothing else, likes mostly everyone, and is able to take care of himself.
History: Lyron was fifth of six children to parents within a smaller, nondescript hold. His parents were lively, outgoing people, and this personality trait seemed to breed true for five of the six kids they had. Lyron was intrinsically more reserved, and at times ended up somewhat overshadowed by his siblings. Growing up with this wasn’t tragic or anything of the sort, but it could be said that Lyron’s desire for competence and trust could have been born from wanting to catch just a bit more of his parent’s attention. His older siblings tended to push him around a bit when he was young, creating his stutter when he was too young to recognize it as mostly good natured. But, the teasing he endured from his siblings faded away as he aged, and by the age of 12 or so, Lyron had developed a bit more confidence in himself. and the stutter he’d been plagued with since he had starting speaking had abated somewhat.
It was around that time when he starting becoming a little more outgoing, spending a great time in the small marketplace of the hold, getting to know the people of the village. He began to make himself useful, volunteering time and help in various places to learn about various trades. He made a vague acquaintance with the local weaver’s daughter, Rhen at this phase in his life, but they were not close.
Lyron was just getting to the point in his life where he was feeling more comfortable with his lot when he was Searched, along with another from his hold. The girl he’d known vaguely, Rhen, was chosen as well to the utter astonishment of the community, which’d had little experience with dragons or Search before. Though it seemed like a frightening venture to the younger boy, who hadn’t dreamed of the weyrs and the beasts they produced? The idea of having a chance to gain a compatriot that could offer such unconditional acceptance and support proved more than Lyron could resist.
