Name: Jador
Age: 15
Rank: candidate
Gender: male
Sexuality: hetero
Appearance: Jador is thin, wiry and appears unfinished. Long limbs and fingers, narrow waist and hips, and a big-eyed, finely boned face help make him seem much shorter than his 5' 8" height. Dimpled cheeks and a spray of freckles add to his apparent lack of maturity. Scruffy masses of untamed black hair and piercingly ice blue eyes complete the look of a young rebellious child refusing to grow up gracefully. A long scar mars his surprisingly broad back, showing where he had suffered at the hands of bandits when much younger.
Personality: Jador is a quiet boy, thoughtful and introspective, but possesses a wicked sense of humour and a temper which once roused takes time to boil, explode, then disappear as if it never was, never resulting in a grudge. He is studious but not excessively so, diligent but not one to curry favour, and neither afraid of hard work or inclined to overdo it. He has a finely tuned belief in justice, and a distrust of unidentified strangers that can be awkward, but he keeps his prejudices to himself.
There is a hidden core of hurt Jador refuses to show others, and a passionate love for life that is rarely expressed. His values are somewhat inflexible, but not repressive. He believes in a policy of live and let live, unless he perceives some kind of safety issue, at which point he steps in to educate. He is however intolerant of stupidity or wanten cruelty and can be touchy about personally important issues. He never discusses his past except broadly, and rarely speculates on his future, tending to live in the moment though he understands his actions have consequences, which he faces up to without shame or complaint.
History: Jador was a seaholder's son, and a master weaver's nephew. From both he learned many useful things that he took with him to each new stage of his life. He has never known who his mother was, for neither father nor uncle would tell him. There is a mystery surrounding her that he has long since decided was irrelevant, and thus when asked he says she died. Born in a storm on the Western seas, Jador was born early and seasick. His first memories are of his father teaching him to walk. He remembers the day the bandits attacked his father's wagon. That day his world fell apart, and he never saw his father again, though the agony in his back lasted many sevendays.
Jador became his uncle's charge then, and grew up amongst the weavers, dyers and spinners. At 14 he was due to formally apprentice but was Searched while he accompanied his uncle to the Weyr. With his uncle's blessing, Jador remained at the Weyr. News came eight days later that Jador's uncle had died. Truely alone, Jador buried his grief and went on with life.
Pets: Trad, 2 turn old canine. Trad is a large canine, bred for guardwork and hunting, and well trained. He has a sleek coat, feathering only on legs, belly, ears and tail. Trad stands hip height to Jador, and is as graceful as a dancer but powerful enough to hunt felines.
Other: Jador spent a lot of time learning ropework and netmaking, and to fight with hunting knives and stave. He is expert with throwing knives and archery.
