Name: Se'tolten
Age: 17 Turns
Rank: Weyrling
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: Setheatolten’s hair is an auburn color, close to reddish brown. It is quite long, falling about halfway down his face. He usually refers to his hair color as reddish brown, as that is what it looks like to Setheatolten and most people. His bangs have long since moved to the sides of his face and are the same length as the rest of his hair, no longer a problem for him. Setheatolten’s eyes are gray in color, though some might argue it is an odd color of blue.
Setheatolten is short, smaller than the average person his age. Despite being rather skinny, Setheatolten is not the most agile person in the world. He isn’t to fast either because his legs are rather short. He is actually quite strong, even though at first look he wouldn’t seem so.
Personality: With a tendency to look on the bad points, Setheatolten can be viewed as pessimistic. He knows there are good things possible as outcomes, but the bad ones seem to happen more often. Certainly, Setheatolten might know what the possible good outcomes of an event are, but measuring them up against the bad makes them seem very tiny. Knowing about all the bad things that can happen can be quite depressing when viewed against the possibilities that better things will happen. Setheatolten tends to prepare for the worst outcome, and not be to surprised or unprepared if the worst happens.
He always seems to have a reply to anything. You can get him angry pretty easily, but it isn’t quite as easy to make him explode. Setheatolten tries to be a peaceful person, but it doesn’t match his personality. He has a remark for almost anything someone throws at him, and he sometimes says them without thinking first. This can cause problems, so Setheatolten tries to think before he acts or says something; he does sometimes say things without thinking anyway, despite his effort.
Setheatolten can be quite stubborn about his point. If he decides on something, he doesn’t generally move his position about it. First impressions are usually the ones he sticks to, and it can take some effort to get Setheatolten to change his mind on something. He doesn’t always accept new things easily, because new things can mean threats, but it isn’t quite that hard to convince him something isn’t a bad idea, you just need effort and maybe a little proof.
Loyalty is very important to Setheatolten. He is loyal to his friends, Pern and his Weyr. His loyalty does not change easily, so Setheatolten can always be counted on to stay with you. When he stays loyal to something, Setheatolten would die for it. His loyalty to others is much more important to him than his own life. Setheatolten would gladly die fighting Thread to help save Pern from the threat it brings.
History: Setheatolten was born in Danac Hold, but his mother moved the family to Nyocia Weyr when he was 7 Turns old, so he doesn’t remember much about the Hold. He does remember dragons though, and the interest he felt in them. Setheatolten always liked being around dragons, the bigger the better. He knew he wanted to be a Candidate. He watched hatchings from the Stands, wishing he could be down there to Impress a dragon. Since he wasn’t a Candidate, Setheatolten spent most of his time talking to people in the Weyr and learning things. He didn’t always have things to do with his free time, so he would wander around the Weyr and explore things.
Setheatolten had two older brothers and a younger sister. He generally got along well with all of them, though sometimes they did have their fights. Only one of his siblings actually showed interest in being a dragonrider. Setheatolten wondered sometimes if he would be the first of his siblings to Impress to a dragon. He thought that would be nice, as his older brothers had done everything before him except have a Kagen. There wasn’t much to say for that, as neither of them showed the slightest interest in the little creatures. He hasn't had his Kagen for even a year yet, but knows he will have someday. He wants to learn a bit more about them, too.
He became a Candidate after Turns of watching hatchings. Nothing could have made him happier than that moment did. He hadn’t yet stood for his first hatching, but Setheatolten was sure that it would be a great one. He could hardly wait for the hatching to happen and to find, perhaps, his own dragon that he could take care of.
Pets: Gravel Mineral-
Appearance: He is about 35 cm long with mostly black and brown on his hide, though there are bits of white here and there. His tail is nearly half of his length, so Mineral looks a lot smaller when his tail is not in view. He has a bulky build and is quite strong.
Personality: Like other Gravel Kagen, Mineral is not very aggressive and isn’t likely to get a mate. He tends to do anything Setheatolten or someone else tells him to do, though he can stand for himself. Mineral prefers not to be left alone, but if he was, Mineral would be able to take care of himself.
Age: 1/2 Turn
Other:
Name: Bronze Jourenth
Age: Hatchling
Appearance: Jourenth is a very large Bronze, 45 meters long and with a powerful build that accents his size. His hide is a deep bronze shade, touched with metallic greens. Also very pure in color, Jourenth bears no discerning markings, unless one counts the proud bearing he always manages to keep up.
Personality: Vain, vain, vain. Had Pern dragon kings, Jourenth would be their king. He’s not much for consciously showing off, simply expecting his very existence in a place to be plenty good enough. Also very strict, Jourenth is not one to ever even try to bend rules, and won’t let his rider ever attempt to do so either. He likes things straightforward and biased in his direction, and, as long as it’s coming from his point of view, everything always will be.
