Kora was woken by not only the feeling but the sound that something had just gone very wrong. Nayarath had left her couch and sat on the ledge outside her weyr, her hide gleaming dimly in the moonlight and her eyes whirling with a frightened, mournful red. Just like many other dragons in the Weyr, she was suddenly keening.
Nayarath didn't say anything to her rider, but Kora could pick it out from the dragon's thoughts. Kelth had betweened. Shador was dead.
Kora gathered Squeak against her chest, suddenly wishing she had company in her weyr despite her recent decision to empty it. A frightened kagen could only provide so much comfort. The dragons' keening was an eerie noise, and not one that had been heard at Nyocia for some time.
And this time, Kora could think of no reason for it. What had caused the death of Violet and rider? It was an unsettling mystery, and all the more so while the riders had to sit through all the dragon's final call for Kelth.
OOC: Find more info at Danac Hold. That post will be put up by Jenth.
Anyone can post here, it's just kind of a thread for any rider's reactions to the keening/Kelth's death.

B'can was still asleep, remaining so, and into his dreams came the image of violet and the sense of loss. And THEN the keening woke him.
Woke him with a shriek...because the only thing in his mind, linked to Apolloth's, was a violet dragon going Between. No....no....
And then sense began to return, but the keening was still there. That was real. "Apolloth...Apolloth..."
Kelth is gone!
Torn, then, between grief and relief, and the strong desire to seek out Inolyn. Even if Jorindath was still angry with Apolloth for chasing the Senior...the only dragon he *had* chased since he had won Jorindath.
Even if...but he needed his violetrider, he needed her. And his dragon, but Apolloth's muzzle lifted in the keening for a queen.
For a lost queen, and how had it happened? Shador had not been that sick. Surely, surely not. Surely...but Kelth...Kelth...
"Inolyn?" He wasn't even sure whether or not she was there, in that moment, his thoughts partially drowned out by the sound that now dominated the Weyr.

It felt too much like a dream, it couldn't be? How?! Shador had been up and about for a while, even flying errands outside the Weyr. There had been no Death Scream, Kelth had not been here when she died. And the cause might have died with her.
Inolyn had colapsed on the empty ledge where she had been searching the weyr. For what she didnt know, there were only dragons in morning for the loss of a queen hit them all hard. Jorindath was on the heights, a brave image of the last violet queen morning for her elder. After her first initial cry, she had fallen silent but here eyes swirled a pale yellow. She was the last violet dragon on Pern...
"B'can?" Inolyn responded to her name, her voice weak with fear and grief. The sight of her weyrmate started the tears in her eyes, burrying herself in his arms as she cried. Shador had been her mentor, more so then Kora. They had an unspoken bond and understanding, the only two of their kind on all of Pern. And now she was gone...
