Scout purred softly as Salise stroked his back, always the one between the two of them that benefited from Artemisth's feeding sessions. Salise just relaxed and was relatively bored; Scout got a full body massage that his keeper seemed hardly aware of.
Artemisth, on the other hand, was hard at work glaring down the herdbeasts. She perched on a low ledge, the claws of her forepaws curling around the edge of the cliff. She had to find the best before she wasted the energy of diving.
Salise waited, Scout stretched, and Artemisth searched. Finally the Barred dove, sleek, agile, and show offish, as always, and grabbed her selected beast as the rest of the herd fled. Artemisth returned to the ledge to eat, and Salise looked up at Rukbat, wondering where it would be by the time the picky, clean Barred was sated. They were in no hurry, regrettably, and Artemisth would take full advantage of that.
