R'mer had clearly had dawn sweeps or some other such sleep-reducing problem, for he was currently to be found fast asleep curled in his dragon's forelimb. In the bowl. This was a situation that placed him in grave danger of being on the receiving end of a weyrbrat's prank, except that Tinth was not asleep. All three lids open, the dragon, content to stay where he was, watched the bowl go by. Thunder was perched between his head knobs, providing a bit of contrast in terms of shades of blue.
There was no sign of Hail or Rain. At least it wasn't raining, but it was horribly COLD to have fallen asleep out here. Tinth was considering whether he shouldn't just pick R'mer up and put him in their Weyr, but he really didn't want to wake him up.
Or maybe he should. Humans didn't like the cold, even when wearing riding gear. Humans were silly, Tinth thought, and had just decided that yes, he was going to carry R'mer to their Weyr and put him in his bed when he realized somebody was approaching.

Someone didn't make it to his bed, Artemisth rumbled. Her eyes whirled at the sight before her. I would never let you do that, she added, glancing sideways at Salise.
Good to know. Artemisth's motives were probably to avoid embarrassment to herself rather than to be good to her rider, but Salise could work with that. So long as she didn't end up in plain sight in the bowl.
Artemisth eyed Tinth. He was a funny Blue. She could certainly see him letting his rider do such things. You planning on moving him anytime soon?

Tinth lifted his head to regard Artemisth. Now there was a barred he was in no hurry to catch...well, except that being a male dragon he'd chase anything with a pretty tail.
I don't think it's any of your business, Artemisth Not that Tinth was NOT somewhat amused at his rider's expense.
No. It was more that he was the only person who was, in his mind, allowed to feel that way. Certainly no annoying barred was allowed to comment on the matter, and Artemisth had to be one of the most annoying dragons on all of Pern. Unless she was rising.
Right now there was absolutely no reason for Tinth to be nice to the barred. So he wasn't going to bother.

Artemisth snorted. She could see the incident right there in front of her, and now she was involved. It wasn't her fault Tinth had left his rider out in the bowl for everyone to see. Salise pushed on her dragon's shoulder, hopeless a move as that was. "If he doesn't want you around we had better go."
She hadn't wanted to stop in the first place. Unlike her dragon, Salise didn't like stopping to gawk at people. Tinth would tell R'mer when he woke up that they had been there. She hadn't ever really talked to R'mer, but she didn't want him mad at her.
Artemisth remained stubbornly still. I can't turn my back on that, she complained.
Really? Salise didn't see the problem with being told that something that wasn't her business really wasn't, but of course Artemisth was well practiced in finding a problem with everything. "I'm not hanging around. Come on, Artemisth."

Of course, no matter how tired somebody is, there's a limit to what they can sleep through. As Tinth, ignoring Artemisth now, moved to lift R'mer gently in his talons...the bluerider woke up with a start.
"Mmmf!"
And...joy. Witnesses. Tinth was more embarrassed, of course, but it was less obvious. Dragons, after all, cannot blush. (If they did, it would be green, which would probably not look very good).
R'mer straightened himself, or tried to, given there was still a talon wrapped part of the way around him. Shard it. Well, at least it wasn't a cute BOY watching.

Artemisth was starting to begrudgingly follow Salise when she saw Tinth start to move his rider. R'mer was definitely not going to sleep through that. Wait, look!
Salise looked and sighed. Joy. They had woken him up.
You were the one making all the noise, She snorted at her rider. But I think it was Tinth's fault. The Blue was still holding on to his rider. Salise had to see that.
She did, but still figured it was their fault. She was embarrassed herself now. She didn't like embarrassing others... it ended up having the same effect on her. "Sorry, R'mer," she said quickly. She couldn't think of any excuse to be standing there when he woke up, except maybe Artemisth. That, however, wasn't exactly a good- or safe- excuse.
"We were just passing by." At a bad time. "I didn't mean to..." To be there. She looked at Artemisth but the Barred wasn't offering any help.

R'mer disentangled himself from Tinth. "Is it me, or do dragons set out to make embarrassing situations worse?" Tinth just gave his rider a look. And Artemisth a glare.
But that was hardly a surprise. The barred had plenty of reputation...her attitude was well known throughout the Weyr, as was Tinth's volatility.
At least Artemisth could be trusted to react to things in the same way twice. R'mer was not so sure about his dragon, who had a tendency to change his mind so thoroughly it was a wonder he stayed Impressed. Good job he hadn't been shelled a wher...

Salise looked sideways at Artemisth. "I'm pretty sure they do," she said quietly. R'mer seemed alright, but she was still a little anxious.
Artemisth flicked her tail. I do not. It wasn't her fault if her presence- since she most certainly did like to hang around and observe such situations- made someone else feel worse. She wasn't doing anything.
Supposedly. Salise had only seen her dragon ever try to solve a situation once, and Artemisth had failed miserably. A life of making situations worse than they needed her be did not do any good when she up and changed her mind. Such a rare occurrence was not going to take place again here, what with Tinth flashing her glares and Artemisth well occupied returning them.

R'mer shook his head, managing to keep back a laugh at the glances being repeatedly exchanged between the dragons. If one could not well read dragon body language, said glances might be mistaken for flirtatious.
As it was, the only time Artemisth was flirtatious was when she was very, very proddy, from what R'mer had seen. "Dragons," he pronounced. "Are crazy."
Tinth gave HIM a look at that, nudging him none too gently with the tip of his muzzle. Of course, calling Tinth crazy was not entirely inaccurate. A dragon so volatile and unpredictable could hardly be called sane. "Of course, firelizards are far, far crazier. Or at least sillier."
Firelizards caused most of the trouble around here, in R'mer's mind. But dragons caused their share.

Salise wouldn't risk thinking her dragon was flirting, even if it was... slightly preferable to her being the angry creature she usually was. Either way she was usually angry looking, and either one was impossibly hard to stop her from once she put her mind to it. Were it flirting, however, there would be a little secret cheer tucked away in that giant dragon belly.
Salise was pretty sure there wasn't any hidden there right now. "Yes." Artemisth gave her a "we are not" sort of look, but didn't want to risk taking her attention off Tinth for too long. There was no trusting Blues, particularly not the volatile Tinth.
Case in point, as far as Salise was concerned.
She smiled. "Definitely sillier." Crazier was probably true too, but they were so small in comparison to dragons, it didn't matter so much. Still, despite that small size, they could get into their fair share of trouble. "I don't know where mine's at right now."
Most likely, Scout was the one doing the flirting.

"I seem to be missing my girls, too. Probably stealing from the kitchens again." Hail and Rain were very much co-conspirators when it came to that. Thunder, being older, was more quiet and mature. And definitely better behaved.
"And yes, I'm working on keeping them on leashes, but they're no more than hatchlings, really, both of them." Thunder chirped from Tinth's head, then flew to R'mer's shoulder, wrapping his tail around the bluerider's neck like a necklace and furling his wings.
"Trouble. All of them." If he included the dragons in that, he didn't voice it. But he...probably did.
