Name: Reir
Age: 20
Rank: Candidate
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: Fairly unremarkable, she can be described as having a pretty face but not much else. She doesn’t stand out from the crowd but she appreciates that. She’s about 5’2 and appears to be quite thin but decently muscular with a slightly chubby rounded face. She possesses green eyes, relatively pale skin but not too extreme and dark brown hair with a thin short fringe, and she prefers to have her hair straight but has recently taken to putting it in a pony-tail to keep the wind from knocking it into her eyes.
Personality: Reir always means well but is a bit too lazy for her own good, leading her to cut a few corners if she can when no one is watching. She knows it’s not a good personality trait to have but can’t help but succumb to it. Otherwise she can be a pleasure to be around: She’s kind and sweet but prefers to keep her own thoughts to herself. However this is not due to a lack of confidence, in fact she can be fairly full of herself but doesn’t particularly like talking about her own life, preferring to hear about the exploits of others. Despite this she will raise her voice if she believes it to be required.
One of the things Reir prides herself on, is her complete faith in everyone she comes across, usually concentrating on the good she see’s in them, which has bitten her on one or two occasions – with varying degree of how much this has bothered her . She not naive, she knows everyone has dark parts in their souls – but doesn’t like to fixate on them. After all, if she doesn’t want to be solely judged on her laziness, then she believes everyone should be given some sort of benefit of doubt.
This also tends to mean she’s impressed by a lot; but she defiantly has a small jealousy streak, if someone has accomplished even a slight bit more than her she’ll get a bit jealous – which she might show or might not, this tends to be random. On the other hand this tends to be a good thing for her to experience, often working a little harder to achieve her goals afterwards – if even only for a small amount of time.
Reir’s demeanour is fairly easy to understand – casual and somewhat aloof if she knows you well, otherwise she speaks and acts with a professional manner. It all comes down to how comfortable she is with that specific person or group of people or what she considers to be “proper” in any given situation.
History: Reir’s life before being searched wasn’t the most eventful life you could imagine. Originally grew up in a small rural coastal town which she learned to love for how quiet and peaceful it can be. As the only child from her parents, she had been expected to follow in her father’s footsteps and take fishing up as her occupation; not the best pay one could hope for, but fortunately for her – she loved it. Something about the trade really clicked with her personality, and she showed rather remarkable skill for it which was slightly let down by a lack of motivation. However, she enjoyed just taking life a day at a time.
Things soon began to change in her 15th turn. During one chilly morning a Bluerider descended from the sky and was greeted with eager prospects from the townspeople. More often than not, this town had been passed over during past searches so having a dragon up close wasn’t a common sight for most of the younger townsfolk – including Reir.
Reir wasn’t immediately enthusiastic about being searched; she was genuinely honoured but wasn’t convinced the lifestyle was for her. Unfortunately for her, this clashed with her parents’ reactions. For them – their only child had the chance to get away from a monitory life and see the skies that they could only dream of. This indeed was an honour for their namesake, and they certainly showed how ecstatic they were.
All things considered, it weren’t just as simple as that. Reir stood at the first hatching after being whisked away to the weyr but failed to Impress. This didn’t particularly bother her too much, but she couldn’t say she wasn’t at least slightly disappointed and became uncharacteristically adamant that she would Impress at her next chance.
Unfortunately, events following the failed Impression ensured this would have to be delayed. Soon afterwards Reir was called back to her hometown after her father had suffered a severe injury on the turbulent waves of a dangerous fishing trip, which meant Reir’s father could no longer pull in the income he needed to support his family. This is where Reir stepped in, and volunteered to help support her family for a little while longer.
It was a few years in the end before Reir returned to the weyr. There was never an end for the complications that arose after the accident and she felt dedicated to help. During her stay in her hometown she was often asked if she felt that she had ‘missed her dragon’ if it was to be born whilst she was away. Reir’s answer was always the same – If she was without a dragon, then her dragon had not yet been born. Eventually after most of the family’s issues were beginning to level, her mother persuaded Reir to leave for the weyr which she complied with.
She’s still not entirely optimistic about the prospects of being a dragon rider, but she feels she owes it to herself to give it a real shot.
Pets: None – much to her dismay.

Color Preferences: If it was up to Reir she’d prefer a Green or maybe a Barred. I however wouldn’t mind for her to get something to kick that lazy habit of hers.
