Jeck shifted in his clothing (just a little too large) as he looked out over the cool water of crystal lake... The sun beat down on his blonde hair as he crossed his arms, thin frame the only thing seen in the area against the dark lake. His eyes nearly matched the blue color of the water.
Fingers brushed his hair from his eyes as he stretched. He'd been in the weyr for only a few days now and everything was so different... he'd known it would be, it had to be. But he hadn't known just how much it would be.
Taking careful steps to avoid the mud, Jeck moved to walk around the outside of the lake, watching the clouds. He wouldn't want a random summer storm to sneak up on him.

Reir had been sitting on a large rock that was situated a little distance away, and had been for quite some time now. The beating sun felt good on the skin, in something of a soothing fashion. This was something she had become accustomed to in the past, so getting the opportunity to enjoy it was something she was now finding herself to seek during her free time. There was something about it that was hypnotically comfortable to her.
Turning to her left, somebody she did not recognise was now visible – a candidate most likely. Slowly, but surely new candidates had been trickling into the weyr. Reir herself had now been present in Nyocia for nearly a month and it had hardly felt like that. New experiences will take time to learn until they feel like second nature.
Keeping the male in her line of sight, she had wondered whether she should say hello to him, or perhaps that was too forceful for now? In the end she decided to wait until he happened to gaze towards his right, greeting him with a both a friendly wave and a smile.

(Yay a person replied! :3)
Jeck heard the familiar "pop" of Saren, the brown flit zooming in as he appeared near him only to promptly fly in the direction of a girl. She was sitting on a rock, seemingly doing nothing.
Jeck swallowed hard - girls terrified him. Even when they weren't taller than him they were terrifying and different.
Nervously shifting from foot to foot, he finally decided to go after Saren. The brown flit was chirping at her playfully, picking up the biggest rocks he possibly could, and depositing them at her feet.
Stuttering, Jeck managed to get out a short sentence. "Saren-he-he," swallow, "gifts. From Saren." He gestured at the flit nervously, who did a happy twirl at the mention of his name. He was a chocolate brown color darker tips on his feet, tail, and wings.
"Jeck," he said shortly, having a hard time meeting her eyes. Jeck would have to get used to girls at some point.

Something was flying her way it seemed, a quick little thing too. The distance between them wasn’t great but not talking distance either, and this creature had made its way to her without her noticing what it was until it started collecting rocks in front of her. It was a fire lizard, and a very cute one at that.
Still, his greeting of depositing rocks nearby was piqued her curiosity, watching him intently she chose to acknowledge his presence while she waited for the candidate to make his way to them. “Well, hello to you too.” She chuckled.
Once the boy had caught up to them, he spoke to her in a rather nervous fashion, struggling to find the correct words it seemed. But why was he so appearing so nervous? Not wanting to force the issue, Reir chose to not ask about his demeanour, taking a friendlier approach instead.
“You must be the lucky friend of this cute little thing here. Jeck you say your name is? I’m Reir, nice to meet you. By any chance, are you a candidate too?”

Jeck blushed even more [if possible] and resisted the urge to flee.
Saren had completed his pile of rocks and was now arranging them, trilling as he gave a continual monologue to Reir and Jeck both. He was projecting happy feelings to Jeck. He could tell that his human was nervous from the shaking of his hand, tapping his fingers against his pant leg.
"Nice to-uh-meet you." He took a deep breath- "Yes. I'm new. Just got here." He gave a hesitant smile having managed to get a mostly smile-smile out.
"Saren-he-" [pause] "he's friendly." Saren cooed in reply to the commentary about himself and did another little twirl, his pyramid of pebbles shining in the sun.

Reir was used to noticing behaviour oddities in people; it came from observing them whilst she did nothing in particular. This person was still clearly nervous but not unfriendly, she doubt she had offended as it wasn’t hard to notice the cheerful behaviour of the little brown fire lizard.
“Friendly actually seems to be an understatement.” She chuckled. I don’t think I have seen one act so cute. Can I ask though, I’m not entirely sure what he is doing, is it something he does often?” The two seemed to make a sweet team in Reir’s opinion. She couldn’t help but shake the thought that Saren was doing what he could in order to get Jeck used to communicating with people – if that is why he was nervous anyway.
“By the way, I won’t bite, so don’t feel intimidated – not to imply you are… ah.” Blushing, she knew she might be completely off the mark here, it felt silly to say it but she did want him to know that she was the friendly sort. “Forgive me if I am poor with my words. Have you been here long?”

Jeck was trying to contain his nerves. Saren was sending thoughts of reassurance to him, but even that wasn't enough to keep him from wanting to grind his teeth. What was it about girls that made him crack? He knew it was in part due to the girls he knew back home. But this girl wasn't one of them. So far.
He smiled hesitantly at the comment about Saren's friendliness, trying to relax a little. His hands twisted each other nervously.
"He likes to build things." He took a deep breath. His eyes could hardly meet hers. "He'll build his little towers with just about anything." His voice was steadying, but it still had a ways to go.
Jeck shook his head emphatically at her stumbling. "It's fine. I've only been here a few days." Wrapping the slightly too large jacket around his arms - where had that cool wind come from? - he watched Saren run off to find flowers. Now he'd decorate the tower no doubt. "Have you been here long?"

Reir decided in order to help Jeck ease up a bit, she would attempt to get deeper in conversation with him, yet not force him to reply if he did not actively want to. Hopefully the more they talked, the more he would realise she is a friendly enough person. Saren seemed to think was the case as well, so she had that on her side at least.
Although his eyes could not seem to meet hers, this was fine by Reir’s standards, she chose to observe the rather excited fire lizard for the time being, not being used to seeing them around with their human. Afterall, she did not want to put added pressure onto Jeck, making it look like she was hurrying him for a reply. He could take all the time he needed.
“Building things… I see. It’s almost a shame he wasn’t human. He might make a good craftsperson.” She mused, cupping her chin in an inquisitive fashion. Saren’s towers actually appeared to be pretty sturdy considering what he was using to build them.
“It has been just under a month now I believe.” She replied, beginning to stretch her legs one by one, the blood loss from barely moving them was starting to take its toll… becoming more and more obvious to her. “How are you finding the place so far?”

Jeck knew from experience girls could be deceiving. You just never knew when they were going to turn on you. Like wild animals. He bit his lip as he tried not to twitch too much. He knew about the nervous habit - after the girls had noticed how badly they effected him, it had only gotten worse with teasing. He should not have been showing weakness now but he couldn't help it.
He gave a hoarse, forced sound laugh that was a bit of a cough at Reir's comment about Saren being a craft person. That was true enough, after all.
"It's okay," he hedged. He hadn't really been here long enough to meet anyone or learn anything about the weyr except that it involved a lot of work. "Have you met many other candidates?" Most of the boys either out right ignored him or teased him for being so small so he hadn't really made "friends".
Saren had finished his tower and was now scuttling around it, inspecting it from all angles. He had a happy nature.
