Name: G'dian (Gailardian)
Age: 21
Rank: Tan weyrling/jr. journeyman smith
Gender:Male
Sexuality: Hetero
Appearance: G'dian is not a typical looking Pernese, his short honey blond hair is often bleached the color of straw by the sun, and it stands up in unruly spikes. His skin is tanned golden and his eyes are deep green- blue, like an arctic sea. His body is stocky and lean, he's not particularly tall at about five foot nine, but he is both strong and agile. He prefers to wear wherhide tanned golden or brown, usually pants and a vest over a white linen shirt. He wears a golden and copper hoop in his right ear, and occasionally slim bracelets of twisted copper or gold.
He has a youthful, somewhat squarish face. Most people consider him to be handsome, but his features seem to lend themselves to mischievousness or to sarcasm. His voice is sharp but somehow pleasing while talking, but he does not sing at all.
Personality:G'dian is a generally cheerful person, fairly friendly and often seeming more wise and mature than his twenty years. Not much seems to bother him and he tends to go with whatever happens. He doesn't often get angry, and even when he does, he doesn't raise his voice, he just becomes stern and silent. Though he is friendly, he's not the type to speak for no reason, or gossip. He carefully considers his words and gives good advice. G'lar is the most loyal friend you will ever have, and he expects the best from his friends. He never doubts that you will do the right think in the end.
Though he is intelligent, he is not the type to sit around and read a book. He prefers action to idleness. He loves to be outside, hunting, or practicing swordwork, or sailing and swimming. He has always loved the sea, yet is also aware of it's dangers. He loves machinery and gadgets of all kinds, and has an innate ability to see how things work, and how to take them apart and put them together. He is a hard worker, as well as a very determined sort of person, but he also definitely has a playful side. The most interesting part about his personality is that he is afraid of women. He has no problem speaking with them, but he's terrified of being touched by women and he doesn't really know why. Despite this, he is a honey-tongued flatterer and ladies love him. He doesn't seem to know why.
History: Gailardian was the youngest son of wealthy minor holders on a small island east of Southern Hold. The holding was fairly new, but quite prosperous, and as the baby of the family, Gailardian was more than a bit spoiled. But that all changed when a freak storm swept over the island out of season, and no one was prepared. The boy of just five Turns was swept out to sea, and might have drowned but was rescued by a pod of shipfish. Once back on land, it was discovered that the little boy and a servant named Pere were the only ones to survive the storm.
After this, the pair moved to Eastern Hold where Pere's family lived and the young boy was raised among the servants. Still he did not have a terrible childhood, though he might not have been as doted on as before, he was still loved and mostly treated well as long as he avoided the uncertain moods of the Lord Holder.
As luck would have it, the Lord Holder's eldest son was just a Turn older than he and despite differing personalities they became fast friends, learning swordplay together and swimming, sailing and exploring. Gailardian never seemed to mind how spoiled his friend was was, and his friendship helped the Heir get over the fact that his father generally ignored him. When the boys grew older, everyone began to notice how clever Gailardian was with mechanical things, especially after he fixed the windmill without help when he was just eleven. He was encouraged to go to the Smithcraft Hall for apprenticeship, and on the urging of his friend, he did.
He thrived in the crafthall, gaining more skill as well as becoming stronger in body and mind. The masters appreciated Gailardian's gifts and encouraged him to stretch his limits. Around this time, Thread began to fall once more, and the skills of the SMithcraft were in high demand. He worked hard and eventually began to make a little money off his creations and he used his spare money to buy himself a firelizard egg when he was sixteen. It hatched into a brown that he named Gear. At eighteen he walked the tables as a journeyman and took his first posting at the weyr, to learn under the master there as well as augment the journeyman already there, who were mostly dragonriders and none that specialized in machines. To Gailardian's surprise, he was Searched as a Candidate a few months later. He didn't Impress at his first few Hatchings, but he was busy being a crafter, and its not in his nature to lose heart. Still he was overjoyed when he Impressed Tan Kailth at Nayarath's last Hatching, becoming G'dian, and he's been working hard as a weyrling ever since.
Pets: name(s):Gear
species:firelizard
age(s):five turns
description: Gear is a small but stocky brown, a mass of blocky angles and ropy muscles. He's the mixed color of copper and rust. He's a serious flit, and very helpful, but he's quite shy, generally hiding from others in his pets hair. Or trying to in any case.
-If a Rider:
Color and Name: Tan Kailth
Age: 8 months
Appearance: Kailth’s hide is a fairly average shade, just plain tan. His stripes are like most of his kind as well, a dark, near-black shade. He is a middle-sized Tan at 39 meters.
Personality: Kailth is an easygoing dragon. When he needs to work, he will, when he’s hungry, he eats, and when he finds a patch of sun, he’ll sit in it. He pretty much goes with the flow. He is very obedient and easy to get along with. When it comes to Flights, however, he gets pretty competitive.
