Y'xem's heart fell. " Do you not want to get to know me?" He was not sure if he had interpreted what she said right or not.
He looked away from her to the near-by bushes, unsure what was going on. He wasn't sure if what she said was a good thing or a bad thing...he could hope it was good.
He hesitantly looked back at her.
Alduth gurgled at the little Violet. He really couldn't understand what the fire-lizard was saying, but she was amusing.

"No, no, I do..." Kora chewed her lower lip nervously. Apparently her reply hadn't been the right one. No, she hadn't thought it would be from the start but hadn't been able to bring herself to say anything else. Now she felt awkward with Y'xem looking so hesitant and herself so nervous.
Little Lilac is funny, Nayarath rumbled and extended her head towards the Violet, who landed daintily on the Gold's muzzle and then scurried less regally up the dragon's head to settle between the knobs at the back of Nayarath's head.

Great, Y'xem thought to himself, now I've made her feel nervous. How could he mess these things up!?
He turned to her and looked in her eyes with his amber ones. " Don't get upset because I'm stupid Kora. I just...I..." He grasped her hand. " I was just hoping that you wanted to get to know me too. You do, but what you said made me think you might not."
He smiled and blushed. " I've just been thinking ever since that night. I don't think Alduth could have made a better choice to chase anyone but Nayarath." He looked away.
Alduth gurgled again. That she is. Better to be funny than boring though. I wish Mine would get one of the little fire-lizards. He settled down to a resting position on the Sands.

Kora returned his gaze; Y'xem's amber eyes were so interesting. Sometimes she collected amber, it globbed on old trees and she could pick it off to admire... but sometimes there would be insects trapped within the substance. She didn't want to end up like them, stuck in the amber. She looked away.
"I'm sorry," she replied softly. Kora was no good with words. She turned slightly, still not looking totally into Y'xem's eyes, and smiled. "Nayarath couldn't have made a better choice either, I think." She was trying to make up for her mistake, but he was looking away now. How could this work if they could hardly look at each other?
Maybe when Lilac clutches Yours could Impress. Nayarath arched her neck to bring her head close to Alduth's shoulder, at which point Lilac hopped off the Gold to inspect the Bronze. She chirped softly to herself as she marched along Alduth's back as though marking things about them into memory. Nayarath rumbled softly as she drew her head away again.

As he looked back, he blushed. She was looking at him. She liked him, if only a little bit right now. He smiled. " I'm sorry I'm so fidgety. I'm just not very good with this kind of thing. Telling someone what I fell I mean." Even so, his eyes shone...but he noticed that she didn't ever look him in the eye for long. Maybe not to get lost, but he wasn't sure.
He grinned. " Maybe we should try to look ech other in the eye more often? Or look at each other at the same time?" He laughed a little.
" And, you don't have to say you're sorry Kora. It's both our faults really, no one is to blame and no one needs to apologize." He looked at her, hand almost reaching up to caress her cheek...but he resisted, though his hand twitched and raised to her a little.
Alduth gave a draconic sigh. Yes, maybe. Though I don't think he will attract one as lively as this. He gave a mental giggle as the fire-lizard began to 'inspect' him, after all some dragons are ticklish.

Neither of them were any good at saying anything in Kora's opinion. She sighed softly. "Maybe we should..." It implied trust at least, or something like that. Kora could with most peope... Y'xem made her nervous; stupidly. She knew she shouldn't be, but being suddenly forced into a relationship with someone by a dragon's Flight just seemed odd to her even though Kora had known it was coming.
Kora glanced at Y'xem's hand, the slight movement. Quick, little things like that she always seemed to notice. What was he stopping himself from doing now?
We'll see, I suppose. Nayarath gurgled. Hers hadn't thought she would Impress the little Violet, and hadn't thought she would get a Gold dragon, and yet here she was with both. Of course, Nayarath had thought that she would get both. Maybe Alduth's thinking that His wouldn't Impress a fire-lizard like Lilac would stop one from doing so. She arched her neck to inspect her little queen egg curiously as she thought.

Y'xem looked at her. " Should what?" He really hated this kind of stuff. But it was better than being out on your butt the next morning after the Flight...sort of.
He saw her look at his hand and thought that she may take it the wrong way. " Oh, no...don't worry about that Kora. I was just not sure if you would take to kindly to me stroking your cheek...I don't know if I should have stopped myself or not." After he said this his eyes got wide, he had said something that he hadn't meant to say out loud!
His face was looking a little distraught.

"Look at each other." Kora smiled, this time in a more happy than shy way as she had before. For some reason she found that funny... but not enough to laugh apparently.
"Worry about that?" She raised her eyebrows. Why would she have worried about him moving his hand? And now she knew why he had too... all thoughts solved apparently. Kora laughed at the expression that followed his explaining the odd twitch... apparently he hadn't meant to say that.
Y'xem looked nervous and she was laughing... but Kora couldn't help it. Hopefully he wouldn't take that the wrong way.

Y'xem's face broke into a smile. " Look at us. I'm hopeless...and that hopelessness makes you laugh. Heh, this is going to be interesting at least." He grinned now, a little blush on his cheeks but he was enjoying his own discomfort.
" It would be better if we did at least occasionally look at each other though wouldn't it?" He smiled again. " Shall we try right now?" He looked her in the eye, a small smile still playing on his lips.
Alduth gave a long draconic sigh. Sometimes, Mine can be so crazy. I just hope he doesn't mess it up with Kora. Alduth blinked and shook his head at that.

"At least." Kora took a deep breath to stop laughing and grinned at him.
"Seeing as I am, I guess so." She absently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear while returning Y'xems' gaze. It felt like... a staring contest. They should have those to get used to looking at each other. Right now it still felt awkward, which was why Kora was letting her hands do other things while looking at the new Weyrleader.
Mine can be too, and they probably will mess up with each other. Nayarath rumbled as Lilac took off from Alduth's back, apparently finishing her inspection, to perch atop the queen egg and look at it curiously. Nayarath brushed the Violet away with her muzzle. Lilac gave an offended chirp and popped between, probably to join Kora.

He blinked, then laughed. " Maybe we shouldn't exactly stare at each other, but we should at least have the courage to look each other in the eye." He smiled.
Y'xem let out a sigh. " You are as beautiful as Alduth says Nayarath is." He blushed. " See...I'm not as idiotic now, guess I just need time."
Alduth gave a dragon equivalent of a shrug. Maybe they will get lucky and not move too quickly. Y'xem really needs a strong person like Yours.

Kora nodded, smiling. "Yes." Although she agreed with Y'xem, she looked away now. First down at the little flower he had given her, then out across the whole garden. She could look him in the eyes but didn't feel the need to continually.
Heat, again, rushed up Kora's neck and through her cheeks at Y'xem's comment. Compliments never ceased to embarrass her, especially ones on the beauty she didn't think she had. Lilac appeared about then, chirping excitedly as she circled tightly and landed on Kora's shoulder.
"Hey little girl," she laughed softly and stroked the Violet fire-lizard's back. Lilac hummed cheerfully.
Mine probably needs the same. Nayarath agreed. She was already growing tired of sitting with her eggs, pity she would have to stay here practically until they hatched. Hopefully putting a couple of humans together who seem to need strength from them will get them it. Nayarath would have thought having a dragon at one's back would be enough to fill in the empty space. Apparently not.

Y'xem smiled as he saw her blush. " Come on now. You aren't used to compliments? Well then, I will just have to get you used to them!" He was warming up, but expected that he would have to do this every time they met..until he was very comfortable with her.
" Do you like the flower I gave you?" He suddenly asked as he watched her stroke the Violet fire-lizard that had arrived a moment ago.
Alduth nodded. Yes, we can hope. Or...it can fail miserably. He rumbled at his own joking attitude.

Kora tried to smile, but looked more worried about Y'xem wanting to get her used to compliments. She wasn't quite sure that she ever really could, and wasn't sure she wanted to go through the process of it. Lilac, on the other hand, chirped excitedly. She, at least, liked being complimented.
"Yes." She twirled the flower and Lilac's slender head swung around to look at it curiously.
Hopefully it won't. Nayarath replied, her voice serious despite the fact that she had picked up on the Bronze's joke.

Y'xem smiled at the Violet fire-lizard. " She's a lively little girl isn't she? Seems to like that flower too...hang on..." He reached to a near-by bush and picked another flower. He placed this one between Lilac's little paws.
" For the little beauty." He grinned at Kora. " I'll have to bring you some flowers to your room every now and then. Choose some you like and I'll surprise you later."
He leaned back and stretched his arms out on the back of the bench, lightly resting one on Kora. His cheeks reddened a little..but he was becoming more comfortable with her they just needed to talk and spend time together.
Alduth nodded. I agree My Nayarath, I agree.

“She can be.” Kora smiled and Lilac gave an excited trill as Y’xem placed a flower between her paws. Taking its stem delicately in her mouth, she hopped began prancing cheerfully around on Kora’s lap, holding the little blossom high. She liked her flower.
“I like all of them, I think,” Kora replied softly. “It’s easier to surprise someone when they don’t have any idea of what they could be getting anyways.” She grinned. It was funny to her how Y’xem seemed so embarrassed about touching her. Perhaps it wasn’t that different from how compliments embarrassed Kora, but that could be funny to someone else too.
Nayarath reached out absently to Kora, checking on Hers quickly. She seemed happy. It seems to me that they are getting along well right now, she commented. That was good.

" I guess you're right about that..though I just didn't want to bring anything that you would be allergic to or something stupid like that." He smiled as he watched Lilac.
" How long do you think that it will be before Nayarath rises again? I mean...oh, geeze..." He looked away, confused about what he was trying to imply or not.
Alduth rumbled. Yes, they are. Though Mine is embarrased about physical contact...that confuses me. Maybe it has something to do with the dragon-lust that he felt during the Flight. I didn't fly that often before you my dear Queen. He crooned to her.

"I don't think I'm allergic to anything," Kora replied with a reassuring tone. "You wouldn't have to worry about that." Lilac finally dropped her flower near Kora's and the woman's fingers automatically wrapped around its stem too. Dipping her head close, Lilac gave both a sniff and then crawled onto Kora's shoulder.
"Sometime after these eggs have hatched, I would think." Kora smiled slightly. "Probably some time." She guessed he was just worried that Nayarath wouldn't choose Alduth again, just why she couldn't be totally sure though. Kora couldn't offer much help here, Nayarath would choose who she liked best; whether Alduth or another male, she wouldn't be telling Kora anything anytime soon.
Nayarath nuzzled her mate's shoulder. Maybe he'll get over it. The Gold gave the dragon equivilant of a smile. I'm glad you didn't chase many before me though. She liked a male who could wait a bit for a dragon really worth it. Yes.

Alduth nuzzled her back. It was worth the wait. I think it was for Y'xem too, but he'll never come out and say it. Alduth gave a draconic laugh.
Y'xem smiled. " Well that's good, then you will get some nice flowers the next time I come to your weyr." He winked, his way of sealing a promise.
" Now, I know she won't rise until the eggs hatch! Ha, nevermind, it was stupid anyway. You won't know for a while either." He sighed and squeezed her shoulder a little. " I dunno, it's just that...that night was special, at least to me." He looked at her sheepishly.
He was touching on a subject that wasn't comfortable to him really, not with someone he had literally been thrust into a relationship with...but he did want to continue that relationship.
Alduth's head turned to the direction of the garden. I don't believe it.

Nayarath crooned softly and then looked down at her eggs, another streak of possession passing swiftly through her. There was nothing here that was going to hurt them, but she couldn't help be feel like there was. At least Alduth was here to protect them. Yes, she replied absently.
"That'll be nice." Kora liked flowers, and so did Lilac and Nayarath. A few in their weyr would be lovely, even though no-one was in there much anymore with the Gold's eggs on the Sands.
"No, I won't." Nayarath probably wouldn't either, she had seemed as surprised as Kora when she suddenly felt the urge to Rise. There had been those few days of her acting up, her hide brightening first, but the Gold hadn't expected any of it. "It was..." Maybe not at all in the way some people might think... but it had been an important one and definately wasn't one that Kora would forget anytime soon.
Hmm? Nayarath glanced in the direction of the garden too; she sensed nothing wrong there and wasn't sure why her mate was looking over there but was curious...
