As always, Shiane sat alone in the barracks, keeping to herself more out of a willingness to observe than any real loneliness or willingness to be alone. She'd be more than willing to follow the others... If she could keep up. That was usually the problem though, she couldn't keep up. She had to check before she took a step, had to know her way to even try and the weyr was an ever changing labyrinth of sound and corridors. It was a bit hard for her to keep up with it all.

It was easier at night though, there was no one to try and avoid at night, and there were no sounds to make things even worse. Sometimes, she had to wonder how the others stood it, standing with so much noise... Then again, it was probably normal for them, normal to see things she'd never even be able to imagine.

Sighing softly as she swung her feet over the edge of the cot, Shiane shook her head slightly. Sometimes, she'd like to think that maybe one day she could try and a dragon hatching, but it wouldn't matter. She wasn't like the other candidates, dragons... Dragons needed eye contact to find their person, whers needed blood or something else. Her lack of sight wouldn't stop her Impressing one of those beautiful creatures. She just wished she could get it over with already, to stop waiting around anxiously.

Dun was bored. His had gone off with Kalen, leaving him to explore by himself. Mumbling softly in chatter and chirps, the tan ventured into no-man's land...the girl's barracks.

There was a girl in there, but only one. She looked sad...or maybe it was depressed. He landed next to her on her cot with a quiet chirp.

Inquisitive-want-to-know-why-sad!

He sent her an impression of himself, rather than wait for her to notice him. He also sent her an impression of Kendric, with the implicit question of whether or not she'd seen him.

Shiane looked up in surprise at the soft chirp, turning her head towards it with a frown. It sounded like a flitter, there were plenty around the weyr, but why would one be coming any where near her? No flitter looked to her...
"I'm not sad." Shiane responded automatically to the emotions brushing her mind, then frowned again at the lack of response

"What ever are you trying to tell me?" Shiane couldn't figure out the lack of sounds from the flitter, tilting her head to one side at him.
"I can't see at all, images don't work..." She murmured, unsure whether to use simpler words with teh flitt or not. She'd never had to communicate with them before, why would that change now.

Reaching her hand out curiously, Shiane pulled it back quickly. She had no idea how tame the flitter was, maybe he only liked His. Him? Shiane couldn't be sure, she didn't know anything about colours, so the image hadn't been much a of a give a way, but it would be rude to ask him outright.

Inquisitive!

Dun toddled closer to Shiane, inviting her to pet him. He hissed when she pulled her hand away, and promptly took over her lap.

He rubbed his head against her stomach, and looked up with an adoring gaze that had never failed him with the female of the human race.

Surprised by the hiss, Shiane was doubly shocked as he crawled into her lap. He wasn't very heavy was he? Reaching out a hand cautiously, Shiane palced her fingers lightly on his hide. He was... Soft. Not how she'd imagined flitters and dragons to feel like. She'd always thought they'd be very rough, like stone.

Laughing as his head rubbed against her stomach, Shiane gently ran her fingers along his back, lifting her head to stare absently at the wall.
"What brings you to the girls barracks then? Where's your bonded?"

[friar]

Dun made a chirpy-happy-noise at the girl's attention, but then her attention seemed to shift. he shirruped, trying to get her to look at thim again.

He transmitted an image of Kendric and blue Kalen, walking away from lonely Dun. He blinked his first lids, acting like he was blinking back a draconic tear. He was good at playing on the emotions of the female...but not if he still hasn't realized she can't see him!

Shiane looked surprised as he chirped again, turning her head towards him slightly. He didn't seem to mind that she was touching his hide, so it was possible that he just wanted more attention. Unfortunately Shiane wasn't overly confident in handling the flitter, and thus didn't want to press down too hard on hi hide, or scratch in, jsut in case it hurt.

Again she frowned, shaking her head as he fell silent again. Flitters used images didn't they? And those wouldn't work for her, it was a shame but they just wouldn't.
"Sorry little one, I can't really understand." She spoke softly, shaking her head ruefully before shrugging slightly,
"If he left, why not tag along then? Or... Maybe you were sleeping?" She didn't know if his bonded leaving was the case, but it seemed likely.
